Smudging difficulty in Adobe PS CS4 Extended

Hi, Good day to all PS users...
I am new in asking help here, i apologize for that matter...
As the title says, I am having difficulty in using Smudge in Adobe PS CS4 Extended. I am currently trying this tutorial:

I have successfully done 3 images on that tutorial but when I tried the tutorial for the 4th time, it could not smudge anymore. Certainly I have tried some basic troubleshooting hoping that it will fix the bug (saving the file and Restarting PS, restarting my computer) but it still couldn't do anything.
I have thoughts of asking the tutorial owner regarding this matter but I have doubts since I believe that there is a high possibility that it is the program itself which is malfunctioning.

Try resetting the tool from the drop-down menu next to the tool icon top left in the Options bar.

Can I use Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended on my brand new iMac? I had PS on my old Mac using the student licensing.

About four years ago, I purchased Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended while I was in undergrad. I downloaded it to my Mac. Since then, I've purchased a brand new iMac. Can I use this same software? I know it's been four years so the software is very updated, AND my new iMac does NOT have a cd drive. This may all be in vain. I'm just clueless! Thanks!

Adobe Photoshop cs4 extended invalid serial number

I just bought adobe photoshop cs4 extended from a large retail computer store.I had the trial version of photoshop cs4 extended.I uninstalled the trial version and installed from dvd.I got a Invalid serial number error.I am sure there was a software configuration problem .The reason ,the disk needs to verfy that you have the original disk,If that happens ,After installation ,Just delete this file C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe PCD\cache\cache.db This is the location where it installed the serial . After deleteing it will create a new cache.db file and store the serial there that goes with that disk . When you open PS cs4 it will ask to enter serial again.Just enter the serial again that came with box ..I guess this would work also with adobe photoshop cs4

I encountered the same problem with Photoshop CS5 - I had the trial version installed, and now bought the extended version, but it keeps saying the license key is invalid. I did unistall, ran the cleanup tool, but it is still not working. Any help is appreciated.

I can't install Adobe Photoshop CS4 extended at all

I downloaded Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended (Trial Version) from the Adobe.com website through Akamai downloader. Well, i tried to install it clicking on the set up, but it started to install and a few minutes later stopped and displayed a error message. The message, without error code identifications, just informed that there was an error during the instalation and Adobe bridge and another one could not be installed.
I tried again and it started, but when it was almost finishing another message appeared warning that "there was an error during the instalation(again no code error identification) and that Photoshop could not be installed.
I follow some tips like shutting down the firewall, AV, but it didn't work. I used the system restoring so that i could completely clean up remaining files and tried to reinstall it, but again nothing.
Has anybody any idea?

I know that John, when i said that i usually run the system as administator, i meant that i logged on as administrator. Sorry if i caused a misunderstood.
I decided to format the computer again. Perhaps, some problem during the system instalation may have caused this problem. After that, i'll try to install it and see what's gonna happen. I've decided to do it because If it is caused by an instalation error of the main system, it may also cause hassles when using other softwares. But if it is not caused by an instalation error i'll come back to get help.

Deploying Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended over Network - issue

Hi all,
I'm hoping anyone can help me with this issue that has plagued me for a few weeks! First of all, here's the details I have:
* Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended - downloaded media from Adobe website
* Creative Suite Deployment Toolkit - again, downloaded from Adobe website
* Installing to Windows XP with SP3
I ran Creative Suite Deployment Toolkit and set it up including our Volume Licensing key and it output some files including the XML files. I double clicked the AdobeUberInstaller.exe file and it got installed without any issue.
However, when I ran it as silent install via our SMS, it always get stuck at Adobe AIR install with the install log from
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Installers\Adobe Photoshop CS4 11.0 09-02-2009.log
with this at the end of the log file:

I have left it more than hour. I also have left it all day, the log file is always full of it. I even "told" Creative Suite Deployment Toolkit not to install Adobe AIR and it still tries to install it anyway. I checked the AdobeUberInstaller.xml file and it has <Action>donotinstall</Action> marked for Adobe AIR. So I'm not even sure why it's trying to install it.
This happens on a PC that has Adobe AIR installed. I tried on another PC where it doesn't have Adobe AIR installed and I still get the same thing.
I'm running out of ideas how to get this to work and this is why I'm here to seek further help from you... help?
Has anyone seen this issue before and if so, what was the fix to get it to work?

Hi all,
I received this e-mail from Adobe, so I thought I'd share this with you all for future ref.
Air needs to contact Adobe to get a certificate.   I would recommend not installing this as part of the suite and push out seperately. At any rate, if you AIR remotely, you will need to set the proxy to allow for the certification process. The other option might to create a snapshot of Air with the certificate already in place.

Setting the Bleed in Adobe Photoshop Cs4 Extended

I have been to the page in support where it points to the window that pops up after you click the print button. I do not see anything on that window that has anything to do with a bleed. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Since I found the answer to my question from a friend and not here I figured posting the answer might be of use to someone who is having the same trouble finding it as me. For my current version Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended I found the place to add a bleed in the tab Image>Canvas Size.

Unable to renew Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended

I had just complete the trial version of Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended Version 11.0 . I wanted to renew the subscription, however whenever i launch the program, i immediately get a box saying your "licensing for this product has expire." Is there anyway i can renew?

Im not sure if u get wat my problem really is, it seems that theres some corrupted files or something causing a malfunction in the software. The program either pop out a terms and condition, and whenever i click agree nothing happens or the error message i had state earlier, i ran the CCleaner and it seems to have resolve everything. Anyway thanks for taking time in reading my problem.
Answering back i didnt get it from e-bay so rest assured not ripped off. :)

I would think that Adobe would have a list of authorized re-sellers. If not, then contact their International Sales Dept., and inquire. That should get you a list.

It depends what you need to upgrade to. You probably cannot upgrade CS4 to a newer Creative Suite because it is most often no longer in the upgrade path. Usually CS5 is the minimum in the path, and the only upgrade that you could get is for CS6 since Adobe does not sell older versions.
If you would like to join the Creative Cloud then you should be able to upgrade to the special introductory plan they have for Creative Suite owners.

Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended, owned for ages, licensing for this product has expired? Was using it two months ago.

I have been trying to get Adobe's help for over a month now. I've been on the phone twice to them, opened up three seperate cases and still arrived at no solution. I was bought Photoshop CS4 Extended awhile ago and use it for my studies (I'm an art student). Two months ago my harddrive on my computer failed and I had to have a new laptop. I went to reinstall Photoshop and "Licensing for this product has expired" comes up. I've uninstalled, inreinstalled many times and used Microsoft Fix It Programme for uninstalling to make sure all the files are gone.
Surfing the forums I learned that there should be a folder with back up and Adobe PCD but I don't have that folder at all. The serial number I use is my original serial number that I know works and adobe have even said it's a technical error. What do I do? College starts again in two weeks and I don't have the programme I use for it!

Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended - Trial Version Expired

Can someone help me please. I have searched the forums but I cannot find a solution.
I installed the Photoshop CS4 extended trial which expired a few weeks ago. In the meantime I have purchased a copy of Photoshop CS4 (Standard not Extended). I completed removed the trial but I am unable to installed the purchased copy. I am getting the trial expired serial input screen.
I have also tried the unistall with REVO but this has not made any difference.
I have tried to use the Adobe cleanup but I dont think its worked properly. I am running Windows 7 Operating System.
I have uninstalled/installed photoshop 5 times now and its driving me mad

There is no problem such as you describe. If you buy a legitimate standard edition license, you can enter that serial number and the trial version will be activated as the standard edition.
Where did you get this copy of Photoshop CS4?
If not directly from Adobe, there's a chance you were scammed and your serial number isn't valid at all. Photoshop is heavily pirated.

Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended

I am trying to install Photoshop CS4 extended on my computer running Vista Business without unistalling Photoshop CS3 extended.
The installation installed Photoshop CS4, Adobe media, adobe air, Bridge etc but failed to install other components such as language pack.
The installation failed even if I stop Adobe Acrobat Sppedrun and other Adobe software.
Can someone tell me if I have to uninstall CS3 before installing PS CS4 Extended

What error message appeared when the installation was failed ? Is there by any chance some antivirus running on the system ? i would recommend you to close all open application , stop antivirus and then try to install.

Installing from a corrupt adobe photoshop cs4 extended

I was gifted cs4 extended and when trying to install it says the database is corrupt. Called Adobe but they do not support this anymore and suggested I go to this forum. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? artzy

R_Kelly, I have been working on this problem and tried to find the caps db by searching and nothing appeared. I found caps dll and renamed it to xcaps.dll in both Premiere Ele. and Photshop Elements. Still the problem appeared. I have now uninstalled both programs as Photoshop cs4 is not installed at all. Restarted the computer and tried to install again, same problem. I then ran the cleaner that was suggested also did a disk cleanup. Nothing seems to be helping.
