  • Upgrade to ios 5 deleted some important e-mails and now won't retrieve e-mail from ISP???

Once we upgraded to the new ios 5 we lost e-mails on both the iPad and also on the iMac.  It also has stopped being able to get new e-mail from my isp Comcast.  It has the little circle running up in the top corner but can't get e-mail even though it still has all the isp info there including smtp and passwords etc. etc.

I updated my wife's 3GS to 5.0.1 and some of her emails were deleted, and it will not receive any email from the server either. My sister had no problems until she updated to 5.0.1 either. After it, her 4 was going very slow, wouldn't make any sounds for notifications, and apple tech walked her through everything. She received a new iPhone 4 from the apple store, and it did the exact same thing. Apple's answer was it is a hardware fault. It seems like all around the new update has more problems than it fixes.

  • Cannot download Mail from ISP Web Mail Page.  Help please?!!

Using an Intel Mac, running OS X. 4. 11
    Mail 2.1.3
Last night suddenly my mail stopped downloading new incoming mail from the server web mail page.
I have spoken to my ISP/server (they have an excellent Mac tech team.) and the settings for my account are correct, and Connection Doctor says all is well.
I can send mail, well I have not had any response from people yet to know they got it! But a test to myself goes into my web mail page and will not download either.
My ISP says they wonder if it is problem with the Mail application.
I do not want to do a clean install, and risk losing any data.
As it was all of my old mail in my inbox and Trash, I had kept from people as a reminder, that went when we altered the settings temporarily but when that did not work we went back to the original settings.
I hate having to have a web page open as well as my mail when replying to a person.
    Any ideas?
Or if it is a Mail problem might it work if I used a different mail application such as Eudora or Thunderbird?

Might be Apple, but I'd try re-applyimg the latest update...

  • Deleting mail from ISP server

I purchased a Razr (Big mistake).  I can send and receive email. (No problem.)  When I deldete an email from the Razr, it also deletes the email from my ISP server.  (Big problem)  Does anyone know how to change the settings to leave emails on the server when deleted on the Razr.  It was easy on my Droid Incredible.  (Better phone)  Went to mail settings and unchecked a box.  No one at any of the Verizon stores I have gone to seems to know how to fix it.

This is email settings according to Motorola. It also noted on the chart that you should use a computer to enable the "Delete from server" option on your email provider settings if using a POP service.
ATT requires using the full email address, [email protected]
    sbcglobal.net
    POP3
    Incoming: pop.att.yahoo.com
    port 995
    use secure server - yes
    verify certificate - yes
    outgoing: smtp.att.yahoo.com
    port 465
    use secure server - yes
    verify certificate - yes
I don't know if these are the settings that you were using or if they are still accurate.

  • IPhone 5 mail set up as IMAP - deletes mail from ISP server

I have had my iPhone 5 for 3 months.  I set up one of my email accounts with my ISP (Charter) as IMAP and the phone is behaving as expected.  I have it set to show 50 recent messages which is fine; I assumed that I could always login to my Charter account if I was away from home and needed something older.  Outlook on my PC is behaving as expected and I can open unopened email from a long time ago.  But I just found that login to my Charter account through a browser, there are only about 100 messages in my inbox, and there is nothing in my sent folder since the day before I got my iPhone.
I would like for nothing to get deleted from Charter's server unless I delete it using Outlook on my PC or accessing my Charter account through a browser.
Is there any way to do this?

The folders that I see on the phone don't match up to the folders I have set up in Outlook.  I much prefer to handle the mail there.  I just want to be able to see the mail on the phone and not have the phone be the boss of the server.  I now understand that is really not possible.  I will try to remember to increase the number of messages retained on the phone before I travel.  (concerned that they will start being deleted from the server before I download them to the PC via Outlook.)
    Thanks for your replies.

  • CANNOT SEND MAIL FROM .MAC SMTP ACCOUNT

    Hello everyone--
I can receive mail from my .mac account and have done extensive troubleshooting including:
    1. Changing ports from 25 to 587
    2. Deleting and re-installing mailbox
    3. Reading a hosts of topics
    4. I have the serving settings with SSL unchecked
...but this still giving me the same trouble. I cannot send out because my email address keeps getting rejected.
    Any suggestions? Thanks!

Are you also accessing an email account and SMTP server in Mail that is provided by your ISP used for connecting to the internet?
If so, can you send mail with this account and SMTP server?
If the answer is yes to both questions, select/use your ISP's SMTP server to send mail with your .Mac account which is invisible to all recipients.
Most, if not all ISPs now block the use of SMTP servers outside of their network on Port 25. Some ISPs allow the use of an authenticated SMTP server only (such as the .Mac SMTP server) that is outside of their network on Port 25 but some block its use regardless.
Changing the Port for the SMTP server that is outside of the ISP's network from 25 to 587 usually resolves it but sometimes not depending on the ISP's restriction.
Have you contacted your ISP regarding their restrictions and/or requirements when using an SMTP server that is outside of their network or not provided by them?
Using your ISP's SMTP server to send mail with your .Mac account should work and it may be required regardless.

We implemented Separate AV/anti-spam box with aliasdetour and conversion channel which is working fine.
we could achieve >95% spam control but recently we started receiving warnings from ISP that SPAM being sent out from our mail server.

    Hi,
You need to track down the source of the emails by
locating the relevant mail.log lines that correspond
to the email delivery attempt. This will at least
tell you how they are getting in (whether the email
    is coming in via the
    tcp_local/tcp_auth/tcp_submit/tcp_intranet channel

From there you can determine (if you have enough
    logging enabled such as LOG_USERNAME=1,
    LOG_CONNECTION=1, LOG_MESSAGE_ID=1) why they emails

  • Advice on SMTP setup for outgoing mail from internal devices only?

    Hello.
I'm trying to set up a basic SMTP server using OS X Server (10.5.6) so I can have devices (Server Monitor, my UPS power system alerts, router alerts, etc. — all on the local LAN/same subnet) send out mail when they need to send out alerts. These devices do not have the ability to configure SMTP authentication, so I just need to set up this outgoing SMTP server on one of my Xserves so they have a way of sending said mail.
Would anyone be willing to provide information on how I'd set this up?
I thought I had it set up correctly, but whenever I try and send a test email (from my mail.app account), I never receive anything at the intended delivery address (an email address hosted by a 3rd party)?
    Thanks!
    Kristin.

The default mail server configuration should accept mail from local clients and relay it to the destination domain. The only gotcha would be if the mail server thinks it's authoritative for the domain you're sending to (e.g. you're sending to '[email protected]' and this server thinks it is the mail server for 'yourdomain.com'. There are various ways of overcoming this - the easiest of which is to tell the server it's not authoritative for yourdomain.com.
The mail logs will give you an indication if that's the problem - it'll either say it delivered the mail locally, or that there was some problem connecting to the remote mail server.
Either way your ISP can't be blocking outgoing SMTP traffic (well, they could, but it would be pretty stupid of them), but your internal traffic shouldn't be touching your ISP's network anyway, which may indicate a configuration problem.

Resolving such issues can be complex. It is important to recognize that you've done nothing wrong.
The bounces occur because your ISP has chosen to subscribe to a blocking list maintained by one of several such services. In your case, BigPond is querying the Trend Micro MAPS RBL list each time it receives inbound smtp transactions, and for some reason, addresses or address ranges assigned to .Mac mail for such traffic have been added to this MAPS RBL.
BigPond can do nothing, really, but sever its link to MAPS, and is highly unlikely to do so. Beyond reporting the issue to Apple as indicated above via .Mac support using the web form located here, there is really nothing you can do. It is up to MAPS to remove the block based upon a request from Apple.
This sort of relative stupidity occurs quite frequently. We have chosen to use the services of spamhaus.org to limit SPAM on our internally operated mail server, and face the same issue with mail originating through domains maintained by T-Mobile, who has unfortunately found themselves on the Spamhaus PBL, or policy block list. I haven't been able to locate someone at T-Mobile responsible for resolving the issue, so mail originating outside our domain via T-Mobile HotSpots or the T-Mobile cellular data network—traffic that is legitimately relayed through our server to users outside our subnet—is blocked.
While I generally applaud the efforts of SPAM blocking services like MAPS and Spamhaus, I am beginning to believe that the unintended consequences of their services negate the value they otherwise provide. And, they operate with impunity and are unwilling to talk to affected users or notify sanctioned providers on behalf of affected users. They simply add the offending addresses to their many block lists, and leave it to others to correct what they see as a violation.

  • SMTP error from remote mail server 522 IP REPUTATI...

I have a hosting business, and one of my clients on BTinternet, using BT Mail is now having mail bounce back to sender when forwarded from her domain mailbox.
Here is an example of the bounced errors -
A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:
    [email protected]
    (ultimately generated from [email protected])
    host mx.bt.lon5.cpcloud.co.uk [65.20.0.49]
SMTP error from remote mail server after MAIL FROM:<[email protected]> SIZE=3749:
522 IP REPUTATION BAD (please check for IP address listing on reputation services)
I've changed the actual addresses above. The server the mail is being forwarded from has an IP address 138.128.161.22
It seems that BT believes that the  server the mail is forwarded from is blacklisted. However, I am unable to discover any blacklist issue for this server. As you can see from the MXToolbox enquiry, there are no blacklists reported -
    http://mxtoolbox.com/SuperTool.aspx?action=blacklist%3a138.128.161.22&run=toolpage
Can anybody from BT tell me who I need to contact to find out why they are not accepting mail from my server? I'm not having a problem with mail forwarded to any other ISP, and it seems to be just BT that is rejecting the mail.
    I hope someone can advise.
    Myles

Later I came to know that to send Email from PL/SQL I have to install Oracle JServer Code. Follow three steps. the steps are
    1. Execute the script as sys "$ORACLE_HOME\javavm\install\initjvm.sql"
    2. Execute the loadjava classfile as
    $ORACLE_HOME\plsql\jlib>loadjava -f -v -r -u sys/**** plsql.jar

    1) Why did you install an SMTP server locally and then tell your code to try to use the server mail.google.com?
    2) The error you're getting is from mail.google.com indicating that Google isn't running an open SMTP server there. I would be very surprised if Google were running a publicly available SMTP server anywhere since that would be an invitation for spammers.
