SMS app

I think that there should be a way for you to put the keyboard away whenever you want. Is there a way to do this? Or is there a way to make suggestions for updates?

". Is there a way to do this? "
Not that I am aware. Check the manual.

  • Search doesn't work properly in iOS SMS app

For many many years I've used search in the SMS app to find the name of someone I want to text. So I'll type "Jon" in the search area expecting it to pull up all of the my conversations with people named "Jon" in descending order by date.
This has ALWAYS worked before. Since I switched to iPhone 6 it's stopped working about 50% of the time. It' INFURIATING.
At first, I thought the problem was that I hadn't texted these people on the new phone and somehow that mattered. But it doesn't.
    I've tried everything.
I'm 99.99% sure this is a glitch in the software.
    Can someone offer an explanation/solution???

There is no such thing as private API's working "properly" or not. You cannot use private APIs because it is highly likely they will change. That is the reason they are private.

  • Bought bulk sms App and it appears downloaded in iTunes. Can't access my Apps in iTunes and won't download to my my iPhone either, please assist!!!

Please assist. I bought group sms App from iTunes store and it downloaded to my Windows Ultimate 7 Pc. Cannot get it downloaded to my iPhone 4 and cannoy access any App in iTunes that I have downloaded before. Supposed to transfer to my phone with sync but no transfer happens notwithstanding numerous syncs. Apps remains unclickable in iTunes and not accessable, please point me in the correct direction??

That is because they only work on iOS devices.
As for the other issue, connect the device, select it in the left hand pane.  In the right pane, select the Apps tab.  Is Sync Apps checked?  Is the specific App(s) checked?  Is Automatically sync new apps checked?
Any errors in iTunes or on the device when syncing?

  • Why is the SMS app so slow to load?

Is it just me or is the SMS app really slow to load?
7 seconds seems a lot to me.
    How is it for u?
How can I improve the loading time?
    Thank you

I don't know why Apple doesn't fix this problem or even acknowledge it. I have had this problem since 1.1.2. Upgrading through 1.1.3, 1.1.4 and on the 2.1 has not helped. My SMS loading time varies between 3 and 10 seconds. I maintain all my SMS messages deleted (which I should not have to do). Due to lack of support from Apple I purchased a Nokia phone for my son. At least basic phone features work like they should.

  • IPhone Messages (SMS) app problem

I've been having a problem with the Messages (SMS) app on my iPhone 3GS. As a matter of personal choice (or rather by nature since I'm slightly prone to OCD), I like to "close (or kill)" all my apps from the multitasking bar and have it stay nice and clean every time I use my iPhone. However, I've been getting lazy over the past few weeks and so I let the messages app stay "open" or on the multitasking bar so it opens quickly. The problem I'm having is that whenever I "close (or kill)" the Messages (SMS) app, (tapping on that little red sign when the apps are wiggling on the multitasking bar), my iPhone freezes for a while (anywhere from 10 seconds to minutes). This time is directly proportional to how long I leave the Messages app "open" for, and how many messages I receive/send. Sometimes, it does a hard reset on me by crashing completely to the Apple logo.
Now I'm not sure why this is, but my uneducated guess is that it has to do with the messages that I send/receive being indexed for search or something. Since the longer the app stays "open," the more messages it has to index, it overwhelms the iPhone and sometimes crashes, and almost always freezes.
But, I'm not an expert by any means. So can anyone explain to me what this is/how to fix it (if there are any solutions at all)?
    Thank you in advance!

Here are 3 things to try, starting with the least intrusive:
    1. In Settings, General, Spotlight Search, uncheck Messages (you might also want to uncheck other stuff you don't need - it all help to speed things up a bit)
    2. Kill all the apps, then restart the phone - hold Home and Sleep until the Apple logo appears - about 10 seconds
    3. Restore the phone via iTunes

  • Set Default SMS App - Already Did!

Ever since updating to kitkat, I keep getting asked to "Set Default SMS App." I have - to Messages. I don't want to use Hangouts or Message  - how do I get it to stop asking me after I receive every text?

If I understand correctly you're saying you're getting prompted about setting the (default HTC) message app as the default app, but your using the Verizon Messages+ app, and want to keep it as default?
Is it occurring only when you launch messages from Extreme Power Saving mode, or from the standard phone mode too?
When you're referring to kitkat are you talking about the 4.4.3 operating system or the 4.4.2 operating system?

  • Default sms app lauch by default

Hi all, in kit kat network setting it has a setting to choose a default sms app, but is there any way for it not to launch by default?
Whne i go sms app and and clear default, it will revert back to sms app after a while. Please advise
    Thanks

    Hi JT0099,
You could try disabling the original App, this way when you clear any defaults the original app will not show up.
    Menu > Settings > Apps > All > Messaging > Disabled.
let me know if this helps.

  • Why is the SMS app trying to connect to the internet?

    Hi all,
I have an iPhone4 on a pre paid sim, and I noticed that my credit/load was being used up even though I had all push notifications etc turned off. I change the APN so that the phone couldn't connect to the internet without me knowing.
So now, each time I open the SMS app I get the message of "Could not activate cellular data network", so for some reason the SMS application is attempting to access the internet each time it is opened, and this is the reason why my credit/load was being used up.
I have NO MMS messages in my inbox so there is no reason that i can see why the app would try to connect to the internet.
Interestingly enough, this used to happen on my old iPhone 3G, however it suddenly just stopped one day.
So my questions is two fold...
    1) Why is SMS connecting to the internet?
    2) How the **** do i stop it?
    Thanks

nick <<<SMS sends/receives data over the cell phone network - it doesn't access the internet. The reason it tries to access the network when you start it is to check for any SMS messages you have and also, I suppose, to establish and validate a connection so that you can send or receive when you need to.>>>
so does the above mean that if someone sends an sms it doesn't come through until you click on the message icon to check for them? i am having problems with delayed sms/mms but find that the backlog all come through sometimes when i have 'woke' the iphone, click on message app or launched an app.
    Any thoughts ?
No - what ought to happen is that the SMS message is pushed straight to your phone. If you're in an area of weak service, the SMS messages might not be able to get through straight away and, when that happens, it can sometimes take a long while after you move to an area of good signal for the messages to arrive. I recently spent some months working in a building where my carrier (O2 in the UK) had very poor to non-existent reception. People would SMS me during the day and, even though I came out of the building frequently, I often didn't get the messages on my phone until late evening.
    Hope that helps

  • TS2755 My SMS app isn't working, help!

My SMS app isn't working, I have the iPhone 5. Every time I go to open the app, it appears that it's going to open, but closes seconds later. I've restarted it a few times, nothing has worked. Help?

Since you've said SMS app, now we known it's Messages app since there's no stock SMS app (it did with the iPhone 3G).
BTW, SMS is a carrier service. Have you contacted them?
If you did try 1 step at a time
    1. Try in Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Apple ID > Sign out and sign back in.
    2. Did you tried Restore from backup using iTunes.
    3. If no joy, restore as new

  • IPhone app that will lock SMS app?

I'm looking for an app that will lock the SMS app down with a password? I know you can lock the whole phone down but a friend is looking to secure the SMS app as a friend of his had his phone abused by another.
I searched the app store and couldn't find anything. Any ideas?

I don't think Apple will allow 3rd party developers to create a new SMS app to replace their native SMS client because it duplicates functionality of their SMS app.

  • IMessage records hidden - force quitting SMS app to solve

    Hello,
I'm having the following problem, and i can't understand why it happens or when...
The iMessage functionality is working fine on my iphone4 (iOS5), however, and random times, some records in the conversation just suddenly "disappear"!
They are just not displayed on my screen!
If i force-quit the SMS.app and then re-open it, they appear again.
From one side it's good that they are not erased from the DB, so it seems the "select" query is not returning all records...
However this is annoying because sometimes i miss a message!
This only happens whenever a current conversation is in progress, when the "Delivered" and the "Read" statuses seem to interfere with the conversation...
    Anyone has a clue?
Is it an existing bug that Apple is aware of??
    I would appreciate any feedback.
    Thank you in advance.
    Alain

Well, she's the one shooting herself in the foot by doing this. The only other thing you can do is set up a separate contact for here that does not contain her email address and use that to message her, or remove her email address from the contact record you already have.

  • Messaging not default SMS app

Every few days I get a notification:
"Messaging not default sms app. Tap to make Messaging your default SMS.."
(that's what it says; it actually stops mid sentence). I click on it and there's a dialog box:
    "Change SMS app?
Use messaging instead of Hangouts as your SMS app?
    No Yes"
Now obviously I don't want to do this (why would anyone), but I click on No and the box goes away but it'll come back again later. I can't uninstall messaging, and when I load it to see if it has options to never do anything again ever the first thing it does is pop up the "Change sms app" box again, and when I press No it quits.
Hangouts is indeed my default SMS app; it's enabled (you can see it in the settings), it works (i receive SMS and hangout messages through it).
Do I have to start disabling apps, or is there a way of getting this to stop? I'm on 5.0.2 on a 6603 (uk unbranded) and this problem is new to lollipop.

Could you test if the same thing happens in safe mode? It could perhaps be another app that's triggering our messaging app which will then give this question.
But as you say, one solution is to disable "Messaging" under Settings -> Apps -> All.
