Sms by the nokia

Hi
I would like to send sms via nokia 5510 or 3310 using labview ( v6.1 if it
is possible ), and I would be greatfull for a link to some examples. It can
be another model of nokia ( 3410, 6310i, 6100 or 7650)
Thanks

Hello, This posts reminded me of some project I did in the past for our microscope where I send out notifications to users after it has finished scanning on my custom made LabVIEW program. First, you have to select a phone which has "data cable" (a COMx port connectivity)earliest is a 5110 followed by 6110, 6150) the rest uses an IrDA and a modem driver. Each of these phones has AT-Commands set (you can download from ETSI) depending again on the series. Ordinarily you have to send out a "AT+ Command" using VISA or earlier Serial Port VIs or Library and arrange the bytes so that they follow the exact AT commands. This is a tip you could begin with.

  • E72 talk with the nokia customer care

i tried to talk to them with all the problems we E72 users are facing, but seems somehow that they either keep avoiding the question, or don't answer the question, but give answers that slightly have something to do with the question. either way their replies don't help whatsoever.
I tried to ask them to send a software engineer to look at our problems, I asked twice and they didn't answer both times.

Hi, I read that there is a new release for the E72, v51.018. From current posts in Nokia's discussion page, many of the problems that existed in v22.007 and v31.023 were not resolved in v51.018.
Furthermore, i read that program versions such as for Adobe Reader, the program did not update as v51.018 suggested.
Is it possible to release the full firmware fixes? Many people are confused as to what the 450 fixes were, since a lot of current problems have yet to be resolved.
    "Altogether 450+ errors are fixed"
Would you also be able to request an engineer to the Nokia Discussion forum in order to clear up any misunderstandings that current E72 owners have? that would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Thank you for emailing the Nokia Care Contact Center.
We apologize for the confusion that we may have caused you. In response to your inquiry about the availability of the latest software update for your Nokia E72, please be informed that update availability is based on many things, including existing Nokia device software version, country, and operator. It may be due to one of these variables that your Nokia device is not eligible for updates.
Please note that your mobile service provider, operator, or carrier may not have approved the latest Nokia device software available.
Nokia produces many different variants of each product (for different countries and languages) and not all variants have the latest Nokia device software. It is our priority to update all variants as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any delay.
New software may become available at a later date and to get a notification when new software is available for your device, register with My Nokia and subscribe to email or SMS notifications.
New Nokia device software is released on a regular basis, but please note that not all countries and operators support the latest version.
Kindly refer to the link below to manually check for the latest available software update for your handset:

    We greatly appreciate your patience.

So, each E72 that has a v51.018 update are all completely different updates depending on the various E72 (singapore, North America, etc)? FOr the E72 that already have the v51.018 update available, many people have said that they are still experiencing problems that have been present since earlier firmwares.
Is there a location where we can see what changes are made on the varient E72 updates? Currently I have an E72-2 (North America) and I saw that the update is not out yet for the North American version.

In response to your inquiry, we are sorry to inform you that the specifications of the latest firmware is not available to our website. However you can check the latest firmware of your device on our website. I will be providing you the link for you to visit for more updates regarding our software updates:

On that website you provided, I did not see any message updates regarding software updates, merely whether my E72 model is eligible for a firmware update. Can you provide me the link with Nokia message updates regarding current firmwares? Also, there hasn't been much support on the nokia discussion forum about the current problems that the new firmware is experiencing. What is the update on that?
Is there any way of downgrading? many people have said that the out-of-the-box firmware version was the most stable and that the v31.022 and v51.018 were very unstable compared to the original.
    Thanks.

I just went to the web link you provided, and it said that my warranty is still valid, however it has given me 10 days to mail in my device, otherwise i need to provide proof of purchase. Did i accidentally activate something? I merely input my serial number to see what my options are.
At this time, my phone has no problems, as i have not upgraded the firmware, BUT i am stresing that other owners of E72 are experiencing firmware issues, and I am asking if there is any way for a software engineer to investigate these issues so that future firmwares will have many issues solved that customers have found?
    Nokia Reply [11/09/2010]
Thank you for emailing the Nokia Care Contact Center.
We apologize for any inconvenience that we may have caused you. In response to your queries, we would like to inform you that you did not activate anything when you verify the warranty of your Nokia E72. No need to worry about the online warranty verification.
In regard to the firmware update, updating the software of the handset will fix minor and major software issues that is causing and can cause issues. It is not our intention to provide more problem with the update that we are releasing. The main goal of the updates is to improve the device’s general performance.
basically the conversation went in a full circle.. its obvious the firmware is to IMPROVE the performance of the E72, but it would be very helpful if a software engineer can SEE the problems that we are facing. Basically we are the guinea pigs who are testing the software stability, and they are the ones programming.. If they are not going to look at the problems we have exploited, there will be no solutions for this phone.

  • Daylight saving in the NOkia 6233 ?

Does the Nokia 6233 support Daylight Saving ? If yes, how can I set it in my phone ?

It doesn't do it automatically, like a PC...it isn't that clever. You need to change it yourself. Be sure to set the time zone rather than change the clock, otherwise the phone may display incorrect times for SMS messages etc.

  • SMS sent from Nokia Suite is not saved

PC Nokia Suite (7.1.18.0) seems to be working fine on both Bluetooth and USB Cable with my Nokia 6300 (FW is V07.21).
EXCEPT, whenever I send SMSs from the Nokia Communications Centre, they are not saved anywhere.  I assume that they should save in NCC and immediately be replicated back to my phone, but that is not happening.  So I have no record of anything I have sent, unless I key it in onto my phone.
All off the other categories of SMS (Inbox, Outbox, Drafts, Archive) seem to replicate OK between phone and NCC.  Why not the Sent messages?
And yes, I am sure that the messages are being sent - that was the first thing I checked
What am I (or the SW) doing wrong?
    Thanks

unfortunately I'm also suffering from lack of this feature. however I'm not sure which other mobile phone can do something like requested by author (and me ).
Suppose it has something to do with the way desktop software works with GSM phones, it probably just sends series of AT commands to GSM phone modem, initiating sending of message. Saving of message into "Sent" box may be not implemented into standard AT command set (but here I'm only guessing).
I've happened to work with old Siemens phone and it behaved almost same way, i.e. messages were sent but not saved in "Sent" box. However there was a trick - desktop software had not only "Send" but also "Save" button, and pressing of this button saved messages in "Drafts" box. So if I needed absolutely message to be saved in "Sent" box, I prepared messages and saved them to "Drafts". Later I should take my phone and send messages manually from phone, so at least I saved efforts on typing, but had to work from both PC and phone interfaces to send message.
I'm not sure if any "alternative" software for Nokia phones (like Oxygen Phone Manager) have this capability, but if you look at this screen http://www.oxygensoftware.com/en/products/opm2/images/SMSPictureMessage.gif you shall see there "Save" button which may possibly (?) implement same functionality.

  • Cannot pop up sms editor on Nokia N97

The Nokia N97 is a Symbian S60 v5 phone like the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic.
We use the following simple script on the 5800 to pop up the SMS editor, but it does not work on the N97. Nothing pops up - strange.
    on(Release)
        getURL('sms:?body=abc');
Is this a bug on the Flash Lite implementation on the N97? The phone we used was new.
    Thanks in anticipation.
    jz

    Hi Alessandro,
    Our current solution is that:
For mobile phones like 5800, n97,n97 mini ...etc. we now use nokia library to popup sms editor. This is not ideal as we have to populate the "To: field" otherwise it does not work. For all others, we use getURL to popup the sms editor and it's a great solution. The n97 was the problem phone as getURL worked for the 5800.
Our engineers response was as follows:
"I think what he means is whether I put the getURL code inside on(press) instead of on(release).
At this time, I check that I use keylistener's keydown/keyup event in our semobile application and use on(release) in testing program.
I can't remember whether we tested some codes using on(release) before. But it's quite unbelievable that only on(press) works instead of others although we can try it."

  • Does the Nokia X6 have number screening?

I've been using my Nokia X6-00 16GB for over a year now.
Recently, I happened to browse the Nokia X6 product specs page on the Nokia website.
One of the said features is Number Screening (which is present in my Nokia X1-01). However, I can't find any Number Screening features on the X6!
How can this be? All I wanted is to eliminate unwanted sms and calls. I've been using the same phone number for several years. My operator cannot even help me. Personnel in Nokia Stores can't even help me with my problem.
Or can I file a lawsuit against Nokia for false advertisement? I'm calling Nokia's attention regarding this matter!

We're unsure because we're not privy to the data. However I remember encountering some Indian product codes that apparently had the feature inbuilt, but I couldnt be sure if its a country or regional or operator feature. For instance, the normal X6 could have none preinstalled, but several operators asked Nokia that their branded codes have it.
If you would like to have an Official Nokia response, you would have to use the "Contact Us" button near the top of this page.

  • Does the Nokia software updater version 1.4.64 sup...

Does the Nokia software updater version 1.4.64 support N85?
When I tried to update and the massage always appear "Unable to retrieve phone information" Does anyone having the same problem?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Got the same problem: Unable to retrieve phone information.
I reinstalled Nsu -> did not help. Same error.
I am using the general Profile and restarted the phone several times (plus removing battery) etc etc.
    My product code is 0572856.
My custom version is 10.045.203.2 (29.09.08)
According to my phone provider there is a newer software available. I got the problem that the caller-id is not always shown when the contact is saved in the phone: When i save my second number in my n85 contacts with the international dial code, i can see the contacts name when receiving SMS only, but not if i get called from that number. When i remove the international dial code i can see the contact's name when i get called but not when i receive a SMS. I have only one contact saved in my phone (no duplicates!). Tried to move it to sim memory, to either use one memory or both memories. Nothing helps. Whether the number is from the same phone provider or not does not make any difference. I cant save both formats in one contact either.
According to my phone provider this is a known bug and can be removed by downloading the latest firmware for N85.
But i cant download anything, dont even know if there is really a newer software to download for my above mentioned version.
i tried to download nsu-versions in other languages, but that did not help too.
    any help/suggestions?

  • N80 on the Nokia Software Updater

    Dear updaters,
We are pleased to announce the inclusion of Nokia N80 to the list of products supported by the Nokia Software Updater.
There are two things to note:
    1. Not all variants may have the latest software. New variants are constantly being updated, so if your variant is not included, please check back again soon.
    2. If you have installed the SMS accelerator patch for your Nokia N80, this will need to be re-installed after the N80 software update. The SMS accelerator patch is available from http://www.europe.nokia.com/A4149142

  • Install the Nokia Store without a bunch of compute...

Can I install the Ovi Store program without connecting the phone to the only-Windows programs Nokia Suite and that strange Nokia Drop program? If I went to the website to download the Ovi Store, it requires that I hook my phone to the Nokia Suite to download it. If I wanted to download it on the phone via wifi using the Download to Mobile, it requires Nokia Drop, which again is a computer to phone connection. I even tried the SMS thing, to no avail.
Unless I'm missing something, it seems to me like a really bad designed system. Why I am forced to connect it to their Windows program just to install an application that is used to install other programs? I'm really disappointed with these handcuffs Nokia seems to use. If I were to say I don't have a Windows OS, am I left with no way of downloading Ovi Store?

  • No SMS Support for Nokia N70 in 10.4.9

I've just updated to Mac OS 10.4.9, hoping there would new support added for the Nokia N70 and Bluetooth SMS via Address Book.
Has anyone had any success without the use of third party software?
My guess is to wait for Leopard.
In the meanwhile, I'll put in a request into Apple and sit and wait.

I have been using a Nokia N70 with my Mac mini for over a year now. I first got bluetooth working with address book from a hack (old nokia phone) I found in these forums. Phone answering / logging and SMS receive and sending all worked from address book.
I now have reduced functionality. Address book can still connect to me phone. Phone answering / logging still works however, SMS sending seems to be intermitant and SMS recieving does not show on the screen at all.
I have seen that in the recent updates Nokia N70 has been added to the list of compatible phones.
Has anyone had similar experiences? Have you found a solution?

  • Transfer SMS from old Nokia to iPhone through SIM

    Hi all,
I need to transfer some important SMSs (text messages) from my old Nokia N73 phone to my new iPhone 3G v2.1. I have been able to copy them onto my SIM card (I am on O2 in the UK) but cannot get these off the SIM and onto the iPhone (although I know there is an option for this for phonebook contacts)?
Is there any way to do this please?
FYI I do not have a Mac, but a PC running Windows XP.

Sorry to add this to an existing question - but might be another way round if an answer can be found!
I have moved some old SMS to PC Nokia suit and I want to move them to my new 3G iphone - anyone any ideas how this can be done?

  • Who can solve iSync problem with Nokia N95? (I use the Nokia plug already)

    Hello
Since I bought my new cool Mac:, I sync my N95 with iSync and the Nokia N95 plug-in. Thinking at first that is works flawlessly (as other members here seem to think as well) I later found out, that if I make changes to any calendar or "to do" description! on either the N95 or the Mac it syncs, but only up until a certain number of characters. If I exceed this number, the description on the phone will simply be cut off - in the iCal it still fully appears though.
Rather surprising, since when syncing with a PC via the Nokia PC suite there is no such an issue. All my often lengthy descriptions are fully put on the phone. And if I sync back there are no problems either. So I guess it has to do with the iSync protocol or this Nokia N95 iSync plug-in? Any ideas, solutions...? Any help greatly appreciated!

The flex cable is damaged. Some years back when I had a Nokia N95 8GB the flex cable was damaged and for a few days the screen was showing strange colours at the display and eventually the screen became black. I went to a local repair shop and I replaced the flex cable and what I noticed was that the flex cable that it had no proximity sensor on it so I told the technician to remove the proximity sensor on the original one and replace it with the new flex cable. Another thing I discovered was that after fitting the flex cable and returning the cover the front camera was not in its usual position so the technician had to do some modifications to get it back to its normal position and after a few months it was damaged and this time I went to Nokia Care Centre and replaced the flex cable for a small fee and what I noticed was that the flex cable that I previously bought was a fake cable. The one bought from Nokia Care Centre had its proximity sensor and when the cover was returned the camera was in its exact position the same as it was with the original flex cable. What I wanted to say is that please beware of fake flex cables on the market and I suggest that you buy it from an authorised Nokia Dealer.

  • The Nokia vs Customer Service Challenge

Nokia, let's see what your made of?
I bought a nokia N97 around 3 months ago. At this stage the Blackberry was the phone to have (still is) but being the nokia fan that I always "was" decided to go with the N97. Now please understand that this phone was an out-right purchase, not "free" on some contract, so it set me back a few bucks.
I have since talked friends out of taking Blackberry's, iPhones and other brands, convincing them that the N97 was the best phone ever made!
Since the beginning of month 2 I have had nothing but trouble with this NASTY piece of hardware that Nokia has sold to me at the price of 2-3 months rent of a house or a cruise for a week to some island.
The phones final destination and what happened today, which is what got me to challenge NOKIA on this forum is this. My phones battery died, I plugged it in using the original charger, with absolutely no response from the phone. I then thought it was a batter problem, bought a new battery, put it in and the phone came on. Then wanted to charge the battery as required, no response.
I then tried the USB data cable, no response from the phone or the PC. I called nokia up and was told to do a hard reset as it was a software problem (hahahahahahaha) what ever! I gave them the benefit of the doubt as they are Nokia and they should know what they are talking about right? LOL. I reset my phone, lost all my data, 3 months of images, email, contacts etc (I admit, I should have done a backup). My mass storage is non-existent anymore, it does not even open the folder or the drive, it tells me it is in use.
Even if my data was still on the phone, how would I get it off? The USB does not work. And how do I charge the phone?
I am very disappointed in my choice for taking the Nokia apposed to the iPhone as was my other choice, but even a Blackberry would have proved a better choice.
I would like to challenge Nokia right here to contact me and come up with a solution, to fix the phone for me (and provide another while doing so) or giving me a replacement. I will update the thread on a daily basis with all (if any) feed back I get from Nokia.
Come on Nokia, show us what your made of!
    Kind Regards,

Right now having had two posts removed as they are 'disrespectful to Nokia' or involved pm from Nokia, I try again (hopefully this is anodyne enough to get through):
Used to be nokia Fanboy not so any more (too old and see below):
Nokia N95 owned for 6 months. Returned after 6 months faulty - took refund.
Nokia N97 2 replacements - first two units failed almost out of the box.Third after 8 months with software problems. I felt s/ware to be flaky from the start I am afraid.
Nokia N900: pretty happy with this but bit discontent with Nokia obsolescing (expensive) mobile so fast. But now N900 returned to Nokia under warranty (unable to recognise sim card), returned to me one week later with same fault but now with Sim bracket totally detached.
First line support suggest that I wait a week while they investigate. Called back to make complaint and Nokia agree to UPS pick up next day.
Cal Nokia one week later and told phone is with UPS to be delivered and I should expect on that day. Call later to confirm but asking to be put through to second level support who then inform me that phone is not in delivery but is waiting for quality and assurance testing.
Nokia tell me that I should track through case reference:  enter reference supplied to their website and response is that there is no information about this repair.
I am now told Nokia will call me next Tuesday.
Compare and contrast friend has problems with HTC Desire (slow to boot/turning itself off occasionally). Replaced within week of first phone call.
Have spent 2-3 hours on the phone over this.
This post is to give my experience which may be different to others. I may have been unlucky but it is my experience so I would be grateful if it could remain. Others with a positive experience feel free to disagree and chip in.
