SMTP working IMAP/POP3 not

Hi,
I changed my IP on my 10.5.8 server. I used changeip to do it right and -checkhostname returns the right IP and hostname. I am running DNS, Mail and Web on the server. All services work but mail. Mail starts up and says it is running but POP and IMAP do not. They say running but I can not get my usual response from "telnet 173.166.41.53 imap" or pop3. SMTP does work fine. One thing on startup is that I notice POP and IMAP go to running state pretty fast, almost immediately. In the past, I thought these took longer. Anyway, I have made and checked all my setting for DNS, etc, domain stevensprograms.org . But that aside, I can't telnet or port scan those ports for IMAP/POP3 secure or not.
I have checked the postconf -n, the main.cf, master.cf, imapd.conf, cyrus.conf. Everything looks okay to me.
Currently I am reconstructing, but I can't believe it is only using 0.1% of my cpu, with 94% idle on that machine. It is taking forever.
Any other help suggestions?
thanks,
mike

Something must have been wrong with the mail database. I reconstructed it, and after about 13hours, my mail seemed to come up as expected, as far as order and speed in Server Admin. It still took about 1.5 hours for things to start working again. re-syncing end user IMAP accounts taking a bit, but working now.
I guess in the end the corrupt database prevented the imap and pop3 services from completely working even though Server Admin said all running.
Thanks,
mike

  • SMTP works, but POP3 fails

I've been a Thunderbird user for around 8-10 years now, and I use it with multiple email accounts. I've run into a configuration issue I've never seen before, and I cannot find a solution (so far).
I changed my broadband ISP from Comcast to Frontier. With Frontier, of course, I get an email account. I can access and use the account just fine via webmail. However, when I manually configure in Thunderbird (autoconfigure produces the wrong settings), password authentication fails,
When I try Advanced Configuration, SMTP works, but POP3 fails.
I contacted Frontier support to verify the correct settings. They are as follow:
    POP3: pop3.frontier.com, SSL/TLS, Port 995
    SMTP: smtp.frontier.com, SSL/TLS, Port 465
I'm using full email address for the user name. He double-checked the password on the POP3 server, and it's correct. I also disabled my firewall, but it didn't help.
I'm perplexed as to why SMTP should work but not POP3.
    They do not support IMAP.
    Any ideas, anyone?

  • SSL Portal for IMAP, POP3, SMTP?

    Hello,
is it possible to offer with an UAG SSL Portal a preauthentication for IMAP, POP3 and SMTP?
If yes, any How to's out there?
Edit: I know that TMG is able to offer that but is there preauthentication used?
    Grüße/Regards, Jens Klein

    Hi,
No, UAG does not support (as in does not work) any other ports than 80 and 443.

  • Enable SAP Inbound email through IMAP, POP3 & MAPI instead of SMTP

    Hi,
I am trying to configure SAP Inbound email in CRM 6.0 and would like to know if I can use IMAP, POP3 or MAPI instead of SMTP due to our company's legal policies and maintenance purposes.
If there is a way, please let me know how to?
I have checked other options but none of them talk about IMAP, POP3 or MAPI

As far as I am aware, SMTP is now the only supported option for configuring inbound emails through the SAPConnect interface into the Interaction Center agent inbox.

    Hi jodilynnf,
When using Connection Doctor to see what is could be causing the issue, look for the red dots to let you know what is wrong. Then all you have to do is correct that information. You can double click on the section that is giving you issue and it will take you there. Most issues could be just password being entered incorrectly. Take a look at the article below to walk you through troubleshooting issues with Mail.

I can't set up gmail in my iPad 2. Keep on saying ' can't connect with SSL and ask me whether to connect without using SSL, then I press 'yes' and it said again IMAP is not working and tell me to see network connection and incoming mail server. No idea how to do anymore. Already tried to figure out. But not work. Can anyone pls help me?

Nope, doesn't pass verification. I get the spinner for a minute or so, then the alert about setting it up without SSL. Are you suggesting I disable Fetch and Push BEFORE I enter the account details? Because I never get past the account details screen, unless I choose "Set up without SSL" after the warning.

  • How to disable Outlook for checking for IMAP/POP3 Certificate Name Mismatch?

I have outlook clients that are connected to an IMAP/POP3 server that's off-site provided by company A.
Company A requires me to enter imap.companya.com for imap server address and 993 for the port.
I must also enable SSL for the connection.
When I do this, Outlook pops up an error message (shown below), that must be reacted to every time it checks for mail.
The reason is that the certificate is for myserver.companya123.com and that's different than imap.companya.com but company A wont change it. They said I need to disable my email programs certificate check so it doesn't keep prompting
me. Now I can do this with my iphone, and other email programs without incident. But I cannot find where to disable it in outlook.
If I change the imap server address in my account settings for outlook to instead use myserver.company a123.com, outlook can't connect and as the vendor said I must use imap.companya.com as the imap server address.
I need to be able to connect via SSL (so nobody can swipe my password over the wire) but not have to react 1000x a day to the certificate warnings.
I don't want to use Eudora, or another email client that allows me to easily disable the warning. I want to use outlook. How do I set outlook so it doesn't keep popping up these certificate server name mismatch warnings?
I spent days searching for a fix, and it seems there are fixes via the registry for just about every type of certificate issue, but NOT THIS PARTICULAR ONE.
I am hoping someone knows exactly what I am talking about and knows of a easy fix. I must use SSL so please don't tell me to disable SSL.
What I need is to disable outlook from presenting that alert. That's what I need to do. No other solution will suffice. I hope outlook does not have a product limitation that prevents such a thing from being done. I am ok with a registry fix if need be, but
being able to disable outlook from presenting certificate name mismatch alerts is critical. Hope its possible! Thanks!

    Hi,
I would suggest we try the registry key mentioned in this
article (Method 4) to configure Outlook to allow the connection to the mismatched domain name, and see if it works:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\<var>xx</var>.0\Outlook\AutoDiscover\RedirectServers
Let me know if this doesn't work.

  • Comcast IMAP Email Not Syncing on MacBook Pro

I recently had my comcast pop account switched over to IMAP with their beta trial and it worked with my iPad and iPhone (I had it switched over before I got a MacBook) and now the emails won't sync form my Mac, just my iPhone and iPad (still). Any help as to why? I set up the same email account on my iPhone and iPad, but the emails don't sync. Don't tell me comcast doesn't support IMAP because they have a beta trial and it works perfectly between my iPad and iPhone. Thanks in advance!

OK I am really hoping to switch my Comcast POP3 to IMAP. My comcast account has never been on my ipad since I hate deleting a zillion emails in all places.
I found this link. You have to request to be migrated. You do so at the following link.
    https://xcsignup.comcast.net/onboardingapps/imap
I have set up my ipad for my comcast account with settings as shown above using imap.... as the incoming mail server.  Sending mail works fine.  I assume once enough time has passed (been 5 mins at this point) my ipad will just start getting the comcast mail.  I'll post if it works. For now its says the imap server is not responding.
I tricked mail into allowing me to set it up as IMAP by not using any comcast settings and then simply editied them.

  • IMAP email not syncing

    hy
Yesterday I have upgraded my phone from 5s to 6
and I've encountered a strange problem. One of my imap email accounts
which sink completely with my iPhone 5S with iOS 8.1,
seems to not pay forward anything I commend for my iPhone meaning
though it downloads my email as usual, when I try to erase and email or have it sent to a folder it does not apply
soon I let the email account sync again it will download again all the emails I have erased  or moved like I did nothing
has this ever happened to someone?

  • N72 e-mail push work and personal not working

    To Whom It May Concern:
As of Friday of last week I have been unable to push e-mail to my phone either through my works account (POP3) or Yahoo, via IMAP.

Is there issues with Nokia messaging??

Guys, please, let us continue there …
By the way, if do you really want Nokia Messaging? If you enter a email address like [email protected], you are able to access the native (direct, without proxy) email client.

  • Works for Cell, Not for Computer

My Gmail address works fine on Droid, but only partially on my Mac. On my cell I can send and receive. On my computer the Gmail only works on send, not on receive. Mail makes it clear that my outgoing message cannot be sent because a connection can not be made with my Gmail server (pop.gmail.com). None the less the email goes through to the intended recipient. Email initiated on my cell addressed to my Gmail address is only received on my cell. Connection Doctor says Outgoing server is connected, and that Incoming is not. Gmail address had previously worked on Mail. It stopped.
I have tried every nuance in the Mail Gmail settings, to no avail. It is impossible to get any guidance from Google, and from Apple Mail for that matter (from previous experience). Any ideas?

Thanks for your thoughtful reply. No improvement. In addition to Gmail address, POP and Smtp addresses now show as unconnected in Connection Doctor.
Verizon set up my Gmail address on my cell, and the Gmail address appeared on my computer without my having to enter any information. Is Google Account password and Gmail password (necessarily, always) the same? How do I access my Gmail settings in Google account?
Would it be simpler for me just to go back to Verizon and have them set up a new Gmail address, cancel the original account and give me in writing all of the information?

  • SMTP and IMAP ACE Probe configuration Example

    Hi,
Could someone share he SMTPS and IMAPS probe setting configuration in CISCO ACE 4710 for my reference.
I have two server 10.1.1.58 and 10.1.1.59 which supposed to be load balaced for the service 993 and 465.
    Regards
    BR

    Hello There,
The ACE has built-in scripted probes in order to check connectivity beyond layer 4 with these kinds of mail servers but only for the unencrypted versions SMTP/IMAP.
In your case since you're working with these protocols over SSL/TLS, you'll need to configure regular TCP probes for each serverfarm so reachability will be test'd based on TCP port.
    probe tcp IMAPS-993
      port 993
      interval 5
      faildetect 2
      passdetect interval 3
      passdetect count 1
      open 1
    probe tcp SMTPS-464
      port 465
      interval 5
      faildetect 2
      passdetect interval 3
      passdetect count 1
      open 1

  • 3 different smtp accounts, 1 will not send

I've read and tried to find an answer to no avail.
I have three accounts set up in Mail. One is my employer. One is an independent client and the third is gmail. All received and sent except that my employer smtp will not send. Our IT help has provided me three different smtp servers to use with all the options of passwords or no passwords, port numbers etc. Nothing has worked. It's puzzling that only this one account is affected. Any help will be appreciated.
    MacBookPro17   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   2.16 GHz, 2GB RAM

Yes. Our ISP's server worked fine the first week. Then I worked from home the second week. This is when the problem started. I subscribe to the same ISP as my employer. I tried deleting the account and adding it back first. When that didn't solve it, we tried two other smtp servers. None worked.
Additional note, if I click "try again later" when it prompts to try another smtp, it will eventually send after prompting me for this. But, that's regularly been 2-3 hours later after several "try again laters".
