SMS Text Options

When trying to change the Number of Previous Items, upon hitting the Back button and selecting Save, I get a message "Invalid Service Center specified."  There is no entry in the Service Center field.  Should there be?  How do I resolve this issue?

  • Blackberry 8310 not showing reply or send in sms text options menu

I have a blackberry 8310. iam able to recieve sms text messages but when i click to on options, there is no "reply" option in the menu for me to be able to reply to the text. The chip works fine in other phones so that tells me something in the phone is not set right. There is no option for me to even compose and fresh sms text message. Please help?

    Here ya' go:
    1. Get a good backup of your device: BB device backup (I keep all my backups in a separate folder created for that purpose so they are always in one place and easy to find.)
    2. Download the most recent version of device software for your carrier: Downloading BB device software
    3. Reinstall the device software: Clean reload of device software
    4. Pull the battery out with the device ON. Wait about a minute and put the battery back in. Let the BB completely restart.
    5. Once you have the device OS successfully installed you will then need to reinstall any 3rd party apps you currently have on your device: Install applications using the app loader tool
    6. Complete another battery pull routine after each 3rd party app installation to reclaim memory and refresh your BB.
Let us know how it goes.

  • "Conversation" View in SMS Text Messages

I am unable to change the settings in SMS text options to 'conversation' view. I followed the instructions on this help page but I didn't even havesome of the buttons that were mentioned. My other BB's (9300, Bold 9000) defaulted to conversation view. This is making me crazy!! Each new text has a new, seperate window. ALSO--does anyone know how to download music from your PC to your BB? My PC won't even register that I have a device plugged in. W_T_H!!!

While you can have SMS (and MMS) messages NOT listed in the Messages folder, the only way to see only SMS messages in the Messages folder is to run a search.  You can save searches and assign an [Alt] key combination to execute the search, and as far as I know, ALL BlackBerries come with [Alt]S set as a Saved Search that will display only SMS messages.
You can read more about using Saved Searches here:

  • SMS Text not in Options?

Hi, I have searched the forum in regards to the pop up saying my SIM Card is full delete messages etc., and I do know that I have gone back to Options (after reading it here) and said NO to saving messages on it.  I have also removed my battery while phone was on, but am still receiving message.  Now when I go to Options, nowhere in there (and all files are as "show all") is there anything in regards to SMS text messages.  I do have a folder named SMS but it is empty?
All went squirrely after I did an update on OS 6, not an upgrade, just an update that was offered.  Icons have moved around that I'm not able to move, even when following directions again, from this site.
Wondering if I should restore settings, I believe it's called, and if I were to do so, what exactly that would effect? Or if anyone has other suggestions it would be most appreciated.
    My thanks,
    Donna

    Hi
I suppose the update was direct to the BB? Whilst these do work most of the time there is scope for all kinds of things to occure.
I do not know if what you describe is a feature of OS 6 or not but there is nothing to prevent you reverting to to OS 5 and this is how to go about it
This what I did to completely wipe my BB. I wrote this before starting and printed it off.
If your device is functioning, perform a backup now if you haven't already done so saving the file to a place and in a name that you can easily locate on computer.
I then uninstalled DTM and then deleted all other references to BB/Rim in Windows Explorer thus removing the OS for the BB from the computer in order to ensure that the version I would reinstall would be a brand new downloaded version.
Get the latest Desk Top Software (DTS)
    http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/?CPID=OTC-DSKTPSW&cp=OTC-DSKTPSW
and install it on the computer.
Get the correct latest version of the OS
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    and save it to computer.
To erase all the data on your BlackBerry device, complete the following steps.
    1) Download JL_Cmder from http://www.4shared.com/get/oqP9V-2Q/JL_Cmder_v19.html
    2) Install JL_Cmder to computer.
    3) Double check you have already backed-up the BB. If you DO NOT, you will lose ALL data.
    4) Make sure the DTS is closed and plug in the BB to computer via USB
    5) Go to the JL_Cmder on your computer and double click it to start. Now,this may take a few tries to connect, so keep trying until it does.
    6) On the first screen, Press any key to continue.
    7) Now, if your device uses a password, enter it now. If not, press "N"
    8) Press 4 to initiate the WIPE
    9) Press "Y" to continue
    10) Now type "blackberry" to continue
    11) On the BB you will see a white screen with a'507' Error. Don't worry, this is what you want! You are now ready to install the OS.
Launch the new Desk Top Software on the computer
1). On the home screen of the BlackBerry® Desktop Software, click Device > Update my device.
2). Click View Other Versions. Click the version of the new OS you previously downloaded.
3). Click Install. The DTM will install the OS and then provide you with a list of applications to install. If you have had difficulties with an app, do not install it.
Do not disconnect the device until the whole process is completed and the device has rebooted.
After 10 minutes reboot again by removing the battery whilst powered-on and leave it out for a couple of minutes.
Leave it again for 10 minutes. You should now have a fully functioning BB!

  • I can't send SMS text from iPad 4 w/ cellular, no option to add or turn off/on

I can no longer send SMS text with IPad 4 w/ cellular. There is no option in settings-messages to turn on SMS like on iphone5. Everything is trying to be sent iMessage which fails when sending text to non apple users. This change occurred after last iOS update.

I can confirm this for the Ipad Mini with iOS6.1
Although the cellular hardware is available - the iPad doesn't handle SMS Text messages.
For those trying to use prepaid 3G internet data simcards, not being able to send or receive text messages pretty much cripples most 3G prepaid internet simcard packages available around the world.

  • Not found in Contacts - erorr message when composing SMS text message after Software Update 1.07 Sprint Centro

    Hardware: Palm Centro
    Wireless: Sprint
    PC OS: Windows XP Pro
After installing the "Software Update 1.07 (Windows installer) for Centro for Sprint" (Article ID: 6012 - http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/6012_en.html) starting from http://sprint.com/downloads, I noticed the stock Palm Messaging application that comes with the device did not work as it did prior to the update.
I was able to fix it. Here's what the problem was and what I did to correct it.
"Not found in Contacts" message appeared when composing and addressing a new SMS text message.
In the Contacts app, Options>Preferences, I simply reordered the contacts from "Last Name, First Name" to "Company, Last Name", and saved the change.
I then immediately went back into the same preference, and changed the setting back from "Company, Last Name" to "Last Name, First Name", and saved that change.
Going back to the Messaging application, when composing a new message, now the Contacts database is linked again. Whew!
    Post relates to: Centro (Sprint)

  • How to reinstall SMS text software...

Brought a 8350i(nextel) off of ebay, received phone but device cant receive or send SMS text. Has options to send email, PIN, MMs, and IM but no SMS. Help PLEASE.... bbm me <censored>
EDIT: Personal Information Removed - Info such as PIN is prohibited for security purposes.

Before you do what JSanders suggests above, I'd do a resettofactory to remove any IT Policy that is likely blocking the sms/mms feature.

  • New SMS text not going directly to address book

In my messages folder, when I select  "Compose SMS Text" the options are limited to Phone or Email, and not my address book. I did not change any settings, this just appeared out of the blue. Could anyone here help?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I'm a little confused by your statement, could you try and re-phrase it please
In the meantime, try a Battery Pull:
    1. Remove the battery while phone is turned on
    2. Wait a few seconds before inserting it again
    3. Allow the long boot up process to finish (takes a few minutes usually)
This clears most software issues that occur on blackberries from time to time. You could also use Quickpull, a free app that simulates a battery pull without physically removing the battery: http://software.crackberry.com/product.asp?id=27660
A battery pull reclaims memory lost during application usage and clears minor software errors that creep in over time. The blackberry runs an OS just like your PC runs windows and the battery pull is the equivalent of a reboot/restart on your computer.

  • SMS Text Features

Will Apple come out with features for SMS Text such as copy and paste and options for us to be able to time stamp every outgoing and receiving text? Why does Apple not allow the user to have more choice in the settings on his/her phone?

Nobody here can answer these questions since we are all users like you. Only Apple knows.

  • New iPad Air 2 not avail as SMS forward option on 6Plus

    Hi!
I'm sure I just don't have some random setting correctly, but can't figure out which one it is!
I purchased a new iPad Air 2 the other day and went through the activation/backup restoration process with no issues.  HOwever, as I was sitting here playing with it, I realized I was not getting SMS texts from my mom.  So, I went about trying to get it all set up.  I have 2 options on my iPhone 6plus for SMS text forwarding, my desktop Mac and my old iPad.  The new one does not show up in the list.
What do I need to do to get the iPad Air 2 to show up so I can get the activiation code and start sending/recieving SMS messages on the iPad again???
    Thanks!
    Lora

Ok....completely ignore!  I figured it out!
Just in case someone else has this same problem: I simpley turned iMessage off on both devices and then powered them both down.  Brought them both up individually and turned iMessage back on, iPhone first iPad second.  Once they both requested me to sign back in, turned on forwarding and the activation code showed up immediately.
SMS messages now work on iPad and all is right in my world.....at least where these 2 electronics are concerned for now

  • 8300 SIM card is full! Please delete some SMS Text Messages.

I have had my BlackBerry Curve since December of 2008. It has recently started acting up, and my main problem is that it claims the SIM card is full.

I haven't any contacts stored on my SIM. What gives?
Message Edited by afawcett88 on 09-04-2009 01:59 PM

I finally figured out how to delete SMS text messages from the SIM card.  Open a text that you sent or you received from someone.  Open the menu then "view folder" option.  All of your sent and received text messages will be stored here and can be deleted.

  • SMS Text Display name

If I go into options on my BB 8530 and into the SMS Text and change my display name and then save it keeps it for a short period of time.  As soon as I do a reboot by the alt, caps, del keys it goes back to the first name I put in.  Is there a service book that keeps that stored somewhere?  How do I get it to keep the display name that I want?  Thanks

Any suggestions on what to do? Is there a service book that maybe can be replaced? I see a WapPushConfig (SMS). Will deleting that maybe fix it or will that cause more issues? Thanks for the help.
Well, quite honestly, the SMS is not enabled by service book... BUT, there is no harm in deleting that one and resending it.
    Delete that SB entry.
    Reboot (powered on battery pull)
    Resend Service Books.
Check it is reinstalled, if not do another reboot.

  • Exporting SMS text messages from the Treo 680

What options are available to export SMS text messages and call logs from the Treo 680?  I need to create hard copys for evedence in a court case. I back-up files to the Palm Desktop on a Mac OS-X.
I have searched through the Palm guide, but no discussion on extracting the SMS data.  I understand that the sms messages are in the file "Messages Database.pdb" and the call log is in "PhoneCallDB.pdb", question is how to extract the records.

  • SMS text

Every few weeks, all of a sudden all of my SMS/MMS and email messages get deleted (even though in "options" i have setting to keep things for 2months or 6months). Then I stop recieving ANY SMS texts and if I send any, they are automatically deleted a moment later. Also my email all of a sudden is saving only few hours at a time, though I have set it up as keeping emails for 6months. I have gone through ALL of the possible "options" and tried to adjust so my messages would be save, but everything keeps deleting and I am not getting any new SMS messages.  please help!!!

You're facing memory constraints in your device. Perform the following steps -
Give a soft reset by removing the battery for 30sec.
Check how much memory is free in your device to Options -> Status -> Free Memory. To view all the database size go to Option -> Status -> click Menu button then select Database Sizes
Delete less frequently used application. To delete go to Options -> Advanced Options -> Applications -> highlight the application you want to delete -> click Menu and select Delete
If you stored your picture in device memory them move them to your media card
Check the below Knowledge Bases -
Call and SMS logs disappear when BlackBerry smartphone is low on memory
Email messages are deleted from the BlackBerry device

  • Cannot Receive SMS Text Messages

I have a Blackberry 8800 on O2 network in UK. I can make and receive voice 'phone calls, send and receive emails and send SMS text mesages BUT cannot receive text messages. When I put my SIM card into another mobile the text messages come through okay. My SIM is not out of space while the "status" in Options/Security/Firewall is set to disabled so is not blocking messages. Any ideas?

I am/was experiencing the same kind of thing. I am in San Antonio, TX and this morning at school my friend (Sprint Customer) said that she had tried to Text me twice this morning. We then tested our phones and saw that she could receive mine but I could not receive hers. Then an AT&T friend of mine sent me a message and I discovered that we can have a conversations just fine.
Then later, after I tried another failed attempt at messaging the friend mentioned previously, I asked another freind (Yet another sprint customer) to text me and we had the same result. Then when he called me to see if i could receive calls I got his last text and many other texts from other people. The problem now is that I still do not reciece all text messages AND the ones I do get come multiple times (I am currently at 5 and counting).
