Smiley face on ipod nano

Hi, my sisters ipod nano has a smiley face on he screen and wont do anything. does anyone have a suggestion on how to fix this or what the problem could be.

This icon means that your iPod is, in some way, have issues.
First try putting your iPod into disk mode. This can sometimes cure an exclamation point and folder or sad iPod icon.

  • New watch faces for Ipod Nano

There are only two watch faces for the ipod nano. Are there any others out there that can be downloaded? I am loving my new Ipod watch and want to add to it.

Check the firmware on your Nano: Settings > About > Version If it is not 1.2 you need to sync with your computer and update it.

I have a new Ipod Nano. How do I change the clock faces? I only have the black and white one on the nano

Make sure your Nano is running the 1.2 firmware update.  Plug your iPod into iTunes and then click the Check for Updates button from under the iPod's Summary tab.

    Hello all,
I have a 14.88G iPod Nano that I currently use as my primary watch. A week or so ago I started to experience a blank white screen when I press the "sleep/wake" button instead of the watch face (I have it set to wake from sleep to display the clock). When I hard reset it, it will come back fine and the screen will respond and work as normal, as soon as I manually put it to sleep by pressing the "sleep/wake" button and then try to wake it the same thing happens and I have a blank white screen that doesn't respond to touch gestures or anything.
What I have tried so far to no avail:
Numerous hard restarts (holding the "sleep/wake" button with the volume - button).
Tried this: iPod nano (6th generation): Hardware troubleshooting
Changed the watch face to display.
Recharged the device overnight (without full discharge).
Since none of this works I'm out of ideas. Eventhough I have a 6G Nano it should no longer be under warranty since I was sent it as a replacement for a different (older) product.
Any ideas? Is this a known problem? Thanks in advance for any insight any of you could provide. Also, what time is it??
    Regards,

    Hey,
I have the exact same problem as you have described. I also used my ipod as a watch but starting from today, whenever I unlock it the screen turns white until a reset is done. Even a factory reset through itunes didn't fix it.
    Have you found any solution?
    Bah, this is annoying.

  • Free iPod Nano 6th Generation Always On Digital Watch Face "App"

I created what I call the Slideshow Clock.  I have only tested it for a couple hours, but it seems to work great, and should help quench the thirst for those of you who really wanted their Nano watch to stay on, or wanted a digital display.  Yeah, it's a little ridiculous but it's all I could do.  I tested other ideas, but they all failed.
It would also be helpful if someone would mirror the zip file, as my free host is not known for reliability.
    http://nicktech.heliohost.org/ipod-nano.shtml
    From the site:
The Slideshow Clock is a set of images to be used as a slideshow on the iPod Nano. These images show the time accurately when the slideshow is started on the appropriate image for the current time. The Slideshow Clock provides functions not otherwise available to the iPod Nano. These include: Always on, never sleep, constant clock face display; digital display; custom display. These functions are primarily desired by those wishing to use the nano as a wrist watch.
To use the Slideshow Clock, make sure your slideshow settings are set to repeat, and 20 seconds display time. Then open Photos and select the image that corresponds to the current time and hit play. There are 3 images for each minute of the day since each only displays for 20 seconds.
    Drawbacks:
-Slideshow Clock 1 is a 1.18MB zip file, which expands to 15.9MB, but unfortunately iTunes "optimizes" it into 1.09GB. So you will probably not want many different watch face styles installed on your nano at a time.
-Rapid battery drain. Suggestions: minimum brightness, use only during key geek moments, use while charging.
-Accidentally touching the display stops the clock.
-You have to "set" clock every time you want to use it.

    Hello NickTech,
I want to keep my iPod nano on all the time because recently my sleep/wake button stopped woking - it has become compressed. so every time I want to wake it I have to connect it to the charger or I can shuffle around a little with my music with the buttons on my earphones. So i was wondering if you have a solution for that? And if not than I want to Slideshow Clock thing like how you've explained above but that link you provided doesn't open. http://nicktech.heliohost.org/ipod-nano.shtml
    Can you help me out?
    THANKS!!

  • Where do I download iPod nano clock face

where do I download iPod nano clock face?

You don't say which iPod you have (I assume a Nano, but I don't know which generation), but here is a link to the iPod manuals. If you have the 6th generation (like me), and you look in chapter 9 on page 44, you will find that there are 18 clock faces already in the Nano. If 18 aren't enough, I'm not sure what to tell you.

My Ipod Nano 6g shows a sad/dead face when i try to turn it on, can i do something about that or is it just dead?

Sounds like it's flash storage is dying.  In that case, see this Apple support document.

  • Ipod nano having unhappy face

Water spilled all over my ipod nano, but it is turning on. It goes to the apple icon then the trouble/unhappy visit apple.com/support/ipod face. I went to the site tried everything! It will not connect to itunes and has made no improvement.... any suggestions! please help!!!

It's an electrical product. Don't turn it on - you may short circuit it.
Let it sit in the warm for a week and then try it.
If it doesn't work you'll need to buy a new one.
You wouldn't spill water over your computer and expect it to work would you?

  • IPod nano clock face

    this is driving me nuts,,!!
I only have black and white for clock face options... I just picked up new iPod nano from apple store few hours ago.
    I am doing
    Settings
    General
    Date & TIme
    Clock Face
    White or Black..
Should I supposed to see more options.. including the micky mouse??
    help!!!

    Hello,
Hav you updated your software to iPod nano software 1.2?? There was software 1.1 which only had 2 clocks, now theres heaps like Mickey and Kermit!!!
To update, connect you iPod, click CHECK FOR UPDATES in iTunes and then update. It's only about 100MB of internet
If you have done that, then go into CLOCK on home screen. tap once on the clock face and you SHOULD be able to scroll through the clock faces. If not, try going into settings, then into DATE & TIME then choose CLOCK FACE have fun choosing, theres too many. I change mine every 10 minytes!!

  • My Ipod nano 6th gen shows a white screen with sad face

    Hi
My ipod nano is showing me a white screen with a sad face on it
I tried to reset it but with no use, everytime it resets, it returns back to the sad face
and itunes won't recognize the device
this is a picture of the screen
    any help please

While the nano is connected to your computer and iTunes is open, hold down the volume up, volume down and sleep/wake button at the same time until iTunes brings up a dialog then release the buttons.
The dialog should walk you through 'recovering' the nano. See if that does it for you.
    Has it gotten wet?

  • Ipod nano 2nd gen and dock/alarm clock

i have read through alot of the posts and have not seen anything similar to my question.
i got my daughter an ipod nano for xmas.
we really dont leave the computer on alot and she was wanting a docking station/speaker setup. i found one that charges it/ has speakers and is also an alarm clock.
she likes the idea of having the alarm clock with it.
this is the model she got: curtis iMode ip210 link to where it was bought http://hhgregg.com/ProductDetail.asp?SID=0B568914D18A4CBEB2E80A95E8C46043&Produc tID=17180
we have not hooked it up yet because of a small problem maybe. (hooked up to power that is)
it came with a bunch of different adapters for the different ipod versions. well the nano one is incorrect. i guess due to ours being a 2nd gen version.
the ipod goes right on the dock fine with out it.
the little plastic adapter i got with the ipod kinda works in the slot of the radio but would need a little modification to snap in. the difference is the outside shape and would just needed some sanding. i have called the support number for the radio and all i could get from the was its not compatable. and i am not too sure why.
from what i have found out is all the ipod dock connectors are the same and there is no difference. not sure about this just what i have noticed.
i tried to call my local apple store and ask them but that guy started talking about firewire and problems. i told him how it docked and what it was and he still insisted on talking about firewire and those problems. i hung up as it didnt sound like he knew anything.
so now would i be ok in useing the adapter i got with the ipod and makeing some slight mods(sanding outside edge) to it. or is the something totally different between the 1st gen and 2nd gen that would mess up the ipod if put in this unit.
the reason i want this unit as it will replace her current alarm clock and she has a loft bed and its the only unit that we have seen that will fit and is in our price range.
    thank you for your help

ipod nano 2nd gen   Windows XP

The dock adaptor that came with the iPod is meant to fit Apple's universal dock and not a 3rd party accessory.
The reason you are having issues is because although the dock connectors on iPods are all the same (the pins are in the same place), the connector on the second gen nano is in a slightly different place than on the first. If you look at it from the bottom with the iPod face up, it's slightly more to the left. This, and the fact that it has a metal case with rounded edges, has made the new nano incompatible with almost all these type of accessories.
It's been mentioned here several times, and a few people have been able to get the manufacturer of the dock to supply them with an adaptor.
