SMARTNET ECEN vs ECDN for EX90's&60's

Quick question that I have not been able to get an answer at the moment from Cisco, or from a vendor. Looking at the "Service Finder" page. What is the difference between the ECEN (CON-ECEN-CTS-EX60) and the ECDN (CON-ECDN-CTS-EX60) with focus on the updates/upgrades?  As in What is an "OS Update", a "Software Application Update", and a "Software Application Upgrade"? I have called Cisco pre-sales with no help, and the vendor I talked to passed my question over to their engineer and I haven't received an answer yet, and it's been a few weeks since then.
Thanks in advance,
Nathan

Sandra,
Thanks for the response. You have helped me get closer to the answers I'm looking for.  Just to clarify though. For the ECEN when you say "RMA". Is that the same as what Cisco calls "Return for Repair"(RFR) in the SMARTnet Service At-A-Glance PDF?
Also, I'm still confused about what exactly Cisco defines as an "OS Update", a "Software Application Update", and a "Software Application Upgrade"(see attached screen grab).  I'm assuming that the TC/TE software is the "OS Update".  What about the "Software Application Update", and "Software Application Upgrade"? Are those actually not applicable for the TelePresence EX60/90's, and/or are they the support  for supported 3rd-party software that the SMARTnet Service Q&A PDF talks about?
Separate question... Would I need to get an additional SMARTnet Service Contract for the DV8 Touch Screen Controllers that came with the EX60/90's, or would the coverage for the EX60/90's include them? The EX60/90's were purchased with part numbers CTS-EX60-K9/CTS-EX90-K9. Not as "Spares" with the part number ending in "equal"(=).
Thank You for Your Help,
Nathan

    Dears,
I am trying to find the part number for the Cisco SMARTnet Maintenance 8x5xNBD for the Cisco   ASA5510-SEC-BUN-K9.
I browse cisco website, tried dynamic config tool, forums etc but no luck.
1: Please let me know the part number for it.
2: Which tool can be used to find smartnet or other Maintenance details/partnumbers
3: Is there any specific tool other then Dynamic Config to generate BOM

Yes there is. You can use Cisco Commerce Workspace which is a classical tool from Cisco. Cisco Commerce workspace provides one integrated commerce experience that allows cisco partners to register deals, configure and price products, software and related services, and submit orders from a single Workspace.

  • Ios update for 3560-C : WS-C3560CG-8PC-S

    Hi
I plan to buy WS-C3560CG-8PC-S (Catalyst 3560-C) for my home lab. I just created a new account on cisco.com (I did not register any equipment or contract for that new account). I was able to download ios 12 and 15 for that switch.
    - Will I be able to flash one of these versions when I will have the new switch ?
Cisco warranty for these Switchs (Enhanced Limited Lifetime Hardware Warranty, www.cisco-servicefinder.com/warrantyfinder.aspx) says NO OS Software Updates included. Does tha mean that I can download ios updates but won't be able to flash the device or use it ?
    - Do I really have to buy Smartnet support to be able to update ios for that switch ?
    Thanks by advance

Hello just to answer some of your points.
    - Everybody with an cisco account and without contract can download universal ios. The universal ios file can't be used without an proper license. So it doesn't matter
Maybe this is the case, may just come with a base feature set. Ip base or LAN base?
    - 3560CG comes with an IP Base license and can't be upgraded to IP Services
It can be upgraded to ip services. You need the correct image or license, depending on which major version you go with, I.e. 12 or 15.
12 you can download the correct firmware with the feature set, with 15 you need a license.
    - So I suppose that I will be able to update 3560CG with any universal ios version and "stay" at IP Base level
Depending on what feature set the universal image has without licenses. I assume its base.
    - Smartnet is required if you need support (TAC) or quick (4, 8 hours) hardware replacement
Yes I believe so, although I think the thing you call smartnet, I call Cisco service support contract..?
    - Smartnet is not required for normal (days) hardware replacement as 3560CG warranty is lifetime of the product (except power for 5 years)
This information should all be in the service support contract.
    Hope this helps.

  • ISE Not Identifying AD Group Attributes when using Multiple ISE Servers

So we have multiple ISE Servers with differing personas. I was having an issue with our new ISE setup not identifying AD Group Attributes when using them in Authorization rules.
We have 2- 3395 appliances running Admin and Monitoring/Troubleshooting Personas and 2- 3395 appliances running as Policy server personas. We are running  v1.1.1.268 with the latest two patches.
I was unable to pull Active Directory Group Attributes in any of my Authorization rules. After Resyncing all the boxes with the Primary Administration box I was able to do this. There is no bug listings for this occurance nor do we have Smartnet to call support for other reasons. I thought this might be useful to someone who is having the same issue and is unable to figure it out with TAC
    -CC

Absolutely. All units said in-sync after setting their personas.
    Here is our layout:
    ISE-ADM-01  Admin-Primary, Monitoring-Secondary
    ISE-ADM-02  Admin-Secondary, Monitoring-Primary
    ISE-PDP-01  Policy Only
    ISE-PDP-02  Policy Only
I synced one at a time starting with ADM-02. After completing the other two boxes. Active Directory Attribs were pulled down when using them in the Ext Group within my Authz rules.

  • UCM version upgrade and failover

I'm new to the company, and I currently have a Cisco MCS 7828-H3 running UCM 6.1.1 with Unity connection 2.1.1.  We had a psu go faulty on the MCS which killed the phone systems for a day, and had everyone going crazy.  I figure best bet is just to buy a backup MCS off of ebay, and run it in some kind of failover config.  I was also looking to upgrade to some of the newer versions.  Looking at the version compatibility chart, 6.1.1 isn't even shown as compatible with my server, so I'm not sure how that worked out. The newest 8.6 is indeed compatible, but I was wondering how licensing works on this device?  Does smartnet cover the upgrade for going from 6.1 to 8.6?  Also, I see two machines on ebay (one of which looks beefier), but the compatibility chart doesn't show them as being compatible.  Will I still be able to upgrade them to the same versions?  How does failover work with this system.  I really don't want to have to bother with getting any new licensing for the backup server since it will just be there in the case of an emergency (1 day every couple of years).

If a model does not show up try looking here:
Cisco 7800 Series Media Convergence Servers
    Solution Overviews
If it's not the same HW most likely you won't be able to install it and won't be supported if you manage to install it but the specs do not match what is on the link.
As far a failover it's either you buy another node license and create a subscriber (which will be seamless failover for users) or you backup your config daily and when your PUB crashes you take that config and load it into the other server which will be running the exact same version as the production PUB and you also need to reach licensing in order for them to rehost the licenses from one server to the other. Obviusly the 2nd option means you'll be without phone services until you restore your config on the other server and get the licenses.

  • IPS service part number

    Hi...
We have received an ASA 5540 w/AIP SSM 20 included. We have requested for 3 year warranty and signatures updates to be included in this purchase. The support part numbers received were
SP-SFSW-ASAINC20 (price included with appliance), description: IPS-SP SIG AND SW AIP SSM-20 included in ASA systems
    SP-SFSW-AS4A20K9 (separate price listed), description: IPS-SP SIG AND SW ASA5540 w AIP-SSM-20,4GE + 1FE,3DES/AES
I would like to know what these two part number covers.
    All help is appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
The SP-SFSW-ASAINC20 looks as though it covers the Smartnet and IPS updates for the AIP-SSM-20 module by itself and the second one should be for the Smartnet and IPS updates for the AIP-SSM-20 which is included in an ASA bundle.
    Cheers,

  • Cisco Auto Update Failure - Problem @ Cisco??

    Hello,
My sensor has stopped doing auto updates & there's been no config changes on the sensor. When tyring to access the update URL via a web browser I get the following error:
We are unable to process your request at this time. Please try again later. If the problem persits, please contact customer Support. We apologize for any inconveninence this may cause.
SmartNET contract is valid for the IPS.

I am also having problems. Running on an ASA 5510, been auto updating fine for over a year, but no longer is. I have always been using the default URL. I even set everything back to defaults, re-entered my login info, and still have the same issue.
I've placed newer (but not the newest) signatures on a FTP server and the ASA will pick those up, but not from Cisco.com.
The error in the logs says "uri does not contain a valid ip address" but searching for this is fruitless. The Cisco.com url I'm using, the default, is "https://198.133.219.25//cgi-bin/front.x/ida/locator/locator.pl". I'm running 6.1(1)E2 currently on signature 351 which I updated to yesterday via FTP. It will not download 352.

  • How can i upgrade system IOS images of routers, switches and firewalls

    Hi,
I am very much surprised and less of understanding yet how Cisco's licensing program or IOS upgrades are done. I have many routers, switches & ASA's of whom i wan to upgrade the IOS's but i cannot do so. How ever i can download those images from internet but i want to know how can i do this from Cisco as i don't want to trust those IOS's available over internet.
As per my study what i have found that i need to have Cisco Service Contract number for that devices so that i can download updated IOS Images for them.
Someone kindly explain what are the best methods for the above requirements.
    Regards
    @Mohammed

You're correct regarding a service contract. Cisco calls this Smartnet support. It includes both hardware support (i.e. returns for failed hardware), software support (including right to download and upgrade your software) and technical assistance (via the Cisco TAC). Smartnet is charged separately for each covered device. Once you have it, your cisco.com userid needs to be associated with your service contract number. Doing that will then allow you to download the software from cisco.com. (There are some very limited cases in which you don't have to have a support contract - mostly when there is a security advisory (PSIRT) indicating the Cisco software was flawed as it was initially released.)
Every product (or product family) has a product support page on cisco.com. That page includes release notes, configuration guide, users guides, and a link to software downloads for that product. Start by reading the release notes and determining which (if any) upgrade is appropriate for your product. Then you can download and upgrade the software as necessary.

  • WLSE - WCS upgrade license question

    Hello,
We need to upgrade our WLSE to WCS but our sales people bought the wrong license (WCS-Standard-K9) Is it possible to upgrade the WLSE to WCS with this license and just get the conversion CDs needed from you ?

    Hi Gudmundur,
    This will not work, plus you have probably paid more that is necessary as the Upgrade Licenses are le$$ to encourage this migration. You should,as noted by Dennis contact your SE or;
    [email protected]
Converting Existing CiscoWorks WLSE to Cisco WCS Licenses
CiscoWorks WLSE (Models 1130-19 or 1133) can be converted into a server that runs Cisco WCS. This allows customers of CiscoWorks WLSE to migrate to the Cisco Unified Wireless Network architecture using their existing CiscoWorks WLSE platform. CiscoWorks WLSE conversion SKUs are price-adjusted to make transitioning from CiscoWorks WLSE to Cisco WCS cost-effective.
Once converted, a CiscoWorks WLSE is no longer a self-contained appliance; it becomes a server that runs Cisco WCS software using RedHat Linux ES v. 4.0. The converted CiscoWorks WLSE operates as a brand new Cisco WCS installation and supports only lightweight access points and wireless LAN controllers that are running Lightweight Access Point Protocol (LWAPP). Stand-Alone (autonomous) access points are not supported by a converted CiscoWorks WLSE.
All WCS-WLSE-UPG-K9 SKUs ship with two special conversion CDs. These CDs will check to make sure that a CiscoWorks WLSE is installed prior to beginning the Cisco WCS conversion process. The conversion software will not install if the CiscoWorks WLSE software check, performed by the conversion software, does not pass.
Note: Please take note of the following special considerations for CiscoWorks WLSE conversions.
CiscoWorks WLSE Express (Model 1030) and CiscoWorks WLSE (Models 1105) are not supported with this SKU. Do not install the CiscoWorks WLSE CDs on to the CiscoWorks WLSE Express (Model 1030) appliance or CiscoWorks WLSE (Model 1105). This conversion is not supported and will not work.
A CiscoWorks WLSE that has been converted to Cisco WCS cannot be reverted back to operate as a CiscoWorks WLSE.
To find the model number of a CiscoWorks WLSE, look at the compliance label on the bottom of the chassis front bezel. Only CiscoWorks WLSE with a compliance label that says 1130-19 or 1133 can be converted to Cisco WCS.
Please see Appendix C for information about receiving support for existing SMARTnet® (hardware support) contracts for CiscoWorks WLSE.
Customers that are migrating their existing CiscoWorks WLSE to operate as a Cisco WCS server should select from the WCS-WLSE-UPG-K9 SKU family and then select one of the sub-SKU options based on the following:
    Base or Location
Access point quantity. (The CiscoWorks WLSE conversion CD's do not automatically provide support for a set number of access points or location services. The number of lightweight access points supported as well as Cisco WCS location is selected by the customer based on the WCS-WLSE-UPG-K9 family sub-SKU. Customers can select the sub-SKU that contains the access point count and Cisco WCS option that they wish to support.)
A Cisco Ordering Tool sample for WCS-WLSE-UPG-K9 is displayed in Link.
    PAK Certificate, Instructions and CD
Customers that purchase the SKU family WCS-WLSE-UPG-K9 will automatically receive, by U.S. mail, two special CDs containing the CiscoWorks WLSE to Cisco WCS conversion software, as well as the PAK certificate, instructions on how to register the PAK and links to Cisco WCS manuals and release notes. CiscoWorks WLSE conversion software cannot be downloaded.

  • How to configure ex90 for use with polycom resource manager GAB

My customer has a Polycom infrastructure, including using Resource Manager for the GAB server. I also have several Cisco endpoints deployed (EX90 and C40) and I need to get these units configured to use the GAB. Polycom documentation sucks and only says:
    1. At the endpoint, enter the information required for directory set up including the Polycom Global Address Book/RealPresence Resource Manager system IP address and the path.
    For example, http://<RPRM_IP_ADDRESS>/TMS/Public/external/phonebook/PhoneBookService.asmx.
To do this on Cisco endpoints, go to System Configuration> Phone Book Server.
    2. Wait for the connections to take effect
When I go to the EX90 phone book server setup page, I only have ID, Type and URL fields. The type field has a drop down that only has Cisco options available (VCS, TMS, Callway and CUCM)
No matter what combination I use, I haven't been able to get the EX90 to pickup the Polycom directory.
    Any suggestions? Thanks

What happens when you try that URL (http://<RPRM_IP_ADDRESS>/TMS/Public/external/phonebook/PhoneBookService.asmx) from a Web Browser - do you see anything, or get an error?
You'll need to make sure that's accessible first before trying to configure your endpoints to use it.

  • Cisco Smartnet for WS-C3750X-48P-S switch.

    Hello,
One of my collegues states that:
"With the new 3750X and 3560X Switches you do not have to purchase SmartNET as they are covered by 24X7 hardware replacement for the live of the switch."
I do have 2x 3750X stacked, so I'd like to make sure if this is true? If so how does it work?
    Thank you,
    forman

    forman
This is a very interesting question that may have several subtle issues in the answer. I am giving a URL to a Cisco document that discusses the limited lifetime warranty for the 3750X switches.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/switches/ps5718/ps10745/product_bulletin_c25-607000.html
What I get from reading this includes these points:
    - this applies to switches running the base feature sets. If you need some feature available only in IP Services image then you need SMARTnet.
    - you have coverage for hardware problems for the lifetime of the switch.
    - the hardware coverage provides next business day replacement. Some networks need replacements more quickly that this. What are the requirements for replacement time for your network?
    - the warranty provides updates to software, maintenance releases and  bug fixes, but upgrades require a maintenance contract.
    - the limited warranty gives you only 90 days of TAC support.. You will get bug fixes as they are released, but what do you do if you have the limited warranty and believe that you are running into a new bug?
Some networks will look at the situation and will be happy with just the limited warranty while other networks will consider the restrictions and uncertainty and decide that SMARTnet is worth it. Where does your network fall in this consideration?
