SMS messaging chat feature

I have always been a low end nokia user eying on the better phones but never owning one. I have gone through low end phones like the 3310, 3210, 1108, 1100, and 1600. One thing loved about these phones was the chat feature that was built in for messaging. This feature I used a great deal as it was easy see the past few massages sent by me and my texting partner all on one screen.
I have noticed however as the phones has gotten better and newer technologies were introduced this feature was no longer a staple on these new phones. I am currently using the nokia 3500 classic and would love to obtain an application or addon to allow my phone to use a similar chat interface. I have done some research that have lead me to applications such as Nokia conversation or SMS chat but these applications are not available for my s40 3500 classic.
I would like any advice or support that could be given to me on this matter.

If your phone does not have it and there is no java solution available then perhaps the only way forward is to change the phone ?
It seems the latest Series 40 phone, X3, is having this feature. /discussions/board/message?board.id=phones&message.id=62917&query.id=102377#M62917

  • SMS messages delayed in Group Chat

I bought a new iPhone 5s 2 months ago and have since often had issues receiving SMS messages on time in a Group Chat.  4 of us in the chat have iPhones, 1 person has an Android, but it was never an issue before buying the 5s.  It also happens when I have a perfect signal.  Hours later, I will get a whole slew of messages that were sent earlier in the day, so they are somehow getting stuck and it keeps happening.  This has not been an issue for other iPhone users in the Group Chat.  Does anyone know what might be causing this and how it can be fixed?
    Thanks

I'm sorry but I already replied to her to "contact her carrier".Did you even read my first line?
If you have NOT something NEW to say ,then do NOT repeat what I just said.I am a new member here, you should embrace new members in this community.
Also I have added possible solutions to her problem.
"This only works if the carrier makes those screens accessible, not all carriers do.  In the US they are not accessible, except maybe on an unlocked device."
Did she mention where she lives? Did she mention if she got an unlocked device? No. So how you know?
My answer completed every possible question.FIY it is accessible on an unlocked iPhone ,I am disappointed that you didn't know this.
    Thank you.

  • Is the sms messaging feature available to windows ...

I was going to buy some credit in order to call or text a friend with a cell phone (when I do NOT have a cell phone) .... However, I am thinking that the sms messaging feature may only be available to windows 8 users, whereas I use windows xp (and have no desire or intention to upgrade). I do not want to purchase credit that I will not be able to use. I would appreciate if anyone could provide clarification about this, one way or the other. Thank you!

I downloaded 8.1 today on my iPad and iPhone.  I attempted to use the Markup feature but was unable to locate it on those devices.  Any suggestions on how to access this in iOS?

There is no app that will do this.

I doubt I've had over 5 spam texts since I've had a cell phone and I reported all of them. How many are you getting?

  • Can anyone suggest an app to download for SMS messaging for iphone 3G as the message application factory installed is pretty useless and doesnt keep your sent messages in a sent folder

Can anyone suggest an app to download for SMS messaging for iphone 3G as the message application factory installed is pretty useless and doesnt keep your sent messages in a sent folde and has no folders unlike most messaging features on other phones.
    Many thanks

Why do you need a Sent folder?  iOS's Messaging interface lays each conversation out like a chat or IM.  Personally, I find that much more convenient.

  • Address Book & SMS Messaging

    Hello,
To start things right here's my setup:
    PowerMac, Dual G5 (2GHz), 3gb's RAM, 250gb HDD, Mac OS X version 10.4.9 (Build 8P135).
    Address Book version 4.0.4 (485.1).
Motorola RAZR V3 Phone (recently purchased on 2/12/07), Cingular Wireless, bluetooth enabled/functioning.
I have "Adium" Chat installed (version 1.0.1, dated 2/16/07).
I completely removed Skype (can't recall version).
NOTE: I've already successfully paired this phone with my computer -- it syncs up beautifully with the Address Book & iCal.
Here's what I'd like to do: send SMS Messages from my Address Book through my mobile phone.
When I try to do so, after following the instructions in the Address Book "Help" viewer, I only see greyed out "SMS Message" and/or "Dial With Cell Phone" options after I choose someone's mobile phone.
I'd really like to use this feature. It does come in handy.
Thinking that Skype had brought my Mac to this end, I removed it entirely from my system (using Spotlight to locate any file remotely connected to it). I rarely used the application anyway.
Does anyone use "SMS Messaging" through their Address Book (via their mobile phone)?
Does anyone know how to fix this so that I can use this wonderfully intriguing feature of the Mac OS & Address Book?
    Thanks!
    -Jason

With Bluetooth on, if you look at Address Book's window you should see a bluetooth icon on the top bar, to the right of the drop-down menu icon that looks like a wee gear wheel. This bluetooth icon needs to be blue for SMS messaging. If it is grey, click it and see if anything interesting happens.

  • Nokia 5310 Is it possible to send a sms message fr...

    Hi Guys
I am using a Nokia 5310 and was wondering if it was possible to send a sms message from my phone to my computer via Bluetooth? I can't seem to find an option to do this and don't know whether I am missing it or if it's just not possible.
Any help or advice would be great.
    Thanks Claire xxx

You can't send an SMS. However, if the phone (I don't know the 5310) has a note-taking application where you can create text notes/memos, the application might have an option to send the note/memo over Bluetooth. You might also be able to find some Java application to send text messages (still not SMS, technically) over Bluetooth, if the phone doesn't have such a feature built-in.

  • How Can I Combine SMS Messages from Previous Backups?

I have a Blackberry 8900, and I recently switched from the Storm.  I made incremental weekly backups, however didn't notice my text messages were being deleted every 30 days and I need to restore/recreate them all on my phone for searching.  How can I do this?  I have used Dashwire in the past however it does not support Blackberry.  If I used the advanced feature in Desktop Manager, it replaces existing SMS messages.  Is it possible to "Save" messages without overwriting them, or can I use Windows to access the file like an Excel file?  Thanks in advance!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Unfortunately using the Backup and Restore feature will just overwrite the databases on the BlackBerry with the information in the backup file. It does not append to the data already on there.
There is software called ABC Amber BlackBerry Converter that can convert them from the backup file into a format that you can manipulate on your computer

  • Delayed sending of SMS message not working

My Curve has an option to delay the sending of SMS messages found by clicking the menu key in a new SMS message and "OPTIONS" it has an option for "delivery period" with choices of "immediate, 15 mins, 30 mins, and so on" but when I select a delay, it sends the message as soon as I hit send? Does anyone know how to work this feature? I can't find anything about it in the manual.....
    Thanks
    Cas

That's unfortunate. However, without more information, there's probably not going to be much anyone here can suggest. Try contacting your carrier and making sure your account is properly provisioned.

  • No way to mark sms messages as 'unread'?

    Hi everyone,
I just received my first ever iphone as an upgrade 2 days ago and am so shocked that you can't mark sms messages as unread. Surely this is a crucial feature that allows you to come back to messages you don't want to reply to straight away but don't want to forget about?
Also, within bookmarks, is it not possible to delete the factory bookmarks and just keep your umported bookmarks at the top? You pretty much can't move them around!
Thanks for all of your help

Thank you for replying, but unfortunately your response if not related to my problem:
I am aware that SMS message remain available until I decide to delete them - my query is that I am wondering if there is an option to mark a message or thread as 'unread'.
As for bookmarks, I am aware how to drag them, but my query was how to delete the Apple bookmark folders. Also, thank you for pointing out the User Guide - I am aware of how to operate my iPhone to this level thank you very much!

  • Chat feature for Microsoft Exchange 2013

    Hi Good day,
is there any way to have a simple chat feature service for exchange 2013? im looking for some solutions but only Exchange 2000 has this common feature. I just need to have a simple chat service for our internal and branch offices

    Hi,
There is no feature in Exchange server 2013 to meet your requirement. But we can use Microsoft Lync to chat with your domain environment. Microsoft Lync is an enterprise-ready unified communications platform.
By integrating Lync Server and Exchange Server, we can also chat directly in OWA. For more information about it, we can refer to:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/lync/lync-server-2013-features-video-conferencing-and-instant-messaging-FX103789592.aspx
If you don’t want to deploy a Lync server in your environment, we can also use
Skype with a Microsoft account or Skype account to chat with others.
    Thanks,

  • Mass Delete SMS Messages in iOS4

I am a sysadmin and I get TONS of SMS messages and I need to purge them on a regular basis to keep sane.
In the past, I had been using PhoneView to mass delete SMS messages from my iPhone, but Apple has apparently changed how the SMS messages are managed and PhoneView has permanently discontinued this functionality.
Is anyone aware of any products or methods for mass deleting SMS messages in iOS4?

Same problem here. I have over 1000 msgs that need deleting. Been waiting years for this "obvious" feature. I can't believe they didn't fix this in iOS4. So, love to hear if there's an app for that.

  • Are There Any Plans To Add An Option To Change The Viewing of SMS Messages?

I will be getting an iPhone 4 at Christmas but the one thing I don't like about them is the "bubble" viewing of texts. I was wondering if Apple were planning to add a different option in the way SMS messages are displayed in a future software update?
It would be great (in my opinion) if they added the option to view in a chronological list. In which all SMS messages from all contacts are displayed in one list with the time, date, and which contact/number the message was received from. Then a separate list of the same description for sent SMS messages to other contacts or numbers.

Right so I'll rephrase the question, what would the community think to this feature being added?
I don't care one way or the other. I don't text. If I want to communicate with someone using my phone, I'll call them.

  • How can I see timestamps on SMS messages?

on my old blackberry and on my new Android SMS messages are time stamped so I can tell what time they were received. how can I turn this feature on on my husband's iPhone?

It shows it in blocks between significant elapsed amounts of time in the message thread, but if it is the last message sent/received in a thread you can view the time it was sent / received in the inbox. Other than that there is no option

  • Is there a an app that will filter/block unwanted sms messages?

Hi i hope i have put this in the right section but this is my first post so be gentle if i haven't !
i recently had a nokia n97 (i know wash my mouth out with soap for saying it !) now the phone was cr*p very slow and the charger went up in smoke after 10 days so it went back and i got an i-phone which i should have done in the first place as it is 100% better!
the only thing that was good for the n97 was there was an app that would filter unwanted sms messages
basically you had a "black list " of phone no's or you set it to only accept from contacts list then the app just filtered the sms messages from anywhere else
i cant find anything even remotly similar for the iphone does anyone know of one?

Well in the US on AT&T you can. AT&T has a website (mymessages.wireless.att.com), here you get a limited ability to block SMS. This feature is not highly publicized for obvious reasons. Contact your carrier and see if they have a similar service, many do, they just to publicize such.
