Sms from windows 8

why dows not someone create an app that you can send sms and calls from the windows 8 (pc or tablet) through the phone plan (also using windows 8) using carrier plan (sms from monthly plan or minutes)?
if you are logged with the same user on the wp and on the Pc/tablet running w8, you should be able to see all your sms and calls
sms should be simple as some of the messages (e.g. facebook) are syncronised with onedrive, calls i think is more complicated.
but at least text mesages to be able to send and receive them also from/on pc it would be something more then the competition (OS and Andoid)

The Tailoring your Windows Store app for hardware and devices
forum is for developers to discuss writing their own Windows Store apps. There are API available for mobile carriers to write SMS apps if they so desire.

  • Desktop SMS and Windows Mail don't work properly together

    Hi
thought I would post there here as been having some issues with my Windows Mail but my desktop computer doesn't suffer same issues and on a Vista forum where I posted my problem a couple of very helpful told me who to try solving the issues.
One of them suddenly realised I'd said my laptop was a Toshiba and apparently the Desktop SMS and Windows Mail just don't work properly together so the person suggested unless I use it to uninstall it apparently amongst the technically trained its known that these two programs don't like each other and would explain why my desktop doesn't have the issue but laptop does.
After resetting the Windows Mail (tutorial on a vista site http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/) Touch wood don't be put off by vistax64 as site does both 32 and 64 and followed Brink's excellent resetting Windows Mail (didn't restore any mail) and then uninstalled Desktop SMS and touch wood no more mail issues as has been giving me problems virtually daily with marking draft emails as read/sent.
So had to click on forward then delete those bits and finish email to send it and touch wood since doing these two things as soon as send an email to draft or outbox get the number of emails in the brackets whereas before this wouldn't happen unless I closed the program then reopened it.
Hoping these solutions have fixed my problem and wanted to share it with anybody else who wants to read this thread and would recommend the Vista 64 site as they're all really helpful over there and speak in non technical terms for those of us not technically trained.
    Debbie

I have marked this as answered as it was more a post to help others who may have experienced the same problem I did and didn't get a reply or just didn't know that this program could be the reason their Windows Mail has issues that can't seem to be resolved any other way apart from ignore them and hope they don't get worse.

  • Composing SMS from Contact List

I have a Blackberry Pearl 8100 and when I go into my contact list and select a name to SMS and then add another recepient to send the same message to it comes up with first person I selected to SMS again i.e. I picked Wendy first and added Brian to send the same message to, yet it shows Wendy's name twice. Yet, when I go to check the two mobile ph#'s that I'm sendin the SMS to, they are different as I expect. Also, if I save the SMS as a draft, and I open it up again in my email inbox it displays Wendy & Brian's name correctly. Furthermore, if I compose a SMS from my email inbox I don't get the problem I've mentioned above. Is there a way to solve this?

You are not reading what the responses say.
One option is to use an e-mail interface to a SMS service. To send a SMS, you send an e-mail. The recipient address is for example the mobile number. The e-mail body the SMS message.
Another option is to use a standard telnet like interface of a SMS service. You connect to the service (using UTL_TCP for example) and then provide the mobile number, SMS message, and so on.
Yet another option is a serial interface requiring a modem and telephone. You dial the SMS service and via the modem provide the mobile number and SMS message. Standard RS323/serial modem communication.
    Etc.
There are many such options. The one to use depends entirely on the infrastructure that is available to send a SMS.
But please, do not be so ignorant to think that Oracle PL/SQL can create a SMS and magically send that across a cellular network, without you having the required infrastructure to connect you to that cellular network, and deliver a SMS for transmission to that network.

  • How to merge sms from iPhone 5 to iPhone 6

I want to merge my old text messages to my new iPhone 6. I have started using my new 6 which has a number of text messages I want to keep but now I want to transfer old sms from my iPhone 5 (backed up to iTunes 1 hour ago). I know I can restore the 6 from the 5 backup but will this overwrite the new content on the 6?
I also see many ways to save the old messages to PC but very little on moving them to the new phone, and again will this overwrite new messages?
I'm using Windows 7,the latest iTunes and iOS 7 on the 5.

I upgraded from an iPhone 4S to iPhone 6 Plus, I don't like to run iTunes, and iCloud backup is not so reliable, I think. Then I searched on the Internet, and some articles told me that I can directly transfer data from Phone to iPhone with some tools.
I doubt it first, then I gave a shot on one of them for the free trial. I follow the steps to transfer about 200 sms from my 4S to 6 Plus, and it works!
    Got this from here: http://www.cultofmac.com/296711/transfer-data-new-iphone-6-imazing/

    1. Open WMADemo
    2. Run WMA Console (File->Utilites->WMA Console)
    3. On the top of the window of WMA Console you will see the number of "Console's phone". If you don't have any started emulators, the number will be +5550000.
    4. Run WMADemo
    5. Select SMS Send in emulator menu.
    6. In destination address write +5550000

  • Transfer SMS from old Symbian to WP7 - A Workaroun...

    Hey Folks,
I recently bought a new Lumia 800. Unfortunately it is not possible to migrate SMS from my old Nokia 5800 to my new device directly.
The information I've gathered led to the conclusion, that isn't possible to access the SMS storage of WP7. Even developers can't. Consequently there is no direct migration tool (yet).
But my researches led to a workaround solution, which makes it possible to have your old SMS accessible on your new phone.
The general idea is to export the old text messages and store them in the windows live account as e-mails.
    How to go about it:
Connect your old phone via Nokia Suite with your PC
Use the Back-Up Function, which creates an "nbu" File, that can be used to restore your data
    Download NBU-Explorer (http://sourceforge.net/projects/nbuexplorer/)
Open the Back-Up File (nbu) with the NBU Explorer
Extract your SMS-Folders as VMG Files
    Download ABC Amber Nokia Converter
Open the extracted VMG Files with the converter
Select all and click on "Save selected messages as EML..."
    Open Windows Live Mail (http://explore.live.com/windows-live-essentials)
Log in to you Hotmail/Live Account
Create a new folder "SMS" (or how whatever is convenient for you)
Drag the EML Files into your Folder
Wait until Windows Live Mail has processed the files
    you're done!
Now you can open the Hotmail Account on your Windows Phone and read your old SMS.
Maybe you have to change the syncing options, that all messages are being downloaded. The default setting is that only messages from the past 7 days are downloaded
I know that this is not very elegant at all, but if you have important SMS that you need to access on your mobile device, then this is the best solution. Or is there a better one? Feel free to comment!

Given the lack of saving text messages, there is a touch of brilliance in your solution.
I would like to save a message to send quickly, a feature that have been found on the most basic of phones,
    I used to have:
    Im stuck in traffic
    I will be home soon
Put the dinner in the dog I will be late
Im at the pub come get me
Just a few handy time saving things.
If a smart phone is smart, why is mine so dumb

  • HP LaserJet Enterprise 500 Color MFP M575 - Can't scan from Windows

We recently purchased and installed an HP LaserJet Enterprise 500 Color MFP M575 to be used as a networked all-in-one solution for a number of offices. I have been able to get it set up on our network and have installed the appropriate drivers on the requested Windows 7 x64 machines, and network printing works perfectly. However, it seems that despite the fancy scanning features available from the all-in-one itself (scan to email, scan to a network folder, etc.), I can't find any way to do an old-fashioned scan from Windows.
I have installed the full software solution available on the driver download page for the device, and while Windows lists the device as a "Multi Function Printer; Scanner" it does not recognize it as an actual scanner. The built-in Windows Fax and Scan simply reports that no scanners are installed. The software installation did not include the HP Solution Center (which I am used to seeing from my experience with various other HP all-in-one devices) or any equivalent for direct scanning. The driver download page for the device does not include any separate scanning drivers, so I can't be certain if they were included with the full installation or exist at all. Some of our staff also use Adobe Acrobat to scan, and even that fails to recognize the MFP as a scanner.
We'll eventually be setting up the device to scan directly to a network folder, but we need a fallback while IT takes their time getting it set up; I can't imagine that the simplest option is not available at all. I must be missing something here, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: To add, I also ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor. Interestingly, it reports the device as a printer and only offers to "Fix Printing" without any sort of resolution for my scanning problem.

There is no change to this problem after 6 months since the last post. Put simply, and as stated in the previous posts, there is no way to scan a document and receive the image on your PC. If you are working with graphics for any length of time or want to create an image for inclusion as an image in a document or web page using this piece of equipment will not allow you to do so.
Great shame as every other function works well - it cannot be beyond the wit of HP to include a Windows application that enables you to scan an image, receive it in the software you are using at the time (e.g. Outlook, Word, Photoshop...) and use it in your work.
HP Printers several years older than this £1000+ Enterprise printer were able to do this simple job and have done so for a great many years. Just being able to use Microsoft's Fax and Scan would be start.

  • HP OfficeJet 6500 E709a: cannot scan from Windows 8.1; uninstall crashes at step 8 of 10

When I try to scan from Windows 8.1, launched from the HP Solution Center, it fails before giving me a preview, saying:
    Scanning error
    4,[(2,22,80040001),(3,22,0)]
When I run the HP Print and Scan Doctor and select "Fix Scan", it fails on the first check, saying it failed to find the driver. The text field that gets uploaded to HP includes the string "hpbxpsrender.dll: Not Found".
I tried uninstalling, using uninstall.bat in the "OJ_AIO_6500_E709_EntScruber_140" (HP OfficeJet Enterprise 14.0), which I downloaded from HP.com. It gets to step 8 of 10 ("removing unnecessary components..."); then it hangs and Windows 8.1 says "HP Installer Uninstaller has stopped working" and kills it.
I have tried running uninstaller in regular mode, in regular mode with my anti-virus / firewall (Kaspersky) paused (disabled), and in Safe Mode with Networking. Same result every time.
I have run the Installer without error. I can view the HP OJ status web page in my browser (http://192.168.1.5) from both computers.
I don't remember if scanning has ever worked on this computer. Scanning works on another computer (Windows XP). Both computers are wired (Ethernet) to the same network switch as the HP OJ.

    Hi DonaldPayne,
Welcome back to the HP Support Forums! I see you are not able to scan to your HP Officejet 6500 with your computer running the Windows 8.1 Operating system. You have tried to uninstall the software but get an error message.  I see you have done ALOT of troubleshooting already, thank you for that, this allows me to see what has failed for you.
I would like you to continue here and complete the steps listed below:
    1. Press the Windows key + R on the keyboard to bring up the run menu.
    2. Type %programfiles% in the run field and click OK.
    3. Delete any HP/Hewlett Packard folders.
    4. Press the Windows key + R on the keyboard to bring up the run menu.
    5. Type %programfiles(x86)% in the run field, and click OK. This is for 64 bit systems only.
    6. Delete any HP/Hewlett Packard folders.
    7. Press the Windows key + R on the keyboard to bring up the run menu.
    8. Type %appdata% in the run field, and click OK.
    9. Delete any HP/Hewlett Packard folders.
    10. Press the Windows key + R on the keyboard to bring up the run menu.
    11. Type %programdata% in the run field.
    12. Delete any HP/Hewlett Packard folders.
    13. Press the Windows key + R on the keyboard to bring up the run menu.
    14. Type regedit in the run field.
    15. Delete any HP/Hewlett Packard folders or keys that you find. (backup the reg file b4)
    16. Run Disk cleanup from Administrative Tools
    17. Now run the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows it was created to help Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 users download and install the latest and most appropriate HP software solution for their HP Printer.
    18. If you run into any problems after installing using the PIW, now we can re run the HP Print and Scan Doctor- It was designed by HP to provide users with the troubleshooting and problem solving features needed to resolve many common problems experienced with HP print and scan products connected to Windows-based computers.
I will watch for your reply, please make note of anything that you run into as well as what the PSDR finds.

  • Printing from windows 8.1 pro

    i can't print form a windows 8.1pro computer
    on network
it seams to send the information but the imac do nothing
i installed bonjour in a win7 and it runs ok
but on win8.1 pro dose not work
    what can i do?

Printing to Mac printers from Windows computers sometimes doesn't work right over Bonjour. Usually, you can get it to work without Bonjour by putting the Mac and the PC on the same Workgroup, and adding the printer like any normal network device.
Before you do this though, may I ask if you attempted to connect this printer directly to your network, and circumvent the computer altogether? Also, what kind of printer is it?

  • Windows 7 x64 can't read/install any printer drivers from Windows Server 2003 x64 (AMD64 folder and HP Deskjet 855c)

I read the thread Widows 7 printer
HP deskjet 855c driver about possible installation of HP855c drivers onto Windows 7 x64 from "Windows Server 2003 x64" CD but I didn't have enough luck to succeed with doing it on my laptop. That thread appears to be dead now
as it is marked "Answered", so I'm asking for help here. I have Toshiba Satellite P500 with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (http://i55.tinypic.com/2zgth6v.jpg).
Let me tell you first that I don't have access to Windows Server 2003 x64 or XP Pro 64 CD's. However I did some research online, which eventually forced me to learn about the "file sharing". After extensive search I was able to get the copies
of AMD64 folders from Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard x64 with SP2 and
XP Pro 64. The reason that I went also after XP Pro was because I thought that the extra wording "R2 Standard x64 with SP2" in description of "Windows Server 2003" did not reflect the exact name provided by poster
Alan. I couldn't find just "Windows Server 2003 x64" (does it matter?).
Anyway, I followed first the drill with running "printui /s /t2" and disabling UAC, and then in both cases I was able to locate the
NTPRINT.INF file (http://oi51.tinypic.com/9qwvt2.jpg - this image is from XP Pro AMD64 folder) but each time when I
attempted to install the driver, I got the same message stating:
"The folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software drive for your device. If the folder contains the driver, make sure it's designed to work with Windows for x64-based systems." (http://oi53.tinypic.com/27yveiw.jpg)
    Why aren't there x64 drivers?
During several installation attempts I had the printer connected to or disconnected from my laptop. It didn't make any difference. I must add that for this purpose I had to use different cable than the original one designated only for the
Parallel port in my old desktop with Windows XP. My new laptop with Windows 7 x64 came only with 3 USB ports (plus 1 HDMI and 1 Serial). Because of that situation I bought in advance a new printer cable called “USB to 36-pin Parallel Port Adapter
Cable” (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003A8I75E). I'm not sure, if it will work until I can install the printer.
Besides, nobody talked about this issue yet. I was also playing with the port choices in "Add printer" step; changing from default LPT1 to USB001 with the same negative results.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I was very hopeful after reading positive "case closed" notes there.
Can anyone help me here, maybe by making the necessary files available for download? I'm willing to pay for such assistance or make a donation, if necessary. Seriously. Judging by the large number of views of the original
thread, one could assume that there is a potential demand for such service. It would be more human to pay few bucks for a few driver files than $900 for the whole Windows Server 2003 x64 CD, no? Can Microsoft accomodate me/us, please? :)
    Andrew*
P.S. I was advised to come for help here from
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/windows-7-x64-cant-readinstall-any-printer-drivers/4e7d06e1-33a5-4597-be70-4fdc087a63a7?msgId=9a045994-0d31-4d40-b17d-dba372393ee4

I have my HP 855c/driver working on Win 7 Ultimate x64. I used the 'printui /s' procedure and 4 files described above with some minor changes.
I pulled WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB914961-SP2-x64-ENU.exe down from the Microsoft website. Running the file causes the exe to unpack into a temp folder at the root drive. A 'Setup Error' message box is displayed once the file is run. I left this
message box up until I copied ntprint.inf, ntprint.cat, and sp2.cab from the temp folder.
I copied driver.cab from a Windows XP Pro disc. I also needed amd64\stdnames.gpd which was already in my Windows 7 c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3 folder.
I created a folder with the 5 files (ntprint.inf, ntprint.cat, sp2.cab, driver.cab, and amd64\stdnames.gpd). This is my 'Have Disc' folder.
I followed the 'printui /s' instructions, first changing the permissions mentioned above and then installing the driver. Next I followed the instructions to add a printer from Control Panel 'Devices and Printers' - 'Add Printer', choosing to 'use an existing
driver' when installing the HP 855c.
I used a slightly different ntprint.inf, size 1570418. The readable contents of ntprint.inf is as follows. Notice the line 'CatalogFile=ntprint.cat' is not included. I tried using the 1570468 version of ntprint.inf; when I did I received an incompatibility
message (probably the same one mentioned above).
