Smartview 9.3 version performing excel functions like addition

Hello All,
Is it possible for me to add up more than one account in a single cell within smartview for hyperion and if so how do i go about it. For example, I want to add up two inventory accounts (Member selection-Account) and show the total in one cell for a particular entity (member selection-Tier) for a given market (member selection-Custom 1). I cant come up with the solution. I dont know if it is something that the query designer or function member can do. I am a regular user and dont have admin rights. thanks, Aby

You would need to use Excel functionality for this. You can use cell functions with Excel formulas to just bring both member on the grid and then use excel formulas.

I think it depend on the version. In older versions Refresh did submit as well. In current versions it does not. To be sure I would test it.

Pages are not loading properly and can't perform simple functions like forwarding e-mail, whats wrong?

When I sign into my Yahoo account the mail page doesn't load correctly and prompts me to turn off automatic updates. I can't send or forward any e-mails in the mail section. When I sign into Facebook I can't poke people back, look at mail friend requests or notifications. And applications don't load at all. When I sign into my checking account I can't view the account page..it's all scrambled. And other web sites are scrambled looking also.

Does Numbers support Excel functions CELL, SUBSTITUTE, and REDIRECT?

Been trying to find the list of Excel-compatible functions but did not succeed. I would like to use Numbers to edit my Excel files in iPad. I often generate reports by pulling data out from a seperate sheet using Excel functions like CELL, SUBSTITUTE, and REDIRECT. I have not purchased Numbers yet, that is why I would like to know where I find the complete list of Excel-compatible functions or at least know if Numbers support these functions. Thank you in advance.

Numbers does support the function substitute()
I did not see the functions cell() and redirect() in the function browser.

I have a problem with layout on excel: all the excel functionality are not avaible, in particular i refer to filter and order.
I try to unprotect excel worksheet but if i use filter i have a lot of problems when save data.

Hi,
just some background information: in BPS Excel is 'controled' via SAPGUI using OLE Automation, i.e. same technique Word uses to control an embedded Excel file. In this mode some Excel features cannot be used.
In addition it is hard to control Excel completely. BPS gets the data from the ABAP back-end and transfers the cells via SAPGUI and OLE Automation to Excel. After this BPS has no control what Excel does with the data. Some Excel functions like 'filter' or 'sort' make it almost impossible to read the data back from Excel in a consistent way. This is why the worksheet is protected by default the these kind of Excel functions lead to problems.
If you save the Excel template without protection in the layout builder it is also not protected at run time of manual planning.
It is also easy to create a button that protects/unprotects the worksheet. A code snippet can be found in the VBA makros SAPAfterDataPut, SAPBeforeDataGet.

As in most cases it is a good choice to use the API with the higher level. For CQ and CRX API, CQ is the highlevel API since it is (partially) based on CRX API. In some cases CQ API eliminates some boilerplate code and/or adds some implicit handling.

How do you export the contains to Excel ? Do you have control on it ? If you can modify your program which made the export to local disk drive (\\TSClient\C\etc) then you can use another program like Remote Executer
to send a command to client side to open that Excel file on the local machine. Take a look at

Firefox 21 and Firefox 22 running on Windows 7 have been reported to take a long time to "wake up" from sleep. I realize hibernation is different than sleep, but... this is the closest match for your description.
Some users have reported that this problem is resolved in Firefox 23 (currently in beta). Others have had inconsistent luck with minimizing Firefox before letting Windows sleep and other measures.

The fact that this just started recently suggests perhaps it is related to another program or update, but I don't think anyone has confirmed the exact interaction that causes the problem.

BusinessObjects SDK - Save as Excel functionality

Hi Experts,
I have a question for anyone experienced with the SDK and the BOBJ apis. We are presenting WEBI reports to Partners, so we want to display the reports without the toolbars and only show the reports. We do not want to confuse them will all the extras :). We have done this, but, we have now been asked to provide the "save as excel" functionality to the users while still keeping all the toolbars hidden. So our goal is to just add our own button that will call the same functionality as file -> save as excel. Does anyone know if there is a specific function we can call from the apis that will perform this action?
Second, and not sure if this is possible or not (hope it is). We also have some xcelsius reports displayed to the user in flash. We would also like to add the same functionality, giving the user the ability to click a button and save as excel. Does anyone know if there is a specific function within the xcelsius specific classes that would allow us to do this as well?

Hi Kevin,
If you are using the Business Objects Enterprise BI 4.0 then you can modify the crystal report viewer format list where you can export to any particular format.

VC Export to Excel Functionality not working

Hi All,
I have an issue an implementing the "Exporting the Table data to Excel."
My VC version is 7.0
Portal version NW 2004s.
I have followed the instructions in the How To doc:

Very strange, as I know there is no ü allowed. There should be used only ASCII.
And if there is a ü, this should translated, e.g. with base64 encoding or sth. like that.

Can I call MS Excel Function in Oracle

Hi everyone,
I prototyped my application in Microsoft Excel. In this prototype, I'm using the BETADIST() function, which returns the cumulative beta probability density function. And, yes, if you're like me, and not a statistician, it's pretty crazy. Just for fun, check out the wikipedia page on it, and you'll see what I mean. Anyway, so now, I'm trying to perform the same functionality as that function in my Oracle APEX 4.0/Oracle 10g-R2 app.
I've studied this function a bunch, and I couldn't find an equivalent function in Oracle to do what this function does. CUME_DIST... nope, DBMS_STATS_FUNC... nope. So, I assumed I would need to figure out what exactly the function does and basically rewirte it in Oracle using PL/SQL. I've already got questions out on Statistics and Excel forums trying to figure that out.
But, before I go any further and reinvent the wheel by coding out the logic embedded in this function (which is very hairy, of course), I wanted to check with you all and see if there's a way to invoke this MS Excel function through Oracle. Not sure if an external procedure can get to an Excel library, or how to do it if it can.
Any ideas?

I'm pretty sure this BETADIST exists in Java already.Not natively I think.
But one can download Cern's COLT Libraries for High Performance Scientific and Technical Computing in Java.

Excel Function iserror is not supported

Hi !
I am using vlookup along with iserror to remove an errors that result of a logical lookup.
For e.g. a sample formula on my sheet would look like
=IF(ISERROR(VLOOKUP(A1,A1:B22,2,0),"",(VLOOKUP(A1,A1:B22,2,0))
Everytime I build a preview, Xcelsius comes back to me with "iserror function not supported". Does Xcelsius not support this function?

Correct, the formula =ISERROR() is not supported in Xcelsius 2008.
For a complete list of all supported formulas, please go to Help --> Xcelsius Help. Then expand the last expandable section called "Supported Excel Functions".
edit: ISERROR is supported from SP1 forward (as noted in Margaret's post). My original post was based off of information from the initial release of Xcelsius 2008.

Is it best to close all apps, install the update, turn the computer off, turn it on and hold down the shift key until the gear and progress bar are showing, when this is finished, do a restart of the computer. I hav always wondered the best way (if there is a best way) to update to a newer version of a browser so you avoid potential problems. Is there a Support Article that goes over installing and updating to a newer version of one's browser, in this case Safari?

Repairing permissions is important, and should always be carried out both before and after any software installation or update.
Go to Disk Utility (this is in your Utilities Folder in your Application folder) and click on the icon of your hard disk (not the one with all the numbers).
In First Aid, click on Repair Permissions.
This only takes a minute or two in Tiger, but much longer in Later versions of OS X.

If you were having any serious problems with your Mac you might as well complete the exercise by repairing your hard disk as well. You cannot do this from the same start-up disk. Reboot from your install disk (holding down the C key). Once it opens, select your language, and then go to Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select your hard disk as before and click Repair.
Once that is complete reboot again from your usual start-up disk.

Excel Function to query BW using Web Services API

Hello,
I need to write an Excel function as an .XLA that will do the following:
It will be invoked like any other Excel function. E.g. =GetCost(param p1, param p2)
This function queries an InfoCube and must return a single numerical value for the Cell in Excel that the function is used in.
I have never done anything like this before. I have done a decent amount of reading to discover the best way to attack this. It seems like the best way to create this functionality is to:
1. create a web service in a BW function group with a function module that is RFC enabled.
2. I'm thinking the function module will use native SQL to query the InfoCube and pull the value and then somehow pass this value to a web service.
3. The value in the web service will be accessed through it's API in Excel/VBA.
I am not sure if this is best way to do this, or if it is even possible to do it this way. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if I am heading down the right path and possibly direct me to a tutorial or other information that would aid in accomplishing this. I have yet to find some type of proof of concept from beginning to end on how to do something like this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can any version of Excel save to a CSV file that is either UTF-8 or UTF-16 encoded (unicode)?

Are there any versions of Excel (chinese, japanese, russian... 2003, 2007, 2010...) that can save CSV files in Unicode (either UTF-8 or UTF-16)?
If not, is the only solution to go with tab-delimited files (save as Unicode-text option)?

I have the same problem. Trying to save my CSV file in UTF8 encoding. After several hours in searching and trying this also in my VSTO Add-In I got nothing. Saving file as Unicode option in Excel creates file as TAB separated. Because I'd like to save the
file in my Add-In application, the best to do is (for my problem) saving file as unicode tab delimited and then replacing all tabs with commas in the file automatically.
I don't think there is a direct way to save CSV as unicode in Excel. And I don't understand why.
