Smooth jerky exposure changes in Premiere Elements 13

Folks - can anyone tell me how to smooth jerky exposure changes caused by the automatic camera settings (temporal smoothing) over a video clip? (Can't seem to find the temporal setting in Premiere Elements 13).

Thanks for the follow up replies.
Your Edit Menu/Project Settings/General readings suggest that you or the project have not set the correct project preset for the project. If the Canon is the major source of your Timeline content, then the project should not be 1080i (the project's default). It should be
NTSC
DSLR
1080p
DSLR [email protected]
You are going to have to go to a new project to correct that situation. You cannot change the project preset in 13/13.1 once the project preset has been established.
If the project (automatically) is not giving you the correct project preset, then you need to set it yourself (manually) before you import the source media.
File Menu/New/Project and Change Settings
In Change Settings, set for the project preset mentioned above. OK out of there.
In the New Project dialog that appears, rename the project and make sure there is a check mark next to "Force Selected Project Setting on This Project". OK out of there.
Then in the workspace, import your source media with Add Media/
Another factor is the custom made intro that I created in Aurora3d Title Animation. What are its properties and how do they compare with those of the Canon's 1080p29.97. If you remove the Title Animation from the Timeline, do the problems disappear even with the DSLR project preset pointed to?
Please review and consider.
Thank you.

  • JERKY when viewing inside Premiere Elements 10. Issue has come up a lot before

JERKY. Have Premiere Elements 10, Editing video from a Canon Still Camera ELPH 500 HS at 1920 x 1080 (absolutely love the video clips this camera produces). I bought a faster PC, i7 CPU 8 gig RAM, memory drive for one of the drives, very fast.
OK, if I only have one clip and a simple edit such as cut beginning and end, fade in start fade out end, everything is perfect. The minute I start adding a little complexity, text titles, other clips, anything, it slows down and becomes JERKY in adobe and very slow to start/ stop using the mouse or space bar. (It was a lot worse in Premiere Elements 8).

Per canon manual, clips are MOV (Image: H.264; Audio: Linear PCM (stereo))
Per properties on PC, here is what it says:
    Camera clips are .MOV
    video 1920 x 1080
    data rate 33478
    23 frames per sec
    Audio 2 sterio,
    14237 kbs
    48kz
    Project Settings:
    DSLR, 1020 x 1080, 24fps
Note that the window came up asking if I want to put my project settings the same as the video clip,
and I answered yes, so i think the settings in premiere are good by selecting taking the recommended settings.

  • Saving changes in premiere elements 10

Hi my name is Bryant and here is my problem.
I have my project done, then I create a DVD and watch it.  I find changes that I want to make, so I reopen my project and make the changes to the project.  I click Save. but when I create the new DVD. the changes that I made are not on the new DVD.  Specifically I made font size changes in my menus because the words were to big for the text boxes.  So I changed the sizes to a small size and I click the Done button, and I save the changes.  I then close out Premiere and then reopen my project again, but it was back to the original font size, Not the smaller font size changes that I just saved.  I don't know how to fix this problem?  Thanks to anyone who can help me.

    gk_ferrell
Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 was notorious due to many of its menu not retaining the background replacements in the finished DVD-VIDEO disc playback. The fix that we found was to add audio muted or non muted to the menu in the Disk Menus section of the program. It appears that these problems were gone in Premiere Elements 10, and I did report that at the time. From time to time, you find a menu whose buttons do not respond to the TV remote. But other than that, not much going on that is not typically explained away by overlapping objects, text maneuvers, spacing of menu markers, and related matters.
Since the project preset direct the program as to what set of the menu .psd set (s, w, or hd) will be available to you in Disc Menus, let us start with:
    a. What are you setting as your Premiere Elements 10 Mac project preset? What is the size of this project as reflected in the burn to Quality Area for Space Required and Bitrate?
    b. In the upper right corner of the Movie Reel menu choice is there a "HD" label or none?
    c. Are you replacing background in both main and scene menus? How many scene markers, how many main menu markers, and how many stop markers and how placed?
    d. When you preview the menu, are you getting any messages about object overlapping?
Let us start here and then decide what next.

  • PSE9 - audio working correctly in PSE9 is changed by Premiere Elements 9

When I create a slide show in PSE9 I intermix photos and short movies. The movies have audio tracks. I then add audio to the slide show, ending the audio before each movie and then placing a new audio after the movie. When I send the slide show to Premiere Elements 9 to create a DVD, the audio I have ended in PSE9 continues through the movie giving me dual audio during the display of the movie and making it difficult/impossible to hear the audio for the movie.
I want my PSE9 slide show to be exactly duplicated by Premiere Elements 9. Why doesn't it do this?

You can use the sound mixer in PRE9 to adjust or fade audio levels.
However you will probably find better advice over on the Premier forum:

  • How to change \Adobe\Premiere Elements\12.0\Encoded Files location to another drive?

Hello. I am using Premiere Elements 12. I am not able to burn blueray disk because I have insufficient disk space. I am using SSD drive so I need to move Adobe\Premiere Elements\12.0\Encoded Files location to another drive. How can I do this?

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12/12.1 running on? For now, assuming Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit....
In the Premiere Elements 12/12.1 Expert workspace, go to Edit Menu/Preferences/Scratch Disc and set the location for the category
    named Disc Encoding.
Please let us know if that works for you.

  • MTS files jerky when played back in the Editor of Premiere Elements 12

    Hi ATR
I know there is only you that helps us Adobe users with problems!!
I have now got Photoshop 12 and premiere Elements 12 set up yey!! so now I want to start my editing
So I go into Premiere Elements Editor and choose my files which are on my hard drive
These are MTS files that have been taken with my Sony Cybershot DSCHX20V however when I try to play back the videos they are jerky so I am unable to edit them
Now I know I asked this question before when I had the trial of 13 and you got it working for me but I cant find the answer
There is no orange or green line so I am unable to render the videos
In the project settings it says display format as 25fps Timecode
Frame size 1920 hoizontal 1080 vertical
    Hope you can help
    Jilly

    Morning ATR
The camera was set for AVCHD and so the videos that were taken are in the format AVCHD mts. I since changed it to mp4 format but the videos that I want ti edit are in mts format and like I mentioned they are jerky
When I am in the organiser of Premier 12 and I can hear the playback so that is ok but its jerky as well as the editor. I've also noticed that playing back in the organizer, the playback is very pixelated?
    1. Forced Timeline Rendering
i did exactly what you said ATR and changed the time stretch to 99% and that worked perfectly!! You're a genius!
    2. AVCHD.mts versus AVCHD.mp4
I found an MP4 format video and added it to my timeline with the MTS files and that one play ok. The time stretch on that file is at 100% so do I have to keep changing this to 99% all the time or only when its choppy and jerky?
Step 3 you asked me to do the below
    From an AVCHD.mts 1920 x 1080 @ 25 progressive frames per second) project, export to Publish+Share/Computer/AVCHD with Presets = MP4 H.264 1920 x 1080p25 and
tell us if the playback is smooth.
    Then, from an AVCHD.mp4 1920 x 1080@ 25 progressive frames per second) project, export to Publish+Share/Computer/AVCHD with Presets = MP4 H.264 1920 x 1080p25.
Then compare the smoothness of the playback of each.
From looking at my project settings the timebase is showing 50.00 frames/second?
You have said from a AVCHD.mts 1920 x 1080 @ 25 progressive frames per second) project? Do I need to change this now?
Would you be able to tell me how to do a screenshot in windows 8 please? It would be so much easier but I am struggling to do it on the website itself
    Thanks ATR
    Jilly

  • Why Premiere Elements 10 doesn't work smoothly?

First  of all I am using Windows Vista 32 bit (on a HP Pavilion dv6).
Actually it happens lately that the software video screening doesn't work properly smooth so that i cannot see the video into the software and i must export it if i want to see the result. It stops, that makes working impossible.
By the way, since two weeks, when i open the software, a screening tells me that i have to update the video card, if i want better performances.
If i click "OK", Premier however starts, but it doesn't work smoothly, like i told. The ironic fact is that i had already update the version of video card, so i've got the february version.
So my question is: what do i have to do? have i to change my video card? Or what else?
    Plese help me
    Thank you

To help others following your Premiere Elements 10 Windows Vista 32 bit issue, I am posting the link to your recent thread in which we discussed the matter and went through troubleshooting.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1259758?tstart=0
The conclusion that I arrive at when the thread was ended,
    if
    a. you have the latest video card driver version according to the web site of the manufacturer of that video card
    and
    b. you have deleted the BadDrivers.txt file and still have the problem
    then
this situation is indicative of replacing the video card with another supported video card
(as per the comments of Daksha123 in the thread that I cited in our recent discussion of this matter)
    So in summary,
if user is getting warning message : "We have detected an incompatible display driver. To get a better and faster playback performance, please update your display driver "
    1. User should try to get the latest driver for the card available on those systems,
    2. If user is getting same message again even after updating the driver, try to re-launch app after deleting BadDrivers.txt file,
    3. If even deleting “BadDrivers.txt” is not working and they are again getting same message, then that driver is really a bad driver for PRE9. PRE9 will run in pure software mode in that case.
But, I wonder what would happen if you just uninstalled and then reinstalled the present video card driver?
We will be watching for your progress.
    Thank you.

  • How to change the default new project folder in Premiere Elements 13?

I keep all my projects on a different drive than the default My Documents folder. How can I change the default setting so that Premiere Elements does not try to create new projects in the My Documents\Pemiere Elements\13.0 folder? In fact, I do not want that folder to be used for anything (including layouts and styles).

    steveb
    Short version....
Referring to the 13.0 Folder in the Adobe Folder in documents, you wrote
In fact, I do not want that folder to be used for anything (including layouts and styles).
I do not believe that is possible.
    For my best case scenario
Set the Scratch disks, not to Same As Project, but set for Custom with the set being the save location that you set for the project file.
Set the project save in, my preference, File Menu/Save As.
You are going to end up automatically with a 13.0 Folder in the Libraries/Documents/Adobe/Premiere Elements/13.0 Folder every time you open a Premiere Elements project. No matter how many times you try to delete the 13.0 Folder. And that 13.0 Folder will contain a Layout Folder and, if you applied a Style in the project, a Styles Folder.
    Longer Version....
There is no problem directing your project file to the save location of choice. You can do that two way
    1. After you open the project to the Expert workspace, go to File Menu/Save As to change the name of the project as well as the location for the save in order to avoid the defaults.
    2. You can also do that through File Menu/New/Project.
That 13.0 Folder also gains its contents from the settings of the scratch discs in Edit Menu/Preferences/Scratch Disc - some examples preview files, disc encoding files, conformed audio files... Some Files/Folders are placed there automatically. So what to do to keep the Documents area clear of Premiere Elements files, project or otherwise after you have move all that you thought you could to a non Adobe default location? See above best case scenario.
    Miscellaneous
    1. If you set the save location of the project in either of the 2 ways, that setting will not hold from project to project. It will hold for that particular project.
    3. If you set the Scratch disks in Edit Menu/Preferences/Scratch Disks, those settings seem to hold from project to project as well as for in the particular project.
Stevenb, please review and consider and verify. I have gone through several scenarios on what you would prefer. But, I do not see a way to make that happen with the programming that exists.

  • I can't change the pan / zoom duration in Premiere Elements 13

Ok I'm getting really frustrated especially after I just watched a video tutorial which clearly shows how to do this in Premiere Elements 10 and I have JUST purchased version 13!
What I'm not able to adjust is the speed or duration between focus frames in a pan / zoom; after it's set up.
You are supposed to be able to go into the PAN TOOL, and either click on the pan duration, or in the In the Pan Time dialog, scrub the time duration to the desired value, or enter a value in the dialog box, OR simply adjust / drag the focus frame markers in the timeline (like in the video tutorial I watched...) to change the pan duration.  In my software at least NONE of these work.  (All these from:  Adobe Premiere Elements Help | Pan and zoom to create video-like effect)
I can't click on the pan duration, well if I do nothing happens, I can't even get a Pan Time Dialog box; so I can't do it that way; and lastly I can't click and adjust the focus frame markers in the timeline....none of it works and I can hardly believe that this is correct...the only way that I can adjust the pan time, is to delete the effect completely and start it over...this can't be correct can it??
    Any help would be appreciated!!!

Ok yep you are great, so I'm sorry I'm attempting to do it on video clips, not stills.
I was aware that the last versions of PE had similar Pan and Zoom workspaces, that's why I knew or thought I knew that my situation could be solved.
The first link that you recommend is exactly where I got the third paragraph of my question, so I had already reviewed that and to me when you read the directive it still makes it sound like you can adjust the focus frame markers....?  (very confusing)
The second link you sent might have helped me realize that the tool doesn't work the same way for Stills and it does for Video clips; (I really think like on the Adobe web site this difference should be markedly more clear to help with confusion; but in their defense maybe it's me being slow to understand)
I was able to figure out some of the difference through perseverance last night, and did figure out (like your last link explains) that you can move the CTI and then add a new focus frame...BUT I still have my original question...how can you adjust the pan duration on a video clip after it's been made and you have left the pan and zoom tool like if you want to edit that timing... I think the answer is that you can't lol, I think it has to be deleted or a new focus frame added and the other deleted to adjust the timing...am I correct?
This quote is taken from the Adobe web site one of the links you shared
You can work with focus frames in videos the same way that you work with focus frames for images. However, only those options that are relevant to movie clips appear in the pan and zoom tool.
I think maybe the last sentence is attempting to explain that but it's just so ambiguous...
Just trying to figure it out!  I do appreciate your help!

My Adobe Premiere Elements was working a little while ago -- nothing has changed on my PC -- now I get error 150:30

    seadrift
What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what Windows computer are you running it?
The 150:30 error is probably indicative of a licensing problem.
How long has the problem existed?
If it persists, please check out the following Adobe document related to troubleshooting this type of matter...perhaps starting with
    solution 2.

  • FAQ: How has Elements membership changed in Photoshop Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 11?

Q: How has Elements membership changed in Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 and Adobe Premiere Elements 11?
A: Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 and Adobe Premiere Elements 11 do not offer Elements membership as an integrated, in-product service. This means that the following features are not available in Elements 11—nor will they be available in previous versions of Elements after the transition period CLICK HERE to see dates and details:
Syncing of albums, photos, and videos between Adobe Elements Organizer software and the Photoshop.com online Organizer
Automatic backup and storage of your photos and videos
Ongoing delivery of new templates, artwork, and movie themes (for Elements Plus membership subscribers)
    Elements Inspiration Browser
Elements 11 is, however, integrated with Revel, so you can share your photos to Revel for access on the web and across your mobile devices. You can also import your Revel photos to Elements 11 for editing and creating.

  • HD video does not run smoothly in Premiere Elements 7

I have been using Premiere Elements 7 to edit short videos for a couple years now with my standard definition camcorder. I recently bought an HD camcorder. It is impossible to edit these videos in the timeline as they don't run smoothly at all. The raw videos themselves play perfectly but not in Premiere. How can I fix this? Is there a way to lower the quality of the videos temporarily in the timeline just so I can edit them with the finished product being in HD?Will upgrading to Elements 10 fix the problem?

I only bought a mid-tower case instead of a full tower case (my bad... but had to fit in the space available on my office desk!) so I use the three drives that will fit
Depending on your exact hardware (motherboard brand & model AND USB2 enclosure brand & model AND external hard drive brand & model) AND the type of video file, you may... or may NOT... be able to use an external USB2 hard drive for SD (Standard Definition) video editing

  • How do you change project settings on Premiere Elements 12?

I have Premiere Elements 12. When I view a DVD I created of wedding photos, the edges of people and objects are jagged and generally the photos appear blurry. On my old Premiere Elements 8, I did not have this problem - the pictures on DVDs were clear and sharp. When checking the project setting on Premiere 8, the project settings for Capture was DV which changed all my settings for General and Rendering project settings. On my new Premiere 12, the Capture setting is HDV and I cannot get the General and Rendering settings to change when I change the Capture setting to DV. The online help from Adobe says to correct this, "In the New Project dialog box, click Change Settings," but when I start a new project in Premiere 12, "Adobe Premiere Element Editor" is the only dialogue box that shows and I cannot see a change setting button. Does anyone know how I can change my project settings so that when I select DV it will change all the presets for the General and Video Rendering settings?

    jacquelinebaker
The party line is that you cannot change project settings once the project settings have been set. You need to start a new project.
Edit Menu/Project Settings/General does not offer the opportunity for any significant project settings change in this type of situation.
I have discovered that, under certain circumstances, that the user can change the established project preset without starting a new project.
The approach to doing this involves editing the Notepad document of the saved closed project file (project.prel file). I have written about this in the following blog post.
    http://www.atr935.blogspot.com/2013/05/pe11-changing-project-settings-without.html
You need to weigh the pros and cons of going through the procedure or just starting a new project and start the project again.
All of the above being said, on to setting to the correct project preset to match the properties of your source media. Please refer to the issues involved and how to set manually the project preset when the program is not doing the job correctly or best automatically.
    http://www.atr935.blogspot.com/2013/04/pe11-accuracy-of-automatic-project.html
To the specifics...if you are doing DV data capture firewire into Premiere Elements 12 Capture Window, the scenario would be...
    a. Open Premiere Elements 12 to the Expert workspace, go to File Menu/New/Project and Change Settings. In Change Settings,
change the project preset to NTSC DV Standard or NTSC DV Widescreen depending on NTSC or PAL set up and 4:3 or 16:9 DV data source. Then before you exit that area, make sure to place a check mark next to "Force Selected Project Setting on This Project" in
the new project dialog. Exit that area and return to the Premiere Elements 12 Expert workspace for your Add Media/DV Capture selection.
If you are doing HDV data capture firewire into Premiere Elements 12 Capture Window, then same scenario except the project preset change involves NTSC HDV HDV 1080i30 (if NTSC). In this instance, the Edit Menu/Project Settings/General should look like
Please review and consider and then let me know if I have targeted you question or need clarification.

If Layers is greyed out it possibly means that you are in Quick Mode. Select 'Expert' and all the options should become available.
Try permanently associating psd files with C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 12\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe and see if that fixes the issue. Instructions here - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-8/choose-programs-windows-uses-default.
