SMS Fail, Call Fail, or phone?

Hi,
I've been experiencing some sms and call failure in the last few months. My iPhone 3Gs (with updated software) is still new - not even a year old and I have great reception. However, I get times where i can't call anyone - e.g. i press enter a phone number or a number from my contacts list and phone ringing sound doesn't sound or will sound after a few mins, and I get a failure to send sms's as well...
I've fixed it a few times with just turning the phone on and off. but it drains alot of power when i do that.
I was just wondering if anyone else have the same experience and there is a solution... I just hope there isn't anything wrong with my phone...

I bought an iPhone 4 from ebay. The seller said he was not quite sure about whether the phone was locked or not, but vodafone's micro-sim card is OK. I bought a vodafone pay as you go micro-sim card and insert it, but neither making or receiving a phone call nor sending or receiving a message is available. I was confused. I am recovering the filmware and I am not sure whether it will work or not. Please help me.

I do get zones working on a full "end user" install -- but then I also get sh*tloads of stuff I really don't want on a server (GNOME, CDE, StarOffice, Evolution, Mozilla, X11, OpenWin, ...). Removing the spurious fluff won't work; some packages removal scripts seem to be broken, and dependency checking is, well, living hell on Solaris 10.
I would like a simple thing, which is: a very basic, bare-bones installation of a Solaris 10 server -- WITH zones.
Perhaps this is an impossible dream. Is it?

SMS delievery reports, call failed, internet hang

I am Prateek Samtani, have a blackberry 9300 with vodafone as my service provider. I have following 3 issues with my handset:-
1. I don't receive sms delivery reports, have checked in options for sms and delivery reports is on yes status. Also, I have talked to vodafone rep at their center, there is no problem with my network and with their terms and conditions for blackberry.
2. Sometimes, my internet connection stops working and reconnects everything again. This issue has also been checked with m friends using same service and also with vodafone center for this but no problem found.
3. While I talk on phone via call, it works fine and suddenly disconnects my call and error comes call failed. The network coverage remains same and it is now happening quite fequently now a days.
This handset was purchased from a store in Dubai and I am using it in India. The handset is 1 month 15 days old only.
Kindly, help me with the same as soon as possible and please give me instantaneous replacement and not to keep my handset with the service for days. I don't have any alternate mobile handset to use.

Just want you to know that my carrier (T-Mobile in Germany) sent the iPhone to Apple after they checked the phone themselves (and didn't know what to do..)
Apparently Apple couldn't solve the problem too, they gave me a brand new iPhone...

It is really annoying as sometimes the phone doesn't respond to attempts to end the call before it connects to the number. I then have to explain that it was my phone and not me, I look like an idiot, which I don't really need any extra help with!! Does anyone have any ideas? I don't want to stop missed call from showing in the locked screen but it might be associated with the failed calls and therefore be the only resolution

I have had the same issue which was driving me mad but think I have just found a way around it. In iOS 7 if you swipe up on the lock screen to access quick settings and go into timer then click the home button you get into the phone without calling the person back. Not a great 'fix' but hope it works for you. Come on Apple this isn't good enough, fix this bug otherwise you will lose your customers.

Normally when traveling internationally we reccommend setting up international services prior to leaving. When you added the services did you do so online or with a rep? You can reset the phone and it won't cause any problems or cause you to lose any data - Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Silver Apple appears.
The other thing you should do is to reset your network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. You will have to set up your Wifi again, but that oftentimes clears things up.

I was on the phone and the call failed and then told me I had no service and now has barley any service and im in a normally high sevice area.

First try resetting your phone:
Press the sleep/wake button & home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the Apple logo, then release.

Phone says "call failed" with full service

at school, especially, my phone has 3, 4, or full bars, but when i try to call someone, it either says call failed, or just doesn't ring, and keeps trying to call for minutes and minutes.
it only happens from time to time, but more often than not.
it can work in one spot one day, but not in the same spot the next.

Phone calls cutting off or saying call failed

hello. i have an iphone 4. recently upgraded to IOS7.
for the past few days everytime i make or recieve a call it always gets cut off or says call failed.
can anyone assist me with this?

I am having this same problem. I have an iPhone 4 AT&T, which until today had iOS 5.1. Over the last month or so, I have been either dropping calls, or the person whom I am speaking with can no longer hear me speaking, but I can hear them. AT&T made me upgrade iOs 7, swearing that it would solve the problem. Now I can't complete a call, and have a $100 per month paperweight that looks like Apple should be paying royalties to VTECH as my phone looks like a leapfrog children's toy instead of a phone. AT&T is "looking" for a solution to my area's coverage, which has been perfect for the last 24 months. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Also Apple: If you actually read these, let us choose what the desktop looks like because it looks like a lot of users HATE the new one.

Cannot make calls...always says "call failed"

hello. the problem is that i cannot make calls, every time that i have to make a calls a little sounds comes and in the screen says "call failed".
what can i do?

The standard troubleshooting steps for the iPhone in order are; power the iPhone off and on, Reset, Restore.
How long have you been using your iPhone? Has it always been this way, or is this a recent occurrence?
Do you have EDGE access?
Are you able to send and receive SMS?
Another troubleshooting step to try is removing and re-inserting your SIM card to make sure it is seated properly. Be sure to power your iPhone off before doing so.
If none of the above makes any difference, I would contact at&t to see if they are having any network problems in your area - assuming you have a home telephone or access to another phone - which is a good idea to use anyway when calling at&t or AppleCare in case they want you to perform any troubleshooting while on the phone.
If at&t is not reporting any temporary network problems, the next step to take is calling AppleCare (800) 694-7466 or make an appointment at an Apple Store if there is one nearby.

IPhone 4S Siri Will No Longer Voice Dial Contacts - Always Call Failed

I am not exactly sure when this started (5.0.1?), but when I ask Siri to dial someone in my contacts, Siri recognizes the request, proceeds to Dial the number and no matter which contact I try, I get an immediate "CALL FAILED" and then the iPhone immediately locks. I have restored the iPhone as new, Reset Network Settings, etc. to no avail. If I turn Siri off from Settings, the phone will revert to the previous Voice Control that was present in previous iPhones and Voice Calls are successful. Only when trying to use Siri do all voice initiated calls fail. And it is 100% consistent in the failure. This does not appear to be a Siri network issue, as all Siri other Siri requests work and are speedy. Co-workers with the 4S are also experiencing the same issue, so it does not appear to be specific to just my iPhone. Can anyone else confirm? Thanks.

OK, so i have tracked it down to a single AT&T Cell Tower location in my instance, but it also just so happens to be at my office, which means I am affected by it all day. What is happening is that at this particular location, the AT&T tower is misconfigured or experiencing some type of technical issue, resulting in the inability of the cell tower to handle simultaneous voice and data. Siri uses data to match the contacts, names etc and hands off to the Phone dialer, which immediately experiences a call failure as a result of the 3G Data still being in use by Siri. You can verify simultaneous voice and data connectivity by placing a voice call and then attempting to use 3G data (you must not be using WiFi to determine if this is a problem with the Cell network). While in a voice call, launch the Speedtest.net Mobile Speed Test app. You will clearly see that 3G data services have all but ceased if this is your problem. End the Voice Call and run the Speedtest.net Mobile Speed Test again and 3G data will work fine.
I have reported the problem via AT&T's Mark the Spot App numerous times and had my colleagues do the same and called AT&T Wireless customer service to no avail. They simply refuse to acknowledge the issue is on their end. I personally know at least 5 other iPhone 4S users in my office who are experiencing the same issue and the results can be consistently recreated on all of their devices. And again, once they leave the office in the afternoon, all of their services return to normal and they can again make and place Voice initiated phone calls without the dreaded Call Failed. Thanks AT&T.

Dropped calls and "Call failed" on edge

My experience has been the opposite from others on the forum with the new 2.0.2 software. I can get 3G in town and I can place and receive calls just fine. At home, I only have an edge connection with usually 2-3 bars. 9 out of 10 calls I try to make from home fail. I get the three beeps and "Call failed" message on the screen. Usually it is a split second after I hit the call button. It's not even trying to make the call. I have restored it, restarted, etc. and it still happens! I cannot make a phone call at all. This is my business phone, and it is affecting my response to clients. Anyone have any suggestions? I will probably go to the genius bar tomorrow, but if I don't have to go through the hassle, I won't.

Does this happen in all locations, or just your home?
What does the AT&T coverage map show for your home?
I live in a moderate area, and AT&T's disclaimer on the coverage map says that Good and Moderate may not have in building coverage. Not only does my iPhone sometimes not pick up a signal or complete calls, the same applies to other AT&T phones there.
My home is also made of stucco, which along with brick and cement block, is one of the worst materials for blocking signals.
If this only happens in one location, I would recommend contact AT&T and see if they will open a ticket. The probably won't open a ticket if your coverage is listed as "Moderate"
