SMPs not deleting user state as configured

We have CM2012 SP1 R2.  Some of our SMPs are running out of space.  They are configured to delete user state data after 14 days but I see in some cases there is older user state data sitting on the SMP taking up space.
First question is why is the user state data not deleting after 14 days as configured on the SMP properties?
Second question is, is it safe to delete these folders manually?  Or is there a better method to "clean-up" the old user state folders?
Thanks much!
FP

Just a public service announcement...  Don't delete the whole directory that holds user state info, just delete the USMT sub-folder and leave the large cryptic-named folder on the state store intact.  If you delete the whole folder then SMS_Executive
service will start to crash and bring down the site server that your SMP is on.  For more info see this article:

Thanks,

  • Can not delete users

Logged in as the administrator, I still can not delete users. I click the '-' button, it asks to confirm and nothing happens. It's that simple. OS X Server V4.0.3. Run disk permissions verify/repair several times, no joy.
    Any suggestions?

Could it be that you're logged in with an account with system administrator privileges but not Open Directory administrator privleges (the difference was more obvious in the old server admin app than the new one from MOS 10.7 + Server 1 and up)?

  • Refresh Scenario is not restoring user state.

I am attempting to run a Refresh scenario to migrate systems from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 Update.  I am running MDT 2013 and WADK for Windows 8.1.  I am using a Standard Client Task Sequence.  However, the restore of the userstate with loadstate.exe
    is not processing.
My Log files are at https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=437e847ec515b556&id=437E847EC515B556%21119&action=Share#cid=437E847EC515B556&id=437E847EC515B556%21119
If you look at BDD.LOG at 04/24/2014 2:38:05 PM you will see that it builds the Base Arguments line to pass to loadstate.exe, but then it does not run loadstate.  Same with the SMSTS.LOG file at 4/28/2014 2:38:04 PM, you will see that it says it is
executing ZTIUserstate.wsf /restore, but it does not.
    Any ideas?  Thanks

  • Can you restore a deleted user?

Is there a supported way to restore a 'deleted' user?
Client has accidentally deleted a user. The database record is not actually deleted, but OUSR.Groups is set to 99, so the record is still there.
The clicnt does not want to replace the deleted user with another because they have several databases so they would have to do it in them all to avoid using another licence.
I suspect that there is not a supported way to do this, but I thought that I would check on here.

    hi doughlas,
    Check this sap
note 827232 - Recreation of deleted users
    Summary
    Symptom
It is not possible to recreate a user that has been removed with the
same user code. When trying to do so, error message "Cannot insert
    duplicate key" is displayed.
    Other terms
Cancel, remove, delete, add, code, name, SAP Business One
    Reason and Prerequisites
It is by design that a user that has been removed is still stored
in user table OUSR as he might be linked to transactions and
therefore needs to remain in the table. The field "User Group" in
table OUSR indicates whether a user is deleted or not (deleted users
have the value "99" in this field).
    Solution
You need to recreate the user with a different code.

  • State Migration Point Data not Deleting

    Hi
I've seen this issue mentioned numerous times on these forums but it looks like a tricky one to get a solution for - would appreciate if somebody could assist
I have SCCM 2012 Deployed with a State Migration Point on another Site Server - I migrate to Windows 7 and the Task Sequnce used include a Capture User State Section and a restore User State Section - The Migration/Task Sequence completes
successfully - have checked reports ....
The Proble is I have set the Stae Migration Point to delete the User State Data to Delete after 3 days  ...
it never does this - the Entries remain in the USMT section of SCCM - and if I log onto the Server with the State Migration Role all the data is still there after 3 days.
This is a major problem - is there anyway to force the State Migration Point to delete after 3 days regardless. I know from reading that the issues look to be around the fact that their may be an issue with the "Release Store" Section - however my task sequence
continues -and is marked as successful
SO Basically is there a way to force the Delation of Data automatically through the State Migration Point and if not  .... will a manual delation work and if so what folders should I delete (had a nasty issue the other day where I deleted one of these
User State Folders and the State Migration Point went offline, only came back online when I created a blank folder to replace the folder I deleted)
Would really appreciate assistance here as I have come accross this problem on a number of Sites and its not practical to go through log files for each migration to verify that the stores were released correctly

here is the issue...  Thank you Steve Rachui...  http://blogs.msdn.com/b/steverac/
I was lucky enough to have him onsite today... for some reason the loadstate is not releasing the client store. if you check the migrationstatus.xml you will see false under restore status. not sure why the store doesn't release yet but it could be timing
between the release and reboot command im not sure.
    FYI: - the next morning..
I removed the reboot cycle on my task and when I came in this morning, the xml file showed the datastore was released. (restore status = true) With that said, you will probably need to extend the delay between the release state and the reboot, or remove
the reboot entirely, (which I probably would't personally do.)
    good luck guys
So how did you delete the existing folders for the tasks that had already run? Did you manually change the restore status to TRUE? Or is there no way to delete the old data except removing the SMP role, deleting the folders and then re-enabling the SMP role?
    Thanks,

  • User State Migration using SMP with config manager 2012 R2

    Hi ,
I have SMP at primary site and need to migrate XP and 7 machines using this SMP (using USMT),
what are the steps do i need to define in TS so that usmt can use State migration point for user setting\data backup?
Another challenge i see it with XP since we are deciding to take 2 phase approach, that means we will backup data using 1 TS (3 step TS) and then restore data as part of another TS that will install windows 8.1 also with user state restore.
Any pointers if we need to define anything special in TS (migration store etc.) or since its SMP, TS should able to take care of finding it automatically and backup\restore user state?
We have MDT based TS, just wondering if we need to define anything inside CS.ini file related to SMP?
Any pointers will be appreciated. Thanks

  • MDT 2012 - Failure 9701: Unable to find any version of USMT, unable to perform user state migration. Failed to run the action Restore User State. DNS Record does not exist. (Error: 000025E5; Source: Windows)

I am having trouble trying to capture a new Windows 8 image with WDT 2012.
    My Setup -
    Server 2012
    WDS
    MDT 2012
    Windows 8 ADK
    Hyper-V
I have created a new task and I can get the image to successfully deploy the image to a VM but it seems to fail at the Restore User State task.
Once the install Applications task has finished I added a Suspend task so I could customize the image a little. Upon resuming the task sequence is where the above failure message appears. I can see it gets to the next step (which is 'Restore User State')
but that seems to be where is crashes.
Does anyone have any advice on what I might be doing wrong or what I can do to resolve the above issue?

WAIK being installed was probably your issue so I wouldn't bother disabling the restore task. It is used to migrate user data, docs, and settings on refreshes, not new builds. It doesn't affect CopyProfile, just note that data will be migrated on refreshes so
some aspects may change, ie wallpaper, shortcuts, etc but what gets migrated with USMT can also be configured.

  • SCCM 2012 Recover "User State Recovery Key" after Deletion Policy has removed the key

I have a computer that was upgraded from Windows XP to 7 using SCCM 2012.  The user's info was captured and restored, but found out a month later that some Outlook Archives are corrupt.
I had this happen before on a different user, but found out right away and was able to recover the User State Recovery Key and restore the files.
I have looked under Assets and Compliance, User State Migration, but the computer is not listed anymore.
I have done a file restore of the USMT.MIG file from three weeks ago, but can not extract the users files without the User State Recovery Key.
I have looked through the SQL tables and have only found the StateEncryptDecryptKey in the StateMigration table which will not work.
    Environment:
    Windows 2008 R2 SP1 SCCM 2012 Server
    Windows 2008 R2 SP1 SQL 2012 Server
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Wendell

    It worked! Thank you Jason!
I restored the server's Storage Folder from "State Migration Point" (USMT Folder) from the same date as the SQL database was restored from.  Shut the SCCM server down while doing the SQL restore.  Turned on the Server and was able
to pull out the User State Recovery Key.
Then reverted back by shutting down the SCCM server and restoring SQL database back to previous backup taken before starting.
Only issue I'm getting now is that SMS_EN_ADSERVICE_MONITOR has a warning
8400 Enrollment Point AD Service Control failed to read and configure the registry keys necessary for this component.
With checking everything out to make sure no issues have arised. I looked through the log adctrl.log and found some more errors about Failed to create instance of ADService Managed Component. error = -2147024809
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Not Enough Hard Drive Space on my Mac Mini to Save Deleted User Account Folder: What to do?

I am no longer able to access my original user account on my mac mini because the account is corrupted and won't load. Thanks to the helpful advice I found on the internet, I was able to create a new user account and resume using my mac, but all of my old files are trapped in the old user account.
The plan was to delete the old user account, create a disk image of the old account folders, and then migrate those folders to the new user account. Unfortunately, I don't have enough disc space left on my Mac to do that. I have just under 11gb left after deleting absolutely everything I could, and I need 81gb for the old user files. The back up plan was to select the "don't change the home folder" option, but when I went to delete the account, there was no such option. The message simply read:
"The user's home folder will not be saved. To do so, you need 81.1gb of free disk space. Try emptying the trash or deleting other files on your disk, then deleting the user account. If you do not want to save the user's home folder, click delete immediately."
My only two choices were CANCEL or DELETE IMMEDIATELY. There was no "don't change the home folder" option.
So I am not sure how to proceed. Here are some questions:
    1) is there a way to save the disk image directly to an external drive instead of the user's folder on the mac hard drive?
    2) If I use the "delete immediately" option, will the files go into a "deleted users" folder where they can be recovered or will they just be erased from the computer and unretrievable?
    3) Is there a way to use terminal to change access permission on the original user account files so that I can copy them onto an external drive or integrate them with the new user account without having to first delete the original user account?
    4) In the absence of deleting the user account, will using either:
    sudo chown -R `id -un` /Users/oldusername
    and/or
    sudo chmod -R u+rw /Users/oldusername
in Terminal allow the new user account permission to access the original user files and merge them seamlessly into my new user account? Or must I delete the original account first?
    5) Is there something else I haven't thought of that would work, would be more efficient, or more effective? This wouldn't be the first time I have overthought a solution...
When considering any solutions, please keep in mind that I cannot launch the original user account as that starts the whole endless loading loop. So, while I have the password for the original user account, any solution would appear to require that I work from the new user account only, without launching the old account.  Also I am a complete newbie at this. I've used Macs exclusively for 17 years but this is the first time I've had to do anything like this. Up to now, everything has always "just worked".  So please be as detailed with any instructions as possible!
    Any help greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

I think ComputerFixer is correct, you should be able to drag and drop it to another drive, no worries. However, if not, you could create an disk image of it using DiskUtility and create it on a new drive. But again, I don't think that is necessary. If you have administrator rights with your new account, can you simply go into the old user account folder and drag and drop the files you want to save? I have done that as well as copy the older user account to another drive (in my case, another computer on the network) and salgage my files from there. Is that an option for you?

  • Not able to create, deleted user again in OIM

    Hi,
As part of our porcess we susped the user on the next day of his/her last working day. And after 20 days we are deleting that user from OIM.
Now the deleted user again re-hire into the organization. So we need to re-create the user in OIM.
But we are unable to create the user in OIM 11g. And it is showing error as "user already exist".
Then we found there is an entry for this user in OIM repository as usr_status as deleted. And also we are not able to see this user in the OIM admin console even there is an entry in repository.
Please help us how to solve this issue in creating the identity in OIM.
    Thanks in advance
    Siva

If you want to re-create a deleted user with the same user id then you need to set the re-use id property to true and also drop the unique key contraint from the USR table.

  • Deleted users are not really "deleted" !

    Hello all !
I'm writing an java application to create/read/update/delete users using the GRAPH API. All is going well except one particular use case : If I delete a user, and then later try to create again the same user, I get the following error : "A conflicting
object with one or more of the specified property values is present in the directory"
The detailled use case for one user is :
    - Create user with (userPrincipalName, displayName, accountEnabled, mailNickname, password, forceChangePasswordNextLogin properties) : OK
    - Query this user to read  his properties: OK
    - Delete this user : OK
    - Query this user to read his properties : the user does not exist : OK
    - Create the user with same properties than first step : Not OK ("A conflicting object with one or more of the specified property values is present in the directory")
It should be noted that this error is returned more and more as I repeat these steps.
What is the problem and what can I do ?
    Thanks in advance.

I am able to successfully add and remove the same user using the Azure Portal and via code.
Are you sure the user is actually being deleted?
Have you verified if you are able to see the deleted user in the Azure Portal after you delete it?
I used the code within the Graph API Console Application ( AzureADSamples/ConsoleApp-GraphAPI-DotNet
    - https://github.com/AzureADSamples/ConsoleApp-GraphAPI-DotNet- "create a new user" region and "Delete User" region).  I was able to create the same user and
delete the user multiple times without any errors.
Here is another thing you could verify.  Is you application a member of the "User Account Administrator" role?  You can utilize the MSOL cmdlets ( Manage Azure AD using Windows PowerShell -https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/jj151815.aspx )
to add your application to this role (add-msolrolemember -RoleName "User Account Administrator" -RoleMemberType ServicePrincipal -Rolememberobjectid <object GUID for application> )
If your application is under  the correct "User Account Administrator" role, it should not have any problems doing this task.  I would verify.
If you are still having a problem.  You might need to open a support case via the Azure Portal.  I hope this resolves your issue.

  • New to the Apple and I want to set up a user account that will not delete the guest users files and allow and preserve their personal settings after log out. Is this possible?

New to the Apple and I want to set up a user account that will not delete the guest users files and allow and preserve their personal settings after log out. Is this possible?

The built-in guest user account will not do this. Simply create a new standard account and call it "Guest" or "Guest Users" or whatever you like.
Go to System Preferences > Users& Groups, click "+" to make a new account.

  • Delete user who is collector & customer contact collection notes disappear

    Hello
We are trying to remove users from SAP who are no longer with the company. If the user is a collector, the notes that user has made for the customer contact are no longer visible in UDM_SPECIALIST after the user is deleted. If we re-create the user ID, the notes appear again. Is there some way to reassign the notes to another collector so we can delete the user?

    Hello JK,
I guess you can play around with the standard. You need to create a separate PFCG Role which only contains sales order related authorization object. Basically removing sales order related authorization object from the main primary PFCG role. And then controlling the secondary PFCG Role which only have sales order object. Controlling sales order PFCG role with validity period. Below is the screen shot of the PFCG role where you can maintain the validity period of the PFCG role for the specific user assigned to it.
I hope this solution was helpful for you!
