SmartView - Error when i drill down many records
Hi,
Our users are currently receiving the error "Invalid Pointer", when trying to refresh Smart View reports or when users are trying to drill down.
Do you know how many records can i see using drill down in smart view.
And if this number of records can be change?
Thanks!
If you're just trying to increase the number of rows that can be retrieved, see: Maximum rows exceed in SmartView
Do you get an error in the applicaiton log? Essbase log? I ask because I wonder if the error is SmartView/Hyperion Provider Services related or from the database.

Missing records when performing drill down in Webi
Hello everyone!
I have a Webi report over a OLAP universe (BEx query), in which I have, among other objects, company code, wage type with hierarchy and personnel number.
I want to build a report with the following layout:
Company code 1 | Employee 1 | Wage type hierarchy | Amount
With this layout, when I try to drill down through the wage type hierarchy, the displayed values are not correct (some records are apparently missing).
When I remove personnel number from both query and report, the displayed values are correct.
Has anyone encontered a similar issue?
Thanks in advance for your responses!
-Luís.Hi all,
Turns out that our backend BW system was seriously outdated. There has been recently many corrections to the MDX interface. We have updated our service packs and this has resolved our issue.
Thank you all for your help. Points assigned

Bex report issue - no applicable data found when we drill down on free char
Hi All,
We are facing some strange issue with one of the report.
when user run the report for a week (02/02/2009 - 02/08/2009) and then drill down on particular char its working fine (first time).after that when he is trying to change and execute the report for other week on the same instence ( 02/09/2008 - 02/15/2009) by clicking on refresh and passing new values to the variable its showing up correctly at the time of drill down on free char its showing as *no applicable data found.*
when he logoff the system completey and run the report for the week( 02/09/2008 - 02/15/2009) values it is showing up with values even tough he drill down on free char.
issue basically when he was trying to drill on free char by chaging different date values in the same instance by clicking on refreh and by entering diffrent values its showing up as not applicable data found.
but when he enters the values for different weeks each time by closing the system and relogin report is working fine and showing up data eventough he drill down on free char.
Please help me out!Dear
Please check if any condition or exception you have created for that query.

If you right-clic on the time scale you can set the time/date format, I assume this is the way you should follow to add the "day of month in the time stamp.
Hope this help

Hello! Users are trying to submit data within a form, but they get the following error message:
<<The cell or chart that you are trying to change is protected and therefore read-only. To modify a protected cell or chart, first remove protection using the Unprotectect Sheet command (Review tab, changes group). You may be prompted for a password.>>
They get the same error when they try to refresh the form.
The form is part of a task-list, but is not supposed to be protected. Actually they open the form from an empty excel workbook, so I don't understand what's the difference with other forms, where they don't have this message.
Do you have an idea of what is triggering it?Users were in Smartview 11.1.2.1. The issue described above has been identifed as a software defect an it has been logged as bug 16017903 by Oracle. To solve this issue download and install Patch 16238382, or alternatively unistall Smartview and install version 11.1.2.2.310.

Maintain Columns for Higher Levels in Hierarchy when using Drill Down
Hello all,
I've searched through this forum looking for an answer to this, since I thought it might be a common question, but I wasn't able to find any related content. So I apologize if this has already been answered in the past.
I would like to know if when drilling down in a WEBI report, it is possible to automatically add dimension columns to a report as you drill down to the lower levels in the heirarchy, and keep the columns with the higher level dimension values, rather than replace those columns, which is the default behavior. As a simple example, suppose I have the following columns in a report:
Product Sales Amount
Now suppose I have set up a heirarchy in the Universe with Product, Sub-Product, then Region, in that order. In the WEBI report with the drill filter options enabled, when I click on the Product link, the default behavior is to replace the Product column with the Sub-Product dimension and display the following:
Sub-Product Sales Amount
Instead, I would like it to display:
Product Sub-Product Sales Amount
Then subsequently, of course:
Product Sub-Product Region Sales Amount
Does anybody know of a simple way to accomplish this? I suppose this could be accomplished using the openDocument method with links to separate reports showing the addtional columns, but this seems a bit complicated for a relatively smple requirement. I'm hoping that there is an existing simpler solution to this problem. Please advise. Any information would be greatly appreciated.Bernardo,
The drill down capability is vertical and not horizontal. There are two solutions, the one of open document as you mentioned is one. The other solution depends on the way you have deployed your system. If you have given users the capability to run reports in "modify" mode (WebI), then they can insert columns to the grid according to the scenario you mention
Product Sub-Product Sales Amount
and forego using the "drill fiter" per se. If your deployment only permits most users to view the report in "read-only" mode (InfoView), then you have limited options.
Thanks,

Giving error when tried to display 500 records
Hi,
There is a MessageChoice and a table in my OA page.
When I change the MessageChoice value, the coressponding records will display in the table.
It is working fine for few options which have few records.
But for one option there are 500 records, its giving 'Page cannot be displayed' error after some time.
Can anyone help me on this.
ThanksIf your query is taking 6 minutes to execute, then try to tune it. I don't think any user will accept this and moreover its well over the page timeout time limit.

FK problem when inserting one-to-many records
Hi everybody,
I see that this subject has been discussed here from time to time before, as in:
insert record with 1-M mapping missing foreign key using UOW
Sequences and multiple tables for inheritance
I followed Dougs advice on several posts, to check out the employee exampled shipped with Toplink, but regardless of all this information, I'm still stuck.
So, my issue: when I create new objects, add them to some other objects collection, and then call "assign sequence numbers" on all of them, the sequencenumbers are assgned all the way down the hierachy, but the upward links - the foreign keys - are not updated with the ID's of the parent object.
Simple example (might not compile - demo code):
<JAVA>
myInputController.session = (DatabaseSession)
SessionManager.getManager().getSession("some_session");
UnitOfWork myUnitOfWork = myInputController.session.acquireUnitOfWork();
// Father and Child are a Toplink objects, persisted to each their table with a
// FK relation, is now assigned to the UOW
Father myDBFather = (Father) myUnitOfWork.registerObject(new Father());
Child myDBChild = new Child();
myDBFather.getChildCollection().add(myDBChild);
// Now I could use the accessor methods of the Toplink objects to set
// stuff like name, phone number or so, but that's not important for demo.
// I just want to save my objects to the database. To do so, I need to
// assign sequence numbers:
myUnitOfWork.assignSequenceNumbers();
// I check the ID's before writing to DB:
System.out.println(myDBFather.GetId().toString());
System.out.println(myDBChild.GetId().toString());
// They both return valid numbers, similar to what the sequence objects
// of the database should asssign, so that works.
// But:
System.out.println(myDBChild.GetFaterid().toString());
// Will return null, even if myDBChild is a child of myDBFather, and
// hence a commit to the database will fail (no foreign key!).
// I can fix this, by "manually" setting the id:
myDBChild.SetFatherid(myDBFather.getId());
// And then a commit to the database will work:
myUnitOfWork.commit();
// But, since I have deep hierachies, and don't allways know what
// objects have been added/changed, it's a pretty wild thing, not
// to menition un-ellegant and heavy in maintenance, to loop down
// through the entire collection and update all foreign key ID's
// (FatherID's) before committing changes.
</JAVA>
I guess I'm just not hitting the right button somewhere? To create the Toplink Java classes and descriptors, I used "Java objects from tables" in JDev 10.1.2, both "as is", and with some tinkering on indirection, transparency and bi-directional relationships. Also, I get same results in the Toplink 10.1.3 dp4.
I must have missed the answer somewhere out there, but must post after trying really hard!
Best regards to all of you,
:) UlfI could kick myself right now!
The child setFatherid method takes an entire father object, so the code must be myDBChild.SetFatherid(myDBFather); instead of the myDBChild.SetFatherid(myDBFather.getId()); My apologies.
With the issue still very present, I post some code from the auto-generated child-class and the child-class descriptor below, which might give some pointers.

RPC errors when provisioning schedule with many datasets
When adding a dataset to a large schedule, we experience RPC errors as described below.
The target schedule is not changed.
The error appears when the dataset list gets to be around 10KB, e.g.

Any ideas on how we can resolve this?
Thanks,
-pcYou need to file that with Oracle Support as it does sound like a bug.
However, splitting out your backups into individual datasets isn't the usual model. It's better to combine all similar items into a single dataset. I have some very large deployments with no more than 5 datasets per schedule. Typically I combine all similar clients into one dataset file, for example called LINUX and that contains many lines of Linux hosts.
You could also use nested datasets, so your schedule could call a single dataset called sorrento-a and that would "include dataset" to build up the rest of the entries you want. That way your schedule only has to have a few datasets, and you don't have to modify the schedule when you make changes, you just change your datasets.
So I would do this :
schedule calls datasets sorrento-a,sorrento-b,siena-a, siena-b
Dataset sorrento-a :
include dataset /HOSTS/sorrento-a/export/pool-0/cdms_tools
include dataset /HOSTS/sorrento-a/export/pool-0/cr-db
include dataset /HOSTS/sorrento-a/export/pool-0/datools
include dataset /HOSTS/sorrento-a/export/pool-0/datools-rw
Dataset sorrento-b :
include dataset /HOSTS/sorrento-b/export/pool-1/tahoe-lib-work2
Dataset sienna-b :
include dataset /HOSTS/siena-b/export/pool-1/vt40-lib-ref
include dataset /HOSTS/siena-b/export/pool-1/vt40-lib-work1

Error when drilldown to ODS report
Hello,
We face a strange problem.
We have a report on an ODS (BW 3.5). If fiscal yr/period parameter range of the report includes 003/2006 or 003/2007 (March of 2006 or 2007) we encounter an error when we drill down by fiscal yr/period. The error is as follows: SQL Error: 600
System error: RSDRC / FORM DATA_GET_ODS ERROR IN RSDRO_READ_ODS_DATA 0FIGL_O02 99
Double click on error message gives the following: Diagnosis
A system error with the following parameters has occurred in the data manager:
Parameter 1 = &v1&
Parameter 2 = &v2&
Parameter 3 = &v3&
Parameter 4 = &v4&
The error doesn't appear when the report is run for other periods and drill down occurs.
can someone through some light on what might be the problem and what may resolve the issue?
Thanks ...Hi,
did you check the hereunder OSS note?

Error when Drill down on top level of hierarchy node
Hi Gurus,
The following error occurs when I drill down to a "Actual Line items sub report" using the "top node" of an hierarchy based report .
But, the same drill down works fine when I drill down using the very sub level of the same hierarchy (without any further levels of hierarchies).
System error in program SAPLRRK0 and form NACHLESEN_INIT_NODE-01-
Any help or work around suggestion would be highly appreciated.
Thanks

Thanks for the start.
But, My Hierarchy is already active.

Hi, I'm having an error on Discoverer Viewer (Release 4.1.44) when I try to Drill down on an element. The drill down functionality works ok, except when the drill down elements are too many and needs to be drawn on Next Page. In that case I got an error ("The page cannot be display").
Anybody had that problem, or knows why it is happening?
Thanks in advance
IvoThough I cannot say without investigating this if this is a bug or due to some other issue, the first advice would be for you to upgrade to the latest patchset, 4.1.48 or later. There is a good chance that this issue, if a bug, may have been fixed in a subsequent release.
The other option would be to take a look at Metalink.Oracle.com and see this issue has been reported earlier.
Thanks

M heirarchy is

When i drill down on reckey, it shows only the detailkey and not oher columns. Is there something i am missing here. The physical and logical table has detailkey as the primamykeyYou have a beautiful example in the Oracle By Example Series here :
