Smartview Question

Hi,
Kinda new to Smartview as I'm an old Essbase Add In guy. Anyways a few questions. I have a spreadsheet with multiple tabs. In the POV box that floats around I have dragged Scenario, Version, Period into it. I also moved it to the top of the sheet so it's not 'floating' around the spreadsheet.
1 - How do I get it to stay on the top below the Excel 2007 Ribbon? Everytime I save the file and re-open it reverts back to the 'floating' POV.
2 - Is there a way to make the drop down in the POV go horizontal across the POV instead of Vertical? It used to go horizontal and now it's vertical and it takes up alot of room of the actual spreadsheet.

My experience was such that if you had aliases turned on for the sheet, you had to use aliases in the function. Not sure if that is true in all versions. I did run into some problems with this. Issues like this make me think SV is a long way from primetime.
As an aside, do the moderators here move SV threads into the SV forum? I've started using that forum but it seems like there isn't a lot of activity over there.

Smartview 11.1.2.2.300 question

I have a executive who has been having issues with the recent plugin of smartview. I asked if she can explain to me what is going on and this is what she had given to me. Any help would be appreciated.
"It’s erratic, columns are reformatted on the fly every time we refresh a file. My own files open as read only, formulas don’t recognize my desktop".

In the smartview options there is an option to "adjust column width" does she have that checked or unchecked? If its checked uncheck it and before clicking ok click the down arrow beside it and set those smartview options as the default. I would need more information on the formula issue.

Smartview 11.1.2.1.0/Excel 2010

I am using Smartview version 11.1.2.1.0 and am having issues trying to access Essbase in Excel 2010. If I try to access member selections from my Smartview menu Excel 2010 just freezes. If I try to just type in the member selections and refresh I will get #NoAccess for my results but I am connected if I look at the sheet information.

Smartview 11.1.2 - Planning and Excel formulas giving problems

Hi,
I am using Smartview 11.1.2 with HP 11.1.2, when I open one webform done and in one cell I write
=10
and after I write different number like 5, it's still with =10
so, has someone had problems with you start to use a formula in one cell and after you tried to replace by a value?

EPM 11.1.2.0 and Smartview 11.1.2.1

We currently use Office 2003 and 2007 with EPM 11.1.2.0. Our IT is going to be rolling Office 2010, we have been told that we need Smartview 11.1.2.1. We currently have no plans to upgrade EPM 11.1.2.1.
The question what is the best way to rollout Smartview 11.1.2.1 to my current users?
Can we update the link in workspace (Tools->Install->SmartView) to have the 11.1.2.1 instead of 11.1.2.0 ?
Would this change violate some software agreement?

Hi Experts,
We are currently using 11.1.2 EPM , I have downloaded the 11.1.2.1 Hyperion SmartView and installed the same to utilize the new features specially displaying the Member Names and Alias both Adhoc analysis , after upgrading to new version 11.1.2.1 I am able to see some changes in look and feel of the Smartview options but still there is no option for members display . Could you please let me know do we need to upgrate some other application also for using 11.1.2.1?

Smartview 11.1.2.2.300 Essbase Server & APS Compatibility

We want to add LRO's to data cells, but we can't get it working. As stated in the thread title, we use Smartview 11.1.2.2.300 and Essbase Server 11.1.2.1.00.
The core of the problem is that the 'Linked objects' button in the Essbase-ribbon in Excel can't be clicked somehow. Every function of Smartview is working fine, just the Linked Objects function doesn't work. Do we have to enable this function on the Essbase Server-side, or can we fix this problem in another way?

I've discovered that the other functions of the latest Smartview release also don't work. Our guess is that Essbase Server and APS also need to be updated. The question is: to which version? Which patches should be applied, does anybody know that?

Unable to view Essbase App in Smartview

Hello all,
I am new to Essbase so I apologize if this is a silly question. I have created a new Essbase application but I am unable to view it in Smartview (using version 11.1). The Common Provider Connections does not refresh the list based on the new application. I know I created/deployed the app correctly (did this with help of Essbase person). That same person has not worked with 11 too much and could not help.
However, I am able to see and connect to the application using the old Essbase Add-in.
Do I need to trigger something else so the new application will show up in the Common Provider Connection list.

Typically when you can't see an application in Smartview it is because you have your selector set to predefined or favorites. Change it to All and see if it makes a difference.

Refresh all worksheet not working in smartview 11.1.2.2.300

Hi All,
We have a excelsheet report which contain multiple sheets in it. These all sheets have essbase report using HsGetValue formulas. Now when we are clicking on 'Refresh all worksheet' its not working however single sheet refresh works. Can you anyone please sugget what will be the issue?

Smartview Addin upgrade and APS

We are on EPM 11.1.2.600 and APS version is 11.1.2.102 as is the Smartview addin. Business is looking at the feature set in later releases of the Smartview addin, specifically Smart Query and some of the VBA extensions of later versions.
We are currently an old Essbase addin shop, with plans to go to Smartview in the near future, so I am not as 'up to speed' on Smartview. My question is if we upgrade to the latest and greatest version of Smartview do I need to upgrade the APS server also? I downloaded 11.1.2.5.x and was able to connect to Essbase and planning without issues but I want to make sure all features/functionality is available. Thanks.

May I know which is your APS server , its recommended to use Web logic for latest version . May be there can be in compatibility if its web sphere !!

So much simpler.^^^There aren't many times SV's design makes me happy, but I wonder how you would add on (oh, so close to a pun) the Smart Slice, multiple data sources, etc. that 11.x's DSM supports in the add-in's data connection metaphor. I like the circa-1992 dialog box myself for its simplicity, but I can see it breaking down pretty fast when all of the other functionality beyond connecting to an Essbase database (and even then) comes into play.
2) Provide the option to display both the member name and alias both in the rows like Essbase Add-in.
3) Get rid of the floating POV and put it on the spreadsheet so it will print, like Essbase Add-in.Amen to that, especially #3.

Enhancements to Smartview wish list

I know the Smartview team is working hard to enhance the product and based on the presentation Toufic gave at Kaleidoscope last year, I look forward to seeing all the changes. I aslo saw a post from Matt that says the team monitors the board and with that in mind, I would like to start a wish list of a few of my favorite things. No Cameron, I'm not talking abour warm woolen mittens and brown paper packages tied up with string, but what things that frustrate me with smartview. (I'll try to leave out thinks I know are being done)
Please add to the list and be heard (I'm afraid my desires are all Essbase centric)
1. Multiple alias tables - In the classic add-in if you enter an name that is not the current member or alias, it knows what you are talking about and returns the correct name For example if I have:
Member Alias1 Alias2 Alias3
01 Jan January current
and I have alias1 selected. If I type in January and refresh, I would like to get back Jan (and the data associated with it instead of it being treated like text) This was a great trick in the classic add-in (I could define my template with current and bring back the proper month)
2. When I timeout for inactivity make it easier to get reconnected.
3. Have the smartview install have an option to install the Essbase (and/or other) apis. If I'm not using the classic add-in why should I have to install it to get the api
4. I know this has been brought up before, but allow sheet level options. It irks me to have to have to remember to change my options when I go from one template to another when they were set up the way I needed them originally. Now I have to include either a macro to chage everything or memos to remind what the settings from that sheet have to be.
5. Make it easier to switch between cubes (with slightly different dimensionality) for the same sheet. For example I have a template that looks at a cube without a year dimension and a dimension called version. I have a second cube without the viersion dimension, but a year dimension (historical cube). Trying to use the eame template to retiieve from one then the other cube gives great pain.

Smartview Installation

Hi Experts,
The smartview installation on my PC said successful but it did not add the add-in. I am unable to uninstall as it does not appear in the "Remove programs" list in the Control Panal. I am also unable to re-install as unable to select the option in the installation menu.
Can someone please direct me to how do I install Smarview or uninstall the previous one?

Planning and SmartView query

If we import forms from Planning application on SmartView, can we do ad-hoc analyses on it?
I imported Planning formas an alternative to F.Reporting failure but am unable to do member selections on the imported form, etc. Is there a work around for this?
ALSO,
When I build SmartView reports, it gives me No Data whereas data does exist as it shows up on the forms. Where is the problem here? Is there a data mismatch somewhere? There is data on the forms in Planning but it shows no data on the report. I did refresh it but it still shows No Data (#Missing).
How do I get the data to show up on SmartView connected with Planning?

"No pages updated" error message with v11.1.2.1.x SmartView

All,
One of our users with v11.1.2.1.00 (build 271) of SmartView has a workbook with a number of worksheets set up to retrieve from a v9.3.x HFM application.
Upon connecting his workbook (note that the workbook in question has some external links which I chose NOT to update\refresh) to the v9.x HFM application in MS Excel 2003 SP3, the user selects Smart View > Data > Refresh All Worksheets and a error dialog box with the "No pages updated" message gets displayed. Upon clicking on the [OK] button on the error dialog box in question, SmartView still cycles through all worksheets in the workbook and refreshes them one at a time without any further error\warning\other messages.
In an attempt to narrow down what worksheet(s) cause(s) this error message, I have tried to refresh each worksheet individually (ie, cycling through each worksheet and selecting Smart View > Refresh against each of them) and they all worked fine.
As this message is appearing in an error dialog box, the user is reluctant to have his PC upgraded to v11.1.2.1.00 (Build 271) SmartView on the basis that there must be something wrong with the add-in, etc.
I have searched the Oracle KB and the SmartView forum for this error message but in vain.
I was wondering if anyone had encountered this error message and whether they had the opportunity to resolve it and how.

Try pressing the "esc" key when you get the error message.
If that doesn't work try trashing the preferences like this:-

Smartview / Supporting Details Functionality / VBA Excel

Question Summary*: Within Excel, using VBA, is it possible to control the "*_Supporting Details_*" functionality (read / add / delete children, paste values command)?
Detail*:
--- Within Excel, using VBA, I am able to control the POV parameters using something like this:

where theE and theP are variables I've preassigned --- works flawlessly
--- Within Excel, using VBA, I am able to load / show the "*_Supporting Details_*" form using something like this:

I then manually (takes too long) enter data to the form in order to itemize --- within a specific GL expense account --- the budget line item.
--- Request: I have a pre-completed Excel worksheet with all the details. I want to be able to read / add / delete children within a specific line item (SUPPORTING DETAILS) using VBA.
Can someone provide a specific example?
I've tried using HypGetChildren, but is this the wrong method? From documentation, this method appears to be associated with member children, not* SUPPORTING DETAILS.
I'm using this for Supporting Details nodes (children and siblings) --- it is required that I enter "Supporting Details" children (can have anywhere from 1 to 20 children) for this GL expense item (row).
Here's my set-up...
Oracle Hyperion Smartview Version = _9.3.1.5.0.025_
MS Excel Version = _2003 (Service Pack 3)_
Declarations Made = _\SmartView\bin\smartview.bas_ (successfully able to use - call - these methods and functions)
Form Structure Row = One GL Expense Account (called "Meals Expense")
Form Structure Column = Twelve --- with each representing a month (Jan, Feb, Mar...)
Form Structure POV = Many --- and these are already set, I do not need help setting the POV programmatically

Modified Request*: Rather than programatically reading / deleting child nodes within the Supporting Details form, is there a way to programatically add a child node and paste values within the Supporting Details form in the same fashion that I'm able to load / show the Supporting Details form.
