Sms disappeared

I was trying to send a photo via text message when my phone "blinked" and ALL of my sms disappeared. I may have made a mistake when I subsequently connected to iTunes and allowed a sync. Now, I have no sms on my iPhone and NO backups in my iTunes anthough I did an backup about 4 days ago and have done others previously.
Can someone explain - in simple terms please because I'm not an advanced user- how can I find my sms data file and my previous iTunes backups AND how I can restore one of those backups if I find them.
I have TimeMachine backups but don't know whether it is possible to just restore iTunes alone.

iTunes only keeps one normal iPhone backup. It's actually an incremental backup in that only data that has changed is actually backed up. Your iPhone backups will be listed here: iTunes>Preferences>Devices. Any backup listed with a time/date stamp is a backup created from a restore point. These backups are not overwritten. Your iPhone backup is stored here:
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
You can use Time Machine to restore your iPhone backup from a date prior to when you performed your last sync, then use that backup to restore your phone, hopefully restoring your lost SMS's.

SMS disappeared from Inbox

I have just formatted the Nokia N95 8GB phone due to the error showing as "Startup Failure". There was SMS in inbox earlier. However, when i started installing software - Mini Opera/Fring/MFE/Yamee etc- i have realized that all the SMS are disappeared from Inbox - Inbox is completely empty. Can anybody suggest on how this has occured and how can i restore those missing SMS?

This seems to be a common issue with the S60 mobile operating system. No comment from Nokia regarding a resolution so far.
My E75 phone has also experienced the disappearing-messages-act saved in my SD card when my phone restarted from a low battery shut down. Inbox/Draft/Sent Items were completely wiped out.
I tried to change the SMS location from SD Card to Phone Memory then back to SD Card again.
I also tried to (safely & properly) remove the SD Card then reinserted it back. Still no go.
The worst part is that I spent 3 days searching the Internet and found that it's not rare for this problem to occur on an S60 platform yet no resolution from the web nor does Nokia offer any solution to it's customers.
They're about to lose a 12 year loyal and solid Nokia Fan (along with his friends and relatives to migrate to the Blackberry & iPhone Bandwagon) soon if they can't help us retrieve the important messages that was wiped out from our inbox. <sigh>..

BUG: Old SMS disappeared

Hi all,
My old SMS are disappeared from my phone. I believe it is a bug because I've never see any confirmation of delete message.
I just bought a new 6120.
I copied my old SMS from old phone to a SIM card.
Then, i copied them again from the SIM card to my new 6120, and put all of them into a "New Folder".
** And then problem started ***
I believed all the message are "COPIED" to mobile phone memory.
So, I deleted them from "SIM card" (and delete from SIM card only)
After that, I still can read the message ONCE(and once only) from the folder.
But when I press "Back"(to the folder), the message I read disappear from the list.
I am sure that there were no any "deletion" / "confirmation of delete", and the button is "Back".
And now, I feel really upset and hopeless.
Some of the missing messages are really important to me.
PLEASE PLEASE ANYONE CAN TEACH ME HOW CAN I RECOVERY THESE MISSING SMS? I have no another backup of them.
Can I undelete them from SIM card?
Were they deleted by incorrect operation?
Are they still there but just I cannot read them??
I am using 6120 classic, user interface in chinese.

Lumia 520 SMS disappeared!!!!

i bought nokia lumia 520 for about 1 month. the text messages disappear automatically！！！
right now, the only text message is the acknowledgement message from the mobile operator saying i've delivered the message. that's the only message that can exist in my phone for more than one day. other text messages i sent yesterday, the day before yesterday or even earlier all disappeared!!! i didn't delete them but they just disappeared into nowhere!!!
i already asked my carrier. the representative also uses the same carrier but with an android phone. he said his messages stayed as long as he wanted.
i checked all discussion board both in nokia and microsoft. so far nothing really talks about my situation....

Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

NokiaN80: 450 sms disappeared from memorycard!? :x

Hi there, I have a NokiaN80. I hope someone can help or explain whats happend. As of an hour ago i have been using my memory card to store sms messages and now for some reason the phone seems to have wiped EVERY sms message off the phone! but everything else :games/mp3's/videos etc are still on there, its just the sms's that have been wiped. This also happend to me a few months ago when i reached the 450-ish txts in my in box. The phone and memory card still work with sms but now im back to zero txts in my inbox :x Any ideas why it did this or if i can even get them back? Is there a limit even with a memory card? i have just over a gig space left on it.

Double check your mail settings...Perhaps you have accidently switch storage location from memory card to phone memory when you connect the device to pc as a mass storage device which require data transfer for messaging to memory card be ended to phone memory.
Menu > Messaging > Options > Settings > Other > Memory in use.

N-73- Memory card SMS disappeared.

Hi All,
While opening an sms, my phone hang.
I restarted the phone , and it took a long while to restart - longer than usual.
After it restarted, I realised all my sms are gone, all 2500 of them.
I normally store them in my memory card.
How can i possibly retrieve my sms? pls help, I need some data from them.

Are you sure the message storage is set to memory card itself? Sometimes, after a hang-up, the message storage location defaults to phone memory.
If that's correctly set, then make sure your memory card is working fine. If there's a corruption, then you might not be able to get back the messages stored there.
As a general tip, it's better to use the phone memory to store texts rather than using the memory card. The latter makes the phone slower and it takes too long to open and send texts. Switch to memory card only when you receive some heavy file thru bluetooth or IR.

How to restore SMS after iPhone 4 was upgraded to iOS 5; all the SMS are gone

I upgraded my iphone 4 (not 4S) to iOS 5 yesterday and all the SMS disappeared. The last back-up I have is from May 2011. Is all the previous data overwriten with the new data? Is there any way I can restore my SMS back? ANY WAY? I really wany my SMS back.

I have the same issue after the update.
I have a Belkin N1 Vision router which is set to use B,G & N but the iphone 4 refuses to connect to the network.
I dont have phone support. So looks like i might be heading to the Apple store tomorrow to the Genius Bar.

SMS Problems since 1.1.4 update

Has anyone else notice ever since the new 1.1.4 update that when sending text no matter how short or long they are that it seems to take longer you get the sending screen for a good 2 to 5 seconds instead of an instant message sent like it is think about sending the message lol then send it that is the only thing i have noticed with the update other then if you have the iphone ear piece they have changed it to you don't hear everything through it when connected any more like i have a musical ring tones before you could hear that through the ear piece as it was ringing not you just hear beeps and if your ear piece was connected and you was texting or anything to do with the phone the sound would come through your ear piece was really cool if you played your ipod you could hear it through your ear piece now it is all gone

My iPhone takes the same length of time to send an SMS under 1.14 as it did with version 1.1.2 and 1.1.3. The time it takes to send depends on the network. If the network is busy (like at New Year or Christmas for example) SMS can take ages to leave your phone, if however the network is under less pressure from users, SMS disappear fairly sharpish.

Blackberry 10 blackhole in SMS: slow to appear and disappearing messages sent via sms

hi. i and my friends are z10 and q10 users. two of us are really heavy phone users because of our work. most of the time, we have to communicate with several people fast at the same time. we've noticed the following problems - 1) we've noticed that when we get to a point when several messages are coming in from the different messaging apps and it coincides to when we just sent a sms, said message literally disappears - it doesn't get received by the recipient, and neither does it appear in the conversation thread. when that starts to happen, whatever i type and send just goes nowhere. however, for some reason, when i highlight the message that i will send, it will go through and, i guess, "closes the blackhole" and messages get sent and are recorded again in the conversation thread. perhaps blackberry can fix things such that we won't have to lose messages to "blackholes" again 2) i've been using my q10 since 2nd week of june. i've noticed that over time, the messages i type in sms section seem to take longer and longer to appear in the screen. and when it appears is the only time when it starts to send the message, which happens faster. so if i close my phone (or even just the "chat" or conversation thread with my contact to open another conversation thread with another contact) before the text i typed appeared on the screen, it doesn't get sent until i open my phone or the said conversation thread again. this is very inconvenient especially when i'm in a hurry. now, the longest it's taken for the text to appear on the screen is around 10 seconds. i've tried to find ways to speed-up the appearance of the text but have been unsuccessful so far. i know it's not a network problem since such lag also happened when i was in other countries and used local prepaid accounts in the same phone. I hope blackberry can find tech people who can help fix these things. we really love blackberry and it would be such a shame to lose it.

Same issue here on my Q5. Same problem occured with the 10.1 os that come with my one month old Q5 and now that I have upgraded to 10.1, the same problem is still there. It takes time to appear and to disappear. 15-20 seconds. Just with SMS/MMS.
Also, the Calendar is a mess. It does not stop making mistakes such as appearing in wrong dates....
I had none of these issues with my old Curve 9300.

Retrieve disappeared SMS

Hi there, is there anyone out there knows how to retrieve SMS removed by SE PC Suite?
Few fews ago when i try to backup all my SMS onto my computer via SE PC Suite, it all just mysteriously disappeared.
This is how it happen; I have placed all my (Sent and Received SMS) in a separte folder on my phone. When i connect my phone to the
PC Suite, for some reason PC Suite cannot locate my folder. So i moved all my SMSs into the Inbox as that is the only option i've got from
the menu. The next thing i notice is that all my Sent SMS had disappeared instantly. And right after that a message pops up stating that
some of my SMS has not being send. I thought at least it would be move to the Draft folder but it didn't it all just disappeared.
Can anyone help?

My SMS & MMS Icon has disappeared !!!

Hi again,
One minute it's there the next it's gone!!! Icons are mysteriously disappearing from my home page. My worldmate icon keeps going back to Downloads, the calculator keeps going back to applications etc.
All have been found except SMS MMS ????? Please help!!! Where can i locate them and replace them to their original spot ?

I"m having the same problem with my call log. I know that I've missed two calls but I can't tell where to figure out who they were because I can't find the call log icon. It used to be there but now its gone. Can you point me in the right direction?

Sometimes Text Edit Area Disappears for SMS Texting

Hi Team,
Sometimes text window to send some text as SMS suddenly disappears.
1) First type the number to which we want to send the text , this contact is not in contact list
2) Just try to slide the keyborad or sometimes even without sliding keyboards the text area
box is not visible anymore and very annoying as even we can not send SMS and Send button
gets disabled.
As Text Area dissapperas we can not add text to send and not able to send the SMS very frustrating.

SMS mailboxes have disappeared

After upgrading the software to 3.1 the inbox, outbox and sent mailboxes have disappeared from SMS. Now when I open SMS all I see is one long list of SMS's containing everying I have sent and received. Any ideas on how to get the mailboxes back?

The iPhone's Messages application has never had an Inbox, Sent, or Outbox. The iPhone's Messages application saves all messages in conversation format by each contact messages are exchange with similar to what an instant messaging application does.

Received sms messages disappeared-sms inbox empty

Hi, i have a blackberry curve 8520 and suddenly all my received sms messages disappeared. so now when i go to the sms folder i see only the sent sms. i went to view folders-sms inbox and it is empty.
i have tried restore backup, battery pull, i have 100 mb free memory and 1gb on my memory
any suggestions?

So is your "Messages" or "SMS" icon missing? Try to reset the device by removing the battery for 30 seconds. Also try to reset the theme by going into Options | Theme, hitting the menu button, and choosing Reset Theme Defaults.
