Urgent! PowerMac G5 Smells Like It's Burning; Red Warning Light!
I have a paper due today, and the only copies of it are on a PowerMac G5 (Early 2005, 2.0 GHz, OS X 10.4.11) and a USB flash drive that I can't use with any of our Windows laptops.

I was using the PowerMac G5 last night, and I noticed a sudden, sharp burning smell. It smelled like someone had left an iron sitting too long on a shirt. Upon further investigation, it seemed to be coming from the rear fan vents (which were roaring much louder than usual; I believe this is called "hyperdrive"), so I put the Mac in sleep mode and took the side panel and air deflector off to see what was causing it. The smell left pretty quickly, so I couldn't really tell where it came from inside the computer, but I did notice a bright red warning light beside the RAM (behind the front power button; inside the #4 area in this diagram):

I immediately did some digging around on the internet, and found this forum discussion:

While it seems that this should fix the light, (A) I couldn't really see the sensor described, even with a flashlight, (B) the Air Reflector Sensor Board sticker thing seems to still be in place on the plastic Air Reflector tab, and (C) I can't see how the sensor's not working would cause the computer to smell like it's burning!
I also skim-read a couple other things and got the impression (from the first link below) that this model has had pretty serious issues with the power supply unit in general. Considering it's practically ten years old, it may be unusual that the computer hasn't had this problem sooner!

Does this seem to be a power supply issue? Is there a way to solve both the red light/fan hyperdrive issue AND the burning smell problem?
If I don't get this fixed in time, I may be able to go to the library tomorrow and get the project off of the USB drive using an iMac... But it will be late.No, it's not the liquid cooled model...

I dont know why the first message appeared but usually this message is shown when the HDD recovery or Recovery disk would be started.
Do you have some recovery disk in the CD/DVD drive?
Check this otherwise I have no explanation for that

While i charge my ipad with adapter the adapter more specifically the internal round cell of adapter and the usb port becomes very very hot... And ultimately my ipad back starts heating a bit. Is that normal?
Take your charger, cable & iPad to an Apple Store for evaluation.

Ok so first sorry for my english, Im not American.
2 months ago i bought a new Iphone 4 device from my phone company, after a month something happened to the home butten, when i pressed it it felt like something stuck in it.. like sand or dirt.. but the home butten worked perfectly. so i went to the phone company and they told me that it is a problem and they replaced it with a new one. but after a week my iphone fell and something happened to him so i sold it to someone i know, and with that money i bought a new one from privet store (unlike the last time, when i bought my iphone in a big phone company) and in the begining it felt new, i didnt had any problems, but 2 days ago when i woke up i pressed the butten and i noticed that the problem with the home butten is back.. and i dont know what to do.. i mean like its not a big deal or something, it just that when i buy something new, i excpet it to be new, and i want to ejnoy it while its new.
so i went to some guy i know and he told me that he will see what he can do, i paid him 130 Shekels (35$) and he told my that he replaced the butten with new one, but still it makes problems. it bothers me alot, because i pay almost 300 shekels per month (75$) and i expect from this device to be new.. and its killing me.
now, i cant go to the phone company because thats not their device, and i know what the people in the privet store will tell me.. that its my fault and bla bla bla.. so what can i do? i cant spend any more money on this..
its new.. for some reason this always happenes to me.. 3 devices, problems problems and problems..You are right, but how could i send it to Apple? when the phone company first replaced my iphone they had in stock alots of iphones and they just sent mine back to Apple and gave me a new one, so all i did is to give them my phone, but now how could i sent it to Apple? and i cant send it by myself, and the store wont do that, its a lost for them.. so sending it to Apple wasnt an option from the begining.
and for the record, i dont think the store where i bought it is an authorized shop.. its just a store who boughts phone's from Apple in a low price and sells it in much more money.. -

I want to pass along a couple of tips that will get you more and better response on this list.
1) There is an un-written rule that says more "stars" is better than just one star. Giving a one star rating will probably eliminate that responder from individuals that are willing to anser your question.
2) If someone gives you an answer that meets your needs, reply to that answer and say that it worked.
3) If someone suggests that you look at an example, DO IT! LV comes with a wonderful set of examples that demonstate almost all of the core functionality of LV. Familiarity with all of the LV examples will get you through about 80% of the Certified LabVIEW Developer exam.
4) If you have a question first search the examples for something tha
t may help you. If you can not find an example that is exactly what you want, find one that is close and post a question along the lines of "I want to do something similar to example X, how can I modify it to do Y".
5) Some of the greatest LabVIEW minds offer there services and advice for free on this exchange. If you treat them good, they can get you through almost every challenge that can be encountered in LV.
6) If English is not your native language, post your question in the language you favor. There is probably someone around that can help. "We're big, we're bad, we're international!"

Is this normal? Or is it only mine? :SThe battery itself as in the bottom left side of the notebook or the white magsafe adapter that is actually plugged in? Either way, it is supposed to get warm unless you are talking burning hot on fire. Then of course it is a little too warm.

Can i use my iphone while its charging for the first time
i just got the iphone 6. when i turned it on for the first time it had like half battery, i let it fully die and now im charging it for the first time. can i use it while its charging? every phone ive ever had had such a crappy battery life. i wanna finally have a good battery! lol

That is actually not considered best practice. Lithium ion batteries should be kept topped up when possible. That was previously recommended to calibrate the battery sensor. It never had any effect on the overall life of the battery. -

iPad 3 64GB WiFi+Cellular iOS 6.1.3(No jailbreak)I've seen that happen before and a simple reboot of the ipad took care of it. Don't do a shut down and reboot, but do a hard reset by holding in both the home and lock buttons at the same time. Ignore the power off slider, and eventually it will shut off. Keep holding both buttons until you see the apple logo pop up again.

When I try to burn a CD off of my MacBook Air (from iTunes) using the external CD drive, it acts like it is burning the CD, but then when I try to play it the CD is blank.

Error while opening iTunes CD driver. This could be caused by a corrupted iTunes file or a conflict with other older CD burning applications, either currently installed or previously installed and uninstalled incorrectly.

My new iPad2 has a toxic smell. My husband & I both got a severe headache from it. I have not even been able to set it up. There are two probable causes for the smell.
1. The new gorilla-Glass screens are made from many layers of a glue-type material, giving them a lot more durability but also more possibilities to be defective during manufacture. Thus, if a layer does not dry properly, other problems ensue, but this would normally be accompanied by other physical defects.
2. Electrical components often smell like that when they overheat (eg. sitting in a 120˚ warehouse or something along those lines). Many times they do sit in poorly air-conditioned back rooms before making it to the shelf. -

Unfortunatly it sounds like something has gone very wrong when updating your iPhone. Its possible that some files on your phone may have become corrupt while the update was taking place. To be on the safe side, I would do as above and see if the problem still exist.
