SMS memory

Hello,
Can anyone help me with the following question.
How using the SIM card memory instead of the phone memory for incoming and outgoing SMS messages.
Device: Nokia C1-01
Solved!
Go to Solution.

Not possible...??!!
With most phones, you can still set it, ... not?
Messages disappear (deleted) without me delete them.
Is there a way to retrieve deleted messages back or to ensure that future messages are also stored somewhere else, so I'm not lost for good when they disappear from the phone memory.

Are you sure you have not copied the contacts from SIM into the Phone memory ? To confirm.. Keep a not of any one no. on the SIM and then delete it from there. See if it still shows in the Contacts. If yes, then a copy is already in Phone memory. If it doesn't show then re-inter the contact again on the SIM and Factory reset the Phone. • N97 SMS Memory

    Hi!
My Nokia N97 failed yesterday so I had to hard reset it and than reinstall the operating software.  I am now re-programming all the settings on my phone, but for some reason, in SMS, I can not set the memory to E: Mass Memory, it will only stay on C: Phone Memory or F: Card, however I had a bunch of important SMSs on my phone on the E: Memory, and now I cant access them.  Any idea on how to solve this??  Do I need to reinstall the phone software AGAIN??  I press the E: Mass Memory link and the phone just acts as if nothing happened.
    Can someone please help me?
    Thanks

@hadimassa: Thanks very much for the tip. There are indeed a lot of active processes. Most of them seem to be there with nothing you can do about it. Some of them were due to applications I installed but did not think of being loaded (e.g. Truphone).
But none of these could explain the out of memory problems I was having. I really had only a few applications running that I could influence
I have fixed the problem, at least temporarily: I have removed the battery from the phone, reinserted the battery and the N97 feels as snappy as immediately after upgrading to the v20 firmware. And the memory issues have gone. I hope the memory issue does not come back. But it feels like some applications are not freeing memory and the N97 doesn't interfere.

This question relates to this old archived thread:

In System Profiler, my brand new ( >_> ) 512Mb PC133 RAM chip reads it as PC 100-322S... which is no big deal, but with the hardware test CD as described in the thread above (being more accurate), it says something like "PC-unknown 512 Mb". This gives me the willies a little bit.
I've read that my Quicksilver G4/733 will only take PC133 chips, so I know it's not otherwise... but with the "unknown" readout in Hardware Test, is it something I should worry about and return, or is everything hunky-dory - nothing to worry about ??? The chip works in the tower, though...
I bought this ram chip from SMS Memory Module Assembly, Inc. Thank you in advance for the advice ^^ !

You can tell the chip speed from the Hardware Test profile. A 100MHz bus has a 10ns cycle. A 133MHz bus will be 7.5ns. If the Hardware Test Profile lists timing for 7.5ns, then the memory is designed for a 133MHz. bus It may also have 10ns timing listed if is designed to work in both 100MHz and 133MHz busses. You will get maximum memory speed if all the memory chips are CL2 (222) at 7.5ns, but standard PC133 memory is only CL3 (322) at 7.5ns.
Make sure the memory passes the Extended Tests. If you want a more thorough test, use Control-L to make the tests loop, so you can let it run overnight.

  • Nokia N97 - faultiest phone ive ever had

Hi guys im new to the forum and its interesting to see just how many people are suffering with issues with their n97. How Nokia have managed to release a phone as buggy as this is unbelievable. I will never buy another Nokia, there are issues with EVERY software update, alarm doesnt work, keypad freezes, unlock/lock doesnt work, cant open SMS, memory always saying it is full. How is it possible to release such a bad phone? Why are they still not capable of fixing the problems?

    @markmacdonnel
Nokia are defently one of the best companys to follow up their phones. Samsung and SE does hardly make updates at all.
Around on different forums you will find people complaining about any phone on the market. Today I read a few posts about the desire freezing and rebooting and peeps wishing they had never bought it.
If you buy a HTC with WM for instance, you will likely feel that it's a xtremely heavy and have a lot of wierd bugs or are non userfriendly. - Giving some time on XDA dev. site, you will find ways to tweak and do whatever you like with it, but it needs some effort.
I have an Iphone my self, which works flawlessly, but I have friends who also have a lot of problems with theirs. - Freezes, reboots, and gpu burn to death.
What I'm saying is that there are faults and issues with every brand and every model.
Nokia sells a enormous amount of devices every year, from cheap basic phones to expensive N and E series devices. Apple have one phone to work with which the majority won't afford. Iphone is great, but Nokia is "bleep" great too.
Take the HTC HD2 which has extremely great hardware, unfortunately a lot of users have now gone almost a year with problems of sms's beeing stuck in the outbox... I've read a "few" comments about that for sure - It was far more expensive than the n97...
Don't misunderstand me, I know that the n97 has been a pain for a lot of users, and I do understand your frustration, but the point is, you find it everywhere... Dell computers, HP computers, gps's, phones, tv's.
Now, if you want to, I and many more here would like to help you with your issues, and perhaps get it to work like it has worked a few months!?
You say it has been working for a few months... Do you remember doing anything to it right before it started to misbehave? - Installing any 3rd party apps, deleteing anything, change settings etc?

    hello:
my inbox has reached the limit of 2100 sms. now whenever any sms comes into the inbox it displays the number of the contact instead of name of the contact. but when I switch sms memory from memory card to phone memory it again started to display name of the contact. wht is the actual problem and what is the solution.

  • N97 Mini Texting Issue

I just got a N97 Mini phone yesterday, and it's been working fine. Calling and receiving calls work, and receiving texts works. My network signal is as strong as ever. However, whenever I send text messages, my friends say that they never received any messages. I've sent about 20 messages and none of them has been received. I also saw a post that says that it might be linked to the SMS Memory Full warning. I did have that warning, so I fixed it and the blinking envelope is gone. But people still can't receive my texts, but I can still receive others' texts....
    Help???

Operator or Service Provider is one and the same.. Message center is one thru' which the messages are relayed. Contact the operator and ask the settings.. You may even ask them where to enter the details..
before that you may try this..
    Messaging-->Options-->Settings-->Text Message...
Message center in use-->SIM Message centre
    Message sent as-->Text
    Preferred Connection-->GSM
    Reply via same centre -->Yes
If this do not help, contact Operator..

  • Can't reinstall 6300 firmware

Hello, my phone is rebooting about every minute (blank screen and again normal). I went to Nokia service and they reinstalled the phone's firmware and evertyhing was allright, but i played with a large mount of sms with this phone and this problem came again. Recently I have bought nokia DKE-2 cable. I want to reinstall the phone's firmware alone (without the nokia service) but I can't - "update failed". I think this is because my phone is restarting every ~minute and nokia software updater can't reinstall normaly, but i know that nokia service can it do easily
My OS: Win XP Professional, SP 2. I tried with the newest PC suite, but i uninnstalled it because I had problems with connecting a cable. Then I downloaded only software updater, installed it and the driver(all that is needed). But in 5/6 Step i have message - that "Software update failed, try again".
Ah one more thing: it's written that phone must have set "General profile", but every my phone's restart the phone profile is setting to silent..
How can I easily reinstall the nokia's 6300 firmware?
    Thanx.

  • Frozen with Music

    Hey
i've been having a bunch of issues recently.
1)when im at the Music navigator and after hitting the Home button to return home, the icones on the home page would freeze in the middle as they move down-to-top motion, so that the phon would never respond!
2)if i pick up a waiting call, i cant switch it back to the first line; phone just freezes!
3)sometimes, the screen wont turn on, i keep pressing the power button but never works, so i have to reboot the phone!
    4) is there any way to expand the SMS memory? it's so little that i'm always asked to remove some messages to free some room.
any idea guys??? any help would be greatly appreciated

Have you tried restoring your iPhone? You do so by connecting it to your computer and through iTunes you hit the RESTORE button.
Take in mind, it does erase all the information and files on your iPhone and restores it back to the factory settings. So make sure to back up/sync your iPhone before you Restore it so that you don't lose any data.
Make sure your iTunes and your iPhone software version is up to date. iTunes 7.6.1 and iPhone version 1.1.4 are the latest ones.

  • Nokia 5800XM Messages Disappeared. Not Deleteable.

    I have a 2 month old Nokia 5800XM v20.
It's been working fine except for the occassional incoming call hang bug, etc.
I had about 600 messages in my inbox. They were saved on phone memory. One day, when i tried to access the inbox, it refused to let me, and kept returning to the main messaging screen. So i restarted the phone. Now Messaging works fine, but All the messages appear to have disappeared. Inbox,Sent,Drafts, everything. Which is fine, they are unimportant.
The thing is they were being saved to Phone Memory. And even though they appear to have gone, when i check Phone memory status, it still says 46mb in messaging in Phone Memory. But There are no messages to delete, and i don't want to to a hard reset. I Shifted the SMS memory to memory card now, but i need to free up that space because i have only 15mb of free space on my phone. Is there any way to manually access phone memory and delete those messages ?
Any help would be suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks a lot.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

As suggested, do a soft reset (*#7370#). This will not affect your messages in the memory card since the reset only wipes the phone's memory. When the phone starts up again, though, it won't see your messages in the memory card any more. You'll have to tell it again to use the memory card for message storage, at which point you'll find your messages again. But before doing that, don't forget to increase the number of saved messages in your sent items to more than 20. If you fail to do that then all but the last 20 will be deleted.
The above post is slightly misleading. It is not possible to store the first 'x' number of messages in the phone's memory and the rest on the memory card. They're either all on the memory card or all in the phone's memory.

  • How do you select multiple messages/conversations on SMS/MMS to forward or save to memory card on Samsung Stratosphere?

How do you select multiple messages/conversations on SMS/MMS to forward or save to memory card on Samsung Stratosphere?
My screen is cracked and I need to replace my phone and I don't see a way of selecting multiple messages or even conversations one at a time to forward them to email or to save them to a memory card.  I can delete thread but can't forward it or move it.  Is there a setting somewhere that will move the storage location for messages to the memory card instead of internal?
If not, any suggestions on backup apps?  I have heard of Txtract to back up SMS and MMS messages, and Titanium Backup to back up everything (SMS, MMS, apps, app data...).  Anyone have any experience with those, or other suggestions?
    Thanks!

  • E-1 restoring sms saved in memory card by backup f...

    Dear Sir,
yesterday at 4 pm i put my phone on silent mode and when i again had a look at it at 6 pm all my sms stored in Inbox, sent items, folders and drafts were missing.
they were all stored in memory card and NOT n phone memory.
memory card is working fine, infact all other files, pictures, music etc is there, just sms/emails are missing.
i tried restoring with backup files, now everythng can be restored but not my sms saved in the memory card.
i had a closer look and found, when i do the backup, i do it for "user files from memory card" but when i restore it, memory card data isnt restored.
please tell me the way to restore the memory card data
    its really very important sir
    Regards,
    Gaurav daga

    Hi Gaurav,
Have you already solved this? I am also facing the same problem and am looking for a solution! If you have already solved this, I'd appreciate if you can post it here. Thanks.
However, my phone is not the E series though, it is the N97 mini.
My messages stored in the memory card were gone after my battery went flat and when I restarted the phone, messages were stored in the phone memory. I've tried changing the storage location back to memory card but the messages are still lost! Like you, my messages are very important! I am also desperately looking for a solution to restore my messages.

  • Lost SMS from N95 which were stored on memory card...

    Hi,
I have lost SMS from N95. I had deleted the files from the "private" folder from the memory card. When I restarted the mobile all the SMS were lost. I have copied the deleted files back to the "Private" folder and restarted the mobile and still the SMS are not seen.
Please advise the way to get back the SMS...
    Thanks in advance.

the only files found by the music player are a selection of very small (~20KB) audio clips stored on the phone memory!
when I received the phone, I backed up my N70 and transferred all the information onto the N95 using PC suite. would this have anything to do with the music player not functioning properly?
having searched this forum, it seems a few other users have had similar problems, which appear to have been fixed when they changed the file format of the audio, or put it in a different directory. I have tried the fixes mentioned in these threads but still the music player doesn't recognise anything...

  • SMS Deleted NOT LOW on Memory -- plus other problems. HELP!

Ive only had my Curve 8900 for about a year, and I know thats about a decade in techie years but still...I'm incredibly frustrated with the issues I've been having!
Most pressing of these issues is that my phone keeps deleting my SMS even though my memory is NOT low! I've read tons of posts about the same issue but its always resolved by freeing up some memory.
    My current memory status:
    File Free: 90317537
Thus I have 90.31 MB free...yes?  Shouldnt that be enough?
Apparently not. I have nothing stored on my blackberry, everything is on the Media Card (4GB) and I only have a couple applications (MSN, Facebook, GTalk) and yet my SMS get deleted regularly unless they are saved on my SIM card and also notifications on facebook are often deleted (those dont matter too much to me but I believe it is resulting from the same thing that is deleting my SMS)
Further, my call logs ARENT being deleted. So I dont think its the same memory problem everyone else seems to have.
I will be most most most grateful to anyone who can help me out here or at least point me in the right direction.
Im seriously considering shelling out for an iphone even though ive only had my blackberry for a year because I do rely heavily on smartphones and losing SMS is really driving me crazy. Sometimes I cant even read a newly received SMS before its deleted! By the time i pick up my phone its gone...
    Please help!
Ive had other problems as well, not to ramble on but in case they are related:
I will be chatting on bbm for example and it will just exit out of the conversation or the application entirely.
Oftentimes it slows down so much that the minute hand or whatever stays and everything freezes until i do a battery pull (which i hate doing but have to at least once a day) This often happens when Im using the browser...
Sometimes when I am getting a call the minute hand appears again and I cant answer
Oftentimes when this happens it says that I am receiving a call from an unknown number, but when they call back it turns out its a number i have saved...weird...
Sometimes I cannot dial or call (frustrating as hell when i need to make a call urgently!) I have to again do a battery pull to fix the issue.
Ive had other issues here and there but nothing really worth mentioning after this long rant so I'll just leave it at that!!
Thanks to whoever has had the patience to read all this and I really do hope I can get some help before I release my frustrations on this piece of junk and end up having to spend tons of money on another brick...

I suggest you follow this procedure:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Make sure that if, when you are making the backup (step 1 in the procedure), you say NO to any prompt to update your device OS at that point...you need to get a clean manual backup first so that you have it available just in case anything goes wrong. You will not be using DTM to do the update -- rather, you will be using the AppLoader included with the device OS package (as per step 2 in the instructions).
Also, make sure you have a manual inventory of all of your non-AppWorld 3rd party apps, including the source you obtained them from as well as any activation keys. You will want to re-install those fresh on the new OS rather than attempt to migrate them as part of the update.
