SMS or Email Fowarding

I can not believe that such a simple but useful feature such as forwarding an SMS Message is not available on the iPhone. This feature has been in existence on just about all other mobile phones for years now and given that we cant Cut & Paste on the iPhone ... it would be INVALUABLE
Furthermore the ability to chose whether you want to forward an Email as an SMS Message and vice versa has been available on Windows mobile for at least 2-3 years. Did you guys not get a hold of one and examine its features .. Geez I could have lent you mine
The iPhone is a great product and probably the most advance mobile device I have ever used ..but sometimes I scratch my head absolutely dumbfounded and say to myself ... " Huh ? ...It cant do that...***? "
Don't get me started on MMS ... or the lack of it on iPhones
Please fix it ... C'mon Jobs I know you can.

C'mon man, posts just like this one appear here every 20 minutes or so. It was like that for over a year now, shouldn't be all that surprising. Apple can fix it but they simply not going to, it's not how they see the future of a mobile phone (or they would have done that long, long time ago). Oh, and I'll say this time, This is a user to user forum, Apple pretends they don't even look at it, I just hate to see you waste your time, get over it.

Sms-to-email problem with plugin

We have configured email-to-sms and it works good, but sms-to-email is giving us headache. This is the plugin error that we get:
plugin_thread(1644): Returned from plugin; plugin returned 69 (SUBMIT_SM or SUBMIT_MULTI command failed (ESME_RSUBMITFAIL)); errmsg="Zero length SMS message; cannot extract addressing information"
I would appreciate any help.

Can you point to the part of the doc where it says that?
If we send a SMS in wrong format like:
"Hello World!"
we get plugin error:
"Zero length SMS message; cannot extract addressing information"
but as soon as we send it in right format:
"local-part@domain (subject) body text"
smpp_gateway_server process crashes without any error repoort. We tried sending SMS in us-ascii and utf-8 but the results are the same.

Best app for send sms via email?

Anyone got any idea what the best app is to download to send sms via email?
I downloaded text-free yesterday, but doesnt work and the message keeps bouncing back to my email in box as a failed mail delivery!!
I am in the UK in case that makes a difference!!

If you want to text people for free, i highly recommened AIM application. Its an IM app built in with an feature that allows you to text anyone on your contacts for free. Just let them know that its you texting them the first time.

The phone works fine with the headphones plugged in.
I have tried all the usual solutions, inserted and removed the headset (at least 50 times)

Nothing seems to work. I have searched on this and it seems to be a well know issue but there doesnt seem to be any firm solutions that i can find to fix the problem

If no change after inserting and removing the headset at least 50 times, powering the iPhone off and on, an iPhone reset, and restoring the iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from the backup, the iPhone has a hardware problem.
Make an appointment at an Apple Store if there is one nearby.

N73 - How to forward SMS to Email?

Would appreciate any help here.
Simply how to forward an sms to an email address - cant seem to figure this out, but can do it easily with my old Nokia simply by selecting "send sms to email".

I think if you put the email address in the To: box it'll work.

This feature isn't available as yet on BB10. Perhaps the future releases will have this feature.
May be there are some apps to do this function, you can always check them out.

E51 Bug [low] - No vibra on incoming SMS or email

Severity: low
Software: 200.34.36 / 24-04-2008 / RM-244
After some time of operation, the vibra does not go on incoming SMS and emails any more. Power cycling the phone solves the problem.

Possible suggestion would be it may be the battery rather than the phone. Bought a spare Nokia battery at the same time as my phone, one vibrates the other doesn't. Then again, they're made in China where quality doesn't count. If I ever buy a Nokia with made in China on the box is the day it goes back.

Curve 8300 - Can't send SMS messages - Email set up?

Hi, my dad has an old Blackberry curve 8300 that was a work phone, it is unlocked and can make and receive calls, and receive sms messages, however I cannot get it to send sms messages.
Is this because he never set up an email address with the Blackberry?
It won't let me enter a personal email address, Is this because it was his work phone and is there any way to change this?

As it was Work Phone it might have some IT policy enabled on it as a result you may not be able to use those feature .
SMS is Emails service are both different , One comes under Voice level and another under Data Level Services .In order to enjoy Email services on legacy BlackBerry devices we need BlackBerry Data Plan . When we activate those Data Plan our Carrier push those Service Books to our Device and it will allow us to add any email account on our Blackberry Smartphones. But as your Device is a Work Phone so it may not allow you to add any BIS plan unless those IT policies are removed from that particular devices .You can refer to this Knowledge base to remove an IT policy but first do a backup of your device :
KB31291 : How to reset a BlackBerry smartphone to factory settings using BlackBerry Desktop Software
KB18998 : How to reset the BlackBerry smartphone to factory defaults
But mind it sometime it is very difficult to remove an IT policy from such devices in which those Policies are deeply coded , but you should try to see if that help.

SMS Messaging Email Destination

Noticed I am receiving some SMS text messages as emails as well. Currently they are coming to [email protected] I would like to change that to [email protected] Is there a user setting in the Verizon Wireless web client that will allow me to change the email destination address? Could be related to Vtext.

1. Navigating to the link you provided (http://bit.ly/MFfK6S) takes me to a VZW.COM page. None of the options (e.g. “preferences”) are hyperlinked. The only nav option from that page is “Register Today” (“and start taking advantage of these free and easy to use features.”). Thing is, I’m already registered…and the link takes me to the Verizon Wireless login page. When I’m logged in on the same browser session, I still get the “Register Today” link.
2. My question actually did not go to creating a nickname at vzwpix.com. Rather, I am receiving actual emails, like the goofy spam item that came in today (enclosed). These are addressed to an actual email address although they appear to be in a message category. What I am trying to figure out is where at VZW these messages are originating so I can change the destination from << email addresses removed >>

[iphone] sms or email from app

does the iphone support sending sms or email messages from the SDK? I can't find it in the docs. I need to also pre-populate the message but let the user pick the contact.
From what I gather by googling, the email piece might be possible, but the SMS doesn't let you pre-populate. But I'm not sure...
any help/links would be appreciated.

If you have iPhone update 1.1.1 installed you can go to Settings -> Sounds and change the sound for incoming text messages.
There isn't a way to change it for incoming email. You may want to suggest that by going to:

Cant split out sms from email

Hi all
I have a Pearl 8100 V4.2.0.67 platform 2.2.0.39 and i am having trouble splitting out my sms messages from my email folder.
I have read other threads in this forum however I dont have the ability under options/general options to separate sms from email.
can anyone help??

You will need to upgrade to OS 4.2.x or 4.5 for that function.

Subject: Integrating SMS and Email Notifications

Hi All,
I'm trying to integrate our email notification system with some sort of SMS messaging system and I've a couple of questions
1. Is it free to send the SMS from my java application...
2. If I'm using smslib and GSM modem......who pay's for the SMS message here in the United States.....I know in Ireland its only the receiver who pay's but here it's both the sender and receiver pay when it's mobile to mobile
3. This will be my first time doing anything like this, so and advice, code snippets or pointer would be really appreciated

SMS email gateways are usually free to send to, but be aware that they may shut you off if you spam users.
As for the recipient, I think the SMS goes against the recipient's allowed number of messages in his calling plan, but that really depends on the nature of the agreement between the recipient and the telco. If it goes over the allowed number of messages for the recipient, then he will be charged whatever rate is in the agreement.

Wishlist - tighter contact, calendar, sms and email integration

Here are three things that would make me a very happy 3Gs user:
o From contacts, extra button at bottom (next to "Text Message", "Share Contact" and "Add to Favorites") that says "Create Event." This would jump you to the new calendar event page with the Title and Location already filled in.
o From Calendar, if an event was created from the contacts, or the title matches a contact record, going to the event record will show a new button at the bottom "Find Contact" or "View Contact" or something that will bring you back to the contact record. This will allow us to use the address mapping feature and make calls, texts, etc.
o Somehow, from within the SMS app, allow us to "View Contact" or "Make Phonecall" so that you can switch to a call if the text message convo gets lengthy and warrants a call. Perhaps also "Send email" if the record has an email address.
Bringing these three communication features (and maybe email too -- add another bullet point above for enter/exit integration with email) closer together will make this phone OS stand out. As it is there is pretty tight integration. Increasing that integration would be great.

Your wish of being able to call or go to a contact from the SMS window is already there. In order to see it, you need to tap the name of the person at the top of the SMS window. This causes the SMS window to scroll to the top and voila, there's the buttons you're asking for.
As for the create event and calendar thing, I'm not sure how it would fill out the Title of the event when you click on it from a contact. But it's certainly a nice thing if you need to add a person to an event quickly.
