SNC configuration in multiple application server environment

Hello Experts,
We are planning for SNC configuration between ECC 6  and NW04s Portal systems.
ECC 6.0 is running with Central Instance and two application servers.
NW04s EP is running with 4 server nodes.
I am very much clear about setting up SNC between ABAP and JAVA running with single application server and server node.
But totally confused about SNC/SSL setup in multiple server environment. Would really appreciate if you can provide some ideas/docuements on setting up SNC/SSL in multiple server environment.
1. Do we need to create multiple PSE for each of the ABAP application server? If yes then would the CN should be same or different.
2. If we create only one PSE for central instance and copy this to other application server - will this work.
Looking forward to hear from your experiences.

Davinder

  • Creating Oracle Application Server Environment?

    Hi All,
    i am new to AS
i need to know the way that i should build my Application server environment
suppose i am a company that sells a software package, i have 2 clients for this package
    so i should install
    1 infrastructure (for both clients)
1 middle tear (for both clients)
    2 application servers ( 1 each)
please help as i asked a lot of questions before and no one reply me, it seems that this forum is not very active like the DB Admin one
    Thanks for any contribution

If you are actively supporting 2 clients, but the codestream for each is the same then you really only need one AS... just use 2 databases and access the relevant one depending on your url parameters.
You could create seperate AS but sounds like overkill to me.

  • Integration between EP & BW (with multiple application server)

    Hello Experts,
We are configuring JCo Rfc Provider using visual administrator.
We have Successfully used Note No##Note 917950 - SAP NetWeaver 2004s:
Setting Up BEx Web,For Our Development  & QAS BW & EP Server.(Single application Server)
But on our Production systems which have multiple application servers ( 3 each for EP & BW) at the step of creating RFC Creation we find that the RFC connection (JCO provider) only works when we specify the individual Apps server in the BW Host Field. We are not able to Specify the BW message server in the JCO Connection.
Kindly help us to resolve this issue.

    Hi Jim,
The reason that the documentation specifically spells out IBM Websphere is most likely because it was the application server that we developed and tested with at the time. The important requirement for this type of integration is that this server be an Intel based server running a Microsoft OS. The reason for this is because there are dlls with the Oracle IPM product that enable communication between the IPM functions and the JDE Business functions. If the Enterprise server for JDE is intel based then a JAS can exist on the same server, the dlls can be on that machine and the extra server is not required. This server is only required if the Enterprise server is not intel based. As far as your choice to use Oracle Application Server goes, I really have no basis to say if this works or not. My thought is that it shouldn't matter as long as the JAS server is an intel based, 32 bit server running a Microsoft OS. There are many other variables and lots of experience implementing this type of integration with JDE within the Oracle IPM consulting team. Give us a call if we can help.
    Hope this helps,
    Matt

  • Multiple Application Server's Version installs multiple jinitiator

I have multiple Application Servers in my environment and they have different versions like 9iAS 9.0.4 10.0.2 etc. I am facing a problem that when my users jump from one Application Server to another then it uses and install different jinitiator.
Kindly let me tell that how i can use just one version of Jinitiator with all versions of Application Server???

    Hello,
I'm really sorry but this is a typo on my part. It should be "You can't have two different APEX versions on the same instance."
Does it mean that if we install ApEx v3 we will have only ApEx v3?Yes. This is exactly what it means. The installation script automatically detect previous installed APEX (or earlier HTML DB ) version, and upgrade it. You can end up with only one version per instance.

  • Syncing Forms Across Multiple Application Server Servers?

    Hi Guys,
I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. We recently brought up multiple servers running Application Server 10.1.2.3 for High Availability of our forms and reports. My question is, is there a way to keep the forms files synced? With IIS for example, I have written a batch file that will go check for modifications on a source server and then sync any destination servers that are out of sync. However with Application Server, you cannot simply copy files over because if they are in use they are locked.
Would anyone happen to know of any kind of solution for keeping multiple Application Servers synced?

What we do is use a Load balancer with Multiple App severs. To keep the forms correct we take one out at a time off peak and update and do this round robin until they match.

  • Configuring Workspace to Application Server (BEA Weblogic)

    Hiello,
I am in the processing of installing and configuring System 11.1.1.1 and I have run into an issue with configuring Worksapce. I have successfully installed and configured Shared Services on (server1) using BEA Weblogic 9.2 MP3 but when I go to configure Worksapce (on the same server) the Deploy to Application Server FAILS. I have uninstalled and re-installed the software 6+ times with the same results. I would think since Shared Services works using Weblogic 9.2 MP3, Workspace would also work.
When the configruation FAILS while deploying to the Applicaton Server this is the error that is generated in the config log file:
"(Jan 16, 2009, 08:11:11 AM), com.hyperion.hit.registry.utils.RegistryLogger, ERROR, Component type name null is not valid INVOKER IS com.hyperion.hit.registry.LogicalWebAppComponentImpl.getWebAppType
    (Jan 16, 2009, 08:11:11 AM), com.hyperion.hit.registry.LogicalWebAppComponentImpl, ERROR,"
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Jimit,
Please download : Oracle WebLogic Server 11gR1 (10.3.2) - Package Installer from the below link: http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/htdocs/wls_main.html
Once you click on *"Accept"* radio button then after *"Sign in"* you will be able to download it for Linux.
Installation is very easy ...just run the installer ...it will ask for the Installation Directory...and once you provide it...it should do every thing for you.

  • Mixed application server environment with z/OS

    Hello,
I'm looking for more information from SAP when running a system in a mixed application server platform environment.   In other words, the system would look like the following:
    1.  Central instance (only MS and EN processes -  i.e. standalone enqueue) running on AIX
    2.  Dialog instance (disp+work processes - i.e. spool, batch, dialog, upd) running on Windows 2003 or Linux
    3.  Database running on z/OS
I see from the Product Available Matrix, that Windows and/or Linux are supported with z/OS, but there is no mention of running a mixed environment as described above.
    Any help/guidance would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    David

Yes, we have already been down the road of zLinux. Thanks to some pricing issues on the DB2 z/OS side, we had to give up our IFLs and thus zLinux. Our application servers are now on Windows 2003 x64. Even when we were on zLinux, we were forced to run some Windows application servers for Adobe Document Services as this is not supported on zLinux and SAP/Adobe have thus far refused to port it.
The inconsistency is that while SAP says it is "ok" to use something like SAMBA to share out SAPMNT and have it work under windows, it introduces unneeded complexity in many areas. SAP note 680617 describes this process. For us, it was a neverending headache with the unix vs windows text file format differences (supposedly handled by instance parameter abap/NTfmode=b) and there are complications for path names for batch jobs, etc.
I am sure all of those issues can be sorted out eventually, but it is just much easier to stick with one application server platform.
If you're considering zLinux, I would be extremely careful. There are only a handful of SAP customers in the world running it. Most likely you'll run into problems that no other customer has encountered yet and which will require a PTF or a new SAP kernel to fix (when you can finally get them). We ran into one such problem communicating to the ASCS/SCS in USS from zLinux over hipersockets. This really plagued our project team with hung locks (especially during LSMW imports of master data) until SAP released kernel 150 for zLinux which coded around the "unexpected" extreme low latency of hipersockets.
    Caveat emptor.

  • SNC is inactive in application server.

    Dear all,
When i enter t-code SU01 SNC tab i got this error.
SNC is inactive in the application server.

    please give some possible solutions.
    Thanks in advance.

I fail to see any issue. Undo segments will automatically increase in size depending on the size of a transaction.
An increase in size of 1 Mb is absolutely nothing to worry about, and you should stop dropping undo segments.
Also an application server is not a database instance, and it has no undo segments.
You should really spend some time to become clear on some fundamental concepts.

  • IP configuration to connect application server installed in vmware win2003

    Hi Experts,
I have one ides application server installed in a VM (OS - win 2003). I am using Win 7 on physical machine. Now i want to setup such a network by which I can access my IDES server from any where through internet , which is installed in VM. If possible I also want to configure both the systems to access ides from win7 of my Physical machine (without internet). If possible kindly suggest with examples.
Kindly help me out I am new to all these networking techniques but I can understand & follow the suggestions properly........
    Thanks
    SATYA PADHY

    Hello Satya,
I have the situation where I am accessing VM ware installed SAP system from outside.
You have to take help from your network team, they will reveal the IP to outer world and open all the required ports.
2nd situation is that you need to access it without internet, that can be possible if you will be in same LAN.
With my experience I can say that there will be no issue for your windows 203 or wind 2007, it doesnt depends on platform.

I have installed Oracle As (infratructure & middlie tire) on same box.
    10g Release 2 (10.1.2)
Now I need to do post installation steps as below.
    ORACLE_HOME
    1) How to set to the full path of the installation's Oracle home?
    2) Do I need to also set ORACLE_HOME for middle tier?
    ORACLE_SID
    (Infrastructure installations only)
    3) How to set the OracleAS Metadata Repository SID supplied during installation?
    cheers,

Now I am doing some post installtion steps .
    Per Oracle® Application Server Quick Administration Guide 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) B14126-02
    \http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_10/core.1012/b14126/toc.htm
**Set to the full path of the installation's Oracle home
    ORACLE_HOME=/opt/oracle/infra; export ORACLE_HOME
** Set to the OracleAS Metadata Repository SID you supplied during installation.
    ORACLE_SID=orcl; export ORACLE_SID
Is it the correct way to setup ORACLE_HOME & ORACLE_SID?
Actually I have setup as above on Last thursday. (09-15-05)
But when I have checked today (09-19-05) as

  • Custom JAAS login module configuration in Oracle application server

I have a LDAP login module implementing javax.security.auth.spi.LoginModule. This login module works well with tomcat and weblogic, if I configure the JVM arguments -Djava.security.auth.login.config and -Djava.security.policy to point to the login.conf and access.policy files. The login.conf file has the below content
    FREEWAY_SERV
    com.wipro.freeway.security.LdapLoginModule required debug=true portal=false;
    FREEWAY_PORT
    com.wipro.freeway.security.LdapLoginModule required debug=true portal=true;
The access.policy file has contains content like below:
    grant Principal com.wipro.freeway.security.RolePrincipal "UserAdministration" {
         permission com.wipro.freeway.security.URLPermission "/createOtherUser.frw";
         permission com.wipro.freeway.security.URLPermission "/createDealer.frw";
The application uses these login modules by passing Name of the JAAS configuration (FREEWAY_SERV or FREEWAY_PORT).
I would like to use the same login module and code in Oracle application sever 10.1.3 and I haven't got any success yet. I am not getting how to set these JVM properties and make my application identify this custom login module. I have tried configuring the custom login module via oc4j admin console and I couldn't give a name to my configuration. I also set the system properties for
-Djava.security.auth.login.config and -Djava.security.policy with no success.
Could anybody please help me to get this right?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
In OracleAS 10g R3 (10.1.3.x) you can register your login module in your application (and server) using Enterprise Manager, and config file. That is easier and more flexible that the parameter.
I would invite you to take a look to the security how-to:
    - 10.1.3 How-tos, and How to integrate a custom login module
You can also take a look to the 10.1.3 Documentation and the LDAP/Login Module integration.

  • Including DLL in application server environment

    Hi.
I'm running my application under JBoss Apps Server 2.44. I need to use a tool call Bridge2Java to access some DLL files. In order to install Bridge2Java, you will need to install in not only java classes but a DLL file as well. I managed to deploy the java classes but have absolutely no idea where to put the DLL files. I've tried within the bin folder but that doesn't work. Also tried to deploy with the application - doesn't work either. Anyone has any ideas?
    Thanks in advance!
    Meng.

Should work if you put it in any directory that exists
in your PATH environment variable.Restating that slightly...
It must be in the PATH environment variable of the environment under which the JVM runs. That might not be the same as a user, as servers usually end up starting up as a service. And since each service can have a different user or no user at all, that has to be checked.
I believe you can also put it in the execution directory. But figuring out what the execution directory actually is can sometimes be very difficult.

  • Sheduled jobs on redunant application server environment

I've been taking a brief look at running sheduled (housekeeping) task in an environment where we have multiple redundant app servers (Oracle, for our sins).
These servers are coupled so that deployments propagate automatically.
What I was wondering was - how would you shedule a Timer so that a housekeeping task was run on exactly one server. This should cope if one of the servers is down at the time sheduled. Are there facilities for this?

SuperScheduler and SuperWatchdog: a task will be executed once and once only. You can visually set a URL task or use SuperPeekPoke to visually set an EJB task. See http://www.acelet.com/super/index.html.

    Hi,
in OracleAs bet is to use Enterprise Manager to configure the login module. The LoginModule needs to be configured in the system-jazn-data.xml file, which is located in teh j2ee/home/config directory of the OC4J you use. Enterprise Manager does this all for you.
In your application deployment the orion-application.xml file needs to specify that a custom LoginModule should be used. Again ENterprise Manager does it for you.
To use the LoginModule e.d. for J2EE authentication, just make sure that the application name of the J2EE deployment matches the name of the LoginModule configuration
If you want to use pure JAAS you may have to change the OC4J properties file in the j2ee/home/config directory. Best suggestion to give is to get the online documentation for OC4J security
