SmartView 11.1.2.2 Issue

Hi,
We are connecting to Hyperion Planning through Smartview (we are in version 11.1.2.2) and when we expand the task List and try to open any of the task it is taking around 10-15 min to open the task which is not acceptable by the business users and we want to reduce the time. The same is happening with the all the dataforms and all the task list and with all the planning applications. Can you let us know how to reduce this time.

if you observe the time once I click on the tasklist it took 14 min to open the task list.

In our experience, unlike the Shared Connection each Private connection has its own URL. So for Planning we use http://ServerName:Port/HyperionPlanning/SmartView
I like being able to use Private connections as I do a lot of work between environments. With the private connections I can have a report open in Dev, Stage, and/or Prod don't have to switch the URL that SmartView uses.

Smartview tab and Adhoc Analysis Issue

Hi,
I am unable to see the smartview(Hyperion) tab in Excel , how ever i can see the options to connect Datasources and i can see the all other smartview options in in excel window, but when i select one of the planning type(Datasource) and then i clicked on Adhoc Analysis, but after i click on Adhoc Analysis, i can not see anything is come up.
Also i checked registering .dll file and rebooted my machine but that did not work for me
I tried to uninstall and install smartview couple of times but no luck
Please suggest how do i get this Hyperion tab in Excel.( but i can see the Hyperion tab is available in othe MS products-word and PPT)

Check in excel option Smartview is not disabled it should not be under disabled application addin.

Smartview for Office 11.1.2 and Office 2010 (64 bit)

Hi to all,
does anyone have some experiences if Smart View for Office works with Office 2010 in an 64bit environment? I know this is not yet officially supported, but what could be possible issues?

The short answer is no it's not supported -- I put in an enhancement request for this support probably 6 months ago.

Uli, you should probably post this thread in the SmartView forum where some of the Oracle SmartView development team read; the issue is a 64-bit add-in is a separate code-line from a 32-bit add-in; this means going forward when/if Oracle begins supporting 64-bit Office they will have a code base for 32-bit and one for 64-bit which is additional over-head across the board.

Smart view refresh versus Excel Retrieve

Good morning
we are currently converting our users from the old Excel essbase add-in to the new Smartview. We are having issues with some of our users when converting. Some of them were creating retrieves in their excel tabs, HIGHLIGHTING a section, doing their retrieves. This allowed them to keep any non essbase verbage they had on their spreadsheet (so they would not get the retrieve error messages). It appears with Smartview, that you cannot do this as highlighting a section now tells it you want to log into multiple cubes. Can anyone verify for me that highlighting and retrieving in smartview is no longer allowed?

Prashanth, I think I definitely missed the part where it shows highlight and retrieving (I could see the multi grid, however that is not what highlight and retrieve is)
Consider this scenario
I've an excel sheet which goes from A1:D13 (that is my used range)
Are you saying that I can highlight a1:d6 and perform a retrieve and Smart View will only pull a1:d6? (which is not the case in 11.1.2.2.310, it refreshes full sheet)

Text format appears to be diffrent while retrieving from FR

Hi All,
We have a Financial report , designed with the help of FR studio. One of Columns of this FR is named "Affiliate Id " Which is pulling a unique ID for different companies. These Affiliate Ids are being pulled out from a data form where the entries are being submitted with the help of Smartview / Workspace.
Now the issue is that when FR is Run then the Affiliate Ids are Displayed in the following form: i mean the numeric values are being displayed Upto 6 decimal Places which is not the Way its should be and we want it to be without any decimal value as they are submitte in data form without any decimal value.Irony is that in the same FR we are getting the values in one another column(Governmenr Id) in proper way( Shown Below )

In both The Columns, Values are being pulled as celltext and formulaes being used are:

So Please help in knowing that what may be the possible cause of Affiliated ID being deisplayed with such huge decimal values how i can correct that, through FR studio or from workspace/ Data form from where it is being pulled.
Note:Even if we See the Affiliated ID in data form after submitting and refreshing, its picking decimal places there also same way.

Sorry for the confusion.
Yes We are submitting cell text.
For non-numeric data, we dont have any issue. Like if we submit "Aff ID Undefined",then its been shown in FR without any issue.
But When any numeric value is pulled in FR, that comes with 6 decimal places like 1234 shows as 1234.000000. You can see the below pattern(directly copied from FR)

Note: Issue is specifically with the Cell text submitted in data form through smartview/Excel. If we submit thorugh workspace, then we dont face this issue.

Issue with exporting Financial Report in Smartview 11.1.2.2

If I export a FR in "Export in query Mode" , it concatenates the parent with the child (parent.child) and does not return anything in Smartview. Even though the report works fine in workspace.
I narrowed down the issue and it seems if I use Stored member roll up instead of using Shared member roll up it returns the right data when I export the report in Smartview.
So the issue is only with the FR using Shared members.
Does anyone know if this is a known issue or can replicate this in their environment ? We are on version 11.1.2.2

Nope that didn't work, but I figured out the error. I was running the command on a client machine. When I run the command on the server itself, it works fine.. well, now I have issues with my POVs, but at least it's finding my .csc file.

Smartview 11.1.2.1 In Excel accessing Issue

Hi ,
In my Essbase server smartview worked perfectly upto 3 months.
Afterwards i am unable to see "Hyperion Smartview" ribbon under Excel office menu tabs.
Reinstalled Ms office 2007 and Smarview eventhough i did not get SV Ribbon and features in excel.
But its working fine in client systems except Essbase Installed server.
Help me to know the reason and how do i fix it ?

Due to Ms office application related issue Smartview was disabled
Now it fixed by total cleanup of Ms Office and installed Ms office and SV then enable with above instructions sent by Jasmine Pauline.

SmartView 11.1.2.2.300-issues

We are using SmartView 11.1.2.2.300(along with essbase version 11.1.2.1 in the background), and we are facing several issues for which Oracle hasn't been able to provide a resolution so far. So, I thought of checking with other users' experience here:
Whenever we try to zoom in to bottom level or all levels, we get the following error:
"The request timed out. Please contact your administrator to increase the netdelay and netretrycount settings".
Here is what we have tried(in vain) so far:
1.In httpd.conf file:
Timeout 6000
KeepAliveTimeout 150
2. In essbase.properties file Change this:
olap.server.netSocketTimeOut=2000
For version 11.1.2.x, the default location is "\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem1\httpConfig\ohs\config\OHS\ohs_component"
3. HYSLWeblogic.conf/mod_wl_ohs.conf (see above for version/locations):
Append the following to the APS configuration setting:
<LocationMatch^ /aps>
SetHandler weblogic-handler
WeblogicCluster servername:13080
Idempotent OFF
WLSocketTimeoutSecs 6000
</LocationMatch>
4.In essbase.properties file, please make the following changes.
olap.server.netSocketTimeOut=2000
5. I would suggest you to increase the value of the below DWORD to 600000 (in milliseconds) and reboot the client machine.
a. KeepAliveTimeout
b. ServerInfoTimeout
6. Please try increasing the Netdelay to 2000 and Netretrycount to 2500 on both Essbase and APS server and restart the services respectively and verify the status of the issue.
We still get the error. We have our essbase(and APS) on Virtual machines. Has anybody seen this kind of behavior before?
I remember fixing the same issue in Smartview version: 11.1.2.0, with solution number 6 above.

Smartview BI Prompt report issue

Hi friends,
Im in obiee 11.1.1.7 where i downloaded smartview plugin for my 32 bit windows machine and established connection to the BI catalog to access the BI objects.
Now i can access the catalog objects in smartview and can created reports within the smartview and also i can see the saved report from the smartview in BI(back). Suppose if i saved a report with a prompt in bi and if i open the same prompted report in smartview(i.e) if i clicked the prompted report in smartview it is not asking for the prompt dialog box instead it is returning the below error in smart view like
Object reference not set to an instance of an object
What could be the reason behind the above error and how to fix the above issue friends.

Hi,
Can you please check by using Run Time Prompt variable for the same. Also try to disable and enable the Smartview addin. If this do not work then try with a different Smartview Version.

HFM Smartview connection issue. error 404

Hi,
I am getting error while connecting to the smartview to my HFM Applications
error" Can not connect to the provider.Make sure it is running in the specified host/port.Error: 404

Smartview Version 11.1.2 - Performance issue

I have installed Smartview on couple of User machines and everyone is having same issue. We are using Smartview for Hyperion Planning.
Installation was fine and I can connect to Hyperion Planning application but after installation users now having lot of issues using Excel.
Its taking too long when are switching between the sheet, too long to open excel, its doing all the calculations on sheets whenever user clicks on the sheet.
If this has something to do with the memory on their machines or something else causing this issue.
Please help me as this is a major issue and effecting lot of users.

Unless I'm going down the wrong path here...
The issue you are running into is a performance limitation of Excel, likely not impacted by the lack of another Gigabyte of available memory.
If the laptop policies prevent your users from saving this setting, I encourage you to take that up with your admins. IMHO setting a policy that prevents disabling autocalc is utterly useless and by virtue of common sense, must be a mistake.
If this option is not available to you, then consider designing Smart View sheets with fewer calculated cells.

Smartview retrive issue

Hi all,
We are currently running the following Hyperion Smartview Connect Client “9.3.1.5 Client”
We are having some issues when trying to substitute the #Missing data with a 0 in the Hyperion Options. It does not allow us to put this numerical value and therefore the formulas do not work properly. I am wondering if there is a fix for this, or if there might be a new version of the client that would allow us to do this. We are currently running this on Excel 2007.
If we leave it blank, the results in excel file is not populating the totals when the data is zero.
Can anyone give suggestion to resolve this issue, Thanks in Advance

It's working fine with version 9.2 and 11.1 of smartview and formulas are preserved.

Smartview connection issue

While connecting to Smartview, the connection gets hanged. Window for User Id and Password never pop's up . There are no error messages displayed and no errors in Smartview log file. This happens for all the users.
Any idea's what could be the issue here?

We just upgraded from 11.1.2.0 to 11.1.2.1 and are facing the same issue. I haven't found any reference to ER 8246706: CANNOT SUBMIT DATA FROM ADHOC VIEW FOR A MULTICURRENCY DATA FORM in support.oracle.com or a patch for 11.1.2.1.
Are you aware of any patch available for release 11.1.2.1?

We are in phase of Hyperion Upgrade & go live is in a month. Smartview is throwing connection/failed authentication error when connecting to HFM rest other apps are all fine. Even Admin account throws the same error,
HFM is all fine and same user is able to connect to the apps .
We tried few tips from Knowledge base and yet the error persists. Go live is on hold so are users testing it. its very severe impact for users.

Issues Installing SmartView 11.1.2.2

When I attempt to install SmartView 11.1.2.2, I receive a pop up that says "You must install microsoft office 2010 or later before smartview can be installed". What confuses me is that I have Office 2010 and Office 2007 is not even installed on my machine.
Has anyone ran into this issue? Any thoughts?

Which version are you installing, SmartView.exe or SmartView-x64.exe?
The latter is NOT for a 64 bit operating system but for 64 bit Office so download the 32 bit version and you should be good to go.
