SMTP: message submitted to categorizer

Hi
A few e-mails are recieved by the Exchange 2003 server but not delieverd to the recipent. When I track e-mails with Message tracking center Tool there are 3 lines in the dialog-box. These are:
SMTP: Message Submitted to Advanced Cueuing
SMTP: Started Message Submission to Advanced Queue
SMTP:Message Submitted to Catagorizer
These e-mails are 1 and 2 days old and of course important for the recipent. I've tried to reboot the server but this did not solve the problem.
We're using Microsoft Small Business Server 2003 Premium edition
Thanks for help

I've had the same problems.
Try disabling Antigen.
1. Stop the following services:
- Microsoft Exchange System Attendant
- Microsoft Exchange Information Store
- Microsoft Exchange MTA Stacks
- Microsoft Exchange Routing Engine
- Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP)
- IIS Admin Service
- Windows Management Instrumentation
2. In a command promtp disable Antigen
- C:\Program Files\Sybari Software\Antigen for Exchange
- antutil /disable
3. Start the stopped services of step 1.
Hope this is usefull!

  • SMTP store Driver: Message submitted to categorizer

    Hi,
    I have Ms Exchange 2003 sp2 running on Windows Server 2003 sp2. It started just today when users ( so far I know of two) send an email to a distribution list in outlook 2007, some of the users in the distribution list receive them, and others don't. On one
    of these particular machines I have tried the same email a few times and the same users in the distribution list receive the email every time however, the other users in the distribution list don't. The sender's email is also in the distribution list but never
    gets the email. if the user sends the email only to him self, it works.
    So I started the investigation by looking at Message Tracking center where I realized that among the distribution list the same users kept getting the email while the others don't. This Exchange server has no email virus checking or anything  else special
    on it.
    I see
    SMTP store driver: Message submitted from store
    SMTP: Message submitted to Advanced Queuing
    SMTP: started Message Submission to Advanced Queue
    SMTP: Message Submitted to Categorizer
    and there is nothing more...no ndr's, no errors, it's like the message is lost in cyber company space.
    Can someone please help me to figure what's going on and why and most of all how to fix this issue.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Please try to check "Directory Access" following the steps below.
    1. Open ESM, expand "Servers", right click on the server and select "Properties", click "Directory Access", select "Global Catalog Servers" from the dropdown and uncheck "Automatically discover servers" and add the GC manually.
    2. Then please restart Exchange services.
    If the issue persists, to narrow down the issue, I recommend you enable diagnostic logging for Message Categorizer. To enable diagnostic logging for Message Categorizer, you can do this.
    1.Start Registry Editor: From the Start menu, click Run, and then type regedit.
    2.In Registry Editor, locate and right-click the following registry key value, and then click Edit:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\ MSExchangeTransport\Diagnostics\Categorizer
    3.Set the value to 7.
    Then you can check the message tracking log to troubleshoot messages that are stuck in the categorizer.
    Besides that, here is a related article for your reference.

  • RE: SMTP message transfer with Forte'

    Hey,
    You would have to use POP or POP3 client (not a lot of work) to retrieve
    messages from mail server or write you own mail server (much, much more
    work).
    See SMTP/POP3 documentation on requirements - implementation, there is
    plenty of information on the internet.
    Hope this helps.

  • SMTP message cannot be sent

    Hi All,
    I'm trying to send a custom ebMS document from Acme to Global Chips over Email. It is throwing me the below error message. From the below error I found out that the port number was wrong. I think it is taking the port number by default, but the actual email port number is 143, I'm not sure where I can change the port number.
    Kindly help me to fix the issue.
    Transport error: [IPT_MsgCannotBeSent] SMTP message cannot be sent.
    Sending failed;
    nested exception is:
         javax.mail.MessagingException: Could not connect to SMTP host: oracle.com, port: 25;
    nested exception is:
         java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: connect
    Regards,
    Priyanka

    Port number 25 is default port number for SMTP and 143 is for IMAP. Hence port numbers are correctly defined. My kind suggestion would be is oracle.com accessible for your environment. i.e please make sure HOST is correct?.
    "POP3HOST:110",
    "IMAPHOST:143",
    "SMTPHOST:25",
    If need more details to check configuration correctness, use following link
    http://java.sun.com/products/javamail/FAQ.html#1
    Right now, I don't have idea whether we can configure port number in B2B.

    Hi wermain.
    Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, choose Network Port Configurations from the Show popup menu, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list. Try also turning OFF all the network port configurations except the one needed to connect to Internet and see whether that helps — if it doesn’t, turn ON again the ones you want enabled.
    Mail keeps information about outgoing (SMTP) servers in a separate list independently of the mail accounts themselves. The account settings just associate one of the available outgoing servers with each account. Orphaned or dangling outgoing server entries (i.e. not associated with any account) sometimes cause weird sending problems. Go to Preferences > Accounts > Account Information > Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP), choose Edit Server List from the popup menu, and delete any servers that shouldn’t be there. The Edit Server List panel shows the account each outgoing server is associated with.
    BTW, in case you weren’t aware of it, you can make your life easier in these forums by going to System Preferences > International > Language and moving English to the top of the list. The next time you launch Mail, it'll be all in English. You can then go back to the preferences panel and move your preferred language to the top again so that everything else is in that language.

    I don't believe this to be a ABAP issue necessarily. Further study revealed that the message should say (I think): "received email address _________ does [not] match ESMTP format. So if my deduction is correct my question has changed. Where can I find what how ESMTP format is defined? Also, is there a method to configure this in such a way where these emails are acceptable?  we currently have may examples where the sender address is "SAP System Transaction" or "Training and Development". The method in place now works fine through the internet gateway and mlunxsnd but our desire is to convert to SMTP. Thanks.

  • Why doesn't the Jetpack send SMTP messages?

    Is there anyone out there using a Jetpack to connect to an SMTP mail server?

    I imagine your environment like this based on your description:
    Probe ==?== PC ))) Jetpack ))) VZW ))) smtp.rushmore.com
    Where:
    === = Cable
    ))) = Wireless
    If your probe is connected via Ethernet to your PC then there may be some additional configurations necessary so that your PC can be on both the Ethernet cable network (unless its crossover?) and the Jetpacks WiFi network at the same time. Its not unusual for a PC to have 2 NICs (one wired and one wireless) but connecting to both at the same time is normally frowned on and causes issues.
    Normally an Ethernet cabled device would have to go through a router to exist on the same network as a PC like this:
    Probe === Router === Modem ))) VZW ))) smtp.rushmore.com
    PC ))))))))) Router === Modem ))) VZW ))) smtp.rushmore.com
    The first piece of the puzzle is to determine if your PC can email directly to smtp.rushmore.com or not.  Start here with the usual Ping test and review that you have your email client/application configured correctly.  Any email client would do to confirm a simple smtp email message can be sent/received from the PC.
    If we cannot email to smtp.rushmore.com from the PC over the Jetpack then we need to dig into your PCs email settings and get him working.
    After you confirm the PC can email the smtp server you would need to take a look at how your probe is connecting.  Without any knowledge of what a Sensor Probe 4 device is my first assumption is that your PC is not able to auto forward the email information from the probe to the PC while the PC is also connected via WiFi.  Your cabled network may be properly configured so that everything goes through a central router before hitting the modem.
    Could you shoot me a link to your Security device so I can lookup a manual to see how it works?

  • Get an odd error message submitting half-day vacations

    Hi,
    I've written a web interface tool (php+saprfc) where employees can request vacation dates. Once the request is committed, the entry is forwarded to SAP.
    I use the BAPI_PTMGRATTABS_MNGCREATION which has the following Input fields:
    ABS_ATT_TYPE
    EMPLOYEENUMBER
    SIMULATE
    HRABSATT_IN which contains
    FROM_DATE, TO_DATE, START_TIME, END_TIME, ABS_ATT_HOURS, ALL_DAY_FLAG and PREVIOUS_DAY
    My functions is working properly for whole day vacations, in this case only ABS_ATT_TYPE is set to '0100', FROM_DATE and TO_DATE to the accordings dates all other vars remain empty.
    But now I try to implement the half-day vacations. I set the following values:
    ABS_ATT_TYPE = '0110'
    FROM_DATE and TO_DATE have the same date value
    START_TIME = '080000'
    END_TIME = ''
    ABS_ATT_HOURS = '4,13'  (germany decimal separator)
    ALL_DAY_FLAG = ''  (here, I'm not sure if this should be a 'X' or something)
    Now I get the following error message (I've no idea how to translate this german error message, I hope someone else can provide this?)
    E 12 Für An-/Abwesenheitsart 0110 sind nur untertägige Sätze erlaubt
    Could be something like: 'For absence type 0110 only subsurface records allowed' ??
    I really appreciate any ideas.

    I doubt myself that 'subsurface' is the correct translation of 'untertäig'
    But your were absolutely right with your idea of the 'wrong' starting time.
    Just tried '090000' and now it works. Things can be soo easy )
    I left the END-TIME empty assuming the value would be calculated automatically. But the entry in SAP shows 09:00 - to 17:00 0,88% of a day. I guessed passing the ABS_ATT_HOURS value would be enough.
    I'm going to play with the parameters to figure out which are neccessary in which case.
    Thanks for bringing me back on the right path.

    The message was successfully delivered.
    I have setup an Accepted Domain as Internal Relay, with a Send Connector to deliver any mails if the user is not found in Exchange server.

    Hi All
    I had this issue as well.
    Here is the solution i used to fix this once for all:
    My Environment:
    AD server with private and public NICs
    Exchange Server with Private and Public NICs
    Used a dummy domain (Not owned by me) (ex: corp.com) on Private Network.
    Created accepted domains for the domains that i own on exchange server.
    Issue Cause:
    When an external user (Gmail, hotmail.. etc) sends an email to my accepted domain, as the MX record is pointed to my exchange server on the public IP, the mail flows till my exchange server. Now the transport service on the CAS, hand's over the email to
    Transport Service on the Mail box server. There it goes to the categorizer. Here the DNS look up happens and the next SMTP send service will either hand over the mail to the Mail box or send a Non delivery report stating that a mail box, domain name is not
    found with in itself.
    The issue here is caused by our private DNS where it fails to resolve the internal dummy domain that i used because the resources on the DNS server was completely utilized my memory ballooning in VMware. Ignore the ballooning thing if you do not understand.
    Resolution:
    I created an entry in the C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts file of the exchange server as below:
    mail01.corp.com 192.168.80.132 .i.e., <host name of the exchange server>.<domain prefix>.<domain suffix> <Private IP address of the exchange server>
    I change the secondary DNS on the Private NIC of the exchange server to itself .i.e., 192.168.80.132 and forced it look within itself when the primary DNS does not respond at times.
    Now my exchange server is absolutely stable. It worked for me !
    Hope this post helps you fix the issue or at least help you think a bit ahead.
    To understand more about your scenario, i would suggest you look up the logs at C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\TransportRoles\Logs (if you have not changed the default drectory while instalation) and Frontend Connectivity logs and Mailbox
    connectivity logs. I am sure those logs will help you understand whats going wrong behind the scenes.

  • RE: SMTP Email Client

    Not long time ago I was trying to send an email from within Forte using
    SMTP. And believe it or not it works just fine.
    From what I can tell, Keith, you know the steps to send it, but missingfew concepts in how the SMTP works. It is simple, but not that simple.
    So you know how to create outbound connection (using
    ExternalConnection):
    myConnection.Open ( rcptMailServer.com, 25, NIL,
    CM_ADDR_INTERNET_NAME );
    Once you have that reference you would send a 'HELO' string and wait for
    response, the trick here is to use memoryBuffer to do that, as probably
    you knew that:
    pTextToSend = pTextToSend.concat('\n'); -- be sure to always add
    new line character
    -- send string to the mail server
    aBuffer.Open( SP_AM_READ_WRITE, TRUE );
    aBuffer.WriteText( pTextToSend );
    length = pTextToSend.actualSize;
    aConnection.Write( aBuffer, length );
    aBuffer.Close();
    -- receive response from the mail server
    aBuffer.Open( SP_AM_READ_WRITE, TRUE );
    length = cBufferSize;
    while TRUE do
    aConnection.Read ( aBuffer, length );
    aBuffer.ReadText( lTempText );
    lReceivedText.concat( lTempText );
    if length < cBufferSize then
    exit;
    end if;
    end while;
    aBuffer.Close();
    NOTE: for the first 'HELO' write you need to read the response twice! -
    it will not work promptly otherwise.
    Then using same technique (and code for send/receive) send the following
    (in that order!):
    send('MAIL FROM: <[email protected]>');
    receiveResponse();
    send('RCPT TO: <friend@rcptMailServer>');
    receiveResponse();
    send( 'DATA' );
    receiveResponse();
    send( myMsgString );
    where myMsgString is something like:
    myMsgString : TextData = new();
    myMsgString .concat('From:
    ').concat(pFromAddr).concat('\n');
    myMsgString .concat('To:
    ').concat(pToAddr).concat('\n');
    myMsgString .concat('Cc:
    ').concat(pCcAddr).concat('\n');
    myMsgString .concat('Subject:
    ').concat(pSubject).concat('\n\n'); -- that is here for purpose
    myMsgString .concat(pMsg).concat('\n').concat('.'); --
    the DOT is here for purpose too!
    receiveResponse();
    send( 'QUIT' );
    receiveResponse();
    and finally
    aConnection.Close();
    Well, I do not think there is anythink left, is there? (well there is
    multiple address, files attachment, etc, but I will not go into that).
    So, good luck, hope it helps!

    I seem to be able to create an outbound connection with my server, but
    I
    do not receive any mail. My port setting is 25 which is the port for
    my
    mail system, and I have submitted my address as both host name and ip.
    Has anyone used forte to create an smtp email client?
    I have tested for the following exceptions, but everything seems fine.
    UsageException
    SystemResourceException
    RemoteAccessException
    While testing this app, I built my text file by doing the following:
    CompleteMessage = CompleteMessage.concat('HELO\t');
    CompleteMessage = CompleteMessage.concat('mailhost.myhost.com\r\n');
    CompleteMessage = CompleteMessage.concat('MAIL\t');
    CompleteMessage = CompleteMessage.concat('FROM:
    <[email protected]>\r\n');
    CompleteMessage = CompleteMessage.concat('RCPT\t');
    CompleteMessage = CompleteMessage.concat('TO:
    <[email protected]>\r\n');
    CompleteMessage = CompleteMessage.concat('DATA\r\n');
    CompleteMessage = CompleteMessage.concat('This Is my test
    data!!\r\n');
    CompleteMessage = CompleteMessage.concat('QUIT\r\n');
    The SMTP commands seem to be correct.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

    A problem with whitelisting is that spammers often use your domain or an address as the from address.
    Another method (out of 100s of methods) is to use an alternate smtp port for mail submission and have content filtering on that port disabled. An example, added to master.cf is:
    587 inet n - n - - smtpd
    -o smtpdclientrestrictions=
    -o smtpdrecipient_restrictions=permit_saslauthenticated,reject
    -o content_filter=
    The above removes all client and recip restrictions, only allows sasl_auth users and bypasses the content filter. You could modify other main.cf features specifically for this port and it's users, for example you could specific a larger mailboxsizelimit or require TLS, etc.
    The downside to this... you have no virus checking of outbound mail submitted by your users, the upside is less resource consumption checking every outbound (or local) message submitted and more control over the features of the submission port.

  • Cannot send message using the server (null)

    i use mail 2.1.
    i have a .mac account and have three other email accounts attached to my mail account.
    lately, i cannot send any email.
    the switchiing ports fix hasn't helped either.
    this is the error message:
    CANNOT SEND MESSAGE USING THE SERVER (null)
    The server response was: 5.1.0 <email [email protected]>...
    From address does not match authentication.
    Use the pop-up menu below to try a different outgoing mail server. All messages will use this server until you quit Mail or change your network settings.
    Message from: email <[email protected]>
    Send message using: [there is a combo box here with all the four accounts servers listed]
    no matter which one i pick it doesn't work and no email is sent.
    anyone have this error before? or now how to fix it?
    i'd be appreciative.
    thanks

    I was having a similar problem (don't feel like typing all the details)
    I was about to to delete my com.apple.mail.plist, when finally it hit me.
    I ran ethereal (again, I'm sorry, but learning how to use ethereal is a topic unto itself). Following the TCP stream (ie. looking at the smtp messages being sent back and forth) I came across two problems. For some reason my port number was set to 567 or something like that, when it's supposed to be 25, as I had originally set it to.
    Once I corrected the port number I started receiving an error message from the smtp server. It said the return email address could not be authenticated. (using xyz.com as an example) The correct return email address was supposed to be [email protected], but for some reason it was changed to john@xyz in the account settings.
    Anyway, to get to the point, another thing to check is that your return address has been set correctly, and if all else fails, make sure you have X11 installed and use fink to install and run ethereal. This will let you know if you are actually connecting to the server, and will show you any error messages.
    PS. I think this problem started occurring with the last update made to mail. I believe it somehow corrupted my settings. This would explain how my port number could have been changed to the default port number of .mac mail.

  • Exchange stops receiving SMTP emails when sending large amount of invoices.

    We have an exchange server and a computer with an invoicing program loaded on it. At various times of the month, the invoicing program will go through our database and generate email invoices. The problem comes when we try to send them all at once. (Roughly
    800 invoices) Each email is slightly different and each email only has one destination, but if we try to send more than about 50 at a time the exchange server will receive the first roughly 100 (amount varies) and then not receive the rest though the sending
    app says all messages were sent. I'm sure the issue lays with exchange because we used a simple free smtp mail server program for testing and it received them all without issue.  Is there a place where you set how many SMTP messages the server will
    accept in a single session/connection?  Looking at the queue I can also see that the messages arrive one after another at roughly 2-3 second intervals.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I would check Message Throttling on the Exchange server.  Specifically the Set-ReceiveConnector settings for MaxInboundConnectionPercentagePerSource
    and MaxInboundConnectionPerSource.

  • Error message in portal when manager tries to submit a PCR

    Hi
    I have an unusual / rare case that no-one seems to have come across before in the technical team, where a manager with MSS access is trying to submit a personnel change request to modify an employee's position (just a change in part time hours for the WSR) in the portal. When the manager goes through the action all is fine. At the end when they click on the submit button, they receive the following message which prevents them from sending the PCR:
    There is an error message submitting your request. The error text is:
    Enter a valid date (for example,)
    Has anyone come across such an issue before possibly ? In our test environment we do not encounter the same issue as in production for this manager and so it's a little odd as we are not able to replicate the problem.
    Any assistance would be much appreciated.
    Nicola

    Hello,
    I assume you've checked all the dates entered to see if they are valid, but what dates have been entered (if any)?
    What happens if he tries again, same result?
    Have you tried turning on the debugger to see where it's coming from?
    Also, check the date settings for that user (eg DD.MM.YYYY) to see if they're unexpected.
    OSS Note 1095770 explains that the error message (888 from the message class FK)
    was changed from:
    Enter a valid date (for example, 01.01.1996)
    to:
    Enter a valid date (for example, &)
    and in the code change I see that the variable gets set this way:
    l_date_format(15)   TYPE c.
    WRITE sy-datum TO l_date_format.
    So it would seem that user is having a problem writing sy-datum. Again, check his user settings.
