SmartView POV issue

I have just had the SmartView add-in installed on my laptop running Windows 7 and Office 2010. Whenever I open a spreasheet linked to the Essbase server, the POV pop-up window keeps flashing constantly and I cannot get it to stop, which makes the spreadsheet almost impossible to use. What might be happening to me?

OK we are running this configuration on plenty of machines and do not see this. Has anyone opened an SR or is there a bug logged? We will take a look but without seeing this or having a reproducible case it is going to be hard to fix.
If anyone who see this can provide the steps to reproduce that would be a great start, a logged SR would be a bonus.

Smartview POV using 11.1.2.1.00

is there a way to display the member name used in a POV in version 11.1.2.1.00. For example, Account is in the POV so users can select the account they want to view. however, they also want the name of the account they are using in the report so when they print it out, it would show it. 11.1.2.1.00 only have three "Hs*" functions and it doesn't allow me to get it from the POV.

I am no Infrastructure expert but my guess is that you would have to possibly reinstall the services.
Just to get an understanding of the issue what is it you think has happened that makes you belive that the services may have been lost. In other words what was changed from when you last had them working?

HFM Smartview connection issue. error 404

Hi,
I am getting error while connecting to the smartview to my HFM Applications
error" Can not connect to the provider.Make sure it is running in the specified host/port.Error: 404

SmartView POV Manager in Power Point

Hi All,
I'm trying to past and copy data from a SmartView report developed in Excel to a Power Point slide.
The data are correctly copied and dispayed but every time I past a figure SmartView generates a new Query displayed in the Power Point POV Manager.
Even if I cancel the pasted figure the Query remains in the POV Manager , this means that I have a lot of these query that I don't use anymore.
How can I delete old query that are no longer used?

Hi,
What version are you connecting to V11, 9.3.x ?
What source are you connecting to Planning, Essbase ?
An example in V11 would you enter adhoc analysis mode and this will return the default POV, you should also get a floating toolbar with POV on it, you can select one of the dimensions and then select .... and it will open the member selection window where you can choose a member.
In 11 to use the POV manager, right click the application you are connected to and choose add to favourites, then go to the POV manager, there should be Active in the right hand window, double click it and a connection should appear, double click the connection and a POV window should be displayed, now you can click on a dimension and click the member selector and you will be able to select a member.
It should be around the same sort of process of other versions, not exactly the same I know.

Hide SmartView POV on Excel 2010

Is there a solution for hiding the POV in Excel 2010 or 2007?
In Excel 2003 you could use
CommanBars("POV Sheet1_1").visible=false
but in 2007 or 2010 it doesn't work. Something else?

Thanks a lot. But however is strange than if you list the CommandBar objects names, you'll find also the POVs ones!
The only solution is to move to the latest version of smartview.

Smartview retrive issue

Hi all,
We are currently running the following Hyperion Smartview Connect Client “9.3.1.5 Client”
We are having some issues when trying to substitute the #Missing data with a 0 in the Hyperion Options. It does not allow us to put this numerical value and therefore the formulas do not work properly. I am wondering if there is a fix for this, or if there might be a new version of the client that would allow us to do this. We are currently running this on Excel 2007.
If we leave it blank, the results in excel file is not populating the totals when the data is zero.
Can anyone give suggestion to resolve this issue, Thanks in Advance

I usually set #Missing display option as follow : (0)
It's working fine with version 9.2 and 11.1 of smartview and formulas are preserved.

Smartview connection issue

While connecting to Smartview, the connection gets hanged. Window for User Id and Password never pop's up . There are no error messages displayed and no errors in Smartview log file. This happens for all the users.
Any idea's what could be the issue here?

We just upgraded from 11.1.2.0 to 11.1.2.1 and are facing the same issue. I haven't found any reference to ER 8246706: CANNOT SUBMIT DATA FROM ADHOC VIEW FOR A MULTICURRENCY DATA FORM in support.oracle.com or a patch for 11.1.2.1.
Are you aware of any patch available for release 11.1.2.1?

Smartview Function Issue

Hi All,
From Smartview, using the Hssetvalue function Iam trying to submit a data to the cube and while doing that Iam getting the following error message:
"Cannot perform cube view operation. OLAP error (1042006): Network Error [10061]: Unable to Connect to [19.xx.xx.xx:32768]. The client timed out waiting to connect to the Essbase Agent using TCP/IP. Check your network connections. Also please make sure that the Server and Port values are correct."
The function that Iam trying to execute is as follows:

What version of MS Office do you have? Earlier versions of Office (2003 for example) is a bit buggy with System 11.

Smartview - Access Issue

Hi,
We have a few users who show up in Essbase as 'Essbase and Planning' access. We provisioned them to a group that has Essbase Server access first. Then we went back and put them in their appropriate groups for Planning access, refreshed security in Planning and EAS. When they log into Smartview and try and expand the Essbase server they don't see any of the cubes they have access to.
Any ideas why they wouldn't see their cubes that we granted Planning (Planners) access to?

Yes. We give 'Server Access' to a group named 'Essbase_Server_Access' first and refresh security from Shared Services via EAS. The users then show up at this point as 'Essbase' access. We then go back and provision the users to the various Planning application groups that contain 'Planner' access. We then refresh security in Planning and then via EAS. The users at this point now have 'Essbase and Planning' access in the 'users' table in EAS. However they can't see any applications under the server in Smartview. If we go back and give 'Planner' access to their individual usernames, then they can see their apps in Smartview. We should not have to do that though. The groups with the same access should provide that? Or am I wrong?

SmartView performance issue

We have deployed SmartView as Excel add in for end users to drill down the budget data kept in Essbase. We found that sometimes the SmartView performance is very slow mainly due to the filtering criteria set by end users are very large so that almost the whole database data are selected.
Such kind of large scale drill down causes some dead processes in our Essbase server. A system services "HyS9aps" consumes lots of CPU time.
Any practical way we can limit end users to drill down the budget data in Essbase? For example if end users have the security access to Entity and Accounts dimension, can we limit the no. of blocks they can retrieve at one time?

Smartview installation issue

Hello,
I have a user that had hyperion in their excel menus, but it went away. Usually unregistering hsaddin, hsspread and hyperionsmarttag and then reregistering them corrects the problem. But that is not working for this person.
Any ideas?

Smartview Compatibility Connundrum (11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.3)

Hi All,
We are currently in the process of upgrading our EPM environment from 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.3. We are staggering our application go-live dates so HFM goes first late Summer and then Essbase 3 months later.
We are having issues with Smartview compatability balancing our applications between 11.1.1.3 and 11.1.2.3.
Option 1 - Upgrade to Smartview 11.1.2.5.210:
We are able to connect to both old and new HFM but our 11.1.1.3 Essbase connections start acting strange and we can only see aliases rather than member names or aliases. The change alias table is essentially greyed out and locked down. This basically makes our Essbase ad-hoc analysis useless. Oracle told us that 11.1.2.5 Smartview could support both 11.1.1.3 and 11.1.2.3 but when we told them about this issue, they then said we would have to upgrade our 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.1.3.500....something we won't be doing as we are abandoning it over the next few months.
Further, the default install location for the new Smartview is C:\Oracle\Smartview whereas the 11.1.1.3 version was located in C:\Hyperion\Smartview. As you can imagine, we receive that famous error of C:\Hyperion\Smartview\Bin\Hstbar.xla! in all of our formulas when opening files created with formulas in 11.1.1.3. My assumption is the new Smartview can't find the path that the old formulas are tagged with.
Yes, I can do a search and replace in Excel for C:\Hyperion\Smartview but I don't want to tell hundreds of users around the world to do this. It appears (I have done a few tests), that this formula issue won't occur if I install 11.1.2.5.210 into C:\Hyperion\Smartview and override the default install location. My issue with this is I don't know if there is any downside to overriding the default location of Smartview. ie. will issues arise in the future as it was intended to go to the Oracle folder? Further, my end-users may try to rush through the installation instructions and I suspect many people will carelessly install it to the default location. I just want to make the install as user-friendly as possible for all of our users who are not Smartview experts.
Option 2 - Stay on Smartview 11.1.1.3 until Essbase goes live:
If we try to stay on the current Smartview 11.1.1.3, everything seems okay but now I have discovered that the member selection function does not work with HFM 11.1.2.3 and gives an error saying 'Function Parameter Missing or Mis-Spelled'. Not having this function will be an issue for us. I haven't done much testing with this option but the first issue is a bit of a deal breaker.
Any advice? Has anyone been through this? Does anyone have a simple way to fix the Essbase alias issue or the C:\Hyperion\Smartview formula issue.

we had the same issue and the only solution is to patch per the advice from Oracle to enable the existing functionality. Alternatively as you suggest you could stick with the old smartview but you will find you have a steep learning curve for the users when you do go live.

Error coming out while opening a report !

most of the 5200 errors I have seen are related to a POV issue. Do you have any dimensions that are on POV?
If yes, login to Workspace > File > Preferences > Financial Reporting > User Point of View > If it is Off, select ON, click OK. Log off and log back in. Try to run the report and see if the issue is still there.

I'm getting the following error message when running a Hyperion report:
5200: Error executing query: ColumnOutOfRange
A report is running for some dimensions, but not others. What causes this error?

Issue with exporting Financial Report in Smartview 11.1.2.2

If I export a FR in "Export in query Mode" , it concatenates the parent with the child (parent.child) and does not return anything in Smartview. Even though the report works fine in workspace.
I narrowed down the issue and it seems if I use Stored member roll up instead of using Shared member roll up it returns the right data when I export the report in Smartview.
So the issue is only with the FR using Shared members.
Does anyone know if this is a known issue or can replicate this in their environment ? We are on version 11.1.2.2

Nope that didn't work, but I figured out the error. I was running the command on a client machine. When I run the command on the server itself, it works fine.. well, now I have issues with my POVs, but at least it's finding my .csc file.
