How to get existing Homesite snippet to CFbuilder ?
I have hundred of snippet, I do not want to loose.

Hi all, just wondering if its possible to batch create snippets from a heap of topics. I've got a lot of topics that I want to create snippets from for single source purposes and having to add them to the snippet library one by one is becoming teadous. Just wondering if it can be done, evena drag and drop or something would speed things up.....
another quick thing, once I've create these snippets (from topics), the original topic that they were made from is now totally redundant isn't it? meaning I can delete it, I can see any relationship between the 2.

I'm unclear on how snippets will help here. Please advise us on exactly how this topic you wish to change to a snippet currently works. Are you inserting it using inline frames or what?
I'm failing to see why you would want to change an entire topic to a snippet.
Indeed if you had the topic content as a snippet you would be able to delete the topic as the data is now inside the snippet.
Snippets are used to insert repetitive text into certain areas of other topics.

How do prevent HTML snippets from being listed on search engines?

I just created a new website using iWeb 3.0.1. On a couple of my pages I embedded flash music players and video players using the HTML Snippet widget. I did a quick search of my website on google and noticed that the HTML widgets were showing in the results as separate pages. I then clicked on these HTML Snippet pages and up came the widget on a separate page by itself. How do I prevent search engines from listing any HTML Snippets on my iWeb site as separate pages?

Paste this in the HTML Snippet.
In the <body> ... </body> part you paste the code you currently use for your Snippet.
I haven't tried it, the noindex part, but the code itself is accepted by iWeb.

Upgraded to DWCS5.5 where are my snippets from CS4?

Just upgraded to CS5.5 from CS4 and i had many snippets stored in a MySnippets folder and they did not migrate to CS5.5.
Where can i find them and can they be copied and pasted?

Delete snippet from mini bridge?

Hello all,
I would like to delete some files straight from Mini Bridge that I have dragged-and-dropped into earlier. However, I can't seem to find a way to do so. I thought it would be rather strange that I can add files in Mini Bridge but not delete them.
Am I missing something (and going completely mad) or is it not possible to delete files from Mini Bridge?

I think, in a lot of workflows, MiniBridge is a tool that aids in the placing of content but not really the organization or changing of it. That's why features like renaming and sorting are so weak, compared to other tools. As a result, they don't want to make it too easy to delete content, because that might put some users off ("I had a bad experience with Mini Bridge. The Mini Troll ate my Mini Snippet.").

Restore snippets from CS3 to CS3 package

I had cs3 dreamweaver and then purchased the cs3 suite.
Dreamweaver had to be reinstalled as it wouldn't take a license
code for the suite since it was installed alone. Now I lost my
snippets. I have my sites but not the hours and hours of
snippetizing that I've done for the last 2 years. Ouch. Anyone know
where they are stored on vista? I tried application data but see
nothing there. I also added a snippets and a snip folder and
couldn't find that via search on my drive. so where are they going
when you add them and how can i get that one back.

Sorry to say, but a reinstall will have wiped out your old
snippets. If you had backed up your user's configuration folder
prior to uninstalling/reinstalling you would be ablle to copy back
in your snippets, but not afterwards. For future reference, go to
http://massimocorner.com/
click on Utilities and then grab the Snippets Import/Export
extension. That should allow you to keep backups from now on.

How import snippets from MX2004 to Dreamweaver CS5?

I have some customs snippets used up to now with MX2004 Dreamweaver - these are on the same computer as the new CS5 version
How do I import those snippets into the new version?

From Homesite to Dreamweaver

Dreamweaver is great. I would really like to use it as my
default code-cruncher ;-).
The problem is that i have gotten so used to Homesites ASP
color syntax, that i simply dont have the same good overview in
Dreamweaver. So i have to change the coloring syntax for asp pages
in Dreamweaver to look exactly like the coloring-syntax in
Homesite.
I could do that manually. But have you guys seen how much
work that will take ?
My question is: Is there an easy way to change the ASP
coloring-syntax in Dreamweaver to look and act exactly like
Homesite ?
Maybe somebody outthere knows a trick or so that will do
it...

Do you mean it's a lot of work to use Edit/Preferences/Code
Coloring .. pick
the language code you want to edit and click Edit Coloring
Scheme? That
pops up for you the appropriate code formats and you just
change them ..
doesn't look too hard to me.
I don't think there is a "Use Homesite Colors" preference ..
but that
doesn't sound like a bad idea.

Serial number from Homesite keeps disappearing

I am a paid registered and licensed user of Homesite 5.5 and have used it regularly with my serial number and name entered.
Very recently every time I launch Homesite I am asked to renter my serial number and name, otherwise the app shuts down. When I enter it it runs okay.
Kind of a pain.
What can I do to solve this problem?

I know I didn't on one machine where I didn't have admin rights.

RH10: Snippets from resource manager show in search results

I'm new to using the resource manager, so there's a good chance I've done something stupid here... but...
I have 2 projects (I am the only tech writer, so running off one PC, no version control). I want to share snippets between the projects, so I'm using the resource manager to keep them synched up. Both are compiled as CHMs.
When I search, I'm getting search results that appear to be the snippets in the results. When you double click them, they don't open.
Here's a screenshot of what I'm seeing.
Has anyone else seen this before? I'm using RH10.

I have set up a test and cannot get snippets to show in search results.
I am a little puzzled by the fact that you say they appear to be snippets, thus casting some doubt.
Do you have snippets with those names and do the snippets contain the term being searched.
Do you have topics with those names?
Does it happen in a new project?
Try creating a new SSL, not a duplicate.

How can I eliminate HTML tags from Oracle Text Snippet?

I perform a search on many tables and on many columns of those tables.
Some of those columns are VARCHAR2 and some CLOB.
Also, some of the searchable data are HTML and some are plain text.
My problem is that ctx_doc.snippet fetches the HTML tags.
For example I get this, as a snippet result in one of my searches: Qual Germany n1 Test Qual Germany n1
I want the result to be fetched without the HTML tags.
In my index configuration I have used NULL FILTER and HTML_SECTION_GROUP.With that configuration I managed to eliminate the HTML tags but not in all cases!
For example:
I search table CONTENTS columns TITLE(VARCHAR2) and MAIN_TEXT(CLOB)
I created the following procedure that concatenates the two columns:
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE CONTENTS_PROC( p_id in rowid, p_lob IN OUT clob)
IS
BEGIN
FOR c1 IN (SELECT main_text||' '||title data FROM contents WHERE ROWID = p_id)
LOOP
dbms_lob.copy( p_lob, c1.data,
dbms_lob.getlength( c1.data ));
END LOOP;

I created a user Datastore:

Doing various tests I found out that the problem is when I need to search in multiple columns of a table.
That is when I create a user_datastore that uses a procedure that concatenates the columns.
And especially when the data with the html tags is in a VARCHAR2 column.
e.g

Replace vertical navigation in custom master page from snippet gallery

Hi.
I'm creating a new master page from seattle.master and I'm trying to implement a customized snippet from the snippet gallery into the master page code without success. The following line is straight from a seattle.master page:

From here, I see where I think the replacement snippet should go; however, there are discrepancies between the structure of the snippet and the code I'm replacing. Also, the snippet from the gallery is calling some ASP registrations that I
don't see in the original master page code.
How can I insert my custom vertical navigation snippet into this master page?

You want to replace the entire <div id="sideNavBox" /> found in your custom HTML Master Page. Your custom vertical navigation will need to replace the entire container and all of its child controls.
Your custom vertical navigation snippet should start similar to:

Design Manager's snippet manager adds the Register tags into the snippet so that the snippet is self-contained. Your HTML Master Page likely contains these Register tags already but you can leave them as Design Manager will handle any duplicates for you.
The structure of the snippet itself appears different because the seattle.html HTML Master Page includes modifications.

Custom Snippets won't open from Network Drive

Hello All,
I'm using SQL Developer production release on a Window XP Svcpk 2 machine.
I have installed the extension to save snippets. My installation is on a network drive and I can open the "custom" snippets from that drive. However, if I move the snippets.xml to another network drive(one the entire department can see) SQL Developer doesn't open them. I have modified the sqldeveloper.conf to point to the location on the network drive as well as attempted to use a copy on my local hard drive. This may be a "feature" that it has to be in the jdev/extensions directory but it would be useful if the snippets.xml could be placed on a shared network drive. Don't think it is pertinent but I'm connecting to 10.1.0.5 DB(s) as well as an XE DB.

Did you get any error message when you try to open an Office document from a mapped network drive?
Meanwhile, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:
1. Temporarily turn off your firewall/antivirus program to check the result.
2. Try to disconnect the network drive and then reconnect it with the "Reconnect at logon" check box unticked.
3. You can have a look at the following KB article and check if it applies:

Snippets lost from project in RH7

Hello,
I am having a problem with snippets losing their connections to a project after I close and reopen the project.
If I create a new snippet it appears in the Snippet pod, and the content is shown anywhere it is inserted in a page. If i then close and re-open RH, the Snippet pod is empty and the snippet content is not displayed in pages where it was inserted. The .hts files for the snippets still exist in the project folder, and the html still has the snippet placeholder anywhere it was inserted. I can fix the problem by clicking on "Import Snippet" from the Snippet pod and then importing all the snippets I had.
Does anyone know how to correct this issue, so that snippts will remain associated with a project?

Ok. I got it figured out. Thank you Peter, you set me on the right track.
Here's what you need to do in case anyone else runs into the same problem:
1.(Obviously you'd want to make a back up of the project first)
2. Copy all snippet files (.hts extensions) to some other folder (outside of the project).
3. Delete all snippet files from the project (.hts).
4. Delete the .cpd file from the project.
5. Delete the rhsnippet.apj from the project.
6. Open the project, and import the snippets that you copied in step 2.
7. Generate project. Should be good at that point.
