SMS troubles N95

Hi I have some issues with SMS on my N95. The other day I took out my memory card and was moving some music files around on my PC while doing that I receieved couple of SMS's so the phone moved the inbox from the memory card to phone memory. Since then I cannot access my inbox on the memory card and the sms's which were synced by lifeblog are no longer visible (the messages which are on my memory card)
So my questions are:
1. How do I access the sms's on my memory card
2. How do I change my sms's store back to the card and copy the messages in phone memory to the sms's on the card.
3. Lifeblog is there a reason why it did not keep the sms's on pc even if the inbox was changed?
Hope somebody can help me with this minor but very annoying issue as I have some information in these sms I need to access.

I have heard of this being a network-related issue - something gets messed up at the network end and message icons either don't appear or won't go away. May be worth contacting your network to see if they can fix the problem.

Hi,
I have lost SMS from N95. I had deleted the files from the "private" folder from the memory card. When I restarted the mobile all the SMS were lost. I have copied the deleted files back to the "Private" folder and restarted the mobile and still the SMS are not seen.
Please advise the way to get back the SMS...

the only files found by the music player are a selection of very small (~20KB) audio clips stored on the phone memory!
when I received the phone, I backed up my N70 and transferred all the information onto the N95 using PC suite. would this have anything to do with the music player not functioning properly?
having searched this forum, it seems a few other users have had similar problems, which appear to have been fixed when they changed the file format of the audio, or put it in a different directory. I have tried the fixes mentioned in these threads but still the music player doesn't recognise anything...

N95 SMS TROUBLE

my n95 will not allow me to send a sms message, a eroor message pops up and says 'MEMORY FULL, PLEASE CLOSE SOME APPLICATIONS AND TRY AGAIN'. there is nothing open and my memory is not full!!! please help

How many text messages do you have stored in your phone? Try deleting some of them. If the problem persists, try a hard reset (key in *#7370# in standby mode), but note that a hard reset will erase ALL the data and info stored in your phone.

Unable to open and read the full sms on n95 8gb

Hi,
after i upgraded the latest firmware of n95 8gb i am facing wiered problems.
now whenever i recieve a sms i am able to see the sms in my inbox but when i try to open it to read the full message it doesnt do anything.
tried all options but no luck.

hi, now problem is resolved.
1. i had just removed all my alarms.
2. set the time zone again
3. took out the sim card and put it again
4. and also ensured that i have proper settings for messages i.e message centre no. n all.
not sure what made it to work but finally its working.
Is your time zone and time set properly after you upgraded the firmware ?

N80 SMS TROUBLE

HI,
i have N80, if i send sms it takes 4-5 minutes to go through, & meanwhile if any person try to cal me at the time while i m sending sms,it rings on their side but it doesnt show in my mobile or rings, and i miss lots of important cals for this issue while sendings sms., i m fed up this Ph-N80,
Do Any Nokia N-80 User has the same problem or can any one help me on this issue.,,,

Download and install the "SMS Accellerator" fix from Nokia's support site for the N80:

Can't send SMS with N95

Hi,
I never had any problems with my N95. I have always been able to send text and suddenly yesterday I wasn't able to send any. I still can receive texts.
I checked that the message center number was the correct one (it was), backed up my data and tried typing *7370# to reset my phone. Nothing worked!
Everytime I'm sending a text it says it failed and if I choose to display more details it says : "General: Memory full. Close some applications and try again"
Weird! I'm using only 20% of my phone memory and 30% of my SD card. I have tried to delete most of my applications but nothing work! Besides I have no apps running while I tried sending texts...
I didn't install anything or try anything new with my phone so I am pretty sure it's a bug with my N95.

Same problem for me too. I took mine to the repair centre at the Carphone Warehouse last week as advised by O2. Apparently they can do Nokia warranty work quicker!
They 'flashed it' a couple of times & I had to re install the network settings for MMS. However it's playing up again. They said it needs to be sent off to Nokia now, which will take two weeks.
Further annoying is that neither my network provider or Carphone Warehouse can lend me a phone in the meantime to tide me over. Hope you're having better luck!!!

How can I restore sms on N95

Hello... I've saved my sms messages on my computer but I did not a full back up of the mobile then I want only to restore my messages into the mobile. How can I do it?

please try noki to extract sms from the backup file then copy-n-paste the extracted vMessage files(.vmg) to the phone via pc suite.
for some phones, only the 'archived sms box' accept paste.

The N95 issue thread

Since there is no seperate board for the N95, I propose to use this thread to post the issues/malfunctions for the N95. The N95 is certainly very cool, but there are also a lot of minor annoyances and inconveniences that should not be present in a professional PDA. Hopefully, this can be a place for Nokia to look when they start making their new firmware. This is what I have encountered so far (based on this weeks new firmware):
* Too many places exist to define wireless networks. There seems to be a lot of duplication in the menus. Very confusing.
* When you have selected a wireless network and you go to maps, you have to reselect the wireless network AND add the WEP key again AND again AND Again.
[In my Wlan wizard I have saved my home wlan. Every time I see the N95 home screen it sais "found ". However I have only once seen the "connected to " when you actually see the status icons behind it. And this has been the only time I haven''t had to enter that %#$%# WEP key again when I start up GPS. ]=>so: handshake with home wlan doesn't seem to work properly.
* When you create an SMS, the N95 can''t locate addresses/numbers on your SIM card, just the ones you have copied to your phone memory. Very frustrating!
* It seems that once you have *not* copied all the addresses on your sim to phone memory at first go, you can only copy them one at a time.
* Also can''t find a way to turn "reminder" in the calendar function on by default with a default pre-time of x. Basic pda stuff.

I don't think this feature should be removed, I think the option to disable it should be added, as I, and several other users find it quite useful - it's not a new feature of the N95, and I got used to it a long time ago

N95 8GB SMS contacts display

Hey all
(be nice, im new )
Just got my n95 8GB today and it's awesome, but i'm having trouble with contacts in the inbox -
what happens currently is when i get a message in it displays last name, first name - ie Smith Bob, instead of Bob Smith
Does anyone know how to change this so that it doesn't happen?
I've tried changing the settings in the contacts list but it doesn't seem to help.

There is no setting for it unfortunatley...
The best way to cure this if it really is an issue ( although time consuming) would be to swap the names around in first name last name i.e.
First Name: Bob
Last Name: Smith
Shows as Smith Bob in SMS
Make it
First Name: Smith
Last Name: Bob
Shows as bob Smith in a message...

I bought nokia n95 phone two days ago. It is a very good phone but the only problem am facing is that whenever I receive an sms, the number appears only and not the name though the name is saved in my contacts
Please help me on what to do

Hi yasmeen2110,
Chances are either:
1. There is a duplicate number among your contacts, or
2. Country code, state code issue. E.g. if the incoming number is +1 23 4567890, where 1 is country, 23 is state and 4567890 is the number, and your contact only stores 4567890, it may not be able to recognise the number stored within your contact list.
Anyone can elaborate on point 2, cause the 2nd problem doesn't occur in my country island? ^_^;

N95 8GB inbox mess! sort/order sms by date!!

Why do ew sms messages I recieve on my N95 8GB suddenly appear in a randon spot (i.e. not at the bginning or end of the inbox list) even though I tried more than once to do "Sort by: Date"!!?

I have an N95 and installed firmware 31.0.17 in February 2009. It is still the latest version in August. The phone was OK for about 3 months, until I returned from a holiday overseas. Since then it has occasionally got confused about the date, even though I have network time updates always turned off. The phone usually decides it is several days in the future and so my calenday goes crazy. I change the date manually, then it works fine until a few days later, when it suddenly loses several days again. When I correct the date this second time, the phone usually runs OK for a month or more.
I cannot sort my messaging inbox or sent folder properly - by date, name or subject. They appear to be ordered randomly. I wondered whether this date scrambling problem is corrupting the file system timestamps of some of my sms entries....
... however, when I connect the client to my IMAP mail server (which provides sensible dates), the phone fails to present my email folder contents in the right order too!
Why hasn't someone from Nokia support responded to this thread? This problem has existed for about a year and persisted through more than one firmware version?
