SMTP Connect error in Mail - Gmail

Hi
I have been getting the below error when i try to send an email out through the mail client. It was working just fine till this evening and now its all gone downhill...
Please help.
Regards
R

Hi
Update on the issue, tried connecting to the internet using my cellphone and mail managed to sync. Hence I am led to believe that this is an issue with my ISP. Their DNS servers have been acting up for the last few days, could that be a reason for sync to SMTP to fail?

  • Is there a way to control the number of concurrent SMTP connections on Database Mail?

    Las week Rackspace started controlling the number of concurrent SMTP connections and we are now getting the following message when we send as little as 15 messages at a time using Database Mail:
    Exception Message: Cannot send mails to mail server. (Service not available, closing transmission channel. The server response was: 4.7.0 smtp13.relay.dfw1a.emailsrvr.com Error: too many connections from IP xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx)
    We are using SQL Server 2005 and Windows 2003 and we have been doing this since 2006 with no problems
    Is there a way to control the number of concurrent SMTP connections used by Database Mail or the Database Mail external executable DatabaseMail90.exe?

    Hi rkohler,
    Usually, we can use the Database Mail Configuration Wizard or the Database Mail stored procedures to determine the server name and port number for the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) server . In the SMTP server points, we can set or increase the number
    of concurrent connections.
    There is similar issue about database email on SQL Server 2005, you can refer to the following post.

  • SMTP connection problems in mail with 10.4.7

    I have been using Mail with no problems until updating to 10.4.7.
    I am with BT Broadband for Business, using their SMTP server. I have checked that the update did not tick the SOCKS option in network preferences, but this remains unticked so is not the problem.
    I know for sure that the SMTP settings are correct, and working, as my wife is able to send mail from Outlook on her PC using the same account with no problems.
    I had this problem a couple of days ago, and fixed it by installing the latest combo update of 10.4.7. I tried this again as the problem re-occurred out of the blue, but this time applying the update is not fixing the problem.
    This only applies to outgoing mail, incoming mail still arrives.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

  • SMTP Connection issue

    I have a fresh install of Yosemite on a mid 2011 Macbook Air. I am trying to setup Mail app for my email accounts. When I get one setup there is an SMTP connection error. I also downloaded and installed thunderbird and setup the account on there with no SMTP errors. This seems to be an issue with Mail SMTP. Any help with this would be great.

    I note that you have made similar posting that all seem to be related to the same problem you are having. It's better to make the one post and wait for someone to respond.
    What have you attempted to do so far to get Mail working again? No point in me making a suggestion which you've already tried.

  • Mac Mail: Gmail IMAP Connectivity Error

    Hi,
    "The server returned the error: The server “imap.gmail.com” cannot be contacted on port 993"
    I am having this error when connecting to my google gmail accounts via IMAP. It works on and off. Mostly the symptom occurs after waking up from sleep mode. It started with Maverciks, but got worse with latest 10.9.2 release. Quitting the Mac Mail and restarting it fixes it.
    It is getting very annoyying as the frequency of this issue has gone up.
    ramana.

    I also have this problem with paid Google Apps service using Mail.app on 10.9.1.
    The syncranisation is very slow, and during the sync process the mail application is not responsive and Inbox does not show any new mail that has come in.
    Performing a packet capture ("netstat -na | grep .993" to find IP address of Gmail server connected), and then runnning "sudo tcpdump -w ~/Desktop/gmail host XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX" shows that in 20 minutes, total amount of data transferred to/from Gmail is only 1.6 Megabytes!
    The "All Mail" folder is disabled for IMAP under Gmail settings. There is a lot of mail on Gmail (6GB), but Mail.app has already 11GB of data in the accounts ~/Library/Mail/V2/[email protected]@imap.gmail.com folder.
    Mail.app -> Window -> Activity shows very slow "Adding Messages"
    It looks like the users which have less than 2GB of mail, do not seem to be affected.

  • Send E-mail from Oracle (9.2.0.1) : SMTP transient error: 421 Service not a

    I have used Oracle 9i server (9.2.0.1 version) on Windows XP machine(with SP2).I want to send Email from PL/SQL procedure.
    My Question is what sort of configuration needed to perform this activity?
    I have installed IIS (Internet Information Service)
    in my machine, then configure my SMTP mail server
    with a valid email id and password given TCP port 465.
    Later I came to know that to send Email from PL/SQL I have to install Oracle JServer Code. Follow three steps. the steps are
    1. Execute the script as sys "$ORACLE_HOME\javavm\install\initjvm.sql"
    2. Execute the loadjava classfile as
    $ORACLE_HOME\plsql\jlib>loadjava -f -v -r -u sys/**** plsql.jar
    3. Execute the script as sys "$ORACLE_HOME\rdbms\admin\initplsj.sql"
    I sucessfully executed the first step, but for the second step iam not able to locate the plsql.jar file in the specified path.

    1) Why did you install an SMTP server locally and then tell your code to try to use the server mail.google.com?
    2) The error you're getting is from mail.google.com indicating that Google isn't running an open SMTP server there. I would be very surprised if Google were running a publicly available SMTP server anywhere since that would be an invitation for spammers.

    Hi jodilynnf,
    When using Connection Doctor to see what is could be causing the issue, look for the red dots to let you know what is wrong. Then all you have to do is correct that information. You can double click on the section that is giving you issue and it will take you there. Most issues could be just password being entered incorrectly. Take a look at the article below to walk you through troubleshooting issues with Mail.

  • ORA-29279: SMTP permanent error: 503 Issue MAIL FROM: command before RCPT T

    Hi all, i have a procedure called proc_send_mail, the procedure obviously, send a mail using utl_smpt. I use that procedure in many clients and just in one of them, i got this error (ORA-29279: SMTP permanent error: 503 Issue MAIL FROM: command before RCPT T).
    Here is my code:
    recStat := utl_smtp.helo(c, vServidor);
    vStatus := nvl(vStatus,'') || to_char(recStat.code) ||' '|| recStat.text;
    dbms_output.put_line('Status:'||vStatus);
    recStat := utl_smtp.mail(c, p_address_from);
    vStatus := nvl(vStatus,'') || to_char(recStat.code) ||' '|| recStat.text;
    dbms_output.put_line('Status3:'||vStatus);
    dbms_output.put_line('p_address_from:'||p_address_from);
    dbms_output.put_line('p_address_to:'||p_address_to);
    utl_smtp.rcpt(c, p_address_to);
    vStatus := nvl(vStatus,'') || to_char(recStat.code) ||' '|| recStat.text;
    dbms_output.put_line('Status2:'||vStatus);
    -- This is the message
    vMensagem := 'MIME-Version: 1.0' || chr(13) || chr(10);
    vMensagem := vMensagem ||'From: '|| p_mail_from ||' <'|| p_address_from ||'>'|| chr(13) || chr(10);
    vMensagem := vMensagem ||'Subject: '|| p_subject || chr(13) || chr(10);
    vMensagem := vMensagem ||'To: '|| p_mail_to ||' <'|| p_address_to ||'>'|| chr(13) || chr(10);
    vMensagem := vMensagem ||'Reply-To: '|| p_address_from || chr(13) || chr(10);
    So, i call:
    - utl_smtp.helo
    - utl_smtp.mail
    - utl_smtp.rcpt -----> in this i have trouble
    anyone can help me? I check the mail from and mail to, and they are correct.
    P.S: Sorry, my english is too bad.

    Hi,
    Many mail server provides like gmail use TLS/SSL for mail transmission. The error suggest your mail server is expecting a TLS/SSL connection.
    The TLS/SSL connection is not part of the UTL_SMTP and UTL_MAIL API. You have to either use Wallet as described here http://oracleblues.blogspot.in/2010/09/11g-release-2-11202-new-utlsmtp.html or use a third party tunneler like stunnel as described here http://monkeyonoracle.blogspot.in/2009/11/plsql-and-gmail-or-utlsmtp-with-ssl.html
    Cheers,

  • UTL_SMTP: can't connect to remote mail server (error: 421)

    I'm trying to execute this command as SYS:

    *Cause:    A SMTP transient error occurred.
    *Action:   Correct the error and retry the SMTP operation.
    However, I can telnet successfully as root user to mail.mydomain.com. The stored procedure is:
    create or replace
    PROCEDURE send_mail_via_utl_smtp(
    sender IN VARCHAR2,
    recipient IN VARCHAR2,
    subject IN VARCHAR2 DEFAULT NULL,
    message IN VARCHAR2,
    mailhost IN VARCHAR2 DEFAULT 'mailhost'
    AS
    mail_conn UTL_SMTP.connection;
    crlf CONSTANT VARCHAR2(2) := CHR(13) || CHR(10);
    smtp_tcpip_port CONSTANT PLS_INTEGER := 25;
    BEGIN
    mail_conn := UTL_SMTP.OPEN_CONNECTION(mailhost, smtp_tcpip_port);
    UTL_SMTP.HELO(mail_conn, mailhost);
    UTL_SMTP.MAIL(mail_conn, sender);
    UTL_SMTP.RCPT(mail_conn, recipient);
    UTL_SMTP.DATA(mail_conn, SUBSTR(
    'Date: ' || TO_CHAR(SYSTIMESTAMP, 'Dy, dd Mon YYYY HH24:MI:SS TZHTZM') || crlf
    || 'From: ' || sender || crlf
    || 'Subject: ' || subject || crlf
    || 'To: ' || recipient || crlf
    || message,
    1, 32767));
    UTL_SMTP.QUIT(mail_conn);
    END send_mail_via_utl_smtp;
    Note that mail.mydomain.com is sitting on the application server, and not the database server (not sure if that is important here). Previously, I set things up doing the following as SYS user:
    # cd $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin
    # sqlplus / as sysdba
    SQL> @utlmail.sql;
    Package created.
    Synonym created.
    SQL> @prvtmail.plb;
    Package created.

    Grant succeeded.
    Package body created.
    No errors.
    SQL> ALTER SYSTEM SET smtp_out_server = "mail.mydomain.com" SCOPE=MEMORY;
    System altered.
    SQL> show parameter smtp_out_server
    NAME TYPE VALUE
    ============
    smtp_out_server string mail.mydomain.com
    SQL> exec DBMS_NETWORK_ACL_ADMIN.CREATE_ACL('my_acl_email.xml','for my db acl to send email', 'MYSCHEMA', TRUE, 'connect');
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    SQL> exec DBMS_NETWORK_ACL_ADMIN.ASSIGN_ACL('my_acl_email.xml','mail.mydomain.com', 25, NULL);
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    It appears that the SYS user is permitted by the ACL, but is somehow blocked access to mail.mydomain.com on the application server. Are there any Linux configurations that need to occur in implementing this process? Or, am I missing something in configuring Oracle. I'm using 11.2.0.1.0. This is my first time setting this up. Does the database need to be cycled down then back up for any of these settings to take place?

    Thanks Justin, that helps a lot. Now, with the 'AUTH LOGIN' command, I'm getting the error:
    ORA-29279: SMTP permanent error: 503 AUTH command used when not advertised

    *Cause:    A SMTP permanent error occurred.

    UPDATE:
    Actually, my procedure above uses this line:
    UTL_SMTP.HELO(mail_conn, mailhost);
    But I noticed Justin's code above uses:
    UTL_SMTP.EHLO(mail_conn, mailhost);
    When I change the HELO to EHLO, everything works fine. Here's the final code:
    create or replace
    PROCEDURE send_mail_via_utl_smtp(
    sender IN VARCHAR2,
    recipient IN VARCHAR2,
    subject IN VARCHAR2 DEFAULT NULL,
    message IN VARCHAR2,

    auth_username IN VARCHAR2,
    auth_password IN VARCHAR2
    AS
    mail_conn UTL_SMTP.connection;
    crlf CONSTANT VARCHAR2(2) := CHR(13) || CHR(10);
    smtp_tcpip_port CONSTANT PLS_INTEGER := 25;
    BEGIN
    mail_conn := UTL_SMTP.OPEN_CONNECTION(mailhost, smtp_tcpip_port);
    UTL_SMTP.EHLO(mail_conn, mailhost);
    --------------BEGIN AUTHENTICATION--------------
    UTL_SMTP.command(mail_conn, 'AUTH LOGIN');
    utl_smtp.command(mail_conn, utl_raw.cast_to_varchar2(utl_encode.base64_encode( utl_raw.cast_to_raw(auth_username))));
    utl_smtp.command(mail_conn, utl_raw.cast_to_varchar2(utl_encode.base64_encode( utl_raw.cast_to_raw(auth_password))));
    --------------END AUTHENTICATION--------------
    UTL_SMTP.MAIL(mail_conn, sender);
    UTL_SMTP.RCPT(mail_conn, recipient);
    UTL_SMTP.DATA(mail_conn, SUBSTR(
    'Date: ' || TO_CHAR(SYSTIMESTAMP, 'Dy, dd Mon YYYY HH24:MI:SS TZHTZM') || crlf

    P.S: CHECKING !!
    STEP 1.
    First compile and execute the PROGRAM 1 with your USERNAME & PASSWORD. This will send a mail to your own account.
    STEP 2.
    Now compile both PART 1 & PART 2 of PROGRAM 2. Then, execute PART 1 - Main.java. This will retrive the mail sent in step 1. njoy! :)
    In future, I hope this is added to the demo programs of the Java Mail API download package.
    This is for 3 main reasons...
    1. To prevent a lot of silly questions being posted on this forum [like the ones I did :(].
    2. To give the first time Java Mail user with a real time working example without code modification [code has to use command line args like the demo programs - for instant results].
    3. Also, this is what google has to say..
    "The Gmail Team is committed to making sure you always can access your mail. That's why we're offering POP access and auto-forwarding. Both features are free for all Gmail users and we have no plans to charge for them in the future."

    I guess bshannon & Java Mail team is hearing this....
    Again, Hurray and thanks for helping me make it!! cheers & no more frowned faces!!
