Snapping Ruler Origin To Element

Arghh....once again I'm completely and utterly frustrated by the inability of an Adobe product to execute a simple and logical task. All I want to do is snap the ruler origin to the left edge of a box I'm working on. So I drag the origin over to the edge in question and it snaps into place. Great! Oh but what's this....I drag out a guide and snap it to the edge of the box in question. Instead of showing 0px as the location for the guide, it's showing 1px. I've been fiddling around with this for ages trying to move the origin back one pixel but it just will NOT land on the element edge. I can move it 1px to the left and 1px to the right but not dead on. Surely this is a (very annoying) bug?

Are you referring to Dreamweaver?

  • Creation of settlement rules for WBS element

    Hi,
Iam having problem when creating the settlement rules for WBS elements. The business goes like this.
We have XI interface which creates the Idocs and an inbound program(customized) to process the Idocs. When the Inbound program is run the WBS elements are created and settlement rules are created for the WBS elements. The inbound program is run automatically thru batch job.
First time when the Idocs are processed about 95% of the WBS elements have settlement rules created and for other 5% settlement rules are not created. The Idoc is in status 64. I tried reprocessing the Idoc and then the settlement rules are getting created succussfully. The problem is Iam not able to find why the Inbound program is not processing succusfully when its run first time but works when reprocessed.
I appreciate if anyone can send their views.
    Best Regards
    SK

    Hi!
You might set the processing to check not only once the relevant IDocs, but more times...
Check out these programs, and set them into a batch job periodically...

  • Text Formatting Rules for sibling elements

How would you edit the EDD Text format rules of an element repeated several times after one sibling optional element? For example, you have the following elements, it's children, and their formats:
    1. TASK (with Title)
       A. TOPIC (w/ Title)
          (1) SUBTASK (w/ Title)
          (2) SUBTASK (w/ Title)
          (3) SUBTASK (w/ Title)
Now, if the TOPIC Title elelment is not used, I need the Subtasks to appear as follows:
    1. TASK (with Title)
TOPIC (w/o Title) (TOPIC element still present)
            A. SUBTASK (w/ Title)
            B. SUBTASK (w/ Title)
            C. SUBTASK (w/ Title)
How would you write that in the EDD? Which element would I edit? The Subtask? Or, the Title?
I've tried several combinations in the Text format rules and subrules using different context specifications like {notfirst}, {after Title}, {first}, etc., but I can't seem to make it work. Anyone familiar with the ATA iSPEC 2200 will recognize the formatting.
    Wes

    Wes,
My take on this problem is that the numbering has to be consistent across the entire manual, so that you don't change the numbering format of a child if the parent has no title. There are several reasons for this including:
The Topic is still there so it should be numbered, even if it has no title
Building cross reference formats that work becomes impossible if the autonumbers change according to the use of titles. This is because at some point you will need to cross ref to autonumbers with underscore which has to be coded into the cross ref format.
There are five different structures that can be considered legal for formatting purposes according to iSpec 2200. But it is essential that the chosen structures are used throughout an AMM, CMM or any other document. It is very easy to mix the structures in ways that can cause confusion later in the publication process. To avoid this I have used additional advisory formatting (e.g. bright red text) that only gets applied if you put the wrong structures together.
The ATA numbering system needs all the help it can get to remain manageable...
To give the topic an autonumber use a First Paragraph rule in the EDD. That will apply the autonumber to the title if it's there or any other element if it is missing.
I hope some of this helps

  • WBS settlement to AUC - use original cost elements?

    Hello gurus
We have an allocation structure which settles project WBS costs to AUC.
The issue is that it is using a single settlement cost element for all the costs going to the AUC.
I notice there is a tick box 'by cost element' in the 'Allocation structure:settlement cost elements' entry for FXA.
What is the result of using this tick box?
We would like the original cost elements in the WBS to be credited rather than the single one.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks everyone

    Hi
    - we do not have secondary cost elements posted
    - we do not use budget checking
As I said, we would like the original cost elements against the WBS to be credited. The single one is causing problems because it posts in total to 55291 (as in the configuration) which does not reconcile back to the many cost elements posted to the WBS.
    Is this possible?
What is the effect of the check box 'by cost element' as we do not understand the help text on this checkbox field and are not sure if this could solve the problem (or there is a downside to using this). If this is not possible we would like to know as well.
    Thanks all

  • Paste in place according to ruler origin in CS5?

In CS3 I could paste from a 3" x 4" document setting the ruler origin wherever I wanted it, and then paste in front to an 8.5" X 11" or whatever and it would paste according to where the ruler origin was set in each of the documents.
Now it ignores the ruler completely and goes by the document size...it will paste in the top left of the letter size document regardless of where the origin is. This makes it incredibly difficult to update my prepress files with new text or whatever from a designer.
I have to be able to set the point of reference for pasting. The way we work on things it will become too much of a time waster to use CS5 if there isn't a work around. Any ideas?

    Adelaney, Jose,
"So it has been changed according to so many request and no one spoke up against such a change not even once that I can recall."
Hmm...for some reason Douglas Adams springs to mind:
"There’s no point acting all surprised about it. All the planning  charts and demolition orders have been on display in your local planning
department in Alpha Centauri for fifty of your Earth years, so you’ve  had plenty of time to lodge any formal complaint and it’s far too late  to start
making a fuss about it now."

The subject has been up before, but no one thought of presenting the crucial evidence. Thank you for it, Adelaney.

    But there is still hope:
To change the ruler origin in CS5 to be the same as in CS4 and earlier, you may:
    1)   Find and open the AIPrefs (Win speak) or Adobe Illustrator Prefs (Mac   speak) file; it is a hidden file in the hidden folder Adobe Illustrator   CS5 Settings
2): Find and change the following two bits of code:
    /isRulerOriginTopLeft 1 >>> /isRulerOriginTopLeft 0 (change 1 to 0)
    /isRulerIn4thQuad 1 >>> /isRulerIn4thQuad 0 (change 1 to 0)
Note: This is a global change.

  • ■To restore the default ruler origin in JavaScript?

Is it possible to restore the default ruler origin by JS? In the UI I just double-click the upper-left corner where the rulers intersect.
    Thanks

There is a command to change to the Global rulers. After this change, your script still works, but I see this command only in the UI and not in JavaScript documentation. What is worse, I cannot add this command to the Action script either.

  • Capitalization of an investment order/project - Original cost elements

    Hi all,
I do have a question concerning the capitalization of an investment order/investment project onto an asset under construction (AuC).
I have configured the system in a way, using capitalization key and capitalization versions, that I can capitalize 100 % of the costs within the IFRS depreciation area to the AuC and 0 % of the costs within my local gaap depreciation area to the AuC.
Instead of capitalizing the costs within the local gaap depreciation area, the cost are booked to the u201CAccount for capitalization differences/nonoperating expensesu201D.
With the settlement of the investment order/investment project to the AuC the original cost accounts/cost elements (shared between IFRS and local gaap) are credited and the AuC is debited for the IFRS deprecation area and the u201CAccount for capitalization differences/nonoperating expensesu201D is debited for the local gaap depreciation area.
My problem is, that I do not want to have the costs for my local gaap P&L on the u201CAccount for capitalization differences/nonoperating expensesu201D, I do want to have them instead on the corresponding local gaap cost accounts/cost elements to  the original shared cost accounts/cost elements within FI and CO.
Is there any possibility to do this within SAP Standard?
(If possible the solution should also work within New GL, using multiple ledgers for parallel accounting instead of different account)
    Thank you!
    Regards

    Hi Prad,
    I am on 4.6C/D.
Please check on your settings for Capitalization of AUCs created through Investment Support Measures: -
    1. Go to the IMG, Asset Accounting under Special Valuation and determine the Depreciation Areas you would like your Investment Support Measures to post to.
    2. Still in Special Valuation, define an Investment Support Key and assign it to the relevant depreciation area
    3. Also, define the relevant account determination for such posting under the Special Valuation
    4. Proceed in the same area to define the Transaction type for the Investment Support Measure by changing any of the Standard ones in there in line with your requirements
    5. Now move back to IMG, Asset Accounting then Master Data. Here you go to the screen layout and pick the relevant asset class for AUCs. Get this logical feild group and pick on the item Investment Support. Proceed to define its feild group rule as optional at the required asset maintenance level (Main Asset and/or Sub Level)
    6. Leave the IMG and access the relevant AUC's Master Data from the User Menu. Click the tab Investment Support and insert the Investment Support Key you created in note 2 above
    7. Now capitalise the AUC. Should work

  • Ruler in Photoshop Elements 10

I have been using Photoshop CS for some years, but now my newly updated Mac software (Lion) says it can't read it any more because CS is powerPC based which Lion does not support.
I looked at Elements 9 a while ago but it doesn't have a ruler, I need a ruler for the designing and drawing that I have to do.
Does Elements 10 have a ruler? Is it any good for drawing?
    In hope.

You could try using the circle tool as follows for angular lines:
    - on a separate layer, create a line (LINE-A) near a ruler, making it the length of the line you want to create at an angle.
    - move LINE-A so one end touches the screen where you want the angular line to appear.
    - select the ellipse tool then set the ellipse check box to "Circle (draw diameter or radius)", and check the box "From Center"
    - click on the end of LINE-A, and hold down the mouse button. Adobe Elements will start to draw a circle.
    - move the mouse pointer until the circumference of the circle touches the other end of LINE-A.
You can now draw a radius line from the .center of the circle to any point on the circle. Any line drawn should be the same length as LINE-A (you may have to juggle layers to correlate points).
Conversely, on a separate layer, you can use the circle tool to draw a circle with the radius being the line you want to measure, then move that circle to a ruler (either horizontal or vertical) and measure the radius of the circle there. That is your line length.

  • How do you add a new rule in inspect element?

In inspect element how do I add a new rule? I come from Chrome and this is a necessity for me.

I don't think that this is different in Firefox than in Google Chrome.
In the right pane, select the Rules tab.
Click the element {} line in "This element" (between the curly brackets) and type the property name.
Type a colon to separate the name and the value.

    Total = 200.00%, ( Set.Type FUL / Version / Actual settlement ), period 009/2009, source assignment COE
    Message no. KD041

we are selecting settlement catogiry G/L
    Settlement receiver G/L Number
    % = 100
    settlement is = Ful
    no = 1 ....10
we are transfering the total amount to 10 g/l like above that time we are facing the problem.

  • Points not obeying grid-snapping, or any snapping-rules where merged.

    This is my situation.
    1. Draw a line... It snaps to grid perfectly.
    2. Draw another line... It snaps to grid perfectly.
    3. Merge line1 with line 2 at one end... (It seems snapped to grid, but shows a "+" protruding connection so I zoom, and it is fine close-up...
    4. Move the point to a new grid-snap point to see if it draws better zoomed-out 100% without showing overlapping on this single point... However, now it snaps everywhere except onto the grid. Like all around the point, just not on the point. Now it will no longer snap to any grid-point or other point, always being "off". (This does not resolve by adding a new point and breaking the line. The whole line now refuses to snap to any actual point. It is always offset by an unsteady ammount/percent. Sometimes it is real close, sometimes it is about 50% between all snap-points.)
Resolution = None... Never move points once set, and naver intersect a third line to a point, and never intersect one line with another.
Results... everything looks misaligned, slightly off-angle, can not make any true aligned items, unless I use line-thickness 3, to hide the off-angles from misaligned points.

This is what is happening, at a programming level...
Once a point is "merged/union", at the intersection. That point it is now located, becomes an offset to the actual "Grid". However, (for some reason only on intersected lines), the offset interferes with snapping. It will SNAP, at your grid-distance, at a slight offset, never on the actual intersection. It starts to "snap", as if the grid is offset, staying on the lines, but invisible lines that are not the grid.
The only resolution to get the line to go back to the grid, is to use the arrow-keys to bump it the 5.0-0.1 pixels it is off. (In my case with a 10px grid.)
However, moving the point again, causes it to start snapping to the phantom-invisible grid-lines, and it will have to be nudged with the arrow-keys to push it back to an actual grid location.
Also, however... This does nothing to resolve the zoomed-out view which shows top-left intersections displaying as a "+" when they are truly intersected. Also noticing that the lower-right lines alwys seem "open", not connected. (Drawing a standard rectangle with a line-width of 1px shows the "open" bottom corner.)
Somewhere in code, there is an issue with drawing. Zoomed-out it is drawing "top-left" of pixel-locations, but zoomed-in, it is drawing from the "center" of the pixels. Thus, this akward offset, which is always top-left offset, and causing what seems to be "holes" on the bottom-right of intersections.
(Might be a direct-x thing, becuse MS draws/calculates from top-left. GL draws from center. Most software draws bottom-right. Due to copyrighted "formulas" for drawing.)
I suspect antialias may also be interfering with the drawings, as it completely messes-up curved-rectangles, making them look bowed-out not curved on the corners. Again, someone is using a GL formula for a MS translation, or software-formula for MS translation, not using the off-set adjustment to match the middle-draw to the top-left draw code.
