Smartview problem

Hi guys,
I am facing this problem with smartview. When connecting to Hyperion through excel, the sheets will automatically be protected. When I enter new data in the sheet and try to submit data, i get the message that the excel sheet is protected. Then I unprotect the sheet and hit submit data, nothing happens. So I need to refresh the data, reenter it, then again unprotect the sheet before submitting data.
This issue does not come up always. It happens some times and then it fades away. I found out that this is documented as issue (8-648234013) with smartview release 9.3.1.1 and that this happens only with Office 2000.
But I am using I am using MS 2007, smartview version 11.
Has anybody using version 11 faced this issue before and resolved it?

Hyperion planning data form in smartview: problem with summary time period

We are using Planning ver. 11.1.2.2.300.20 and smartview 11.1.2.2.300 (build 070)
We use common Data Form:
In columns: Periods (Descendants including YearTotal - with no checkbox on start expanded)
In Rows :accounts
In some of our users computers,
When they open Data Form in Excel (with Smart View) - its appears very strange:
Summary Accounts are displayed as level 0 account in the summary Period columns (i.e. not in grey) and permit entering data.
In addition when Entering data in summary time period (i.e. Year or Quarter),
strangely, the data doesn't spread to the descendants months (level 0) .
This phenomenon occurs just in few of the computers.
Please help, how can we overcome this problem?

All computers have the same version of planning and smartview.
The computers where the Periods spreading and aggregation properties in Data form are not working,
do work wonderfully when opening the Data forms in the web.
I've tried everything, (remove suppressing, validations etc.):
In all kind of data forms the spreading and aggregation properties on summary time periods are not working in smartview -
and summary accounts on rows are not displayed in grey and permit entering data.
We remove and reinstall MS-Office (2007) from the problematic computers, but it didn't help.
Do you know if there is any kind of settings or softwares that might cause this phenomenon
i.e. interrupts the smartview translation of the web Data Forms.

Smartview Problem with Protected Sheets

Hello,
We use Hyperion Smart View in our company and discovered a problem while using protected excel sheets while the addin is active. Excel asks for the password but doesnt accept it even if it is the right password. If we disable the addin the problem disappears. Has somebody else such a problem ?
Has somebody a solution or a workaround ?

This issue was logged under Bug 6591401 - When Smart View is active and the worksheet is protected, the following error message is encountered ''Drawing Objects in one or more sheet(s) in the workbook are protected. Please unprotect them and try to save again.'' However, Bug 6591401 has been closed as not a defect.
The following is an explanation of how Smart View handles protected cells and a workaround for this issue:
Smart View needs some place to store it's own metadata within the Excel spreadsheet and it has been using a certain non-obtrusive object for the same. In versions 9.2 and prior, Smart View attempted to unprotect the Excel worksheets to be able to write it's metadata. That led to unexpected behavior when there were passwords used with the protection. This was fixed in 9.3.1.1.2 to make Smart View elegantly honor the spreadsheet protection and not touch objects which are specified as out of bounds by the user. However, when a spreadsheet is protected, this object can become inaccessible to Smart View, after which even a simple save operation cannot go through. In that sense, the current behavior is indeed the correct behavior, where the user placed restriction is honored correctly. The next question will be how can customers then work with protected sheets.
While protecting a worksheet, the following dialog appears which is where the user will have to establish what kind of operations will be allowed on this worksheet. By default the top two options are the only ones that come pre-selected. Just allowing these two options is not sufficient for Smart View to be able to work with the worksheet.
What also needs to be enabled is the option for "Edit Objects" which appears towards the end of the list. It is this option that helps Smart View to be able to persist it's own metadata within the worksheet in a non-obtrusive fashion. The guidance to all Smart View users should be to start enabling this option too, if they choose to apply worksheet protection.

This Upload File worked before. I have checked the Function and it looks fine.
I can "Refresh" but as soon as I "Submit" I get this error

Please, open a TAC service request to have this investigated further.
When you do, please, attach the exact steps you follow to get this error, as well as a sysreport from the Show and Share appliance.
Also, it would be good to confirm whether other users are also seeing the same error or not.

Display Text Field data in SmartView

We have a planning form that accepts input of a text field for a "project name". When I query via SmartView (ad-hoc) it shows a numeric value instead of the field (project name). We have tried creating FR reports to show this information but our reports keep shutting down the services because of performance issues. Does anyone know in which Oracle repository tables does this information get stored (i.e., the Numeric Id value that matches the String value)?

We have faced exactly the same FR problem number of times in different projects. You haven't mentioned your version number. If it's 9.3 series, there is no solution to your Financial Reporting problem unfortunately. For 11.1.1.1+ though there is one solution. Assuming that you are using Planning details connection, click on top left corner of the grid, on the right hand side, where the properties of grid is listed, you must see a little box about suppression (or hiding) missing planning blocks. Enable this and try again. this will keep only already populated fields in your report, which I'm sure is fine.
As for your smartview problem, as Rinku suggested essbase connection doesn't bring the text files as these are separately stored in repository. However, you have limited ad-hoc capabilities in System 11 Planning. Look for the key word "smart slice" in the admin guide.

Webform Page dropdown box search functionality

All,
We are on Planning 11.1.2.2.303.
Since we have a page dimension with over 1000 members (and the member names are a name followed by 19 numbers in length), the business owner really likes the "Like" search of the page dropdown in the webform. (He can type a string of any characters and it will narrow the the members displayed to those members with that string anywhere in the membername)
He really wants to use the forms that I have created for him in Smartview, problem is that the dropdown search functionality doesn't work the same. In Smartview it will follow you when you type the membername from the beginning, but it only highlights what you are typing if it matches a membername (and only the first one that matches), and it doesn't narrow the list of members in the dropdown box.
Does anyone know of a setting (in planning or windows) that will enable a "Like" search in the dropdown boxes in smartview?

I would like to pubically thank Mat Milella. He took time out of his afternoon to help me with a smartview problem I was having. I messed something up(don't want to go into the details) and could not connect to APS. but my favorites would connect to BSO cubes but not ASO cubes. Turns out I had to recreate the connection to the Essbase server and delete my favorites. The favorites kept some of the information, but not all that is needed. (Version 11.1.1.3). I had tried to create the connection but it was the deleting the favorites that finally fixed the problem completely.
Matt went out of his way to help me and I am grateful, As I have said before, Matt, Mike and Toufic are gems of the Oracle world. Their willingness to help is amazing. Matt, I can't thank you enough. I was sweating bullets trying to get my problem figured out. 15 minutes with you and you made it look easy.
I look forward to the next release of smartview as I hear your group has done some really good things with it.

Smartview 11.1.2.2 Excel Problem

Hello,
I installed 11.1.2.2 smartview after uninstalling 11.1.1.3.5 as 11.1.2.2 has been certified to be backward compatible. Every time i open Excel i get the following message.
C:\Hyperion\Smartview\Bin\HSTbar.xla could not be found. Check the spelling of the filename, and verify the file location is correct.
Did anyone had this issue ? If so please let me know how to get rid of this issue.

I had a similar problem with an install of 11.1.2.1 where the uninstall of the older version left a registry entry behind. Try looking in [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Excel\options] and there should be some OPEN commands in there for Smartview. I guess depending on the install it could be different, but I think the correct path would be C:\Oracle\Smartview\Bin\HsTbar.xla. If you see any OPEN commands with the directory you mention below (C:\Hyperion) I would think you would want to change or delete those (unless of course that is the right directory) and then renumber the remaining OPEN commands to be in sequential order.
Obviously, backup the registry before trying any of this as this may be a completely unrelated problem from what I had.

Smartview 11.1.2 - Planning and Excel formulas giving problems

I am using Smartview 11.1.2 with HP 11.1.2, when I open one webform done and in one cell I write
=10
and after I write different number like 5, it's still with =10
so, has someone had problems with you start to use a formula in one cell and after you tried to replace by a value?

Smartview 11.1.2.1.102 Refresh problems

I have multiple users experiencing severe refresh problems after upgrading to smartview version 11.1.2.1.102.
Users state Refresh is taking 10-15mins+ when in old version 9x it only takes 1-2mins. In addition users have rebuilt the excel files (copy in new workbook) then all is working fine but when saved/the next day the refresh goes very slow again!
Please can any help?

1. Deleting the Sheet Info fixes the problem for the moment - but the problem soon returns. Do you know what causes the problem, so we can cut the repeating cycle? Is this strictly a multi-user issue? We do have several users that may use the file. Some have version 11.1.2.1.000 (not 103). Oracle's tips doc (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-foundation/epm-tips-issues-73-102-1612164.pdf) mentions uncompressed metadata stored in the worksheet.
2. Is there a specific version that allows the Sheet Info fix? Oracle's tip sheet says they need Some have version 11.1.2.1.103, but the users we have seen so far can use this workaround on Some have version 11.1.2.1.000. I'd like to know when at what version this fix starts so I can push other users to update. It would be good to know at which version this issue starts.

This is most likely due to an issue with uncompressed metadata stored in the workbook. In most cases, the issue can be found in the first sheet in hidden shapes. Note that the file will open but it may take a very long time, and in some cases the file will open fine with Smart View disabled. In other cases it will not matter. To solve this problem, save a copy of the file and follow the steps below for the version of Smart View you have.
If you are using Smart View 11.1.2.1.103 or above, follow these steps:
1 Open the file (this may take a while) with Smart View enabled.
2 From the Smart View Ribbon, select Sheet Info.
3 Select Delete Smart View Info.
4 Select Workbook and all Sheet Info.

6 Save the modified workbook.
7 Reopen the workbook.

Smartview 11.1.2.1.103 problem: Merged cell in HFM workspace is unmerged in smartview

I have an error here in smartview 11.1.2.1.103. In HFM workspace, the form I designed has merged cell in row1. But I open the same form in smartview, row1 is not longer merged. Does anyone have the same problem?
PS: I've already set the option: excel formatting in smartview.

Sprint Smartview and DM problems

Hello,
I've been successfully using DM and the previous version of sprint connection manager with no problem being able to sync my Pearl 8100 anytime while connected with Sprint. Now with the new Sprint Smartview connection manager, everytime I launch DM and initiate a sync it it will randomly stop/disappear. Interestingly, as soon as I shut down Sprint Smartview the DM will pop up, sync and run fine. Ugh! I've been reading elsewhere of similar issues but no successful solutions.

SmartView member selection problem

Hi,
I am facing an issue in Smartview. I am using SmartView 11.1.2.1. I am unsure if this is how it actually works or if it is an issue.
Say, I have the following hierarchy:
A has a child B and B has a child C
And if the user has access to only A and C, when I manually drill down by double clicking on A, I get C. But if I select A and choose 'Member Selection', I do not see member C,under A, for selection.
Is this a known issue ??

This would be expected behavior for a design like this. At a point in time your security requirements are such that it would be overly intensive for Smart View to work as you are asking it to.
Either grant read access to B or understand you will have the issue you have illustrated.

Smartview connection problem.

Hi,
I have a planning application. I opened an excel file and created a connection by using hyperion shared services url wizard.
the URL is "http://hypdemo:13080/aps/SmartView".
After creating this connection I tried to connect this connection piece But I got an error message
saying "essbase legacy addhoc no longer sported in NON-APS connection manager.switch to APS connection manager".
What should I do to correct this issue.?
I have been searching all forum posts since yesterday but I could not find anything similar with this issue.
so any advice would be realy helpfull as I am feeling hopeless to find any solution relating this issue.

Problems accessing application when using SmartView

Hi friends,
Getting the below error while connecting to applications using smart view.Any suggestions could be of very helpful.
Unable to access the application when using SmartView. The user has access to the application DB however:
Either user doesn't get authenticated at all or he gets the following error message:
Cannot open cube view. Analytic Server Error (1051025): User joseph is not permitted to access application 8_RPT

You need to provision in Shared Services the user 'Joseph' to have access to the 8_rpt application.
