Sms from a midlet, but directly
I have a problem with a gsm phone that won't send sms messages through the regular interface that comes with the phone (it recieves though), i guess its blocked or something...
Anyways, i tought a way to make it send sms messages is making something in j2me that will handle the sms messaging completely, that means without having to go through the phone's sms configuration, create the link between the phone and my service provider's sms gateway thingy, and send the message.
Now, before i start i need to know if this is even possible with j2me? If yes, how?

When you first send a mesage, the status should be shown as Sent. When we receive the delivery notification (Delivered or Failed) from the recipient's carrier, we will display it in your Skype client. However, if we do not receive any confirmation, we retry sending your message for up to 24 hours after which we will automatically refund you if a confirmation is still not received or if the message status from the operator indicates a failure.

Transfer SMS from folders in 6230 to E71
hi, till now i was using the 6230 and have recently bought an E71. i have managed to transfer everything including SMS from the inbox but have NOT been able to transfer the messages saved in a folder on the 6230, nor am i able to move the messages back to the inbox in the 6230. i hope i'm clear with my query.. can someone pls help??

you can also use the Lifeblog application to backup all your multimedia items from the phone. install the S60 client, install the PC client and just press the Sync button. all your pics, videos, SMS/MMS will be backep up to your PC (to be able to sync, you still need PC Suite)

the 6300 doesn't support Lifeblog, but what i proposed is an alternative solution to the Content Copier proposed earlier (in case Content Copier fails, you still have them on PC)
or you can simply try to move all your SMS to the MMC (memory card) and then check the compatibility with your new 6300

First, how do I create my own favorite theme template for DVD slideshows? I used to be able to select this from pulldown menu, but cannot now do so. I am directed straight to already existing themes, which take more memory. I have a large slideshow, and need all the space I can get. I just want to use a picture as my DVD cover, and then insert a slideshow. Also, when I try to burn my 8.5gb double sided slideshow, all that burns is the music. It is a large slideshow, a memorial on the life of my now deceased brother. This means a lot to me and to my family, and I am having so much trouble trying to burn it. I have gone into Project View and selected appropriately. The bar shows I have room to burn this DVD, but it does not burn. I have burned so many DVDs in the past, but this one just will not burn. I am so confused at this point. I will say this is the first 8.5gb I have attempted to create and burn. My specs list a 7.7gb or 4.7gb as operable....but there are no 7.7gb dvds. I had to purchase 8.5gb. Help? What am I doing wrong? I have spent so much time on this, and just cannot figure it out.

Give iPhoto a look at for creating the slideshow. It's easy to assemble the photos in an album in iPhoto, put them in the order you want and then make a slideshow of them. You can select from various themes and transitions between slides and add music from your iTunes library.
When you have the slidshow as you want use the Export button at the bottom of the iPhoto window and export with Size = Medium or Large.
Save the resulting Quicktime movie file in your Movies folder.
Next, open iDVD, choose your theme and drag the QT movie file into the menu window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Then follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
The reason I suggest iPhoto is that I find it much easier to use than iMovie (except for the older iMovie 6 HD version). Personal preferences showing here. -
I am unable to delete music from my iPhone5 either directly or via PC. On the iPhone the tracks disappear when swiping left and deleting but the phone remains full and the data is still visible on the PC. The music was installed on the phone from the backup of a previous model but with the addition of new tracks I am now unable to add more or update to the next operating system as the phone is full. On my PC the music is still there and but the neither the delete function or any form of sorting/management on the music files is functional. Other Apple products work OK including previous phone, ipad.ipods etc Any advice/help available to get past this would be appreciated.
I think it is 7.1.1 - there was another update today which I've uploaded but it didn't make any difference. It's just the music libary on the 5 that's causing me problems.

Why can't I see the purchase history from the ipad? I mean, I can buy apps and in game content directly from my iPad, but I have have to install iTunes on my PC to see the purchase history? What kind of deal is that?

You don't need to install iTunes for the purchase history. You can see it in your iPad (iTunes > Purchased), but you need to install it if you want the order numbers -
I cannot find a way to authorize my new computer to play previously purchased music from itunes. The directions say to click on STORE menu, but I don't see that option.
Go to the Store menu item on the menu bar, and choose Authorize This Computer, as shown below.
If by any chance you don't see the menu bar (File, Edit, View, Controls, Store, Help), first enable it by using CTRL+B. -

View Solution.No, its not that easy. AirPrint is a "driverless" print environment and must have hardware and firmware support in the printer to be able to print. Other apps are more of a traditional driver-based print apps and can find and print to the printer on a network without it having to support AirPrint.

Hi! Just got my new ihpone 4 yesterday, but i'm having issues in texting a specific contact. sending sms or iMessages works perfectly fine with all my contacts apart from 1,which is even using my same network, though i can call it and receive sms from it. What could the problem be?

Altivec Fractal Carbon gives the CPU too much chance to cool down. I've got other ways to drive the CPU to sustained 100% load. Yes, the fans speed up, but it's still pretty quiet. I've run it at 100% for hours.
I like the idea of taking things gradually. If you can wait a few days before making big changes, it can make things much easier. 3-4 weeks is very conservative, but great if you have that much patience.
My Quad has been up full-time since I got it. Works perfectly.

That's more likely to be a carrier issue than an iPhone issue. You should each contact your respective carriers.

How to display data sent from a midlet to a servlet over an outputstream in
a browser??

Currently I send data to a servlet from a midlet and the servlet recieves and processes the data (confirmed through breakpoints) but I want to display the data in a JSP or directly thru the servlet using html tags.
However I can forward or redirect the data from the servlet to my jsp code but this still doesn't launch a browser.
A little more detail... I am not sending information from a JSP to the servlet. The servlet is listening on a port for input, so the servlet is being invoked directly when the data comes in. In the current state my servlet sends the results in a session object to a JSP which gets the results but can't display them since it doesn't launch browser.
Does anybody know how I can achieve what I am trying to do or maybe suggest a better way to do it?

Well i have to send short message from webserver to any client.But not from client to client.Like any products inforamtions to clients.Because i can't find api in any webserver to send sms to client.While from client I have found api in sl45i to send to any smsc server.But not in webserver.
I i will make this possible.

Jawwad AhmedI don't quite understand what you are trying to do but so far, here is what I have understood.
1. You want to send SMS from Webserver to your mobile phone
2. Want J2ME Emulator to process SMS.
<1> Sending SMS from webserver is quite easy. You have several options:(a) connect a mobile phone to your server and 'talk' to the phone using Gnokii or GSMLib to send SMS. The mobile phone will take care of communicating with SMSC of your provider (b) get in touch with your provider and ask if you can connect to their SMSC directly. Some allow you to connect to their SMSC via a modem connection (c) look for public SMSC's, which are scarce.
<2> Unfortunately, MIDP 1.0 does not allow you to retrieve SMS from the phone... nor does the Siemens SDK, AFAIK. You cannot process SMS using the Emulator as well. You need a real device to test your application. -
Transferring SMS from Nokia 9300i to E7-00

I have a major problem which is preventing me form leaving my Nokia 9300 behind. I depend on SMS a lot and I have my SMS archived on the phone in several folders (I don't keep them in the inbox of course). I was very happy to see that we can restore the "nbu" file directly to E7. However, I was surprised to see that Nokia PC Suite doesn't backup all of the SMS folders. It only backs up the original system folders (inbox, outbox, drafts, sent).
I've tried copying or moving my SMS from the folders I've created for them back into inbox but the system doesn't allow that. I've tried copying them into drafts and it can be done but I lose all the crucial data (when and who).
I need to know if there's a solution to backup those folders and move them to E7.

MoumenIf 9300i works ok with Ovi suite, bit of a work arround and laborious, but if you sync messages with Ovi (after transferring them all to back to inbox) you can then connect E7 and drag and drop them from Ovi suite to the E7 !
