Smb connection to sbs fails under mountain lion

Hello,
Since the upgrade to mountain lion i can longer connect to my work SBS usinfg my MCBpro!
Any solution would be appriciated.
I noted & tested the smb.../share solutions but that didn't work for me.
thanks.

There might be two issues here.  The bad DNS may be tripping up changeip.   I'd report the changeip error to Apple via bugreport, as a start.
As for the trigger apparently involving bad DNS, either there isn't a DNS translation for 192.168.1.2 (and I'd avoid that subnet due to conflicts that can prevent VPNs, preferring to stay in another 10/8 subnet, but I digress), or the server cannot reach the DNS server to fetch the translation due to problems with virtual IP routing, virtual networking or — if the DNS server is external to the virtual machine — with real IP routing.
Alternatively, there's my own theory of virtual machines: when presented with any weird case involving a virtual machine, assume the virtual machine is virtually misconfigured, virtually broken or virtually buggy.   As a differential diagnosis, see if running on real hardware has the same issue and can duplicate the error.

  • Rosetta Stone (v.4.1.15) Error 8111 under Mountain Lion

When launching Rosetta Stone v. 4.1.15 under OS X Mountain Lion, I'm getting the following error during the license verification process:
"8111 There was a minor error. Click OK to continue. -1"
Before I upgraded my Mac from Lion (where Rosetta Stone was working) to Mountain Lion, I had replaced my hard drive on the Mac. So, I first powered down my Mac and pulled out the existing drive with Lion and working Rosetta Stone on it and replaced it with a brand new hard drive (larger capacity). Then I installed Mountain Lion on the new drive. Then I used the existing Time Machine backup and Time Machine restore function of Mac OS to bring personal files, applications, and settings from the backup (made in Lion) into the newly installed Mountain Lion. Every other application (besides Rosetta Stone) that I had installed under Lion worked in Mountain Lion after this process was completed.
I called Rosetta Stone support, and the gentlemen I spoke with thought that the problem was due to me not having deactivated the license under Lion, so the Rosetta Stone license verification server was thinking that I was trying to activate Rosetta stone on a third computer with the same Activation Code. So today I decided to boot up my Mac with the old drive that still has Lion installed on it. Once my Mac booted up, I launched Rosetta Stone, and the license verification completed normally, so I was able to use Rosetta Stone. Then I deactivated the Rosetta Stone license under Lion and received a Deactivation Code. After that, I was given a confirmation message that the deactivation succeeded. Then, I booted my Mac into Mountain Lion, launched Rosetta Stone, entered the Activation Code, and received the same exact 8111 error. I have now tried to activate the Rosetta Stone license under Mountain Lion several times, and I keep getting the same 8111 error.
So, the problem was not with Rosetta Stone license verification server thinking that I was trying to activate a third computer with the same Activation Code. Before I upgraded to Mountain Lion, I had Rosetta Stone software activated on two Macs with the same Activation Code. I am NOT trying to install this software on a third Mac. I am trying to run it on the same Mac that I was running it before I upgraded from Lion to Mountain Lion.
To me it looks like there is a problem between Rosetta Stone and Mountain Lion in that for some reason the verification of Rosetta Stone Activation Code is failing under Mountain Lion, whereas it is working fine under Lion.

After several days of going back and forth with Rosetta Stone support, and their useless advice, I finally figured out how to get Rosetta Stone TOTALe 4 to work under OS 10.8 Mountain Lion. Below are the instructions; follow them attentively, and you should get Rosetta Stone TOTALe 4 working under Mountain Lion.
Getting Rosetta Stone 4 to work under OS 10.8 Mountain Lion
    1. Download the Rosetta Stone package from http://www.rosettastone.com/v4upgrade
    2. In the Finder, search for "rosetta stone kind:app" without quotes.
    3. Drag the "Rosetta Stone TOTALe" application to Trash. This is your existing installation of Rosetta Stone TOTALe that doesn't work under Mountain Lion.
    4. In the Finder, go to /Library/Application Support/Rosetta Stone/TOTALe and locate the file "tracking.db3" (without quotes).
    5. Select this file and hit the "Return" key on the keyboard.
    6. Rename this file to "tracking-backup.db3" (without quotes).
    7. Click on Apple, click on System Preferences and go to Security and Privacy > General; under "Allow applications downloaded from:" select "Anywhere".
    8. Go to the Downloads folder and find the file "Rosetta_Stone_TOTALe.dmg" (without quotes) that was downloaded in Step 1.
    9. Double-click on this file. Then in the window that opens, double-click on the "Rosetta Stone TOTALe.mpkg" file (without quotes).
    10. Install the Rosetta Stone TOTALe application.
    11. In the Finder, locate the mounted package with the Rosetta Stone installer and eject it. (This step is important in order to be able to locate the updater package later on.)
    12. Quit the Rosetta Stone TOTALe application.
13 In the Spotlight or Finder, search for "rosetta stone kind:app" without quotes.
    14. Launch the newly installed Rosetta Stone TOTALe application.
    15. The application will prompt you to download an update.
    16. Agree to downloading the update and wait until the download is finished.
    17. The application will tell you that the update was downloaded successfully and that once you hit "OK" it will launch the updater. However, it does not launch the updater. Instead, you should open the Finder, and under DEVICES locate the mounted updater package.
    18. Click on the mounted updater package and run the updater application.
    19. Once the updater application finishes, quit it.
    20. In the Spotlight or Finder, search for "rosetta stone kind:app" without quotes.
    21. Launch the newly updated Rosetta Stone TOTALe applicatoin.
    22. You will be prompted for the activation key. Enter the activation key that came with your Rosetta Stone Software.
    23. Quit the Rosetta Stone TOTALe application.
    24. In the Finder,  go to /Library/Application Support/Rosetta Stone/TOTALe and locate the file "tracking.db3" (without quotes).
    25. Drag the "tracking.db3" file to Trash.
    26. In the same location (/Library/Application Support/Rosetta Stone/TOTALe), find the "tracking-backup.db3" file, select it, and press "Return".
    27. Rename the "tracking-backup.db3" file to "tracking.db3".
    28. In the Spotlight or Finder, search for "rosetta stone kind:app" without quotes.
    29. Click on the Rosetta Stone TOTALe application. It should launch with the user progress that you had before you upgraded to OS 10.8 Mountain Lion.

  • Since upgrading to Mavericks, I can no longer connect to my Bose Sounddock 10 via Bluetooth.  It was fine under Mountain Lion

Pairing my Bose Sounddock 10 to my Macbook Pro (early 2011) via Bluetooth was fine under Mountain Lion.  After installing Mavericks, connection failed. I deleted the Sounddock & attempted to pair it again.  I get an occasional 'flash' in the 'Devices' list, but no pairing occurs.
I have no issue pairing the Sounddock to my iPad running iOS 7.0.3.
Has Bluetooth been changed for Mavericks?
Is anyone else experiencing similar issues?

I actually have the same problem, since I upgraded to Mavericks my MacBook Pro can't seem to find the Bose sounddock 10. Has anyone found a solution to this.
It still works with the iPhone 5
    Thank you

  • HDMI Video corruption under Mountain Lion

I have a mid 2011 15 inch Macbook pro.  Upgraded to Mountain Lion.  I use an HDMI TV connection as an external monitor with the laptop closed.  I switch to another work PC on the TV using the source selection.  This causes the Mac to Sleep because no external monitor is detected.  When returning to the mac and waking it up via a blue tooth track pad, the video is corrupted.   It's just scrambled.
Unplugging the monitor and plugging it back in, doesn't help.
Unplugging the monitor, opening the mac, then plugging in the cable fixes it.  I use a mini display port to HDMI connector.
This worked fine with no corruption under Lion - but it is easily reproducable with corruption under Mountain Lion.
    Any advice?

Opening and closing the lid corrects the problem by causing the external monitor to refresh.
It doesn't have to be disconnected and reconnected.
The problem still occurs after the 10.8.1 update.

  • I have to input a password in order to log in each time I turn on my Macbook Pro Santa Rosa under Mountain Lion. Now my built-in keyboard suddenly doesn't respons at all. And the bluetooth function seems to activate automatically even though I turn it off

I have to input a password to log in to my Macbook Pro Santa Rosa under Mountain Lion. Now suddenly the built-in keyboard doesn't work at all so I cannot use my computer. I also notice that the bluetooth function is activated automatically even though I turn it off. It looks for an external keyboard. Please help me out. Many thanks!

I have the exact same problem trying to use the Remote app on both my iPhone 3gs and iPad 2 with either my Mac or ATV2.  My Remote app used to work on my phone - I can't recall if I ever actually used it with my iPad, but when I tried today, I got all the same results as you did (on both iPad, and then iPhone).  I  was using my ATV2 to play music from iTunes on my Mac and wanted to use the Remote app, but it would not connect to either device no matter what I did.

  • Safari slow under Mountain Lion

A friendly enquiry to the Apple Expert Community
After I have upgraded my LION configuraiton with the latest MOUNTAIN LION Release, Safari has become very slow in loading web pages. I am connected to a highly performing Internet DSL Link (VDSL 20kbit's DL / 2kBit's UL).
Under LION I had no problems in this area. Also I must mention; when using FIrfox under Mountain Lion (ML), the Internet and Web Page Loading Process is very fast!
What have I done for test purposes:
    1) I deactivated all iCould services to see whether it would improve - no change - still slow
    2) I Did a clean ML Installation with no software etc on it - from scratch - all patches loaded etc. - Safari STILL SLUGGISH !
    Assumption:
There is a bug or new feature within ML, possibly the new combined URL and Search Bar feature (searching ahead, etc) which slows down the load of Web Pages... ?
    Anyhow,
The results of my short tests give me a strong indication (proof) of, the slowness of Safari 6 under ML is not caused by mal user handling or buggy software installed, but an initial insufficiency of the first release of ML
    Question:
Does anybody have already found a slution to the described problem?
    many thanks for some feedback
    Urs

Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the page that opens.
Click the column headed Kind in the list of keychain items to arrange the list by kind. Look for certificates that are expired or invalid. Delete any you find.

  • Firewire, Virtual software and Chrome don't work under Mountain Lion.  Why?

I upgraded two machines to Mountain Lion:  A Core i7 iMac and a Core2Duo Mac Mini running OS X Server.
The first thing I noticed was that any virtual machine software icons - Fusion, Parallels and Virtual Box - show up with the circle crossed out, even though each version was the latest installed (came as part of a couple of MacUpdate bundles).
Then I noticed on the iMac, all firewire devices were not being seen.  I have a Lacie 4big Quadra hooked up via firewire 800, an LG DVD+R drive on firewire 400 (800 to 400 cable coming out of the Lacie) and an EyeTV 200, which all were working just fine under Lion.  System Profiler shows a "Maximum Speed:  up to 800 Mb/sec", but no devices listed as available.  I did dupe the original Lion installation to an external USB disk but haven't resorted to that yet.  Tried identifying all connected devices at the command line, but haven't had success finding the firewire devices.
Finally, although the latest Safari is nice and fast, I have been accustomed to working with Google Chrome.  On the iMac, every time I attempt to run Chrome, it comes up crashing and asking if I wanted to report it, which I do.  I even went as far as to delete and reinstall Chrome and I get the same result.  What's up with that?
    Ideas?
    Regards,
        Tony.

Since posting, I found out there were some updates available from VMWare, Parallels and Oracle (VirtualBox) which now allow them to run properly under Mountain Lion.
I still have the problem with Firewire and Chrome though...  For Chrome, I have deleted and reinstalled but get the same result.  As for Firewire, I'm almost ready to "reorganize" my wiring from adding another powered hub and hooking some of the devices via USB, or just follow the lines and plugging and unplugging, although moments before the reboot from Lion to Mountain Lion, all firewire devices worked in the configuration described and nothing had since changed...
    Regards,
        Tony.

  • HT1338 Quicktime Player no longer plays under Mountain Lion

Quicktime Player no longer plays under Mountain Lion.  It loads, I can see the video but it does not move when clicked on to advance. It does move page by page mannually with the arrow buttons but does not play when clicked on the video advance button.

    Is this a known problem?
Yes, if you mean that the MOV file may contain data that is not supported by the QT X AV Foundation, Modernizer, and Convert 64-bit QT X structures embedded in the Mavericks and Yosemite operating systems but still supported by the 32-bit QT 7 structure still included in these operating systems and/or supported by the "open" codec configuration accessible by QT 7.
Has the format of mov files been changed?
I don't believe the file container format has changed but security updates and/or Mavericks/Yosemite codec support limitations may fail to recognize or support a particular file container/data compression format combination. Since you have not provided any information regarding the data actually contained in the MOV file, it is impossible to be more specific here. However, in most cases it is possible to use any of the available FFmpegX based transcoding utilities to manually convert unsupported data to file/compression combinations that are compatible with both QT X and QT 7 based apps under any current Mac OS X systems.

  • Problems with WD software under Mountain Lion?

    HI
I come from the Mavericks discussion, where someone wrote that WD software (for Western Digital hard drives) made not only problems under OS X 10.9 Mavericks (data loss!) but also under Mountain Lion. I'm using a WD My Book Studio II (2 x 1 TB as RAID 1) and until now had no problems under Mountaion Lion. Which problem could occur? Many thanks.

Personal experience, software not included... I've had terrible issues with WD drives. I say "software not included" because I've never used WD drive software.
I had an 80Gb internal that was seized up "out of the box", another that went "belly up" in less than six months, and a 500Gb MyBook that "croaked" on me in less than six weeks, costing me more than $25,000 worth of music.
Finder (in OS X from 10.2 to 10.9) should be able to manage the drive WITHOUT any proprietary software from the drive manufacturer. But that's ONLY if the drive doesn't malfunction, or you don't have any connection problems.

  • Will the Zoom R16 work as an interface in Logic Pro X under Mountain Lion?

I've searched and found some indications that the Zoom R16 will work and has problems with earlier versions of Mac OS; so my question is actually will the R16 work under Mountain Lion (GB, Logic Pro, etc) as a control AND a recording interface?
I'll be using it on either a late 2011 MBP core i7 16GB Ram solid state HD (live playing, live recording) or on a late 2012 iMac core i7 32GB Ram solid state HD with Thunderbolt and USB3.0 outboard drives (recording).
Any input would be appreciated... I've been unable to definitely tell if it's an "install the driver, install Logic Pro, and then rock n roll" or it's a "doesn't work correctly, makes noise, crashed my system AND killed my pet rabbit" kind of thing.
    Thanks,
    Les

Thanks Art of Sound. I did see that post but it didn't give me a warm feeling about the Zoom.
My bad, I should have posted back after I messed around with this. It turned out that my problem was due to some kind of intermittent connection within the Zoom itself.
I got another one, and it's working fine now as a Mackie Control. It's a little arcane getting it hooked up in Logic (mostly due to inexperience on my part), but so far it seems to be working fine...
If I can spare anyone the frustration/confusion:
    Basically:
Download the latest and greatest Zoom R16 driver from their web site and install (I'm using OSX ML and it works fine with Logic Pro X).
Plug in Zoom R16 via USB 2.0 cable, (then on the Zoom itself, select USB, then AUDIO INTERFACE? (Enter), then SETTING? (Enter).
You may need to open Audio/Midi Preferences and set that to the ZOOM R16.
Open Logic and hopefully it sees the Zoom.
Under main Logic Pro X header, select Control Surfaces>Setup
Find and add "Mackie Control" (there are other ones, this one works, can't speak to the rest).
Then (and this is the part that I kept missing) make sure to select the Mackie Control (so it gets a blue box around it) and then make sure the Output Port and Input Port are set to Zoom R16_R24 using the little up/down arrow thingies at the right of each box. I didn't see these/figure out how to select at first... I'm a DA NOOB.
That's it. Open a new multitrack project, assign your inputs to channels, and off you go!
    Recording:
All inputs work, level control and faders (which aren't motorized, so it can be a little confusing at first)
Transport and control buttons work, the jog/shuttle is useful.
There are 5 function buttons that by default change the Logic screen setups (can be programmed differently)
Track button seems to mute/unmute only.
The on-board condenser mikes work, if you want them (channels 7 & 8 on the Zoom). Ugh.
Electric guitar direct in seems ok, and a Shure SM57 worked fine. I'll be working with some better mikes hopefully this weekend.
I have it working happily with a late 2011 MBPro, and a late 2012 iMac.
For the money, considering it's a stand-alone 8 track digital recorder (seems to work ok for that purpose so far) as well, it's actually sort of cool. Setup your mixdown in Logic as a wave project, and pull the files off the SD card (Zoom can be configured as a USB card reader easily). Will record at high sample rates allegedly.
I won't be so lazy in future, and I'll report my on-going experience with it.

  • 1080 60p AVCHD choppy only under Mountain Lion

1080 60p AVCHD .m2ts and .mov video playbacks, using VLC and QuickTime are choppy only under Mountain Lion.
The same videos used to playback smooth with VLC and QuickTime under 10.6.8 Snow Leopard and Sony PMB under BootCamp/XP so my 27" iMac with 12GB RAM and 512MB video RAM is not the problem.
Anyone has a solution to this? I'm thinking about going back to 10.6.8 Snow Leopard via TimeMachine.
Is there a way to assign more RAM to QuickTime, iMovie, VLC, or other media players since out of the 12GB RAM only 160MB was assigned to VLC and QuickTime during playback.
    Thanks for your help!

These discussions show that the same video-playback problems started with Lion even on 2011 i7 27" iMac and continues to ML:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/16160679#16160679
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3204054?start=0&tstart=0
I'm definitely going back to Snow Leopard and run Mountain Lion from a separate partition only when I need the ML-only Apple eBook app.

  • Why is Safari running so slow under Mountain Lion?

Why is Safari running so slow under Mountain Lion?

I have other mac's on my home network that are still running Snow Leopard and the are performing well. I wanted to use the iCloud so I upgraded and instantly started experiencing the slow down, to the point of ridiculousness. Other function are mixed some normal speed, others a day on the beach with the spinning ball. Firefox is at full speed, good thought, haven't checked Chrome yet.
Last night and hooked into a projection unit that adjusted my screen resolution for a presentation and after the event my Mac reset back to the normal settings and Safari launched and is running normal speeds so far. In the past there have been issues with performance speeds and certain resolutions, has anyone had similar luck or is this a fluke?

  • Safari 6.0 won't Play .m3u8 files under Mountain Lion

I have embedd some streaming video in my web page, but it won't play in Safari 6.0 under Mountain Lion 10.8.1.
The streaming video shows just fine on my iPad 3 and on my iPhone 4, and it shows just fine in Safari 5.1.7 when I boot up under an earlier system version.  In 10.8.1, however, all I see is the black "loading" bar, but nothing ever happens.
    Any help will be appreciated.

I am getting the same issue.
In the new Mountain Lion update 10.8.2 it says that it fixes safari so that you can have it automatically open safari and it will open all last windows.
I did the update, I don't have that option still under my general settings in safari, when someone else did the update and they have that option to reopen last windows when opening safari...help please

  • Landscape printing under Mountain Lion?

Is anyone else having trouble printing in landscape mode from Pages under Mountain Lion?
I've upgraded to Mountain Lion and installed the update for Pages. Ever since then, whenever I try to print in landscape mode, the result comes out in portrait mode instead with blank space at the top and the right edge cropped off. I have two different printers — a Xerox Phaser 6250 networked Postscript printer and a Canon Pixma iP3000 shared with printer sharing — and both of them have the same problem.
Right now, my workaround is to preview as PDF, and then print from the Preview app. That works fine. Printing in landscape mode from Safari works fine.
Are other people running Pages under Mountain Lion having this problem, or is there some other factor that I haven't thought of?

    Excellent suggestion.
I created a new account, and it does not have the same problem. So that probably means that some setting in my home directory is messed up.
However, I haven't figured out what it is yet. I quit Pages, threw out com.apple.iWork.Pages.plist, restarted Pages, printed a sample landscape brochure, and still have the problem. I then quit Pages and threw out several other printing-related preference files like:
    com.apple.print.custompresets.forprinter.Winsor.plist
    com.apple.print.PrintingPrefs.plist
    org.cups.PrintingPrefs.plist
    com.apple.print.PrinterProxy.plist
    com.apple.print.custompapers.plist
That didn't solve the problem either. Any other suggestions on where to look?
