Smybian^3 devices Suggestion to be Quicker Loading...

I want to give suggestion in further symbian^3 updates please look forward to make loading to be quicker and scrolling needs to be smoother currently I feel scrolling looks a bit lagy and some apps really takes ages like 2 or 3 or more sec. load at time of execution like gallery while refreshing media and other apps that takes time to load and user time is wasted for loading. These small things can enhance user experience. I’m sure that Nokia would look forward to this suggestion. I have already sumbited this to Nokia but i would like to see comments of you people as Nokia family.

Quick load jar files?

I have an application that uses a bunch of .jar files (BIRT framework for eclipse). The first time I run this application I takes almost forever, but the second time it runs very fast. I assume its because all the jarfiles are loaded the first time. But is it possible to create a quick loader of some kind that loads the program before its actually run the first time?

You have to make a URLClassloader that points to inside the JAR files. GThis question has come up several times in the past week, so a quick search will provide a couple of working solutions.
Note that if you plan on calling methods from classes in the plugin jars, they should either implement an interface or extend an class that you know and can import during compile time, or provide some method of identifying what method needs to run and what that method's arguments are so that you can use reflection.
I belive these things are also alluded to in the recent threads.

I have a macbookpro. when I connect any camera to the mac it does not show as a device. How do I load my pictures to either iPhoto or Aperture? It worked before but just stopped working. Any suggestions?

Here is the full story. It may be long so please bear with me. I take a lot of pictures and movies. Since I have over 30,000 pictures I decided to place the Iphoto library on an external drive to save space on my internal drive since ot was getting very full. After I did that it worked fine for a while. Then one day I could not open the Iphoto library. Since I was overseas at the time I brought it to the IStudio ( not an Istore) overseas. They said to rebuild the library and they would do that for me. It took all day since I had so many pictures. When they called me and told me it was ready, I went to pick it up. They started to show me the new library. It crashed again. Not knowing how to fix this at the ISudio, they installed Aperture and imported the Iphoto library. This worked fine for a short time.When back in the states, it crashed again just like Iphoto. I took it to the IStore. They did not know why the overseas Istudio did what they did what they did and rebuilt my aperture library. Again it worked fine. Now that I am overseas again. It crashed again. However, I concluded that the reason for these crashes is becuase I have the file on an external drive that derives its power from the Mac and not by itself. When I use it and stop for a while the MAC will go to sleep and this cuases the external drive to shut down. This then causes the library to have inconsistancies. Therefore, when it happened this time I tried to repair the library and after 36 hours it would close down Aperture. Therefore I decided to rebuild the library. That did not work either. So I tried opening the Aperture library with Iphoto. That seemed like it was going to work but after importing half of the 30,000 plus pictures. I photo shut down. I then made a new aperture libary and erged the old library with it. This worked. I now have an aperture library that works. However, when I plug my camera into the MAC nothing happens. The camera does not show up in devices in either Aperture, I photo nor in Finder. The USB port and cord I use works fine becuase I can read my external hard drives fine. I checked as SIG suggested in this thread and everything is set to open aperture when the camera is connected.
I have the newest OS version 10. 7. 2 and the computer frequently updates all my programs. I have not installed any ne software lately. The problem happens both if I am on battery or plugged in. Just before I came overseas the IStore replaced the Battery. I can go back to the IStudio here overseas but the last time I was there and told them about the problem ( I did not have my computer with me) they did not impress me with their wisdom. I will be back in that city in a month and can go there if need be. Thanks for all the help so far. God bless.

The file iTunes Library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes. I have removed iTune n the all the relevent apple programs and Quick time and in the order suggested , and reinstalled Quick time n iTunes and back to square

HT1923 I had to reinstall Itunes due to "runtime error" and the instructions said to run as administrator. I did that but I'm getting a message about administrator rights to my mobile device and it won't load. What do I do now?

Show device and media in Photo-loader, Iphoto, Preview

Hello,
I'm new to the " mac World" and I can say I'm very excited about my new imac with snow leopard on it !
Have however one small problem (??)
Fact is that, if I connect either a digital Camera, a Camcorder or just a SD card using the external card reader, it takes a long time (approx. a minute and a half) before Iphoto, or photo-loader or preview show the connected device. (In photo-loader it takes another minute before the media is shown)
The device shows on the desktop instantly after connection, problem is only in photo-loader, Preview and/or iphoto.
Resolution etc doesn't effect the time, tried it already with lower picture resolution. It seems to be the recognition of the devices thats very slow.
Is this normal behavior or is there something wrong ?
Anyone experience the same ??

Hi Franz & welcome to the forums.
It seems to be the recognition of the devices thats very slow.
All I can tell you is that the common denominator with those sources is apparently USB, which is typically the slowest bus on your computer.
Not sure what you can do except to try to use at least USB2 devices. All it takes is one older USB 1 type device on the bus to slow things down. How old is your digital camera? Card reader? Camcorder? USB camcorders are usually quite slow for file transfers, in my experience.
For me, the delay seems minimal. I can however, imagine it taking as long as you quote if the number of images is considerable, in which case your example would seem typical.

Quick loading JPEG images

Is there any way to load images quicker than with "Image image = new Image(shell.getDisplay(), fileName);"?
I have tried using AWT, Swing and now using SWT. I tried JAI and so but still load times are higher than what I need.
I need to load high res pictures, but the actual load times of about 800ms make my program unusable for its purpose, I would need something between 100 and 200ms for 1280x1024 JPEGs (it is possible in C++ and other languages, but I'm having a really hard time optimizing it in Java).

1)For example,Table emp3 has :

2)Make a file,test.ctl has this code:
load data
infile 'test.dat'
append
into table emp3
fields terminated by ','
(id,external_filename filler,
opa1 lobfile(external_filename)
terminated by eof)
3)Make a file,test.dat has :
1001,a.jpg
1002,b.jpg
1003,c.jpg
1004,d.jpg
..............( u can use perl to find out all the filename )
4)in the windows cmd,type:
c:\winnit> sqlldr userid=system/manager control=test.ctl
it will install all the jpg into ur database(don't forget to open ur database first !?)

WIN 7 : Not able to access(CreateFile failed) winusb device if inbox driver is loaded

Hello ALL,
CreateFile API is failed with ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND, when winusb comes with composite device.
Description:
i have two Custom winusb devices which supports MS-OS descriptor with the Microsoft DeviceInterfaceGUID ({b35924d6-3e16-4a9e-9782-5524a4b79bac}).
Two custom devices are,
1. USB Composite Device - (Winusb + CDC interface) - CreateFile API got Failed.
2. Winusb Device - CreateFile API got Passed.
So when i insert the composite device into machine, driver loaded automatically from online. But the CreateFile API got failed.
I gottah chance to analyze using WINOBJ tool.

I could see that, when the inbox driver is loaded to the composite device,
Symbolic Link was not shown in
WINOBJ tool. Thats why CreateFile API was failed.
When the inbox driver is loaded to the Non Composite device, Symbolic Link showed in WINOBJ tool. Link was created automatically.
To fix this problem,
I created test signed winusb driver with specific HARDWARE id's, then i loaded that driver for the device, it started working.
Some More findings:
1. If i connect my device under Intel EHCI/xHCI controller with microsoft controller driver, above problem did not occur.
2. Problem only comes when the device is connected under Intel xHCI controller with intel controller driver.

Could you please anyone help what could be the reason for symbolic link was not created if the winusb device comes with composite device?
Because i cannot go with test signed drivers.

For reference: Rich (client) is referring to Site Confidence which is a monitoring system that checks to see if the OnDemand service is available. If it is not available the system flags this to the client. In this instance the monitor is pointing to the new service we’ve recently installed – but this service is not being “kept awake” by the Load Balancer tool so is sometimes slow to respond. This is only the case at nights or when the system is not being used. We are tomorrow morning changing the Load Balancer to point to the new service so this problem will disappear after that.

HT201302 so i have an ipod and i am trying to import the pictures from my library to my macbook using iPhoto, i went into iphoto and i can see my device but it keeps saying loading and it hasnt done anything, i can not see my images, what to do now?

Need suggestions for imporving data load performance via SQL Loader

Hi,
Our requirement is to load 512 (1 GB each) files in Oracle database.
We are using SQL loaders to load files into the DB (A partitioned table) and have tried almost all the possible options that come with sql loaders (Direct load path, parallel=true, multithreading=true, unrecoverable)
As the tables is growing bigger in size, each file load time is increasing (It started with 5 minutes per file and has reached 2 hours per 3 files now and is increasing with every batch- Note we are loading 3 files concurrently on the target table using the parallel = true oprion of sql loader)
Questions 1:
My problem is that somehow multithreading is not working for us (we have multi CPU server and have enabled multithreading=true). Could it be something to do with DB setting which might be hindering the data load to be done in multiple threads?
Question 2:
Would gathering stats on the target table and it's partitions help improve load performance ? I'm not sure if stats improve DML's, they would definitely improve sql queries. Any thoughts?
Question 3:
What would be the best strategy to gather stats on this table (which would end up having 512 GB data) ?
Question 4:
Do you think insertions in a partitioned table (with growing sizes) would have poor performance as compared to a non-partitioned table ?
Any other suggestions to improve performace are most welcome !!

2 hours to load just 3 GB of data seems unreasonable regardless of the SQL Loader settings. It seems likely to me that the problem is not with SQL Loader but somewhere else.
Have you generated a Statspack/ AWR/ ASH report to see where all that time is being spent? Are there triggers on the table? Are there bitmap indexes?
Is your table partitioned in a way that is designed to improve the efficiency of loads so that all the data from one file goes into one partition? Or is data from each file getting inserted into many different partitions.

Trackball or shuttle device suggestions..

I hate using a mouse for editing with FCP, so I'm looking to buy a good track ball. However, I really liked using shuttle devices with Media 100, Lightworks, and Avid, so I was wondering if there were any good (and cheap) shuttle devices for FCP.
Any suggestions of good track balls or shuttle devices would be greatly appreciated. In the past, I've preferred using large ball track balls to the smaller ball ones... seems to make small and large moves smoother.

Ipod classic 7 gen, windows 7 32bit won't install usb driver. in device manager, exclaimation mark under other devices, it says no driver loaded.

I have uninstalled any programs that looked starge or might be causing conflict.
uninstalled everythign to do with itunes or apple, rebnooting and diong a fresh install.
my older ipod works fine.
updated intel usb chipset drivers.
i have tried any instructinos i can find online.
I tried updating the "ipod" driver in device manager, I point it to c:\windows\system32
it gives me a starge message saying it can't install the mass storage device, somethign is wrong . . . .

Do NOT open the computer and detach the sensor. There’s no reason to. Here is the complete method for disabling the sensor:
Move (do not delete) the following extensions to a different location (a new folder outside the extensions folder). You’ll find them in your system/extensions folder:
* IOI2CControllerPMU.kext
* IOI2CLM7x.kext
* AppleLM7x.kext
* Extensions.kextcache
* Extensions.mkext
Once moved, restart, and that little sensor will be disabled.

Saving Images for Quick Load

I have several images (too many in my opinion) that are on
one page. The page seems to take a long time to load. How should I
be saving the images. Some are just gradients and patterns others
are images, and others are images with text. I know there is some
trick so if anyone could help I'd appreciate it.

size and
weight of your pattern backgrounds (1000x1000 @ 234K, and
1200x1100 @ 284K).
Why are you using what appear to be duplicate images, and why
do you not
tile this background instead of bogging the page down with
these big ones?
