Smartview executable not launching in Workspace
We are currently on EPM version 11.1.2, and have been using Smartview 11.1.2.5, I have been able to download and run Smartview 11.1.2.5.400 on my machine and now I want to push it out to the users. When I replace the Smartview.exe and the Version.xml file, on D:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\common\epmstatic\wspace\SmartView, and rebooted EPM, the executable still does not launch. It opens a blank IE window and doesn't do anything.
Following the Read Me instructions, I revised the version.xml file as well.
Any idea what else I need to do in order to run the executable from Workspace? thanks.
I don't think EPM 11.1.2.2 is compatible with Smart view 11.1.2.5.400.
Smart View releases beginning with 11.1.2.5.000 support EPM 11.1.1.4.x. Earlier versions of EPM are not supported. Customers need to upgrade to a higher version of EPM suite, preferably 11.1.2.3.500, the latest.
You can review the above information in this article.

App-V 5.0 standalone, application executable not launching
Hi
I have sequenced Mozilla firefox using App-v 5.0 sequencer. When I publish the application in standalone mode the application and launch he shortcut the application does not launch. When i check the process i can see that the application process , in this
case 'firefox', has launched but the shortcut to the application does launch in GUI.
I did some test's on the issue and below are the results.
1) If I copy the Root file of my application and paste them some place on the desktop the executable starts to launch.
2) I opened up the bubble and saw that there is a small cross mark on the application executable, which means as per my knowledge that the application exe has not streamed , but I am using the client in standalone mode and not publishing the app from server
so the exe should not have a streaming issue.
3) I tried capturing the application in both VFS and MNT mode but it does not help.
Any suggestions what I can try or what could be the issue here.if you are running in standalone mode... what is the source of your package. The cross means indeed that the package is not 100% mounted, so:
Add-AppvClientPackage packagae.appv | Publish-AppvClientPackage | Mount-AppvClientPackage
and try again. -
Hi Gurus,
Recently upgraded HFM system in distributed environment from version 11.1.2.1 to 11.1.2.2 on MS Win 2008 R2 platform and Oracle 11g database. There are two servers as follows:
Machine 1: Foundation
Reporting
Workspace
HFM Web
Machine 2: Foundation common components
HFM
FDM
Applied maintenance release, configured existing databases for individual components and deployed to application server on existing domain (on Machine 1 WebLogic) which went fine. Lastly configured web server on Foundation (Machine 1 - Oracle HTTP). Then executed the HFM schema upgrade utility.
Workspace & shared services are working fine, HFM apps are appearing in shared services, hfm text appears using hfm url, services are running fine. Issue is that HFM applications do not show up on workspace.
Oracle support suggested applying adf patches, HFM 303 & 305 patches, but the problem remains even after applying all the suggested patches. Is this a bug in 11.1.2.2? Please help.
Thanks,
HamminderHi Hamm,
The fact that you are saying that "hfm text appears using hfm url" can mean that you have not configured the workspace web server after you configured the HFM. Have you done that?
As another test, have you tried toy connect to HFM via smartview to an existing app?

Photoshop CS5 will not launch either from the desktop or program list. The only way to launch is to log out and restart the computer. At the end of each session I reset the preferences in the Workspace. I am running Win 7 ultimate with 4GB of ram. System is 64 bit . Display is ATI Radeon HD 5700 series. Adapter type is AMD Radeon Graphics Processor (0x68B8). The computer has an Intel(R) series/3400 Chipset Family.
When I installed from the disk I received the message Exit Code 6, 0 fatal errors, 21 errors, 1 warning. I have reinstalled several times and still get the same message. Tried disabling start up items while installing but same message. One thing that sort of jumps out at me, regarding running the program, is that 4GB of RAM. With a 64-bit OS, 4GB is just about the minimum to run the OS, with little to nothing left over for a program, like Photoshop. I would bump that up, and to 12 - 16GB, if possible.
For the installation, I think that Mylenimum has posted some very useful links.
Good luck,

Lookout 6.1 build 27 OPCClient does not launch the Opto 22 OPC SEVER
In the same computer, with the same Lookout 6.1 a few weeks ago, I had communication between Opto 22 OPC Server and Lookout using the OPCClient in Lookout. Settings in OPCClient were for a really fast scanning rate (50 milliseconds) and de deadband was set to zero in order to see all the inputs changes with the best resolution. These I/O units are Opto PAC EB2 brains, and the OPC Server belongs to the suite of PAC 8.0 (I tried also 8.1) of Opto 22. The I/O Configuration and the OPC configuration was done with the same OPTO22 software version. This was a test done in order to see if I can get 20 samples per second from all the I/O's. It did go well, even a little faster than required. It was informed to my bosses, then I had the 'go' for the project I'm working on. That was the main concern of everyone here; the fast communication between Lookout an the Hardware.
The computer runs windows XP SP2, has two ethernet ports; one with dynamic IP address on motherboard (for the company network), and a PCI ethernet cad with a fixed IP address in the range of the IP addresses of the Opto 22 brains dedicated to talk to these I/O units.
I called first to the tech support of OPTO 22. They shown me how to double check and to launch manually the OPC Server, there is a tester software for it. The OPC Server was launched and I saw it in the task manager under processes tab.
When I create the object in Lookout, it does not see the server, neither launches the server. I can see the data members of the OPCClient, but I can not see the variables or tags from the server.
Again, it did work a few weeks before in the same PC, with the same Lookout and the same Opto 22 as a test. Now I need to add the OPCClient to my application and make the corresponding connections, but I can't.
This is becoming a kind of hurry, time is running and the application can not get to work.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance. When the OPC Client object is created, I can select the OPTO22OPCSever.2 in the dropdown list of servers. It is there, and the object can be configured normally. I must see in the object explorer (expanding the OPCClient object) the tags configured in OPTO 22 Server, but they are not there. The Client object only shows its data members. Once Lookout is open with the OPCClient, the task manager/services does not show Opto22OPCSever.exe running, that tells me that Lookout's client does not launch the server and that's why it does not show the tags configured in the server.
I have uninstalled Opto 22 software and re-installed, I called Opto 22 tech support and they shown me a way to launch manually the server, even how to monitor some of the values of its tags. I saw the Opto22OPCServer.exe in the processes list of the task manager, I read values of some tags with the OPC tester, To me, the server side is working fine.
Then, I installed Lookout .During this process there was an error 1922 and a message saying that files mssgl.mdf, mssgl.mdl, and mssgl.ldl are not found, These files must be located in C:\ Program Files\ National Instruments\Lookout 6.1\ Database. During the first installation of Lookout 6.1, I followed the instructions in the README file, where some specific commands must be typed in the run windows and executed to create the database properly. It was done, no errors were displayed during the first installation.
The thing is that this OPCClient/OPCServer DID WORK before. For some reason it does not work NOW.
this computer didn't have any previous version of Lookout installed, there is no possible old database messing here.
Again; the computer runs windows XP SP2, it has a dual core processor. -

Photoshop suddenly will not launch
Hello,
photoshop suddenly will not launch.
a dialog box displays: "Can not open a work file because the file is locked or you do not have access privileges necessary Use the command." Properties "in Windows Explorer to unlock the file." appeared 2 times every time I want to run photoshop.
Win 7 64bit
SSD (temporary files on another partition)
Photoshop 64bit
It is possible to open photoshop as qu'adminsitrateur but I do little more import files drag and drop. (Very unpleasant, I lose a lot of time)
This is the second time it happens, I reformatted my PC for 8 days, it is parfairtement own.
A tool, an idea?Your response in no way applies to my message to you. I did not submit a print screen nor did I submit a image to you of any dialogeue box. Your canned response is simpy pathethic. Due to your and Adobe's inabilty and/or lack of interest in supporting paid customers' difficulties with your software, I will continue to run assorted fix-it scans and attempt to fix Adobe's inabilty to launch on my own.
I will be seeking an alternative to your software - I can no longer rele y upon Adobe - which I have been using for at least 12 years...please notify Adobe that they have lost the long standing allegiance of a user - of the largest winery of the world. BIG mistake! Once I find an alternative, I will now do my best to convert the entire winery to the alternative. All of this originated because I purchased the Photosoft 7.0 software for use to benefit a local non-profit that the winery has been supporting for 45 years - HUGE mistake on Adobe. Hopefully, this will teach them a lesson.
Just because a customer appears to be a individual user does not mean that they do not have influeunce elsewhere...the company that you suport is about to lose a huge looser. It is Adobe's loss...there are plenty of other alternatives out there.
I work full time to support myself financially...and I volunteer my time to a local non-profit art gallery (where I am on the executive board) to support my artistic interests....shame on Adobe for ignoring the individual just because they appear to be a simple user. By the way...I also sit on two boards at the local college....my research on alternatives to Adobe will certainly be shared with them - especially in these budget cutting times.

Adobe Reader X Locking Up or Not Launching
Windows Vista® Home Premium with Service Pack 2 (32-bit and 64-bit)
Processor: Pentium Dual-Core CPU T4200 @ 2.00 GHz.
Memory (RAM): 3.00 GB
System type: 32-bit Operating System
Over the past several months, Adobe Reader X has been locking up after openning a .pdf file. The file opens, fully visable as normal, but locks up - "Not Responding" - when I take any action (page down, try to print, etc.). I uninstalled and downloaded a number of times as the first fix attempt and encountered the following. (1) When selecting a .pdf file to open, the Adobe Reader title page opens, but then immediately locks up. (2) When selecting via the shortcut or Start Menu/All Programs/Adobe Reader, the program does not launch and the following error displays: Fatal Error: Acrobat failed to connect to a DDE server. I have enjoyed the use of Adobe Reader since 2007 and find this frustrating and disappointing. Please advise. The latest download for Windows Vista is 10.1.4; update it using Help | Check for Updates, or download the update from Adobe - Adobe Reader : For Windows : Adobe Reader 10.1.9 update - All languages
To apply the registry script:
download protected10.zip and save it to disk (e.g. your Downloads folder)
using Windows Explorer, double-click on the downloaded file; it should open and reveal protected10.reg
double-click on the protected10.reg file to execute it -
Elements 12 Organizer running on Windows 7 will not launch
I have Elements 12 for over six months and it has been working fine.
I have used Photo editor several times today without a problem.
When I try to launch organizer either from within Editor or from the welcome screen it will not launch.
It appears to being going through the motions but never opens.
I am open to all suggestions at this point.
Thank you.Try making a direct shortcut to the Organize executable.
Right-click anywhere on the desktop and select New >> Shortcut – navigate to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 12 Organizer
Choose PhotoshopElementsOrganizer with the gray program icon (not Photoshop Elements 12.0 with a blue program icon).
Double-click your new desktop icon to launch. -
Edit function of Photoshop Elements 8 will not launch, suggestions?
When the "edit" buttion is selected it simply times out/resets itself and will not launch the application however, the organizer still seems to be functioning.
If PSE8 uses an Unwelcome Screen, bypass the Unwelcome Screen by creating Desktop shortcuts for the Organizer and the Editor, and restarting your computer.
The Editor's executable is:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe"
The Organizer's executable is:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 10 Organizer\PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe"
The Unwelcome Screen leaves a zombie process running which prevents the actual program from launching again.

We installed Hyperion 11.1.2.2 successfully without a single error in the installation logs. When it was time to execute the configuration tool, the (. ./configTool.sh) file would not launch the configuration GUI at all.
There are no error logs that indicate a problem or missing files. We have done 2 hours worth of checking files, verifying server configurations etc.
Note: We have looked at this document: 1088031.1
We ran the configtool with –console and there no issues as you see below. We would like to use the GUI instead.

We tried your suggestion. The Solaris OS patch is not installed on the server. Also, the .hyperion.<hostname> file was missing in the /u01/app/emmgr home. We added it and we are still not successful. The issue is still there and there are no log files in the /diagnostics/log/config/configtool.log. The only lines being generated are:

Sybase Control Center Does not launch
Hi All,
Why Sybase Control Center on my PC does not launch (Internet Explore cannot display the webpage) ?
I checked at my service, Sybase Unified Agent already started.
Please help me ...Typically it is because you have not set JRE_HOME or JAVA_HOME. Surce where the jave.exe or the jre.exe exists and add this to the environment.
Also we you are having these types of issues.......the best way to debug this is to open up a DOS window and run the "D:\Sybase\Shared\Sybase Central 6.0.0\win64\scjview.exe" executable from that directory. This way you can see the eeror being pushed out instead of having it flash to the screen. -

Also, there's no TroubleTicket.txt file, as it usually would be - if it is purely related to JSPM.
Since, I am accessing this through VPN, this is mostly DISPLAY variable related error - However, I am using Hummingbird Exceed to access this. and have enabled " X11 Forwarding " option in putty . But, I am not able to find " XAuthority File " for local display ,
which I need to point in Putty < Not, sure if this comes in to play since, I am using Hummingbird exceed 10.
when I do echo $DISPLAY , I do get value of DISPLAY variable. I even tried to execute ...xhost + command as sudo root ..but,
it is giving error and ' xclock ' is also displaying " Error: Can't open display: <ip address of local machine > :0.0 ".
I have earlier used hummingbird exceed through VPN and this issues has not come up. That ' X Authority ' file should be
unix home directory i.e. /home/SIDadm ..but, it is not there, either. So, I can't point the correct loc of it in Putty.
Some other posts regarding same error on winows platform in forum mentions the need of xcopy.exe file in system32 directory ..however this being unix host ( remotely accessing through XP machine ) ..I am not sure how it is works in Unix.
Pl. Share your expertise on this as this is unix and so far I have not found solution pointing to the core problem i.e. why
despite Hummingbird Exceed running in background , this DISPLAY / xclock issue should come in to play ..
Thanks for your inputs and time as well ..
Regards,
- IshanHi Paul :
Thanks a Lot.
Bootstrap logs gave a clue and I configure my hummingbird exceed for remote access.
It solved problem.

After installing the 10.4.8 update, I have noticed that applications that I had previously installed before the update will no longer run. New downloads will also not run. I can extract the files, but clicking to run an application does not do anything. Looking at the Console utility, it logs a "crash" for application I try to unsuccessfully run.
That said, applications that came installed with OS X are running fine (iPhoto, Safari, etc). My firefox web browser is also running fine. I have also managed to install a couple of other apps from the internet (Flickr Uploader for example), but by and large, any other applications will not run.
Any ideas?From MacFixIt.com
Update prebinding Many cases of application launch-failure can be resolved easily by simply updating prebinding, via the following steps:
1. Log in as an administrator
2. Open the Terminal (located in Applications/Utilities)
3. Type: sudo update_prebinding -root / -force and press Return.
4. When prompted for a password, enter your admin password, and press Return again. The process may take a few minutes, and you may see various messages flash by. The process is complete when the Terminal returns to a normal prompt.
5. Type exit and press Return.
Kill process in activity monitor Killing an application-related process via Activity Monitor (click the item then press the 'Quit Process' button) can allow proper application launch. This is especially applicable in situations where a restart cures problems with application launching, as the offending process(es) will, of course, be killed by the restart process.
Launch Activity Monitor (located in Applications/Utilities), then find the process associated with the problematic application, then quit it and attempt re-launching the applications.
Delete appropriate .plist files A non-launching application can be the result of a corrupt or otherwise defunct associated .plist file
Most of the preferences files that we will be talking about are stored in a folder named Preferences, and located in the Library folder of your home directory, e.g.:
* ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist.
Go to the ~/Library/Preferences folder, and search for any .plist files that may be associated with the application you are having trouble with. Drag the .plist file(s) [many applications have more than one associated .plist file, so be careful to scour for all of them] to the Desktop, then re-attempt launching the application.
You can also use an application like Preferential Treatment to check for corrupt .plist files.
Re-install the application Try re-installing your application from its original media or download source.
If an Apple application or component is not launching properly, you might need to restore it from the Apple installation discs per the instructions in our tutorial "Re-installing Apple applications from a Mac OS X disc/update package using Pacifist."
Clearing caches Try using a utility like Tiger Cache Cleaner, OnyX, or Cocktail to perform series of system cache deletion routines. Go from light, to medium to deep (the ordinal levels are defined differently in each application), checking to see if your afflicted application launches properly after each.
Also, check the following folder for application-specific cache files that can be deleted, or at least temporarily removed:
/Library/Application Support (look inside the folders here for files that end with .cache, and delete them)
Make sure permissions are correct A range of permissions issues can effect Mac OS X applications, causing them not to launch.
In these cases, the first thing to try is a disk permissions repair routine using Apple's Disk Utility (located in Applications/Utilities).
Failing that, startup from your Mac OS X installation disc (insert it, then restart while holding down the "C" key). After the startup process is complete, go to the "Utilities" menu and select Disk Utility. Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button.
In some odd cases (usually after a backup or when transferring backed up data back to a startup device), permissions on the "MacOS" directory (the directory that normally stores the executable binary in a Mac OS X application) can become incorrect.
In order to fix this problem, use the following steps:
1. Click on the afflicted application to select it in the Finder
2. Either click the application while holding the control key, or use the "Action" menu (the icon looks like a gear) to access the option "Show Package Contents"
3. Open the "Contents" folder therein, and then find the "MacOS" folder
4. Modify the permissions on this folder to give it "execute" permissions for all users. Do this by opening the Terminal (located in Applications/Utilities) and typing the following command (don't press return afterward):
5. sudo chmod 755
6. After typing this, drag the "MacOS" folder to the Terminal window -- its path should appear. Press return, and you will be prompted for your administrator password, which you should enter.
The "MacOS" directory should now have read, write and execute priveleges for the owner, and read and execute privileges for the group and others.
Check CoreAudio As noted in Knowledge Base article #301658, some Apple applications might not open fully or at all if the Digidesign Core Audio driver has been installed as part of a Pro Tools version 6.9 installation.
Apple says to follow these steps if you are affected by this issue:
* Updating your Digidesign Core Audio driver may resolve the issue. You can find the latest versions for Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) and Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) at http://digidesign.com/download/coreaudio. If that doesn't help, continue to step 2.
* Open Audio MIDI Setup (/Applications/Utilities).
* Click the Audio Devices tab.
* From the Default Output pop-up menu, choose Built-in Audio.
Check for errant plug-ins Some application launch failures can be caused by problematic plug-ins or other add-ons. Safari and other Web browsers are notorious for suffering from this issue, as are some other extensible applications like iMovie.
Check the following locations for any recently added files, or any files implicated in error messages generated when you attempt to launch the problematic application:
* /Library/Internet Plug-ins
* ~/Library/InputManagers
Re-apply the Mac OS X combo updater Try re-applying the latest Mac OS X combo updater from Apple's software downloads page. Doing so can resolve issues with system components or delete specific files that can resolve application launching issues.
Create a new user account Try creating a new user account, and check if the application launches under it. If so, a user-specific corruption issue is likely at play -- see the above sections regarding .plist files and caches.
Archive and Install As a last resort, try performing an Archive and Install process, which will retain some user settings but otherwise leave you with a fresh Mac OS X installation.
Also, check with the application's developer for compatibility notes regarding the version of Mac OS X you are running, and revert to an earlier iteration if necessary. -
Photoshop CC trial (Mac) not launching...
Downloading the Photoshop CC trial app and have spent the last three hours trying to get the darn app to work... it launches for a second or two and than stalls in its tracks and just quits.
I've tried all the usual Mac troubleshooting steps, plus all that I could find on net (signing out, quiting the CC app, and than trying again)... same results! PS CC just will NOT launch long enough for me to even try anything. Maddening!!!
I have PS CS6 which works without a hitch. I'm at a loss for what else to try. Even went as far as reinstalling the OS (10.8.4). All to no avail. Anybody got any ideas?
New 3.4 GHz, 27in iMac... 32 gb memory, 3 TB Harddrive with 256Gb Fusion drive... Nvidia Geforce GTX 680MX.
TIANo, at least none that I can find. But just to be sure, I did an unistall/reinstall when I couldn't get PS CC to stay open long enough to even open anything with it.
Something is definately wrong because I haven't once gotten the usual "this is a trial (so many days left) countdown screen" on launch.
I'm stumped!
Is there any way to do a complete, clean uninstall and try again?
