Snapshot Tool - Printing Questions

I am looking for help using the snapshot tool and printing from a large size page. Specifically, I get .pdf drawings that are 24X36" (or larger) and since I don't have a large printer at home, like poster or blue print size, I am using the snapshot tool to span a couple of pages on to 8.5 X 11.  After selecting and printing, I tape the printed pages together.  I am able to select the area I want to print, from the Print pop up window, I use Print Range and select the radio button for Selected Graphic, the problem is, every time I use the snap shot select tool, the selected area is never the same % size, therefore when I try to tape the two sides together, the lines don't line up well because each select of say the left and then the right side of the page are at a different % selection.  Does anyone have a solution, work around or know of a setting that will lock the selection to accomplish this?

Thank you for the reply, unfortunately, I don't see this as an option, is there a preferences setting in Adobe or in a printer setup that would have to be enabled to get this selection?  In the Page Handling, Page Scaling section, my only choices are, None, Fit to Printable Area and Shrink to Printable Area.  Am I looking in the correct settings?  Also note, I did download the latest Acrobat Reader this morning Ver 9.

  • Adobe reader print current view and snapshot tool inoperable

Print current view is inoperable in part of the document snapshot tool is inoperable in all of the document, why?
I am trying to print a two page pdf in larger print and can't figure out how to do it.

oooooooooooooooooooooooooooook.  I tried that, but Adobe reader froze so hard, I had to do a hard boot.  Don't ever start Adobe Reader then go to straight to "help". When I exited help,  I got a red screen which had "legal notices" and "credits".  Clicking on either of those worked.  When I tried to exit, I just got a beep.  When I tried to close with the task manager it said that the program was locked and could not be closed.  When I tried to soft re-boot my whole system froze.  Only a hard boot got me out of the frozen Adobe reader.
Now back to the task at hand.  Fit does nothing.  To make the document readable, I have to zoom to 125%, but zoom does not influence type size except in "current view", To print a two page document, I have to do 26 "current views".  I NEED the snapshot tool, why is it inoperable?

  • Pdf  WEB PAGES  -  MISSING SNAPSHOT TOOL (and others)

I recently installed Adobe reader 9 and this has been a severely retrograde move. My university course makes ALL our lecture notes and documents avaialble OVER OUR INTRANET (i.e. as WEB PAGES) as pdf documents - we used to be able to simply click on the link and view them in a webpage, then use the Adobe snapshot tool whenever necessary to extract pictures or text from the notes (which often have ENORMOUS variations in font size and picture resolution WITHIN the ONE DOCUMENT) and paste them into a temporary document in order to blow them up and print them out so we can SEE them. They also often needed to be ROTATED before they could be printed out.
Now however, the Adobe reader 9, when we view these documents IN A WEB PAGE, has NO tools that allow us to do these VERY IMPORTANT MEASURES to make our lecture notes READABLE. All it allows us to do is to print it as it is!
In an incredibly demanding and intensive course, we now have to WASTE TIME we can ILL AFFORD by saving the document (which we DON'T WANT or NEED TO SAVE) and THEN OPEN it, use the tools which suddenly appear in Adobe reader 9 when opening a saved document, do what we need to do to print out something readable, then remember to delete what we've saved.
This we have to do OVER and OVER AGAIN - it is UNELIEVABLY INCONSIDERATE and ANNOYING.
We are already under HUGE pressure in our course, and students in the REAL WORLD do NOT have rich American mummies and daddies who pay all our expenses - we CANT AFFORD to buy every new expensive Adobe program just because our university decides to use pdf for everything.
If anyone has information that there IS a way to do snapshots, rotation etc on a pdf document VIEWED IN A WEB PAGE, could you please advise us here? Thankyou!

Thnakyou for your reply - there's definitley no way the uni will change their standard format, and it's really not their fault anyway. I wanted to re-load Adobe 7 but can't find it anywhere on the Adobe website, and do not want to risk loading it from elsewhere!

  • Access Snapshot tool in VB

    I have few questions.
1st. Is there a program that can copy a pdf and paste it to document, that is automated, I know the snapshot tool exists and I can use that but I have roughly 3000 pdfs with 40 to 100 pages each I need to copy to add to my reports.
2nd. If a program doesn't exist then how do I access the Snapshot tool so I can copy the page and paste it into word? I managed to open both the word doc and pdf, but I can't figure out how to access the snapshot tool.
    Thanks

If you had Acrobat you could extract all the pages from each of the files into single page files. If you had a decent DTP program for creating your report, then you could import each page as a separate file with no loss of fidelity. Word on the Mac supports pdf files as graphics, older versions of Word on Windows did not. I am unsure if the latest and greatest version of Word allows the import of pdfs as graphics.
I would not suggest using the snapshot tool since the quality of the graphic would be greatly reduced. If you owned Acrobat you could export the pdf file as a graphic (tiff, png, or jpg) and import those files into Word for Windows, but again the quality of the images would be reduced.

  • Undo Snapshot Tool

How do I undo Snapshot Tool selection?  It repeats my last choice.

  • Plugin with similar functionality to snapshot tool

I would like to develop a plugin with functionality similar to the Acrobat snapshot tool. I'd like to provide a method for the user to select a rectangular region, and capture an image of that region to the clipboard, which is exactly what the snapshot tool does (I also want to add some features not provided by the snapshot tool once this is working). I've reviewed the SDK samples, and I'm not sure how to get started. Is this a special case of a Selection Server? Which API methods allow me to get the image of the rectangular selection, rather than iterating through PDF elements contained within?
    Thanks!

    Hi Leonard,
Thanks for the quick reply! Let me break down the areas I'm still unclear on into a couple of questions:
    (1) What is the best way to allow the user to draw a rectangular selection? Are there some callback functions I should implement to allow the user to click and drag a marquee, or do I have to handle the code to draw the rectangle myself? I'm wondering, for example, if I need to implement the drawing code as part of a custom AVTool DoClickProcType callback, or if there is a better, built in way to get a rectangular area that a user has drawn (given that this operation is common to many tools).
    (2) Once I have the rectangular selection coordinates from #1 above, how do I render it to an offscreen bitmap as you suggested? Is there a function in the API that allows me to do this?
    Thanks again!
    Steve

  • Snapshot tool in Adober reader

I have copied a few pictures using snapshot tools from adobe reader and pasted in word. I sent the file to a friend using windows but he cant see the pictures. Apparently the pictures are not pasting as jpeg. Can someone help me rectifying this. I need to send him the pictures for a class project.

I've never worked with adobe reader so I don't know what exact format you pasted, and if the following might work or not. Try copy the image, then open preview, go to File > New from clipboard. If this works, then you can save it as any format preview supports (e.g. jpg). If that menu is grey-ed out, then preview doesn't recognize it... Maybe you can try use cmd-shift-4 to grab a screenshot instead.

  • Snapshot tool?

where did the snap shot tool go in windows 8? Every other version I've used has this!

Adobe Reader Touch (Windows Store app with "Modern" UI) does not offer the Snapshot tool.
If your operating system is Windows 8 (as opposed to Windows RT), you can install Adobe Reader XI (traditional desktop app with classic UI) and use the Snapshot tool.

  • Snapshot tool problem

I downloaded an ebook, using Adobe Reader (version 7.0.9) to read. I want to copy and paste some quotes, (claims I can using snapshot tool). I notice the snapshot tool in the toolbar but it is not available (not bark, it's faded but visible). I can't click on it but everything (under Help) says I should be able to.
    I'm using Mac OS 10.3.9
    Adobe Reader 7.0.9

    >everything (under Help) says I should be able to.
Unless of course the the creator of the ebook has added security that prevents copy/pasting.
    Check File>Document Properties>Security.

  • Acrobat X De-select snapshot tool

    Hi,
Could anybody tell me how to *stop* taking snapshots once the snapshot tool has been selected? Once I click it, how do I go back to the standard paragraph selecting tool?
    Apologies if this is obvious...
    Thanks.

I found a better answer on a slightly older forum post here> http://forums.adobe.com/message/3873437#3873437
I had 1st found your post and used your solution so thanks for that. For others who find this post 1st here is the answer from Dave Merchant
To drop out of Snapshot and back to the default (multi-select) mode, just press ESC.
The same keypress will drop out of Loupe mode, but the dialog will stay open and persists on the last view - this is intentional so you can drop out and make an edit or select/copy something without breaking your workflow. Re-selecting the Loupe tool carries on wherever you left off.

  • Adobe reader snapshot tool

    hallo
i am pretty sure that once i could use the snapshot tool to copy vector format into the clipboard (emf, wmf) when i had vector information in the pdf file.
now with acrobat reader X i always end up with pixels. i found the option to increase resolution, but metafile content would be much more helpful.
is that right or what else can i do to regain vectors for my pasting in powerpoint or other office documents.
    thanks

  • Image Printing Question

    Hello,
Bottom line summary: How do I use the Media and Quality setting to get a good image?
I have an image printing question for an HP 8600 Office. I am trying to get a decent quality image to print
on regular paper. I gather that I will not get the quality of a photo printer. I gather I'm supposed to use
HP glossy paper. Please read on ...
Images come out grainy (rastery) when embedded from an MSPaint project, and if I use Word. However when I printed just an image from image viewer it came like a photo ... but I can't remember what I did. It definitely is capable of printing better. My cartridges all check out, etc. I did the Print Quality Report ... I sure wish I could get that quality when I print other things.
I tried messing with different settings from the Print - Preference. The Quality (Best, Normal, Draft) doesn't effect the outcome. I tried going into Print - Preference - Media and it makes a difference. I can't figure out which is the best setting for plain paper ... but it's not plain paper. The image rendering algorithm appears to be different for different Media settings. I also tried setting the Advanced Resolution to Maximum DPI. I haven't been totally methodical about this as I was in a rush.
I see that the printer is being "smart", perhaps a little too smart.
    So my question is multipart:
    - Is there documenation on the what the Print - Preference - Media settings do?
    - How do I get it to not use grainy/rastery image method, but use the nicer photo method?
    - Should I print Maximum DPI?
    Thanks,
    - Dave -

Hi @DaveGold , and welcome to the HP Forums!
I hope you had a great holiday!
I see you're looking into photo setup options. I'd like to help!
First I'd recommend this document on Changing Print Settings in Windows 7.  This document should show all the settings you're looking into.
Also, another thing to keep in mind, when you select 'best print quality' and 'photo paper'. It will only be as good as the source image.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Adobe Employees: View Tools Print Production Convert Colors

Totally don't get your View> Tools> Print Production> Convert Colors dialog.
I would expect that if it was working that all Tagged files (left column) would display correctly.
But in every test it appears all that happens is my profiles are stripped.
Can you possibly let me know what I may be missing as no one else seems to be able to?
Here is my control .pdf download:
    gballard.net/photoshop/pdi_download/PDI_Color_Profile_Test.pdf
Here is how it displays Acrobat Pro 10.1.5 (as expected):
Left column is Taggged as noted (displays proper as expected).
Right column is Untaggged as noted (displays unmanaged).

i had a revelation slugging this out:
Acrobat Print Production> Convert Colors behaves nothing like i expected (accurately transforming Tagged source colors to a Destination profile)
i am still interested if this is possible, but this is what i believe is happening (and it is easily proven in Photoshop on the monitor)
During Acrobat's "Convert Colors" process (using my conversion settings):
Acrobat IGNORES the profiles embedded in my RGB images.
Acrobat "Assumes" its Working RGB profile (on all Tagged/Untagged images) and then
Acrobat "Converts" everything to the Destination profile and embeds that profile.
Here are my Acrobat Color Settings (Working RGB is ProPhoto RGB):
Here is how those settings display my original .pdf:
Note: This is totally predictable and how Photoshop displays Tagged and Untagged color (Photoshop properly "Converts" or transforms Tagged color to the monitor profile; and Photoshop, like Acrobat, "Assumes" its Working space on Untagged colors).  That means the left column containing all Tagged images are displaying the same as Photoshop, and the right column of Untagged images are each uniquely different.  In fact, the Untagged ProPhoto RGB is the only Untagged image displaying proper because Acrobat made the proper Assumption.
Here are my Acrobat Convert Colors settings (my best guess for a simple Source> Destination conversion):
Here is the result using the above Working RGB and Convert Colors settings:
    Note: This is crystal clear.
To prove it in Photoshop one would merely have to open each of the original 10 files and Assign ProPhoto RGB to each file, then Convert each one of them to WhackedRGB (and this is exactly what I would expect to see).
    And here's the proof:
I dragged the Converted .pdf into Photoshop and "Used the embedded Profile" (Whacked RGB) to open the ProPhotoRGB image -- as you can see -- Acrobat made a proper conversion to Whacked RGB, correctly embedded the Destination profile, and is displaying it proper.
i am still really interested if Acrobat is capable of properly Converting multiple Tagged elements to a single tagged Destination profile -- i.e., my five tagged images in the left column display properly (like Photoshop displays them)...
PS: I did the exact same series of tests/screenshots using WhackedRGB as my Acrobat Working RGB -- the results were as predicted (Whacked RGB was the only source space that properly converted).

  • Using the snapshot tool in V7

Hi I'm using Acrobat V7 in Windows. I've created a text document in word which is lengthy, converted it to pdf and now want to save each page as a pdf file. When I use the snapshot tool I lose resolution or quality. Is there a way that I can change the default resolution of the snapshot tool?

    Change your screen resolution.
Better way: In Acrobat use the menu Document > Extract Pages...
