Smartview and IE11/Windows8.1

Hi all
I'm trying to use Financial Reports with Smartview.
I'm using HFM 11.1.2.3.50x and Windows 8.1 with Firefox. Everything works fine but now I need to launch a Financial Report from Excel and I get the script error.
This is known and not supported. Nevertheless, I would like to know if somebody was able to find a work around.
I was testing Enterprise Mode with a SiteList, this works fine for browser access, but not for Smartview,
greetings
Christian

Hi Christian,
Did you get chance to review below documents ?

  • IE10 and IE11 Open and Then Close

Hi.  I am having similar problems with both IE10 and IE11. Both start with blank screen then close without displaying any content  System is W7 64B SP1 with Norton IS.  This problem started just a couple of weeks ago.
    So far:
    - Uninstalled both IE10 and IE11 several times through "View Installed Updates" but with each re-install the problem remains.  IE9 works fine.
    - Ran sfc /scannow and all files are okay.
    - Have Reset through Internet Options, no change.
    - Have re-registered ieproxy.dll, no change.
    - Have scanned for virus and rootkit, nothing identified.
    - Nothing is identified in Event Viewer under Application or System as an error or warning.
IE 10 and IE11 will work with "Enhanced Protection Mode" in Internet Properties but this blocks various Add-Ons that I need.
I am at a complete loss.  Does anyone have further suggestions?
    Thanks.

Hi.  I did have Malware Bytes installed, the AV version only.  Have removed.  Also removed CCCleaner. Still having a problem opening IE10.
Did run ProcMon and there are several items that appear as Buffer Overflow on file openings.

  • Do I need to install flash player using Win 7 Pro and IE11?

    Hi,
    Could I have a definitive yes/no answer to, "Do I need a flash player plug-in when I am using 64 bit Windows 7 Professional SP1 and IE11?"
    I am using IE11 v.11.0.9600.16476
    Flash v.12.0.0.38
I am not, as far as I can see, have any problems viewing anything. But Adobe insist I should be using Flash v.12.0.0.43 and they identify my browser as Gecko.
I understand that Gecko is usually identified as Firefox but is it correctly identified as IE?
Windows 8.1 with IE11 states that it is a plug-in less browser; but is Windows 7 with IE11 plug-in less or not...???
    Very confusing!
    Regards.

Flash Player for IE is integrated by Microsoft with Windows 8 and 8.1 only... IE11 is a "rolling train wreck", though. Almost NOTHING on the web can properly identify it if it can be identified at all.  As long as your current Flash Player is working, I'd "let a sleeping dog lie". Until you NEED to update it, don't with IE11.
With WIn 8.1 it's the worst combination in all computing history. Be glad you still have 7.

  • Multiple file upload not working in IE10 and IE11

    Hi,
As per the UI5 documentation( https://sapui5.hana.ondemand.com/sdk/#test-resources/sap/ui/commons/demokit/FileUploader.html) , UI5 supports multiple file uploading for IE10 and IE11. I set the "multiple: true" flag in the fileuploader example page and the file browser dialog is not allowing to select multiple files. Does UI5 provide multi file upload support for IE10 and IE11 or am i missing anything ?
    regards
    Raja

    Huh?
Your problem makes no sense. The filename is included with the upload so that the server knows what the file was originally called. Are you running the JSP locally and reading the file directly off the hard drive??
I note also that you aren't using a multipart form, which is required to upload a file.
    <form action="uploadFile.jsp" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data">
      <input type="file" name="upload" value="<%= fileName %>" />
</form>You'll need to use the Jakarta Commons FileUpload class to correctly process a form encoded with "multipart/form-data" or getParameter("xxx") will return null. You can also use the older com.oreilly.servlet.MultipartForm or whatever it's called. I'm pretty certain that the Jakarta Commons obsoletes all the COS classes.

I wanted to know why is this behaviour and if the code is same then the output should also be the same. can anyone help me to understand this behaviour?
thank you very much in advance for your replies.

    Hi yashajmera,
Same script gets different results ,just as Greg said this may be related to the different rendering pages methods between different Internet Explorer versions.
Here is a link for reference :

We also can try to choose different view mode by F12 tool to have a check .
To get more detailed information ,it is recommended to look for help from our MSDN forum for help.

  • Site doesn't display properly when viewed in Windows 8.1 and IE11

Web site doesn't display properly when viewed in Windows 8.1 and IE11. Site html and css validates no errors at W3C. Any ideas?

The following is what I see in IE11 on a Windows 8.1 system, no difference using Firefox, Chrome or Safari on the same system.

  • IE10 and IE11 BUG: clipboard data modified when pasted into TEXTAREA

When pasting certain text into a TEXTAREA under IE 10.0.9200.16921 in compatibility mode, IE10 changes the data - sometimes (mysteriously and randomly about half the time).
The following test web page demonstrates how to reproduce this problem:
    <html>
    <head><title>Test IE10 paste bug 20140616</title></head>
    <body>
    <h1>Test IE10 paste bug 20140616</h1>
    <h2>How to reproduce the bug:</h2>
    <ol>
    <li>Turn on compatibility mode.</li>
<li>Select the full contents of the textbox below (two lines).</li>
<li>Copy the contents of the textbox below into the Windows clipboard.</li>
<li>Delete the contents of the textbox.</li>
<li>Paste the clipboard contents back into the textbox.</li>
<li>The lowercase "i" at the end will mysteriously (and randomly) be
capitalized to "I" (about half the time).</li>
    </ol>
    <p><textarea>/*#!!#*/
    i;</textarea></p>
    </body>
    </html>
    What is happening here?
Does this happen with other versions of IE? (I only have access to IE5.5, IE6, IE9 and IE10 - only IE10 exhibits this problem so far.)
I'm developing a simple javascript web application that needs to run accurately in all versions of all browsers - IE10 appears to have a pretty severe bug here.
Update 2014-06-16 12pm MDT: Another user has reported this behavior running Win7, IE v 11.0.9600 as well. Have updated the title to include IE11 as being affected.

It appears that this behavior is due to the automatic spelling correction "feature" of IE10. The above mentioned (erroneous) behavior can be avoided by doing one of three things (there may be more but these are the ones I've found so far):
    1. Turn off auto spelling correction entirely by un-checking the following checkbox:
IE Menu -> Tools -> Manage add-ons -> Spelling correction -> Enable spelling correction.
    2. Turn off compatibility mode.
    3. Add a 'spellcheck=false' property to the TEXTAREA element start tag.
Note that the last option is not available for pages written in valid XHTML 1.0 Strict because "spellcheck" is not a valid XHTML property for the TEXTAREA element.
Some might say: "What's the problem? All its doing is fixing your typing errors. This isn't a bug at all."
The problem is that not all data being pasted into a TEXTAREA is English text. Sometimes the data is very precise and must not be "corrected" by the browser. In my case, the data being pasted into the textbox is a (very precise) regular expression
statement, (e.g. "var myre = /complex-regex-here/i;"), and IE10 (and IE11) are automatically (and erroneously) changing the "i" modifier to "I" which makes the statement invalid.
IMHO, this is certainly a BUG and unfortunately, I'm going to have to deal with it with an explanation to my users that the default behavior of IE10 and IE11 may cause their data to become corrupted.

  • Essbase connection w.r.t Smartview and Excel add-in

donno if this is the right place for this thread, I thought planning experts are experienced with both smartview and excel add-ins
what is the protocol used behind the scene in both ways (HTTP, RMI, TCO/IP) and which one takes less resources and works faster
to serve better interms of performance while connected to essbase? that I know we add URL for conneceting to essbase thru aps for a
smartview essbase connection and we directly connect to essbase in essbase excel add-in connection.
    any help is much appreciated!
    -Ram

I think Essbase Excel add-in connects through TCP/IP whereas Smartview connects via web services (http).
Excel add-in should be faster as it speaks directly with Essbase as opposed to Smartview which connects Essbase through another service (APS). But Smartview comes with its own advantages (i.e. better integration, smoother user experience etc.)
    Cheers,

If you go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ while using Internet Explorer your browser should be noted as MSIE.  If not you have something wrong with your system.  You may have some malware on
your system to cause a false indication.
I am using IE11 and when I use Adobe it identifies my browser as Gecko and not MSIE.
    Mozilla/5.0 (IE 11.0; Windows NT 6.3; Trident/7.0; .NET4.0E; .NET4.0C; rv11.0) like Gecko
By the way my system is clear of malware.
May I ask again do use the version of flash that Adobe says is compatible with IE or the version that is for plugin based browsers? Or to put it another way is IE11 in Win 7 a plugin less browser?

  • Flash player is not working with windows 8.1 and ie11

I am so tired of the message to remove active x or enable flash player. On windows 8.1 the next message is that flash player is embedded in 8.1. I also have ie 11 and had to load Google Chrome because my Media Player does not gee haw with 8.1. If I had not bought a new PC with 8 loaded believe me I would still have windows 7 or the windows 2010 Home and Student. Tell me please what to do.

IE11 is a "Rolling Train Wreck". Combined with 8.1 it is, without a doubt, the worst pile of garbage to EVER come out of Redmond, WA.
MS deliberately altered the "User-Agent Strings" to make it nearly IMPOSSIBLE for pages and sites to ID it. (See: IE11's Screwed up User-Agent Strings)
The pages can't recognize the browser, so they don't recognize any of the plugins, like Flash Player. So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon.
Microsoft's recommendation is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using an different browser. Trouble with that is it has seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
    Firefox (from Mozilla)
    Opera (from Opera)
    Safari (from Apple)
    Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

  • Unable to load flash site with Windows 8.1 and IE11

    Hi,
I have spent days trying to get "mypaychex.com" website to load after logging in using Windows 8.1/IE11. The site loads fine in Windows 7 and other browsers but I need it to work with IE 11/8.1. I have tried using compatibility mode, lowered all
security settings, verified shockwave is enabled within the browser, tried various updates as well. I guess this can only be because flash is embedded now with 8.1. Is there a way to disable the Windows 8.1/IE11 embedded flash and have it use the player from
Adobe instead? Anyone have any other suggestions I can try? Or is this a problem with the website itself not compatible? Any help would be appreciated. TIA

KB956196's list of "products that this article applies to" includes IE6-10,
    but not IE11,
and it also does not include Win8.1.
The last review of that KB was Oct 15, 2013.
    Methinks MS should either
update the article to include IE11, if appropriate, or
create a new article that specifically applies to IE11.
And perhaps TechNet Support folks could refrain from applying aged boilerplate answers that reference outdated and perhaps irrelevant KB articles, or explain knowledgably in their responses that, while the article appears to reference older versions, its
steps are still appropriate to follow.
I only mention this because, while there is a wealth of info and useful support at this site, everytime I look and try to specify what I'm using, inevitably and invariably more than half the hits on my query are for either outdated or totally irrelevant
applications. Would that there were filter options (see Amazon searches, lefthand side of screen, where you can narrow things down considerably).
    I'll shut up now.

  • Windows 8.1 and IE11 - Critical Error: Object doesn't support property or method 'addEventListener'

Our SharePoint 2010 sites don't work very well in Windows 8.1/IE11!!
When opening list items or forms etc we get Critical Error : Object doesn't support property or method 'addEventListener'. It looks like it's possibly linked to InfoPath forms. Given that a large chunk of our users will probably be upgrading
to Windows 8.1 as we speak this is slightly worrying!
Has anyone else noticed this, or is it something to do with our deployment?  We're running SP2010 SP2 with latest CU.

In older versions of IE, attachEvent is
used to attach an event handler for some event on some element. But as per the update , starting with IE11, attachEvent is
deprecated and you should use addEventListener instead.
IE has included support for addEventListener from
IE9 and above only. So if you still need to support IE8, I suggest you use some cross-browser library like jQuery to bind event handlers instead of vanilla javascript.
As you're already using jQuery, you can bind events like below
    $('#yourElement').on('click', function(){
// do something when you click on yourElement

  • Report Viewer 2012 and IE11 Height

I have a reportviewer control (local report) in a .ASPX page.  When I test this page on IE11 the browser is ignoring the height that I give the control.  I'm not trying to make the height of the report 100% or anything, I'm setting it to a
    static value of 500px.
In all other browsers, including IE10, it works as expected (the report is 500px in height and I see a scollbar on the right).  In IE11, it's as if I didn't set the height at all.
I've placed this report into a blank .ASPX page (to eliminate the possibility of some conflicting CSS from my master page).  I've tried changing the values for AsynchRendering and SizeToReportContent as suggested but it does not help.  I'm running
the latest version of the reportviewer distributable.  Has anyone else had this issue?
FYI, If I use the IE Developer tools I can find a deeply nested DIV (inside of the DIV that has my 500px height) whose height is set to 100%.  If I change that manually (using the dev tools) it makes the report behave as expected.  I
could override the height of that div using CSS but the div's name (generated by the reportviewer control) is generated dynamically and this solution would fail eventually.
    UPDATE
Viewing the page in Compatibility View fixes the height issue, but is not a viable solution for the site in which the control needs to reside.

Hello, do you have find a fix because I've the same problem for my users
We had upgrated from IE9 to IE11 and we are problems with scroll.....

  • SmartView and File not found: HsAddin

    Hello Guys,
I have reinstalled SmartView twice and done the following trick as well:
    1.Copy the HsAddIn.dll, HsSpread.dll, HyperionSmartTag.dll and HsTbar.xla from the Bin folder.
    Path : <Drive:>\Hyperion\SmartView\Bin
    2. Paste it on the Add Ins folder for that user.
    Path : C:\document and settings\<User>\ApplicationData\Microsoft\AddIns
    Then,
    Start -- Run -- regsvr32(space)--drag the HsAddIn.dll to re-register it.
Go to Tools -- AddIns --Browser for HsTbar.xla in the AddIns folder and then click ok.
But I still get the error:
    File not found: HsAddin
When I add the add-in in MS Excel and click on of the SmartView buttons (the Hyperion Toolbar
    does not show).
    Any ideas?
I am using Hyperion Smart View for Office Release 9.3.1.2 Microsoft Windows x86 Installer
Edited by: metalray on 19-Mar-2009 06:43

I had the same exact problem with a particular user. It has something to do with excel. If you google the error you will find it. To get around the error, I copied the dll to the "System32" folder and registered it. Although the intent is for the addin to be in the Hyperion folder the user has not had a problem since placing the dll in the windows root folder.
    I hope that helps.
