SMS limitations on BB

#1 BB does not split up messages into 160 byte messages.
I believe the fix involves using MMS (not a fix for ppl who block data) or using third party software like CrunchSMS. I have never used this, and do not know if its worth it. Is it decent? Or should I avoid it? I dont want to risk the trial install if it messes with the system, and as I understand I need to edit my security prefs to get it to work.
#2 Can send to more than 10 ppl at once
Would creating groups resolve this? What if I do not normally send messages to these people and do not wish to create a group? Again I have to wonder if CrunchSMS would be the fix.
Thanks,
John

No there no such option.

  • Sending SMS limitation in Symbian.

    Nokia 9500.
When trying to send a message from within Nokia 9500 OS I cannot select any recent callers, missed calls numbers or recently dialed. I can only select recepients from my Address Book. Very annoying. Am I missing something?
    Julian

    Hi
I tend to check Recent call logs and then do 'Add to Contacts'
Depends on what you're doing but I tend to find I use these numbers more than once so it's worthwhile.

  • Texting / SMS on iPhone

I'm thinking about getting a 3G iPhone to replace my Nokia 9300i. A quick test drive at the local O2 shop revealed that the SMS application doesn't make use of the 90 deg screen rotate, so you can't use it in "landscape" mode. I composed a test msg with two thumbs (which is fast & accurate on my 9300i) and it was slow, annoying and unreadable, due to the number of typos. The virtual key pad is tiny!
Is there an upgrade or aftermarket tool which allows SMS to be used in landscape mode with much bigger keys across the bottom of the screen?
    Thanks in advance.

Sinec you are interested in SMS/text, be aware of some other SMS limitations/differences vs Nokia as several of made a transition from Nokia phones to the iPhone 3G before returning the iPhones (signal quality issues well documented by this).
One cannot forward SMS messages, nor can you cut, copy & paste. In addition you cannot insert any contact info from the contact application into a text message, as the equivalent of "insert contact", "insert number" does not exist on the iPhone. So make sure you have a pen & paper with you at all times.
Also, you cannot delete individual texts sent or received on your iPhone. You must delete the entire text history which is quite annoying.
Will Apple improve/change anything soon? I doubt it. They lauched the Original iPhone with an SMS application that could not address a text to more than just one recipient which was simply absurd. It was 7 months after the original phone was launched before they enabled this in a new firware update.

  • Desperately need more iOS 7 SMS Recipients

Several years ago I made a jump to iPhone from my old Moto Razr. My ultimate concern with iOS has always been the limited SMS texting capabilities with multiple recpients.
On my old Razr, I could setup a group of say 200 phone contacts and send a text out to all at once. With my iPhone i used an app called SMS Sender and it worked fine over the last few years. It involved creating the group on the computer then sending it over to the phone. A few extra steps, but thats how I had to do it.
Now, with iOS 7, Apple has capped my SMS recipients to a total of 10 on my 4S. I now find myself scrambling to find someone with an non-iOS 7 iPhone or "other" Sprint phone to sell me, just so that I could get this funtion again. The high recipient text messaging was a huge benifit to my business and I really need this function back ASAP!
Does anyone have an alternative method or suggestion?  Im really desperate, please help!

Thanks for trying kb1951, however this is definately an iOS 7 limititation.
Setting up groups in iCloud does not do anything for SMS recipient limitations. In iOS 6, 5 and 4... This feature worked fine with AT&T and then after with Sprint.
This problem came immediately after the iOS 7 update. When we tested SMS with over 50 recipients with an iOS 6 Sprint phone with same plan - it still works fine.
ALL iOS 7 phones have a SMS limitation, not just mine or with Sprint.
    Other methods I have tried;
turning off iMessage, turning off MMS, logging out of iCloud... each time a SMS has more than 10 recipients, iOS 7 notifies of limitation.
I am rarely frustrated with my Apple products, but this is definately one of those times. I'd hate to have to resort to purchasing an older phone just because the new one cant do something the older one can.

  • Do you know what it means when messages are blue on iphone, do you know what it means when messages are blue on iphone

do you know what it means when messages are blue on iphone

Green messages are normal SMS messages and consume your carrier's SMS plan messages. Blue messages are those sent via the new iMessage service and are sent over a wifi or data connection. They do not count toward SMS limits, and can be sent to anyone with iMessage activated on any iDevice - iPhone, iPad, or iPod.

  • Changing the SOUND of Email

I know this is dumb...here it goes. I have iPhone 4.0. Love it. However, when my email arrives, it makes this lame noise. When I had 3.0 it was a like a ping and I could hear it much better and knew immediately I have email. I went to settings for email and it seems to have an on/off switch and that is it. Can somewhere steer me to the path that would like me pick which sound I want to hear when email arrives? THX! Maud

There is no option to change the sound for anything other than SMS (limited selection) or for calls (ringtones).

  • Not all text messages get sent from Droidx or Droidx2

My family has stock Droid x and Droid x2s. We are using the Text App that comes with the phones. Both phones have this same problem.
Sporadically, text messages do not get sent.  They remain hung up, showing the green 'sending' arrow. None of the message goes out.
I have been able to identify the problem, but not reason, in one instance.
This message will not send. (dashes not included)
    Page one
    Jjhhbhhhvcfxdffggcccffg
    gggvccffffffgggffgggggfffff
    fggfffffffgggfffffffffffggggt
    ggggggggggggttttttgtyyyy
    ygyytyyyyyyyyyyttttttttt
    tytttyyy
    yyyyyyyt
    Start page two¿
It appears that text in a message is broken up into 145 character chunks (probably for SMS limits).
Notation on my text app shows pages and characters left.( e.g. 145/1 for 145 characters
left, page 1 or 83/2 for 83 characters left on page 2)
    1. I'm not sure that sending text from my phone via email did not add/subtract characters.
    2. The 'P" in page one is the first character.
    3. The 'S' in Start page two is the beginning of page 2
    4. The '¿'  (an upside down question mark) at the very end of the text message is the problem.
If I replace it with any standard keyboard characters, the message gets sent.
If this  is located anywhere on the second page, the text won't send. Anywhere on the first
    page, it sends OK.
The fact that this character (Hex 'bf', for those that care) can be sent on the first page smells
    like a bug.
Thanks for listening to a blithering idiot!!

    Thanks for your response!
    To answer your questions:
No, yes, yes, no  . . . Just kidding!
Anyway, I had never used a third party app.  I just downloaded Handcent SMS
texting app.  It exhibited the same issue that the default app does.
The way the message behaves I'm sure it doesn't even get to the point of
trying to send the message. The sending arrow on the message stays with the
message forever, or till I delete it, and the  Handcent app shows its'
"sending" spinning gear on these messages forever.  Other successful
messages don't show these icons after the message is sent.
If I send a 'normal' message, the green arrow hangs around for a while and
then disappears once the message is sent.
I have tried to send this message to a friend who has an iphone and is on a
different carrier. It behaves the same, and does not leave my phone.
I have sent this message to myself from my wife's Droid X2 with the same
    symptoms.
The failing text I sent you before was what I used to trouble shoot the
problem ( to narrow down the 'offending' character). Below is a copy of the
original message that fails. If you could cut and paste this into phones you
folks have, you could try to send it yourself!  Note the "¿"  around the OK.

    ======Message end
I was able to copy the message above, paste it to my desktop as a text file,
open it from my phone and copy the text, then send it in a text message.  It
didn't send.  when I remove the upsidedown question mark, it sends OK
    Thanks for listening.

how do i track the number of messages sent? i am on a limited sms plan so i want to know how many messages was i able to send in a month. is there an (free) app for it??

Doubtful unless your carrier has an app that includes the option.
My carrier has an app that I can check current usage and past usage with a previous bill and pay the bill.

  • IS IPHONE 4S LIMITED ON sms usage per hour?

I'm looking at replacing my Motorola Milestone X with an iPhone 4s, providing it can meet my main need: I have a Church ministry whereby I send out text msgs to members for info updates and prayer requests, and there's 115 people in the group....Can the 4s send out more than 100 sms per hour or is it limited like the Android system?
Also, can the 4s access/use my groups setup in gmail???

Thanks for the prompt response...looks like I might as well stick with the Android since iPhone can't access groups and I definitely need access to those pre-determined groups I have set up in gmail.
    Thanks & Merry Christmas!!

  • Continuity Bluetooth Calling & SMS on Macbook Pro (via iPhone 5) Not Working

    Devices:
Macbook Pro Mid-2010 running OSX 10.10.2
    Iphone 5 running iOS 8.1.3
*NOTE: I understand that due to the version of the Bluetooth protocol in my machine, not all continuity features are available (Handoff, Air Drop, MBP Instant Hotspot)
However SMS to IMessage and the ability to make and receive calls from my Mac should be OK according to Apple's system requirements one-sheeter:
System requirements for Continuity on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac - Apple Support
    ================================================================================ =====================
    Here's my problem.
I finally took the plunge last night and updated my iPhone 5 from 7.1 to 8.1.3 to access the iCloud Drive and additional continuity features integrated into Yosemite.
When I tried to pair my iPhone 5 with my MBP over Bluetooth, all seemed to go well for the first 5 seconds.
    - Both devices were in discovery mode.
    - Mac saw the phone and displayed a security code
    - iPhone displayed the same security code and asked if I would like to pair with MBP
    - Pairing took place. Each devices Bluetooth profile / device showed up in my MBP Bluetooth's Preferences  and in my iPhone's Bluetooth.
    - 5 seconds later, there's no connection between devices.
    My iPhone displays:
"Connection Unsuccessful: Make sure [Macbook Pro] is turned on and in range." (The phone is 5 inches away)
Then sometimes I get this message:
"Connection Unsuccessful: [Macbook Pro] is not supported.
No rhyme or reason between the two either.
Here's the baffling part: When I activate my Phone's HotSpot function, the Bluetooth works and connects with my MBP allowing it to use my cell phone network's data for internet connectivity.
I don't understand what is going on or how to correct this? Can anyone succinctly explain how to correct this problems in layman terms?
If the devices can communicate long enough to exchange security codes and verify their identities, then use Hotspot,  there is clearly a data exchange happening. Where is the break down taking place when it comes time to stay connected to so I can continue to use the limited continuity features.
I've seen this question posted before by people having problems with different model years of MBP including the most recents models, so I know it's not mutually exclusive to my model year, but cannot seem to find clarity on an answer.

  • How can I transfer all my data including SMS to my mac/windows computer?

My friend has asked me to help her transfer all the data from her iPhone 3GS to a computer then to a hard drive. She has several folders with pictures in but image capture on mac is only picking up the one. I have an iPhone 4S and iPad 3 installed already on iTunes so don't want to accidentally erase her phone.
She also needs some of the SMS messages taking off of her phone and saving either as they are or in some form of text file so they are readable in the future.
How can I retrieve all this data including the messages without losing anything and can it be done for free?
If you need anymore info please just ask and I'll try and pass it on to the best of my (limited) knowledge.
    Thanks in advance!

SHe can also do a backup of her phone and it will save the text message, but she won't be able to view the text unless she restores to the backup.

  • How to set language in SMS editor ?

Hi, I use Nokia C-50. Since some time I cannot write SMS messages, because strange letters appear in SMS editor. Options -> Text language show me that Cestina language ist set. This is the first from the choice. When I set any other language like English or my Polish press OK and return to the editor I can write one letter and after it the editor switches back to Cestina language. How can I set the proper language permanently ?
Thak you in advance for your help
    Zbyszek

Hi JudaZ, thank you for your answere. I was trying to identify my mobile phone. It seems to be E52 . I tried many times, but I couldnt find the menu entries you suggested to choose. In editor options i only have the following entries:
        "add the receiver",
       "put in (template)",
       "sending options",
       "message details",
       "text language",
       "help",
       "leave" .
This is my free translation from polish. Under "sending options" I have the following:
                                  ->SMSC Centernet,
       "Keys codings"->"full or limited service",
       "receiving reports"->"no",
"how long the message is valid"->"24h",
       "message send as"->"text"
"answere by the centr." -> "no"
I tried each entry. Nothins has helped. The language is Cestina all the time !
I'd be thankfull if you help me and answere one more
    Regards

  • New SMS text not going directly to address book

In my messages folder, when I select  "Compose SMS Text" the options are limited to Phone or Email, and not my address book. I did not change any settings, this just appeared out of the blue. Could anyone here help?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I'm a little confused by your statement, could you try and re-phrase it please
In the meantime, try a Battery Pull:
    1. Remove the battery while phone is turned on
    2. Wait a few seconds before inserting it again
    3. Allow the long boot up process to finish (takes a few minutes usually)
This clears most software issues that occur on blackberries from time to time. You could also use Quickpull, a free app that simulates a battery pull without physically removing the battery: http://software.crackberry.com/product.asp?id=27660
A battery pull reclaims memory lost during application usage and clears minor software errors that creep in over time. The blackberry runs an OS just like your PC runs windows and the battery pull is the equivalent of a reboot/restart on your computer.

  • How to get email and sms alerts in 9i

    Hi,
I want to know that is there any method in 9i by which we may get mail and sms alerts whenever anything goes wrong with the database?
    Thanx

Why pay for something if you already have it, included in your license?
Only because you have to read documentation to use it?
Oracle will sooner or later include functionality in their monitoring products, they don't include in the RDBMS. In 10g you already rather use the controls than call the PL/SQL Apis directly.
Apart from that: the third party products you seem to promote, usually implement very limited functionality.
