hello , i bought skyoe number and i recieved the number , but the problem is i dont know why i can't get sms's on it ,when i call to the number i recieve call in skype , but when i send sms i can't recieved it on skype , i dont know what is the problem

A Skype Number can not receive reply SMS messages. While you may send SMS messages from Skype, and have your mobile number or your Skype Number shown as your caller ID, reply SMS messages will be received by your mobile device. More details about this appear here in these FAQ articles:

Is there any way to receive SMS on a Skype number?

I just purchased a Skype number today and will be using Skype via the Skype app on my iPhone. I've set up voicemail and have already testing calling out to a regular number from my Skype app/number and having someone call in to my Skype number. It works great but the issue is with SMS texting.
I realize that although I have the $2.99 plan for unlimited US/Canada calling that it does not include SMS text messaging. I realized I need Skype credit for that so just purchased $10 of Skype credit. I see that it costs 11.2 cents to send an SMS text to a US based phone number. Here is the issue. If I read correctly you can only send an SMS text from a Skype number and there's no way you can receive a SMS text at a Skype number. Is this true? Since most of my communication is via SMS this means that Skype would be of very little use to me.
Is there any way you can have Skype forward incoming SMS texts to your regular cell phone number? Although this isn't my preference I realize people will try to send SMS texts to my Skype number. I don't want to forward voice calls to my cell # but if I'm able to forward SMS texts from my Skype number when they come in to my regular cell phone # this would solve that problem.

I would recommend testing the SMS reply forwarding to your mobile number. Depending upon the results and if this works for you, you could then contact Skype Customer Service to cancel and request a refund.
In other words, SMS will be received via your mobile number, not via your Skype Number.

Receiving SMS in Skype Number

I want to be able to receive confirmation sms for various services using Skype Number.
Tried sending one from my mobile to my Skype Number to test and it doesn't seem to work. Am I missing something?

Sms to jordan with skype number

I just subscribed to Skype phone number and when I call myself in Jordan, the new number shows on, But when I send sms from my phone to skype number or from skype to my phone, the message doesn't receive and my skype credit decreases, which means I'm paying for nothing.
Can some one help me fix my issue.

Skype number is a landline and I need it to look l...

I normally live in the United States. I'm studying abroad for a semester in Australia. And instead of carrying two phones I thought it would be a good idea to keep one phone and just get an australian phone number, buy minutes and texts and just do that from my current phone (using phone data through ATT). I ran into a bit of a problem when I tried to open a checking account at a commonwealth bank. They need an australian cell/mobile number to send me texts to do online banking.. and that my australian skype number is a landline number and it won't work in there system even though I'm supposed to be able to receive texts. Can I change my number for a mobile phone style number? Do I have any other options?

How right you are - Skype Numbers are only fixed-line numbers, and neither can a Skype Number receive SMS (text) messages. I do not know any other options for you; if I were overseas for only a semester, and needed to have a local banking account, I would ask the banking institution if they require a full-featured mobile number, or if a pre-paid number and plan would be acceptable. While I cannot think of any particular reason a "burn phone" would not be acceptable, I also know nothing about the Australian banking system security requirements. I appreciate my thoughts here would mean you would be carrying two phones ... I hope you have also checked into your AT&T plan for roaming charges ...

Support for Skype Number Calling ID Australia

Hi there
So I was wondering if there will be any support for skype number calling id in the future in australia. It is quite frustrating not having any support for ksype calling id in australia. Was wondering when support will become availible. I'm sure many of you are also feeling my pain. You pay enough for the number so you should be able to have the number as the out going caller id.

When will we be able to use the Skype supplied number for CID (Caller ID) in Australia?
I've been trying to get a straight answer for this for over 3 years. The closest I had was that the system can only verify the owner of a number by sending an SMS to it. Well, if Skype supplies the number in the first place they already have me validated!
Given that a mobile number can be used in Australia already why can't the Skype number be put into place?
Can a moderator or support staff please comment here?

Bought Skype Number, but goes to someone else?

I just got assigned a skype number, and I sent an SMS to it to verify it was working. Instead of receiving it somewhere in my Skype account, someone responds asking who I am.
Apparently Skype sold me a phone number that's in use by someone else already? What the hell, and how do I resolve this?

Skype number help please!

Hello!Need an advise.Can't find answers to several questions.
If I get a Skype number:
1. Can I receive text messages if sent to Skype number?
2. How many seconds it takes to connect calls (very important to know)
3. Can the number be put on hold if not required and be saved for me to use in future?

1. No incoming SMS is not supported.2. For me it's been 1-3 seconds and that is with most of my calls being forwarded through another service as well (2 forwards). It's been like that for the over 8 years I've used the number. Other people have mentioned longer durations to the point when people hangup (like 6 seconds or so). Some claim nothing resolves that problem, others claim it's solved by having a computer connected 24x7 to a stable connection vs. going through a mobile device. Skype provide no ringing adjustment other than time delays (1, 2 seconds, etc.) which would increase the duration. My configuration is on 24x7 and some of my computers on the wired/wireless network respond faster than others on the same Internet connection.3. The number is essentially leased for a duration (3, 6, 12 months) and is enabled for that long. So the usage can't be placed on hold. Choosing a shorter duration and canceling it when not needed would be best. After expiration the number itself would still be attached to you account and reserved for 90 days. So that is one method of hold. Beyond 90 days it's made available to others.

This depends on where your Online Number is located, as not all Online Numbers can be used for Caller ID. From my own 4 Online Numbers, I can use the numbers in the USA and UK as Caller ID, but not those from Australia or Mexico. Local/national regulations or limitations from Skype's partners providing those Online Numbers may be to blame, if your Online Number(s) can't be used as Caller ID.
To see if you can use that number as Caller ID, log into your Skype account here on the Skype web site (click on the "Account" link at the top of this page). You should be able to go in and change your Caller ID settings once you get in. If your Online Number is eligible for use as Caller ID, you should see it as an option (or maybe the only option) when you get in there. If it can't be used, then your only option would be to use the two-step SMS verification process and set a mobile number as your Caller ID when calling telephones from Skype.

I'm wondering whether you are referring to transferring your subscription, or forwarding a number ... so here are two different answers:
Skype subscriptions are active for specific terms or lengths of time. If you no longer need the New Jersey number, cancel the subscription and start a new Skype Number for New York. Skype does not permit transfers of anything, be it credit, subscriptions, or call features from one account to another. Splitting a subscription by changing a number is not possible, either.

UK Skype Number on iPhone 5s

Hi,
I am doing this for the first time. I am currently travelling alot and as such need to be contactable on a central number. I would like that central number to be a UK number from skype where people from the US, UK and the Middle East can call me.
However in addition I was wondering, since I have the skype application on my iphone 5s, if there was a way that when someone calls me from the US, UK or the Middle East on the Skype UK number, if I can make it so that the number ports the call to my local number of the country I am in?
For example, I am in the North of India at the moment. And say I have obtained a UK skype number. Someone from the Middle East calls me on the UK skype number and diverts to my India mobile number. However I dont want the caller to know that I am in India or that the call was diverted to my India number. I want the caller to still think he/she is calling a UK number. This would be the ideal scenario.
However, I think what does happen and am not sure . . . in the same above scenario . . . when the person calls the UK skype number, it rings on my iphone but it rings on the skype application which means while the person thinks they are still calling the UK number, I am limited to always being around WIFI in order to accept the call. If I am out and about with no WIFI, I cannot get the call. What happens to the call then - does it go into some sort of voice mail where once I am within WIFI range I can return the persons call back?
The other question I have - what happens when I call the person from the skype application. Is there a way that I can call overseas and have them only see the UK skype number that I have obtained from skype?
Any advise on what is the best method for me to follow so that people can reach me on one central number that is a UK based number and they think they are calling a UK number no matter where in the world I am. AND when I call them all they see on their end is the same UK number. And of course I would love for the solution to be economic in terms of cost and not to technical to use as I am not technical - I prefer the phone rings and I pick or I pick the phone and I call kind of easy process . And of course it should be compatible for my iphone 5s

iOS 7 will offer call blacklisting, which in reality is not true call blocking. It allows a call to connect, compares the caller ID information with a database of blacklisted numbers, and if a match is there, it hangs up the call without ever riniging.
The feature is part of iOS 7, not specific to the iPhone 5s at all.

How to switch Skype number from 3-month plan to an...

A friend initially subscribed to 3-months Skype number plan. Now she would like to change to 1-year subscription. However, there does not seem to be any option to do this. The initial 3 months just passed and an automatic charge appeared on her payment card. There does not seem to be any "modify" subscription option (not even a "cancel" subscription option). There is no Skype/Microsoft support readily available. This is very bad experience for her and it seems to be rather common issue. I am actually surprised by this and have expected more from Skype/Microsoft. Any ideas about how to change the subscription?

As strange as this sounds, the short-term Skype Number contract needs to be cancelled. When the subscription ends, the Skype Number is held in reserve for a period of 90 days, during which timeframe the number can be renewed for an annual term.
If all else fails, please contact Skype customer service for further assistance. I would report to Customer Service that the renewal e-mails were not received - after checking that the account's registered e-mail address is correct! You would not believe the number of enquiries I read where a Skype account's registered e-mail address has fallen into disuse, not updated, and therefore resulting in no communications received from Skype.
