Smartview error

Hello, I have a wierd issue with my Smartview. We have a Planning application called 'Forecast'. When a user tries to connect to the smartview with excel and open the list of applications, they see two applications one is "FORECAST" all in caps and other is "forecast" all in small case. When they open, both have same forms and details.
In reality we have only 1 application called 'Forecast'. Am not sure why is it happening and how can I avoid this.
Please advice.

In Planning App, there are what is called Application Name, and Plan Type.
I guess the first one is Application Name: FORECAST
The second one is Database / Plan Type: forecast
When you setup a smartview connection for planning, it doesn't matter if you select the Application Name or Plan Type, it will be the same.
When you setup a smartview connection to retrieve data from the database, then you need to select the Database / Plan Type.

I am having an issue retrieving on a SmartView grid running 11.1.2.2.309.01 and SmartView 11.1.2.2.102.I have a grid with three attribute dimension and, at first it was long running and gave me a netretry netinterval error. I shared with my administrator and, they gave me the registry updates to increase my timeout for my default browser. Now, I try to retrieve the same sheet and after approximately five minutes, I get the message, "Smartview Error: "Cannot Connect to Provider. Make Sure It Is Running in the Specified Host/Port (503)". I am not sure what this means. I can retrieve on other grids with one attribute dimension or a regular retrieve but, for some reason, I notice when I retrieve on multiple attribute dimensions, I am having this issue. I had this tested with others and, they are experiencing the same result. Any thoughts. Thanks in advance

The timeout was updated to 7 minutes but, the timeout on the APS was never updated. What happened was there was a 7,000 member dimension where attributes where being used to build a retrieve. The attributes were what was causing the issue. Not to say you should not use attributes. Ultimately, an alternate hierarchy in the 7,000 member dimension will help but, I used other members to get the results I need. I just never saw the error message before and, did not see it in oracle support.. Thanks.

Hi Everyone,
Please provide me a solution for this.
One of the users is encountering the above issue when he connects the Smartview templates, we have implemented the steps in which specified as per "Hyperion Financial Management for SmartView Error "Unknown Error in HFMProviderData at the root level is invalid. Line 1, position 1" (Doc ID 1361427.1)"
but unfortunately still the same user facing with same error when he tries to connect HFM app over template and after implemeted the steps as per above Oracle Doc ID, there is no "UserMbrSel" USERPARAMS existing on checks at HFM schema level.

SmartView Error - "The data entered is wrong"

There is an alert in Smart View Ad Hoc that appears intermittently that says "The data entered is wrong, so it will revert back to the previous value". What causes this and what is the resolution?
I realize this question was already asked but I didn't see an answer.

There are many many forums on OTN, so new users really need to take a look around, use the Search or some other method of finding the right forum or category of forums. This forum is Community related and "for feedback about OTN ...", not the right place for having a discussion on how to resolve Smartview errors, which I think was the point of previous response.

Has anyone gotten a Smartview error when saving a spreadsheet of: Failed to Save data on the worksheet?
If so was there any resolution to the error?

We are on 9.3.3 planning.our web server is WebSphere

You might want to increase the timeout and check:
Smartview in Excel utilizes some Microsoft settings that it obtains From IE. When running on IE 7 or higher there are new settings that have a low default time out. You can increase these by following the instructions in the articles listed below

Make sure you have a safe backup of the windows registry before you do this .
1. Open the Registry (Start -> Run -> Regedit)
2. Locate the following section:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\
3. Create the following new keys for DWORD with Hexadecimal values:
ReceiveTimeout and set it to 00dbba00
KeepAliveTimeout and set it to 00180000
ServerInfoTimeout and set it to 00180000
4.Disconnect and close the Smartview and launch a fresh connection

Smartview error when submitting/refreshing: "The cell or chart that you are trying to change is protected"

Hello! Users are trying to submit data within a form, but they get the following error message:
<<The cell or chart that you are trying to change is protected and therefore read-only. To modify a protected cell or chart, first remove protection using the Unprotectect Sheet command (Review tab, changes group). You may be prompted for a password.>>
They get the same error when they try to refresh the form.
The form is part of a task-list, but is not supposed to be protected. Actually they open the form from an empty excel workbook, so I don't understand what's the difference with other forms, where they don't have this message.
Do you have an idea of what is triggering it?

Users were in Smartview 11.1.2.1. The issue described above has been identifed as a software defect an it has been logged as bug 16017903 by Oracle. To solve this issue download and install Patch 16238382, or alternatively unistall Smartview and install version 11.1.2.2.310.

Smartview Error V11.1.2.1 Addin Class

I have a user who has just installed Smartview V11.1.2.1 after de-installing v9.3, when they open Excel they get an Addin Class error message displayed.
They have de-installed and re-installed three times with admin rights, and still the same error message. The version of Excel is 2007 and the OS is XP.
Has anyone had the same issue, I cannot find any other threads with the same error message.

Give all users of Smart View full access to the following registry key on the server: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData

HFM Smartview error

I am getting the following error while connecting to Smartview.
exception errorcode = 10002 native = 2147192496 type = error
desc = Unkown error has occured during xml parsing at line {0} and column {1}
details from = HFMProviderInternal.cs.Execute Root Element is missing
Any ideas what could be the issue here?

Try uninstalling the addin, then install using the executable not just the xla file.

SmartView - Error when i drill down many records

Hi,
Our users are currently receiving the error "Invalid Pointer", when trying to refresh Smart View reports or when users are trying to drill down.
Do you know how many records can i see using drill down in smart view.
And if this number of records can be change?

If you're just trying to increase the number of rows that can be retrieved, see: Maximum rows exceed in SmartView
Do you get an error in the applicaiton log? Essbase log? I ask because I wonder if the error is SmartView/Hyperion Provider Services related or from the database.

Smartview errors

I've been changing a number of settings on my pc in order to get FR to work properly. In doing so I have inadvertantly broken Smartview. I have uninstalled the addin and reinstalled it numerous times to try and fix the problem with no luck. When I open excel and choose the addin, the toolbar will display, but the "Hyperion" menu item will not be added to the menu bar. If I hover over any of the Smartview Toolbar items the description boxes that appear say "Error". Also, if I choose View>Toolbars from the menu bar it says "Error" where it should say "Hyperion Smartview for Office". I've also received errors stating that "HSAddin could not be found", though I can't remember what I did to get those errors. I believe this is referring to an Object variable within the coding and not the assembly stored on my hard drive.
The changes I have made were to the registry and the COM/DCOM configurations. I've tried going through and comparing my registry/COM/DCOM configs to a PC where Smartview works properly, but I haven't noticed anything out of place. Does anyone have any ideas on how to remedy this issue?

Enable any of the smartview components/dlls you see.
Make sure Smart View is still enabled in the Add Ins. Close and restart Excel. (Might need to close all office applications.)
If this isn't the problem, then we can start from the ground up.

Drill through from smartview error

Hi all,
I did import-export actual data from FDM to Hyperion Planning. But when I do drill through from Smartview, I threw 2 error messages
- Error: No application name was specified
- Error: Unable to cast object of type 'System.Boolean' to type 'upsAppServerDM.clsAppServerDM'.
Detail: Stacktrace:
Hyperion.FDM.AuthorizedPages.IntersectionSummaryByLocationPage.Page_Load(sender[Object], e[EventArgs])

Please make sure you are using an IE based browser ... not FireFox. Just because Planning/Workspace supports them; does not mean FDM does.
Also can you please highlight the steps you are taking to perform the drillback as there are known issues with certain menu functions as well.

SmartView Error XML top level element

Hi Guys,
hopefully someone of you can help me with this issue. On some PCs(not all, but same OS and configuration) we get this error message when we are trying to connect to essbase with Smart View 9.1.3.5.
The funny thing is we tried to document the https traffic with the fiddler tool, this tool asked us to install its own untrusted certificate. After this installation, the connection works, even if we deinstall the certificates and fiddler.
Can anyone imagine what happend?
Is there a "normal" way to do the same, without installing a hacker tool?

Migration from 9.3 to 11.1.2 Smartview error

I have this kind of message when i open an excel smartview created with version 9 and I try to connect to the same application in version 11
"The signd-on token i no longer valid
Do you want to connect with username/password"
If I click on YES the connection proposed (and it is not possible to modify it) is the one to the version 9.
Is there a way to "convert" the file?

Is the SmartView file utilizing hsGetValue functions? If the application name is specified in the formula it will attempt to open up that connection, else it will default to your default connect, which you also may want to verify is the new application.

Planning Provider Error in Smartview 9.3.1.5.0.025

Hello all,
When I retrieved large amounts of data in Planning Ad-hoc using SmartView and Workspace, I got "Planning Provider Error".

This type of error usually means the the xml being returned by your provider is not the expected type or is malformed. What provider are you hitting and can you tell me the url you are using? Also it the provider and older or newer version than the Smart View client?
