SMS mailboxes have disappeared

After upgrading the software to 3.1 the inbox, outbox and sent mailboxes have disappeared from SMS. Now when I open SMS all I see is one long list of SMS's containing everying I have sent and received. Any ideas on how to get the mailboxes back?

The iPhone's Messages application has never had an Inbox, Sent, or Outbox. The iPhone's Messages application saves all messages in conversation format by each contact messages are exchange with similar to what an instant messaging application does.

Some of my mailboxes have disappeared. How do I recover them?

If they were on your phone when you last backed it up to iCloud, with some effort you may be able to restore them by following Winston Churchill's post here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/22600445#22600445.

  • Mailboxes have disappeared

I've had our iPad since the day the iPad was originally released and have had no issues with it. Last night when I checked my mail on the iPad, all the the mail accounts and all the mailboxes have disappeared. In the network setting they are all there, and in Mail I can send an e-mail from each account as long as I 'send' it from one of the accounts, but no mailboxes,, Inbox, Draft, Sent, Trash boxes are visible from ANY account.
The Mail icon on the iPad homepage says there are several messages in Mail, but when I go to Mail, there are no boxes available to see?
What is up? My daughter sometimes uses the iPad, could she have changed a preference or moved the mailboxes somewhere?
    Thanks for any help!

I am a bit puzzled as to your reference to the "network settings". If you mean the mail accounts are still on in the mail settings try a hard reset by pressing and holding down on the sleep button at the top of the iPad while holding down on the home button at the bottom, until the Apple logo appears and the iPad restarts. See if the Mail boxes show up now.

  • All The Notes and All my personalized Mailboxes and Smart mailboxes have disappeared

When I woke up my MacBook Pro and wanted to check email, all The Notes and All my personalized Mailboxes and Smart mailboxes have disappeared.
I only have the standard mailboxes like inbox, sent, trash, etc...
    Anyone can help with this?
    Thanks
    Short background:
I have upgraded recently from Snow Leopard to Lion.
I have lost a lot of software (and had to re-purchase licences and re-install it) but then I have said to myself BE IT! great that I did not lose critical stuff.
I have also said that I will do the Time Machine back-up when everything is working fine....
Well, I think I was a bit too quick with my statement and too slow with the back-up...
    Mugur

You are not getting them from there, you just verifying if you have a back up with notes (you will have to check the date and try to remember if had those at that date and time.) Then you have two ways to go - the apple way and third party way.
1 Apple way - restore from back up (downside is you going to lose changes to your phone since the last back up)
be careful - not to overwrite last back up when you connect your phone, I would find and copy back up file just in case to external drive. You can find location of your actual back up file using that article
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4946
if you expand where it says "where back ups are stored on the computer"
how to restore from itunes back up here
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
    2. not Apple way.- there are programs for windows that allow you to look inside of actual back up file.
Google is your friend for that one.
If you don't like my results just adjust search to your liking.

  • Hi, my Hotmail and icloud mailboxes have disappeared underneath the menu bar. If I drag the screen down I can see them but they pop back up wheb I try to click on them.  How do I fix this?

My mailboxes have disappered under the menu bar at the top of the screen.  Ican see them if I drag the screen down but they pop back up when I try to click on them.  How can I drag them down below the menu bar?

Well, in the end I contacted Apple and it was rather hit and miss but the problem was solved by deleteing the com.apple.mail.savedState file.  It took them a bit of time to sort it out and I had to be promoted up the chain of support but it worked.  Hope this is of use to others with the same problem,

  • Messages In Inbox and sent mailbox have disappeared

I have been using my mac e-mail for a considerable time with no problems however in the last month, I have lost virtually all of my messages in both my inbox and sent mailbox> I have checked my preferences and the deletion of e-mails is set to 'never'. Does anyone know what might be causing this and how to stop it from happening. Thanks.

    You’re welcome.
If the *.emlx files associated with those messages are gone from the filesystem, rebuilding mailboxes or re-creating the index cannot make them reappear.
There is no way to know what may have happened if you don’t know when it happened and what did you do that could have a bearing on it. What you mention about moving data between computers could certainly have a bearing on it when it happened the first time, but there is no way to know what the problem exactly was in that case either with the information you’ve provided...
If the messages are nowhere to be found and you don’t have a backup, you may try to salvage as many deleted *.emlx files as possible with a data recovery tool such as Data Rescue II, TechTool Pro, or FileSalvage. Of these, the only one I know for sure that can currently recover deleted *.emlx files is FileSalvage. Beware, however, that anything you’ve done with the computer since the messages were deleted may have caused them to be overwritten, which makes me believe your chances of recovering them now are pretty low...

  • Some of my mailboxes have disappeared

  • My mailboxes have disappeared

I opened up my mail only to find that none of my mailboxes exist.
I've lost all my emails from all my email accounts that were stored in my mailbox from the past three years. What can I do?

"Does this mean I have backup?"
No, it means those are the originl files. They are not gone. But your disk and certainly its index has been corrupted by the hard shut down.
So, as i noted in an earlier post, you need to run -- at minimum - disk repairs (via disk utility) on your hard drive. This needs to be doen booting from another drive -- in this case the CD is the easiest i'd guess. Let's see if you get lucky.
Month old backups are helpful against dire emergencies, but would, and maybe will, lose you a month of mail right now.
Its also a reason to ONLY use IMAP mail providers, since IMAP keeps a copy of your mail on the cmpany;s server. e.g.: vfemail, gmail.
You may be very very lucky. Go run the disk utility and report back.

  • All of my SMS messages have disappeared

    Hi everyone,
This morning I was sending a group text to 35 of my contacts. Whilst it was sending it disappeared, along with the rest of my texts, which dated back to when I first bought the phone in August 2008.
As with most issues, my first instinct was the switch the phone off and then back on again, but this didn't work. I also rebooted it (held the power and home button) but again, it didn't work.
For some reason, iTunes isn't presenting me with the option to "Restore from Back-Up", although I do have a fairly new laptop. I'm sure that I've created a Back-Up on my new laptop, but obviously not.
Does anybody know either (a) why this may have occurred or (b) how I can retrieve my lost text messages? This isn't essential, but as I said, I had texts dating back to August 2008 so it'd be nice to have them back!
Any help or information would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Matt.

For some reason, iTunes isn't presenting me with the option to "Restore from Back-Up", although I do have a fairly new laptop. I'm sure that I've created a Back-Up on my new laptop, but obviously not.
Where or when are you not being presented with the option? When selecting Restore with iTunes, you aren't presented this option until after your iPhone is erased and the firmware is re-installed. After the firmware is re-installed you are prompted to restore from the backup which is the default selection.
Your iPhone's backup is updated by iTunes as the first step during the iTunes sync process. Go to iTunes > Preferences and under the Devices tab you can view your iPhone's backup or backups if more than one is available and the date and time the backup was last updated.

  • After upgrading to Maverick mailboxes have disappeared. Even after checking library, rebuild etc. they are gone. With important data. Is there any hope?

Maverick - lost all my mailboxes (Apple Mail) with important datat. Followed advice on help menu to reindex, rebuild; called Apple Chat. No help.
Losing important data is a HUGE problem.
Also, Maverick no longer has the many folders I once had in my Home scree. These folders included other important information
carefully arranged. Are the files somewhere else? In what order? What a mess!

I woke up this morning with the same problem (all was fine last night).  Only way to get all my mailbox folders back was to use Time Machine while in Mail, choosing the backup file from previous night and selecting EACH MAILBOX to restore (23 for me).  All appears okay so far today (except some of my accessories in the menu bar are gone).
I sure hope an update comes SOON.  In anticipation of Mavericks and the new MAIL I switched from Outlook 2011 3 weeks ago transfering 17,000+ files and would hate to back

  • My mailboxes have disappeared when I installed Yosemite, but if I try to create a new mailbox by that name, it says I can not because the mailbox already exists  How do I get them to show up?

I upgraded mu iMac to Yosemite now my mailboxes don't show up in my mail.  If I try to create a new mailbox with the same name, it tells me that that mailbox already exists.  How do I get my mailboxes to appear?

The mailbox list is divided into categories with headings in caps, such as ON MY MAC. When you hover the cursor over one of those headings (except for MAILBOXES), you should see the word Show or Hide on the right. Click Show. The  MAILBOXES category can't be hidden.
In each category, the mailboxes are arranged in groups, such as Inbox. To the left of each group is a small disclosure triangle. If the triangle points to the right, click it so that it points down.

Yeah, I've read those threads where I thought the poster might be experiencing the same error as myself - however, none of the posters of those threads are experiencing the same error as myself, and I began experiencing the error early (GMT) on the 16th.

  • I have just upgraded to Mountain Lion and on going back into Mail all my Mailboxes have disappeared, how do I get them back?

Help with Mountain Lion and Mail

    Hi Anitra,
Did you updated from OSX Lion to Mountain Lion? And iPhoto was installed on your Mac? Then iPhoto and the Library must still be on your Mac.
Go to finder and slect 'Applications'. iPhoto must be in that folder. Open iPhoto. See what happens. Are all your pictures/events displayed?
If not, please reply and we will try to locate the iPhoto Library.

  • All e-mails in my mailboxes have been deleted.  All the mailboxes are still there but the content in them...GONE.  I tried the time machine

All e-mails in my mailboxes have disappeared.  The mailboxes are still there, but no content.  I think my behaviors were set to delete them after a month (i since tuned it off).  I tried to go to time machine and it has never been "on".  Can someone please help me retrieve ALL my e-mails that were in my mailboxes? Thank yoU!

It depends on your Mail Preferences Accounts Mailbox Behaviour settings.  If your settings for the Comcast mail account are somethikng like this you would find them in your Mail Trash folder and then you would simply move them back to the correct folders.  If you had not activated the Trash option for deleted messages and they are also no longer on the Comcast server, then they are probably erased from your system.  Using the Trash option gives you some breathing room in case you accidentally or mistakenly delete messages.
Look in your Mail folder in a Finder window.  Click on Home, open the Library folder and then open the Mail folder.  Would be nice if there’s something there to recover but I don’t think so.
