After installing OS4, the SMS box does not open for hours. I end up trying 80-100 times before it opens. I have tried restoring the phone and re-installing. Also notified apple help desk. I bought this phone in India for USD800. The so called upgrade has rendered my phone useless. Never again will ever buy an Iphone. Feel like smashing this trash on jobs' head......

It's funny how multitasking doesn't work on the 3G iPhone with iOS 4, but it works PERFECTLY on a jailbroken iPhone running OS 3 (and with previews!) Pathetic.

Check Settings > General > Restrictions, and check out Contacts toward the bottom under the privacy restrictions.
That sounds like the probable cause you cannot add contacts.
Regarding the iCloud behavior, that sounds like it got huge (35,000) because of incorporating other contacts (from social media, perhaps). Also contacts sync has nothing to do with iCloud behavior. The whole idea of keeping your contacts in the cloud is that once you change them on one device, they change everywhere. Specific syncs are not relevant.

Hi I have an E71 and have a probelm opening SMS and Email. I can see the person it's from and either first line of the sms or subject for email, I cannot open the sms or email to read any further. i have already change my memory card but my sms does not open. I've tried to contact the operator technical help people, but they were no help...just told me to do a software reset and then take the battery and sim card out. Were you using Perian before? I'm not sure about this, but I don't think it does anything in Mavericks as the plug-in API changed. I have no idea how to check if Perian is actually doing anything anymore. The developers have ceased supporting it.

Firefox will not open in Vista SP2 after installing software for a Brother MFC printer.

I have 7 computer network. All the machines are running Vista SP2. I recently purchased a Brother MFC 9325cw, and installed the printer/scanner drivers as well as a program called scansoft paperport on each of the machines individually.
I left out the some of the bulkier aspects of the driver package, namely the brother control center because it seems to eat up a lot ram at start up.
Since I have installed the printer driver on my computers, several of them will not open firefox.
I have tried re-installing firefox on one machine so far to no avail.
Next I will try to re-install the brother software. Has anyone else encountered this problem before?

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

SharePoint public facing site does not open in sharepoint designer after giving http redirect in IIS

I have a public facing sharepoint site
We gave http redirect in IIS due to which I am unable to open the site in SharePoint Designer and gives error message site not found in webserver.
If i revert back the settings (remove the http redirect link) i m able to open the site in designer.Please let me know how can I resolve the issue in opening site in SharePoint designer after http redirect setting done in IIS

Looks like an AAM issue. What URL of the site you are trying to open with designer and what are your AAM settings?

Domain file does not open my iWeb websites after upgrading to Mavericks

I just upgraded to mavericks so i could use Media Composer to edit my new movie.
I backed up my computer and saved my domain file (which is over 1 gig large, as it has several websites I manage)
I went back to my original CD of iLife and re-installed iWeb
I then copied my backup of my domain file onto the library>application support>iWeb folder
iWeb program opens
but my website and their pages/files do not show on the left hand menu.
I have read on here that i need iWeb 09 (version 3.0) instead of iWeb 08 (version 2.0) but I cannot find such version in the apple website
When I check for upgrades it looks like my iWeb 2.0 (from my iLife 08) is the latest version.
Can someone help?
In the icon of the domain file which I backed up I see an image of the last page I updated before my back up.
I am assuming all the info is there but for some reason Mavericks is not allowing iWeb to see them?

To open your domain file in Lion, Mountain Lion or Mavericks or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.

If I understand the problem correctly (I’m not sure I do) you would prefer ‘iii’ to be read as “eye eye eye” rather than “three”? The alt text property is the only way that I know of to make this happen. Hope this helps.

About Finder does not show 10.4.8 after installing

After running the 10.4.8 installer, I pulled down to the "About Finder" selection and it still says it is at 10.4.6
Ran repair permissions before & after.
I believe I am at 10.4.8 but do not know how to verify.

Did you check your boot volume for any directory errors with Disk First Aid repair via Disk Utility when booted from your Tiger install disc before installing the update?
Did you download the 10.4.8 Intel Combo Update or use Software Update?
I suggest running DFA repair on your boot volume. If any problems are reported and successfully repaired, run repair again until no problems are reported.
Then re-install the 10.4.8 Intel Combo Update and be sure to disconnect all external peripheral devices except for a keyboard and mouse during the installation.

Officejet 7310xi does not print two-sided automatically after installing Windows 8.1

When I first purchased my Officejet 7310xi and installed it on my Windows XP desktop PC it worked fine printing two-sided documents automatically. I recently purchased a new desktop PC with Windows 8 and upgraded it to Windows 8.1 and downloaded and installed the Officejet software drivers from the HP download site. But now the printer will not print two-sided documents AUTOMATICALLY -- when this option is selected, I get a pop-up screen telling me to remove the documents from the out tray, turn them around, and reinsert them in the feed bin, i.e., it acts as if I requested two-sided MANUAL printing.

Hi,
Make sure the Automatic Duplexing option is enabled:
Enter Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
Right click the printer icon, then click Printer Properties.
Click the Device Settings tab.
Set the Automatic Two-Sided Duplex Accessory as installed and click OK to save the change.
Now Automatic Duplexing should become available.
