SNMP for ACE Failover.

Hi Experts,
Could someone please let me know the SNMP settings for my ACE failover.
Query:-
When my active 4710 ACE load balancer fails for any reason(due to s/w or h/w)  and the second 4710 ACE load balancer  take over (becoming active), will there be a SNMP alarm send from the ACE?
If so, which SNMP alarm will that be and which SNMP settings need to be applied for this?
Thanks in advance. Appriciate your comment on this.

Hi Christopher,
I configured the SNMP but nothing is been seen on SYSLOG Server. But I am able to ping the syslog server from ACE as it is in the same subnet.
But the messeges are not getting recored to the syslog server. I reloaded the ACE and saw OID getting generated for link up/dow and restart but nothing been recorded on the syslog server.
Is this a bug?
Generating configuration....

However, I don’t see the OIDs you mentioned.Alsothere is no incoming syslog message from any of the ACE load balancer IP addresses shown.
Anyhelp would be appriciated. Thanks in advance.

  • RME 4.2 Inventory with no SNMP for FWSM

Looking at trying to get Config Archives setup for FWSM and ACE modules however we have SNMP
restricted in this portion of the network.
I understand that inventory polling must be present to get the devices into RME - is there a way we can get around not having SNMP for this inventory - a manual method maybe or some loophole we can work around?
Also will syslog work from these devices to RME?

To get the config archives, you simply need the telnet or SSH credentials in the DCR. Not having SNMP access will restrict RME from gathering device information for inventory collection and the device type will show up as "?" in the DCR.  Syslog is used to trigger a sync archive if changes occurred but you will need to define the syslog server settings on the FWSM.

  • TCP connection for DHCP failover frequently are broken in Solaris 10

    Hi
We have two dhcp servers which are installed in Solaris 10 and set to a failover pair. Currently, we can find that tcp connection for dhcp failover protocol are frequently broken. It looks like that primary dhcp server initiatively send FIN message to secondary one but in general, this tcp connection should always keep alive. On the other hand, the tcp connection can not completely be closed right now which FIN_WAIT_2 status in Primary one and CLOSE_WAIT status in secondary would last for a long time.
Will Solaris 10 cause this fault? Is it a known bug in OS?

  • Replicating simple Java objects for automatic failover

Is there a way to replicate a simple java object that is bound from JNDI
across all servers so that if the primary server fails, it will
              automatically failover?
We have a java client that uses JNDI to access EJBs on WLS5.1 SP8. In order
to determine client information, the client currently binds a simple java
class in the JNDI tree. The Entity and Session beans use the caller
principal to locate the object in order to access client-information for
such things as record locking, logging, etc..
We have to move this architecture to a cluster environment and we are
wondering how we can replicate this object across cluster servers so that
failover is handled automatically, and that it is still accessible through
              JNDI.
An RMI replicated stub is not enough, since it only works as long as the
server hosting the RMI object is alive.
I'd like to add that the object is created and bound at client start-up and
              destroyed at client exit.
Thank you for any advice or information,
              Dania Kodeih.

A: Replicating simple Java objects for automatic failover

That's what I figured. I guess the only solution in this case is to persist
the object during client sessions. I was hoping for something simpler, but I
guess I'll have to create an Entity Bean and everything else that comes with
              it.
              Thanks,
              Dania.

  • SNMP over ACE not showing RealServer statistics

    Hi All,
I have a semi weird problem. I´m trying to get statistics from my ACE, and I downloaded the MIBs for that and use a program to do a snmpwalk over these. My problem is this: I can get statistics for the Virtual Servers and also some for the real servers (IPs, description, preconfigured values, etc.), but not statistics for connections to the Real Servers.
Both in CISCO-SLB-MIB and CISCO-ENHANCED-SLB-MIB, when I try to do a snmpwalk over slbRealServers and cesRserverEntry, I receive  a "no data available " message.
    Any ideas will be appreciated.
    regards

    Hi,
If you look into CISCO-ENHANCED-SLB-MIB (rserver related MIB for ACE). It has cesRserverAdminStatus and cesRserverOperStatus in cesRserverTable. cesRserverTable gives stats of physical rserver (without sfarm association). In the same MIB, cesServerFarmRserverTable gives details of real severs with sfarm association. It has cesServerFarmRserverAdminStatus and cesServerFarmRserverOperStatus for status info. slbVServerState in slbVServerInfoTable of CISCO-SLB-MIB give vserver state.

  • PO for LAN failover and stateful failover link?

Hi.. We have 2 x ASA 5520s running ver 9.0. We plan to aggregate the 2 interfaces used for LAN failover and stateful failover into a lacp PO. So both the ASAs are connected to each other directly using these 2 interfaces and then we logically make it a one PO. We then assign the PO intface an ip. Is this supported?

You can use any unused interface (physical, redundant, or EtherChannel) as the failover link. (Source)
That said, It would be an uncommon implementation. I almost always see them on separate physical interfaces.

  • Toplink support for RAC Failover

We need to enable Toplink to support RAC Fast Connection Failover. We need to support
only read query retry functionality and not write query retry. We found one document
    (http://www.oracle.com/technology/events/develop2007/presentations/oracle_jdbc_high_availability_load_balancing_best_practices_and_road_map.pdf)
that explains how to configure JDBC connection for RAC failover. However, since we
are using Toplink, we don't explicitly write our own jdbc url and toplink's session/uow
will automatically handle the actual sql query execution.
Is there any way we can configure Toplink to support RAC Fast Connection Failover, such
as possibly in the toplink's sessions.xml or in the oc4j container's connection pools setting?
Just for information, the way we acquire Toplink session is through SessionFactory:
       SessionFactory sessionFactory = new SessionFactory("repository",
                                     "META-INF/repository-sessions.xml");
Session toplinkSession = sessionFactory.acquireSession();Then we do queries, acquiring unit of work, etc, using that toplinkSession.
    Thanks.

We have enhanced our RAC FCF support in 11gR1 leveraging the new Universal Connection Pool to make it more seamless to the application. Which version of TopLink and OC4J are you using?

    Hi all!
i am trying to configure snmp with oracle 10g so that i can monitor oracle from some network management system like tivoli, spectrum etc.
i checked in my $ORACLE_HOME/network , but there is no snmp directory ...nor does it have peer. Do i need to run some script to create the snmp directories or there is another path for the

Also, how do you test whether the agent is running on the server or not??

    Hi,
I'm trying to configure snmp for oracle 10g on Linux using OEM agents.
I followed all the steps mentioned in:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B16240_01/doc/em.102/b16244/chap2.htm#CHDCCEFB
I'm nto getting any output when I did snmp walk using below command:
    snmpwalk -t 30 -M /usr/share/snmp/mibs/ -m all -c public localhost rdbmsMIB
When I did snmpwalk using below command:
snmpwalk -t 30 -M /RDBMS/oracle/product/10.2.0.4/grid10g/agent10g/network/doc -m all -c public localhost rdbmsMIB (only difference here with the above command is mibs directory)
    output:

Here I'm trying to monitor Oracle statistics through zenoss console. As an initial est i'm trying to configure the snmp for oracle 10g. Please provide me the complete list of steps on what to do after installing OEM for my requierment.
This will be a great help to me..

As mention in document (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11857_01/em.111/e14091/chap2.htm#CHDFDJJI) we configure MASTER.configer file. Then we started the SNMP agent by root user through command ./start_peer -a.
We configure SNMP rule in OEM and then assigned this rules to method.
But we are not able to send traps to third party application(IT360).
I am not able to integrate OEM 11g with IT360.
please suggest me, where i am going wrong in this configration? or i have to do some more configration?
    Thanks in advance

On testing, the agent state moved to reserved state, but call is not delivered. Static Route is added for Phone Extension as "500>,proxy.ipcc.com".
What will be the issue? Kindly let me know what needs to be done.
    Thanks & Regards
    JP.

So, as Markus already figured out, you need to make sure that your CUCM actually understands that it is the intended recipient for these SIP INVITEs. I.e. if you define the static route to point to cucm.cisco.com you have to specificy the specify the Custer FQDN to be cucm.cisco.com under the 'Cluster Wide Domain Settings' in the CUCM Enterprise Parameters.
A second thing to watch out for the CUCM Group assigned to your SIP Trunks. Each SIP Trunk, like any CUCM device, has a Device Pool, the device pool has a UCM Group defining on which UCM nodes that device 'exists'. For phones that typically means : which UCM nodes can I register to ?
But for SIP trunks this means : which UCM nodes have a SIP deamon process for this Trunk and so which of the UCM nodes will actually accept INVITEs for this trunk. The most common cause for 503 Service Unavailable is probably this, (not all) the CUCM nodes in your DNS / srv.xml round robin are in the UCM Group assigned to the Device Pool configured on the SIP trunk for this Call Server.

  • Monitor TPS value for Ace Module

    Hi Everyone,
I recently installed the license ACE-SSL-05K-K9  on ACE10 with multicontext solution.
The license provides 5000 Maximum number of SSL transactions per second (TPS).
The customer would like to track this to find out the correct size and in the case of services https upgrade licenses.
Can I do it so through particular output or it's necessary monitoring with snmp service? In the second case, can you tell me the oid string to use?
In case the module should receive a higher number of connections to that provided by the license, what's the issue for new https connections?
    Regards
    Dino

    Hello Dino!
You can go into the Admin-Context and use sh resource usage all. Watch out for the ssl-connections rate. But I dont know the OID for this. But you can look into Cisco's MIB browser.
    Cheers,
    Marko
