Smartview 11.1.2.1 in Distributed Enviroment

Good day
We installed HFM in a distributed enviroment with 2 web servers , 2 app servers and 2 Reporting servers
Everything is working well ,but we encountered the problem on smartview 11.1.2.1 if we use web1 we get the this error in smartview if we create a private connection
"Invalid session.One Possiblity is that the session has timed out .Login again
If we use web2 and create a private connection it works fine
Both servers are identical
Windows 2008 R2 sp1 Hyperion 11.1.2.1 Office 2010 32bit
any ideas?

  • XML Publisher in a distributed enviroment

    Can we run XML Publisher on it own server?
    If so how do we pickup the output of a report in the concurrent reqest manager and bring it over to the XMLP server to bind it to a template?
    We are running everything in the EBS.

    We would like to run the reports on the enterprise edition (stand alone) server and this works well if we just execute a sql statement pointed at a data source.
    We are looking to print invoices and this is now handled though reports in concurrent manger. We would like to try and offload the process to the xmlp stand alone server if possible.
    We have been able to get the invoices in xml format by using our current xml 5.0 with the Output Post Processor patch and register the templates all on the apps server but we would like to dedicate the process all on the xmlp standalone server if possible.
    If anyone has a architecture drawing showing how to split up the different boxes, servers and products that would be great.
    We want to generate ebs reports like invoices, PO's etc.
    Thanks

  • Builder configuration in distributed enviroment

    Hi,
    The scenario is, there are 3 data centers and in all the workflow engine is
    installed. In one data centre, the workflow configurations defined in the
    buider. The same configuration need to be copied in all the data centres.
    The question is, are there any tools or features to copy the workflow
    configurations defined in the Buider(in one data centre) to other data centres?
    Regards
    honnur

    Honnur,
    You can load the definitions stored in a wft file remotely using the wfload utility via SQLNET.
    You can write a script which loads the definitions onto each of your datacenters.

  • ISE upgrade 1.1.4 to 1.2 Fail

    Hi there
    I´m upgrading a distributed enviroment with 2 Administration/monitoring nodes and 2 as a Policy. I´m upgrading from 1.1.4 patch 6 to 1.2.0.899
    I´ve upgraded first the secondary administration node and then the both Policy servers. Now they are already in 1.2 version, but when I´m going to upgrade the primary server (still in v1.1.4) seems as if there where still any server without upgrade.

    The servers are running in VMWare
    This are the servers already upgraded to 1.2
    This is from the primary administration server, still running 1.1.4
    Any Ideas
    Thanks in advance

    Hi ,
    The final step in the upgrade of ISE 1.2 is to upgrade the primary Administration node to Cisco ISE, Release 1.2.
    If the upgrade is success on this node then this node will be added to the new deployment as  a secondary Administration node. You can promote the secondary  Administration  node to be the primary node in the new  deployment. If you want to retain the secondary Administrative node from old deployment as your primary node, you must  obtain a license that includes the UDI of both the primary and secondary  Administration nodes.
    In case if you want to make your primary Admin node from old deployment as a Primary node in the new ISE 1.2 deployment then just promote the node.
    As you are facing difficulty in upgrading Primary Admin node from ISE 1.1.4 version to ISE 1.2 version you try the following steps.
    -The safest way is to re-image the ISE Primary node es-ise000 to ISE 1.2 version and join to the deployment. Once the node is joined successfully and replication is done , you can safely promote the original primary node es-ise000 as your Primary ISE node in new ISE 1.2 deployment.
    -The other way is to perform reset-config operation on the older Primary node and once it is done perform the upgrade operation and then register it back to the deployment of ISE 1.2 and then promote as Primary node once replication is completed.
    Thanks,
    Naresh

  • BusinessDelegate and Value Object Patterns

    I have just embarked on the facinating world of J2EE. My questions are very simple:
    Why would I use a BusinessDelegate pattern? What is it and why have this extra tier?
    Finally, why would I use a Value Object? What are they? How would I use them in practice?
    As you can see I am a total novice and would appreciate expert advice. Thanks in advance.

    Why would I use a BusinessDelegate pattern? What is it
    and why have this extra tier?Well, there are always some extra "plumbing" work involved when calling business services, especially if they are located in remotely hosted EJBs. You need to create your JNDI-context, perform a lookup, do narrow()-operations etc. etc.
    Now this is implementation-specific stuff, that your presentation tier doesn't really need. No, it's only concerned about sending some values to the business-logic tier, and retrieving the results and acting upon them (usually formatting and displaying them to the end-user at some way).
    If you wouldn't have BusinessDelegate as an extra insulation layer between your presentation and business tiers, you'd end up cluttering your presentation code with unnecesessary implementation-specific stuff. When you have a BusinessDelegate, you can isolate all the dirty work into it, make it configurable somehow, and just call it from your Servlets/JSPs/Applets whatever.
    So instead of this:
    InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext();
    Object home = ctx.lookup( "com.company.myproject.ejb.FirstBusinessBean" );
    FirstBusinessBeanHome narrowedHome = (FirstBusinessBeanHome)PortableRemoteObject.narrow( home, FirstBusinessBeanHome.class );
    FirstBusinessBean remote = home.create();
    // Only now you get down to the real business.
    String[] initialValues = remote.readInitialValues();
    // And so on.
    // Some stuff like try..catch suppressed for readability.You can do something simple as this:
    EJBDelegate myDelegate = EJBDelegate.getInstance( MyBeans.FIRST_BUSINESS_BEAN );
    String[] initialValues = myDelegate.readInitialValues();
    Finally, why would I use a Value Object? What are
    they? How would I use them in practice?A value object is an object whose sole purpose is to represent a value (or a bunch of values). In the previous example, if you needed to get a list of persons from you database, and one person is represented as one entity bean, at first you'd probably end up getting a collection of PersonEntityBean's remote interfaces as a result of some ejbFindBy()-query method.
    Now if you are running on a true distributed enviroment, when you iterate through this collection, displaying the persons ie. on a JSP page, every getFirstName(), getLastName(), getTitle() etc. call could potentially be a remote method call, adding a tremendous amount of extra overhead. This of course depends entirely upon your app servers implementation.
    But if you replace your Remote interfaces with a simple Value object, for example PersonVO, it could be as simple as this:
    public class PersonVO
        String firstName, lastName, title;
        public PersonVO( String firstName, String lastName, String title )
            this.firstName = firstName;
            this.lastName = lastName;
            this.title = title;
       public void getFirstName() { return this.firstName; }
       public void getLastName() { return this.lastName; }
       public void getTitle() { return this.title; }
    }Instead of a collection of remote interfaces, you return these from your business method, and use them for displaying in your presentation logic. Simple, clean and fast.
    Oh, and notice that the VO is immutable. This is a done on purpose.
    Another point where a VO is really helpful that if you have ie. two different tables in your DB, represented by two different Entity Beans (Person and PhoneNumber for example), which have a relation at the database. With a VO, you can package data from multiple entities into a single object, instead of having to deal with a multitude of different entities and their remote interfaces.
    I could go on for hours about this, but I guess I'll have to do some productive work as well. Anyway, these patterns are tried and tested, any believe me, they make the job a lot easier when properly implemented.

  • How the JVM SHOULD be distributed (interesting)

    Well I sent this document to the JCP maybe it will be better off there....
    Sun needs a new JAVA marketing strategy.
    Opinions expressed here are of my own, Matt Prokes, remember these are only opinions about what should or could be.
    If you have ?'s contact me at [email protected]
    What Java's Problem Is:
    As far as I can see the only problem that java has these days is the client inconsistencys, this is due to Microsoft and there attempted dustruction of the HUGE java language, and Microsoft has succeeded wonderfully thus far, which is sad. I feel it is only due to the way Sun markets Java, not that they have not tried but they are going about it the wrong way.
    Sun Feels They Are Being Oppressed:
    It seems to me that Sun has a feeling of being oppressed by Microsoft, they see the company inflicting standards on the computing world that are self centered and platform specific, this is why java was created, to break that mold and it does it wonderfully but java has not gained populatiry because of marketing technique, no, it has gained popularity because it REALLY is what it is cracked up to be....A better way of doing things....
    That is why sun landed the title of being one the the most innovative companys today by the magazine PC World ranking 13th place while Microsoft landed 137th (i think).
    Yet with all this technology sun does not try to inflict it's standards on the PC world, well you might think what about all those court cases, for instance the most recent that suggests that Sun wants to FORCE Microsoft to install their JVM. I think stuff like this just slows Sun down, as we learned with previous cases Microsoft is just to big to fight and if you do manage to win it will be 3-4 years later. If you think about it time is money, why waste time? Trying to leach off of Microsoft is NOT the way to inflict standards, infact it is one of the worst ways because by the time you would have won microsoft would have bullied the java enviroment to it's grave (umm .net). So you may ask how do we enforce standards without the help of microsoft, the answer is more simple than you may think yet for some reason it has not been thought of by Sun. So far this is what has brought microsoft to the top.
    1.Great Software
    2.Enforced Standards, and Implementation
    3.Excellent Marketing
    4.Protected Software (Ideas)
    5.Industry Wide Support
    Innovation is not on this list, Microsoft does not have a innovative bone in it's body at the moment, it just buys technology that it needs, and has flashy GUI's, and a huge amount of support in the software industry. This is why according to the magazine PC World microsoft ranks #137 in innovation while Sun sits at a satisfying ranking of #13.
    What this means is that Sun just is more innovative, it has technology out there that could be used but it can't because we have clients with Version 1.3 Java software on their PC's, Either that or Propietary and NOT PLATFORM INDEPENDENT Microsoft JVM's which Microsoft will again start to distribute in 2004 on XP, this brings me to my first point, if we are going to have a platform independent language it needs to come from ONE POINT that will be implemented by all Manufactures (the W3C for instance). You may be thinking well how do you enforce the SUN JVM if microsoft does not pack it with windows? The answer is you do what most new companys do and that is goto the PC Vendors. I would like to point out that microsoft is for the most part ONLY a software company (aside from some of there PC products), but they do not build and distribute PC systems, thus microsoft does not control what can go on a PC, I would like to point out the growing Linux threat to windows, more particulary the linux based operating system (Lindows) recently lindows has aquired a deal with walmart to sell there operating system as a subsitute to windows, this worked out phenominaly and right now walmart cannot seem to keep enough of the pc's on the shelves (since they cost only about 199$). Case point linux has also grown enormously due to Home Editions of linux (Red Hat). The first point I would like to make is that Sun should be PAYING vendors to install the SUN JVM over the microsoft one, this takes care of a few of Sun's problems (Not as much industry support as microsoft, and upgrading the JVM) all this can be done for a measily 5-6 million a year and will reach about 70% of the PC sector, infact I am almost certain this is how microsoft started out.
    One Of Java's Big Problems JVM Inconsistencys
    Now if Sun locks 70% of the PC market that will already be a large boost for java, but the question is how to make the percentage grow to 100%... I would now like to point out the company Macromedia, macromedia products are phenominal, and have changed the way media is seen on the web, particularly the Flash product that macromedia sells, now at this moment macromedia has stated that >90% flash support exists on the web today and >70% is with the most current version of flash, as I see it infact flash is one of the most universally supported pieces of software even more so than microsoft, this is why you see flash movies on yahoo, cnet, amazon, and even MSN! So you may ask what made flash what it is today? Well as described before flash is supported and installed by PC vendors, and even if it is not you can bearly go any place on the web with out getting a message stating that you should upgrade to the most current version of flash, this is due to the wide support on the web..... Now on the other hand if I run a java applet and the applet was compiled with some new features that were not supported in version 1.3 (Swing for example) we will get an error message stating that the package cannot be found and the applet will not run...You do not get any messages to upgrade, no window prompts, nothing..which brings me to my next point the java compiler should include the code (a pre JVM 1.3 version & microsoft JVM compatiable) that will prompt you to install the most current version of Java you already see default loaders for swing, a plugin check should also be included in all programs to ensure that you have to most recent version, and if you do not then it will send you to the Sun Website, or display a update manager or something. Getting an error saying that the applet packages are not found does not help the user any it only frusterates them, you have to physically provide a remedy to the problem at hand. This should also check to see if the microsoft JVM is installed and if it is prompt to upgrade to the Sun JVM, this will pretty much distroy the use of the microsoft JVM.
    This takes care of the enforcing standards part, braudens the Industry Wide Support, and protects the java enviroment, last but not least you need to promote the software, Java already does this excellently with webservices, and other things but there are more consumers than businesses and Java should also be concentrating more on the excellent 3d support that they have, the networking features of java, ect. Take OpenOffice.org for instance the product has grown emmensly since it has started and much uses Java API's, you would see much growth in Java if you provided other products like Open Office for free, for instance a Quake Like Multiplayer game in Java 3D distributed on an open source enviroment, in applet form (since applets are exclusivly a invention of Java), and then have a couple of servers set up that people can play for free on Sun's site, more networking app's for free, ect. You have to promote some of the more flashy features of Sun this way in order to see more growth and support and for free (learn from linux which is quickly becoming a HUGE threat for microsoft) if sun is making 13 billion a year I see no problem to them sporting a couple of servers with some USEFUL online apps/games/ect that sport how innovative java really is, and if they really need to they can have all the banners on stuff like the online games, take Http://www.runescape.com that sports an average of 10,000 users at any moment using the cross platform Java 3d API and they do it for free! All open source free products should be on Suns website, it shows how strong of a community Sun really is, instead of having it on some other website like www.openoffice.org that only sports Sun's name maybe a few times you might occasionally see a logo.. it would be better to maybe get open office from an address like www.openoffice.sun.com, maybe try a www.games.sun.com address or a www.apps.sun.com and then advertise the stuff that can be found at the Sun website. Sun should be proud to be open source, it is the only thing microsoft can't buy....
    Opinions Of Matt Prokes..
    [email protected]

    Sun should be proud to be open source, it is the only thing microsoft
    can't buy....Thats the only line of your whole pointless post that I read.
    Since when is "sun" open source. I imagine you mean java. Java isn't open source, what makes you think it is? You can get the source for it and modify it to suit ur needs as per the license but this isn't really open source.. is it?
    Anyway, don't waste space with your crap here, send an e-mail to somebody at sun instead, its just a waste posting this here.

  • How to use Identity Map in distribution enviroment

    Identity map ensure that each object only loads one from db.
    It creates a map to store each object before others use this. I make this map as static for that class.
    Then how could I use it in distribution enviroment. As this class in another server doesn't have this record.

    How it control the concurrency
    problem?Obviously, that is an implementation issue. And not an easy one to solve.
    What's really usage for identity Map?Probably in a non-distributed, low-thread environment. Especially one where the developer has some control over the threads, which is not found in distributed environments.
    I am a new one for study pattern. and I haven't
    clearly picture for these things. especially in
    work..Oh, you've probably used them - you just didn't know you did. My favorite pattern: StateMachine. I have absolutely no idea how many times I implemented that particular pattern before I even knew what it was called.

  • API to list Uniform Distributed Queue JMS Servers

    Hi all,
    I posted this in the SOA suite forum but this one may be better.
    I am writing a POJO webservice to synchronously read a message from a JMS queue. Unfortunately the queue is actually a uniform distributed queue so I actually need to look for messages in each of the local queues.
    I have written code to find the JNDI names of the local queues as follows:
    StringArray DistribMemberNames = new StringArray();
    String ttt;
    ttt = JMSHelper.uddMemberJNDIName("IMPJMSServer_1", part1.getJNDIName());
    DistribMemberNames.add(ttt);
    ttt = JMSHelper.uddMemberJNDIName("IMPJMSServer_2", part1.getJNDIName());
    DistribMemberNames.add(ttt);
    This works fine but I have hard coded the names of the JMS Servers and this is bad practice. I need to find a method where I can take the JNDI name of the uniform distributed queue and find all the JMSServer names. I have been looking for days but I can’t find anywhere in the API documentation that describes this.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Robert
    (I am using 11.1.1.5 on a clustered weblogic enviroment)

    Hi,
    I have managed to answer this question myself.
    I needed to create a context:
    Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
    env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory");
    m_jndiContext = new InitialContext(env);
    Look up the main runtime mbean
    MBeanServer server;
    server = (MBeanServer) m_jndiContext.lookup("java:comp/env/jmx/runtime");
    Navigate down the domain configuration to get the JMSServers
    ObjectName service = null;
    ObjectName domainConfiguration = null;
    ObjectName[] jmsServers = null;
    service = new ObjectName(
    "com.bea:Name=RuntimeService,"
    + "Type=weblogic.management.mbeanservers.runtime.RuntimeServiceMBean");
    domainConfiguration = (ObjectName) server.getAttribute(service, "DomainConfiguration");
    jmsServers = (ObjectName[]) server.getAttribute(domainConfiguration, "JMSServers");
    For each server you can retrive it's name:
    for (int i = 0; i < length_serverRT; i++) {
    String jmsServerName = "";
    jmsServerName = (String) server.getAttribute(serverRT, "Name");
    I had to do some additional filtering for my own requirements

  • Need help about distributed sql statement

    Hello everybody
    Enviroment:
    Oracle 11g R1.
    This Database was fine, 'till some days ago that a new system was deployed on other database. New system runs some SELECT querys to a my database using db_links. These statements are blocking some resources and 'cause that they are blocking many users of my database. I can see on Enterprise Manager this wait event : "enq: TM contention".
    Now my question is, why are these querys are blocking resources and users if they are only of type SELECT??? I thought that querys that did this were DML and DDL statements.
    Does this behavior is related with that those querys are executed by a distributed way (using dblinks)??
    Thanks a lot

    HTHNot always true though, it depends. The article you are linking to is quite old and covers, as stated, Oracle version(s): 7.0 – 9.2. Whereas the OP is on 11.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10500_01/server.920/a96521/ds_txns.htm
    In the section "Read-Only Response"
    Note that if a distributed transaction is set to read-only, then it does not use rollback segments. If many users connect to the database and their transactions are not set to READ ONLY, then they allocate *rollback space* even if they are only performing queries.
    In the OP's version

    Note that if a distributed transaction is set to read-only, then it does not use undo segments. If many users connect to the database and their transactions are not set to READ ONLY, then they allocate *undo space* even if they are only performing queries.
    However that doesn't account for the types of lock the OP is experiencing.

  • About Backup and Recovery in a distribuited enviroment

    Hi.
    I've read that if you more that one DB (say 2) connected in a distribuited enviroment, all DBs must be recovered in case one of your DBs fails.
    I'd like to clarify the folloiwng issues:
    - It that 100% true, i mean isn't an exception to that rule?.
    - What happens if one DB is in archive mode and the other is not?
    - Why do i have to restore both DBs if there's one one in trouble?.
    - Isn't there a way to tell recovery process that you don't want restore or apply the distributed data, since you know that data is already there (at least in the case of complete recovery)?
    Thanks in advance ...!

    I couldn't find much info on the topic for 9i (you don't mention your version), but found this in the Backup and Recovery Concepts manuls:
    "If the database is a member of a distributed database system, then all databases in the system should operate in the same archiving mode. Note the consequences and constraints contained in the following table.
    Mode Constraint Consequence
    ARCHIVELOG
    Closed cleanly
    Backups at each node can be performed autonomously, that is, individually and without time coordination.
    NOARCHIVELOG
    Closed cleanly
    Consistent whole database backups must be performed at the same global time to plan for global distributed database recovery. For example, if a database in New York is backed up at midnight EST, the database in San Francisco should be backed up at 9 PM PST."
    Therefore, I wouldn't recommend having one database in archivelog mode and the other not. As far as your last question is concerned, I'd say that Oracle won't try any recovery if there isn't a need for it (if the data is already there), but that could be tested to confirm. I think that you need to read carefully the RAC concepts manual, and try some backup/recovery scenarios hopefully on a test box.

  • Many mintues to retrieve or submit in SmartView 11.1.1.3

    Dear SmartView Forum,
    I just rolled out the 11.1.1.3 suite in production and I've got at least 2 users in remote office locations having uber slow retrieval and submission times in SmartView.
    They are using a spreadsheet that is distributed by their department with bunches of tabs with data that gets pulled into three tabs that are Planning forms opened with SmartView.
    Step one when opening the file is to retrieve in the forms. This is taking 15-20 minutes. Submitting the data takes as long. The users have to submit many times while forecasting, so this kind of slowness is unacceptable.
    It does not appear every remote user is having the problem, but the only users reporting the problem are remote. By remote I mean they work in WAN connected offices connected back to our main campus by T1.
    I was focused on network being the problem this morning, but now I'm less so. Planning web and the "legacy" add-in (props to you, Matt, for the new terminology) work fine. The problem is SmartView itself, I'm almost convinced, but it could still be network if SmartView and APS are doing alot of talking back and forth, and in 9.3.1 SmartView and Planning did not.
    Please anyone with ideas about this pipe up and help me figure this out. It's kind of important that these people be able to forecast.
    -- Joe

    Cameron Lackpour,
    That's what I was thinking, pretty much. Network routing of different packet types or something that I don't know enough about to fully articulate. Or SmartView itself, somehow.
    Knowing that the Essbase add-in (is a qualifier actually needed?) communicates directly to the Essbase server via TCP/IP and SmartView communicates via HTTP to the APS server, I was unable to fully eliminate network even when I got fast responses via the add-in. And I didn't know what to make of the Planning web interface (IE7) working fine, since SV uses IE components in the background. That's HTTP, too, to the same server as APS, but a different port.
    We had a network guy on it and the whole network team brainstorming. They found nothing. So... still puzzling it out. Almost certain I had the unfortunate coincidence that the two people with problem machines were both in remote locations, meaning the whole network thing is a red herring and their computers just suck (or need rebooting or have some obscure Excel option turned on or whatever the case may be).
    That's actually good news, because the alternative is remote planners all over the country unable to work because of some unknown problem. Plus, I'd have to answer for not discovering it in testing.

    Hello,
    I'm not aware of any EPM specific demo environments that are open to connections. You could download the 11.1.1.7.1 OBI Sample App and include the EPM instance - and then connect to this instance of EPM.

  • DNS set up when not distributing dns

    Ok it's not clear but let me try, I am in a place where they give me an ip address and my domain names come from godaddy and are directed from there. sorry I'm french. Here's my question,
    Do I need to setup DNS on leopard server if I want to use all the services, open dir, qtss , podcast producer ect. or since I don't distribute dns, can I not use the dns service.
    I'm not sure I expressed my self properly so ask questions if you need to know more.

    If you want to run your own directory service for your clients then you SHOULD run your own DNS server. This is essential if you're setting up your server in a private-class network (e.g. 10.1.x.x or 192.168.x.x) since GoDaddy are not going to be able to resolve your internal hostname(s).
    The fact that no external users will ever query your server for DNS lookups doesn't matter - your own machine will and that's what counts.
