Smooth QT - Flash transition

Hello folks,
I'm just about to launch a new site to represent my multi-media work (I'm a performing artist/visual artist) and the man who has made my website made Flash movies out of the quicktimes I supplied to him. They look *ok* when the image is very simple, but there are loooong portions that look like absolute crap. I know this posting a Flash question to an AE forum, but I have a feeling some of you may know the best way to get a professional Flash movie from an AE-produced quicktime movie.
If anyone has any info at all, please let me know! :)
Much appreciated.
- Fredo Viola

Like any other encoder, Quicktime is going to be reliant in what else is installed on the system doing the encoding. If your guy has the Flash Video Encoder installed, then he has some decent options in the controls used in encoding. If he was using the higher quality preset for the On2 VP6 encoder I don't why it wouldn't look pretty good.
Squeeze and the others offer you more options but maybe you could re-encode using his setup under your supervision.
Good luck!

  • How do I create an orange flash transition effect using Adobe Premiere CS6?

I am trying to create an orange flash transition effect using Adobe Premiere CS6 with my MAC computer.

    Try this:
Add Cross Dissolve, cut and nest
Add a Fast Blur to the nest and tweak as in first screendump
Superimpose orange Color Matte and tweak as in second screendump
Make (fixed) effects into presets for future use.

  • Wmode messing up flash transitions

    Hope someone can help...
    http://www.ionizedesign.com/compther/index.asp
In order to get the menu to lay on top of the flash movie, I
need to use the wmode=transparent attribute. However, when I add
that attribute, it screws up the timing of the transitions I'm
using between images in IE 6.0. (You can view it in FF to see how
it should work). I'm using the MTC (Mask Transition Component:
    http://flash8components.com/)
    I guess there's 2 options:
    1. Is there any way to get the menu to lay on top of the
flash movie WITHOUT using the wmode attribute?
    2. Anyway to get the flash transitions to work with the wmode
    in IE?
    Thanks

    Not really .. redesign it

No .. wmode transparent is incredibly buggy and has been for

  • Flash transition and widescreen filter don't mix

I just got a refurbed Mac pro and the unversal versionn of FCP 5.1. When I loaded my project that had 5 seconds of a still frame and a flash transition to a 30% slow motion clip with a wide screen effect and the wide screen will not show. FCP acts weird. I knew I needed to update FCP to its 5.1.4 version. Well my macpro did not come with a airport express card to connect to the internet, so I thought I could down load the update on my power book and move it over and load it on my Mac Pro. It said I have already downloaded it. I can't find it anywhere. I called support and they said to ask the administrator to reset it so I can down load it. Any suggestions?

1.Download the Flash setup file from here:
[http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe Adobe Flash - Plugin version].
    Save it to your Desktop.
    2. Close Firefox using File > Exit
then check the Task Manager > Processes tab to make sure '''firefox.exe''' is closed,
    3. Then run the Flash setup file from your Desktop.
    * On Vista and Windows 7 you may need to run the plugin installer as Administrator by starting the installer via the right-click context menu if you do not get an UAC prompt to ask for permission to continue (i.e nothing seems to happen).

  • Third party Flash transition effects

Can third party transition effects be used in Catalyst?

The effect code would not be accessible to Catalyst. You can use Flash Profession to animate the item with the effect you want, then import that swf into Flash Catalyst. FC does allow you to play and stop a swf.
The imported swf should be published with player 10.1 as the target.
    Hope this helps,

  • Making Animation Smooth in Flash

    Hi there,
I've just started using Flash today so my question may seem a
bit lame . . . but here goes.
I took a series of photos of a phone set that I dropped into
Flash so that I could animate it spinning round. The spinning works
fine but the overall is effect is bumpy as hell. Does anybody out
there know how I can smooth it out so that the phone just spins
with no obvious joins between each frame?
I followed the in-built guide and used 'keyframes' is that
right, or is there a better way to do this?
    Thanks,
    Ali

It could be that your bitmap phone images are too large, and
thus requiring too much processor power. When bringing photos or
other bitmaps into Flash, it is best practice to bring them in at
the actual size you want them to appear, so any resizing should be
done before importing them into Flash. If you import a 1200x800
photo into Flash and then reduce it within Flash to 600x400, Flash
still treats it as a 1200x800 image.
I also tend to do any jpeg formatting before importing into
Flash, since you have greater control of jpeg settings. But this is
a personal choice, and something you may want to experiment with.
FYI, for some reason Fireworks does the best job of jpeg reduction
(best image quality/smallest file size) compared to Photoshop,
ImageReady and others (I learned this latter fact from one of
Adobe's top designers, who couldn't explain it, but demonstrated
    that it's a fact).
Increasing the frame rate to as high as 24 fps (same as
TV/video) might help. Too high a frame rate will put even greater
strain on the viewer's processor, since it has to deal with that
    many more bitmaps per second.

  • How Smooth should Flash Video Play on 6Mbps DSL?

    Hello,
I am noticing a lot of stuttering on my Flash videos viewed over the internet, Win 7 64bit and IE 8, Opera & Chrome.
Here is a link to some tests - http://watchmymvp.com/Encoding%20Test/EncodingTest.htm
Please give some feedback on your playback experience if you would!
    Some background:
I am a video producer who shoots, edits, encodes and manages a few websites.  I am very familiar with bitrates and encoding.
The videos I am seeing stuttering on are created from HD content and were encoded in Adobe Media Encoder at a bitrate from 775kbps down to 400kbps.  When I play these through my 6meg DSL connection there is a constant random stutter like the video is stuggling with a low buffer.  This happens even after the download bar shows the entire video is downloaded.
So am I expecting too much from Flash video?  Will it always be an "internet" experience and not smooth?
When I double-click the .swf files in Windows Explorer they play just fine, very smooth.
The Flash player is the latest which was uninstalled and re-installed
    Thanks!

    Thanks for your reply.
So as a content creator, what can I do to improve the playback?
I have examples on that page that are at 400kbps and still stutter.  I would think my 6meg connection could playback a 400kbps video?
Or might I have a problem with something on my end?
I need to figure this out as work needs to be put on client's websites.
    Thanks for your insights.

Hello Vicente, thanks for your reply.
So the videos did not show stuttering when you watched them?  Could I ask what your computer specs are? - Mac/PC, browser etc...
I get a random stutter which shows up more when there is camera movement.
I am trying to track down why this is happening when the .swf file played locally plays perfectly.
Since I an in the video industry, I would like these files to play as if they are on a television is that is possible.
    Thanks for your input.

  • Flash Transitions in Keynote 3

I am trying to get my transition effects to export with my slide show, but it keeps giving me an error at the time of export. It does create the flash file but no transition effects are present. Is there an issue here?
    Thank you

When you say the copy of your slides are squished, you mean the text on the slide? Is the text too short or too thin? If it's difficult to read or blurry, you may need to make the type larger before compressing. If it's changed it's "look" then we may need to take another look at your export settings.
You can't stop Flash from looping that I know of. There may be a Keynote setting for looping that might prevent it, but I don't have access to my Mac right now.
The music probably can't sound better because the version of Flash that Apple supports as export only used lower quality audio. Also, if your settings in Keynote for the delay on the slides aren't being adhered to in the export, that could be another issue that might not be able to be resolved.

  • No smooth Blu-Ray transitions...

    hi all!
this problem is nearly driving me crazy: i use encore cs3 and want to have transitions between my menu and the clips (e.g. static menu -> button pressed -> transition (menu items fade out) -> video clip).
i used the transition feature but i always have a black screen for about a second between all files (menu to transition, transition to clip) when playing the disc.
i tried converting the timeline in premiere and then importing to encore - and also had a shot at dynamic linking from after effects. but always the same problem i encounter on both, my samsung bd-player and my lg bd-r in combination with powerdvd 7.
any help is highly appreciated since i couldn't find any solutions on the web and i ran out of other options to try...

    heiner.bremer,
Is this "black screen" in Encore's Preview, or on a burned BR disc? Preview does this with DVD Projects, but the "black screen" does not show up in a burned DVD. I am only guessing that it might be the same for BR discs. Maybe someone else can confirm, or deny this.

  • Quicktime not smooth between Slide Transitions...Quicktime

    Aloha from Maui:
My exported slide show to Quicktime is not smooth in Quicktime playback?
    Mahalo.
    Marty from Maui

I notice that the export to Quicktime works well if:
    1. You use single-pass encoding
    2. You turn off 'Reorder frames'
Otherwise, you may find that slides are dropped, animations don't appear correctly and the playback framerate in Quicktime appears terrible.

  • Migrating G5- Intel iMac: smoothing the transition, unusual setup....

I've had a new Intel iMac for literally two months now, to replace my aging revA G5 iMac, and have not yet found the time to get it set up. I'm hoping to get to it this Sunday.
One thing that's been holding me up is the desire to have the transition as smooth as possible and worry that it might not be. This is a production machine (maybe not in the traditional sense, but I run my life on it, so that makes it "production" for me) and I don't like the idea of rocky transitions, particularly in the area of data and app migration.
One of my primary questions, and the primary question of this post, is whether (and if yes, how best) to use Migration Assistant.
So on my current G5 machine, I have the internal HD divided into 2 partitions:
    Partition 1 contains:
    a) the OS (10.4.11);
    b) my admin user account, which I only use for troubleshooting and the occasional admin tasks that are awkward under my standard user or in any event more convenient when running as admin; and
    c) a couple of other infrequently-used user accounts (e.g., a couple of guests that very occasionally use the machine)
    Partition 2 contains:
    a) My primary user account
    b) Some data that I prefer to keep outside my main user account, primarily to make my daily backups more manageable, and which I back up manually.
    1. So, first question is whether Migration Assistant can handle that kind of setup. I seem to remember using it successfully when migrating from my G4 iMac to my G5. My G4 iMac had four partitions (this was in the early days of OS X when some were recommending putting OS 9 on a separate partition). I don't remember what I did but do seem to remember using Migration Assistant for most of it.
    2. Second question: I assume I will have to repartition the HD on the Intel iMac and reinstall OS X from the DVDs if I want more than one partition on my HD. I'll probably do 2 partitions again and leave a bunch of free space (not included in any partition) for other uses later. So my first boot should be directly from the install DVD.
If I do that, can I still use the Migration Assistant? Again, I'm thinking I must have done this when I set up the G5 five years ago. What would my procedure be, if it's not going to be really obvious?
    3. I have all my data backed up to multiple external HDs using Retrospect 6. My alternative would be to restore data from the backups. The main issues with this approach are: (a) it might not be quite as "put it back exactly as it was" as Migration Assistant would do things (although Retrospect is *supposed* to do it); and (b) I don't have Retrospect 8 yet, and there continue to be reports of problems with it (although 8.1 or 8.2 or whatever they are up to now) is supposed to have resolved a number of the very significant problems with the 8.0 release.
So the next question: Should Retrospect 6 run under Rosetta under 10.6? Would you trust it to do so when restoring your data? Would you trust the latest Retrospect 8 to do so? Which would you pick?
    4. Finally: I have read scattered reports of problems with using Migration Assistant to migrate from a PPC to an Intel Mac. Some of them seem to just involve slow performance in web browsers, possibly caused by PPC plugins or other lurking PPC code that I guess would require Rosetta to run, slowing down performance. (I have the tricked-out i7 machine so I'm not that worried about sluggish performance, although it makes sense to ferret out unneeded PPC code of course.) There may have been other problems reported as well but I don't remember what they are at the moment -- I'll have to look some more.
So: Is the Collective Mind aware of problems with MA in migrating PPC -> Intel, and if so, thoughts on preventing/mitigating the issues?
Thanks so very much. I know this is a ton of questions. I'm grateful to you for helping smooth out this transition.

So Disk Utility in 10.6 lets you "hot"-resize partitions?
    That came in with Leopard.
I had considered moving my primary user's home folder to the boot partition, based on advice in this forum (adaptive hot file clustering, etc). But it sounds like in some ways it may be simpler to make the initial setup more or less identical to my current one, and then change it later.
Probably. I haven't tested whether you can restore a second partition to the one you're running from; if not, it would take a couple of extra steps to get the home folders there without screwing up the permissions. And I always try to only make one big change at a time.
Since I have 1 TB to play with on the new machine, and only 250 GB +(edit: 150 GB)+ on the old one, I have plenty of room to create large partitions. My understanding from the links you posted is that I can enlarge a partition as well as shrink it (as long as the enlarged partition doesn't bump into an existing partition, and after backing everything up of course
Mostly. You can expand a partition "down" in the diagram DU shows, but not "up."
I wonder if I can create free space in between partitions in Disk Utility.
Yes, sort of, by making, then deleting a partition. But since you can't move or expand a partition "up," I can't think of a reason to do that. (I understand some other utilities can do that.)
You posted some reasons in this thread about why separate partitions are not recommended (seek times, adaptive hot file clustering), and I understand those. Are there others?
Those are the main ones I'm familiar with. Another (that you probably won't run into for a long time, if ever) is that if you guess wrong, you may either waste a lot of space on the OSX partition, or have too little there, with potentially nasty consequences.
One reason I've persisted in this partitioning scheme has to do with backups and restores, although I may be totally off base in this. I've envisioned some scenario where something on my boot volume gets so badly hosed that an Erase and Install is the best cure. But if my primary user data resides on a separate partition it would seem to make it much easier to get back in business -- I wouldn't have to worry about restoring my primary user data. The other user accounts on the boot volume would of course have to be restored.
There is no +Erase and Install+ anymore. No +Archive and Install,+ either. Just Install. It replaces OSX with a fresh version, without disturbing anything else. It even preserves configuration and settings in /Library, and files installed there by 3rd-party apps. Rather amazing!
Some folks do that, of course (perhaps out of old Windoze habits), but it's rarely required, or does any good on OSX. In some unusual situations, perhaps it would help. A couple of very experienced users here have not done a so-called "clean install" since 10.2!
I assume Setup Assistant will guide me through the steps of hooking up the old machine and booting it. I don't know if it needs to boot in Target Disk Mode for this to work, but I strongly suspect it does.
Yes. If you choose to transfer directly from it, which is probably best. You can also transfer from a clone (and, once you're on SL, a Time Machine backup). All documented in excruciating detail in [Setting up a new Mac from an old one or its backups|http://web.me.com/pondini/AppleTips/Setup.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of the +Snow Leopard > Installation and Setup+ forum).
Thanks again. I'll post back after the surgery.
    Cool. Fingers crossed here.

  • Exporting to Flash files

I have created a number of projects, flash output, and they

  • Flash video presentations

I've put together a number of multi-screen flash
presentations using stills and flash transitions and effect but I
have a 3-screen display to do which features full screen video on
each screen. I suppose the question is: Is Flash a viable way to
deliver at 800 x 600 30 fps high motion video or should I stick
with either DVD or some way to present 3 separate quicktime movies
    simultaneously?
Flash works great on the 4-plasma screen display I have done
