SNMP on SF-200 24P

Hi, I need to SNMP on Cisco Smart switch SF-200 24p. I cannot find any option on administration to turn snmp service on. Thanks in advice

Hi Roman, this device does not support SNMP. The SX200E model does.

  • SF 200-24P - Rebooting Problem??

    Hi All
I have a SF 200-24P Cisco switch that seems to be rebooting constantly, When i connect it to mains power it seems to go through a startup cycle,  in this order - i have tried this with no network devices attached and the same thing happens
    1. Fan starts - continously runs
    2. Very quick flash of all RJ45 ports.
    3. After about 30 seconds, any network devices connected have an acticity light
    4. After about another 45 seconds, all ports light up including the activity and POE orange LEDs for about 5- 10 seconds then go off.
    5. About 10 seconds later the ports all light up again and stay on for about 5 seconds.
    6. All ports go off and the cycle keeps repeating continously.
I have tried pinging the switch without success.
I have also tried disconnecting all devices from each port with no success.
At no time does the system LED on the left light up.
I have tried resetting to factory default with reset pot on the left side.
This is a brand new shipped switch from our cisco supplier, could it be DOA?
If required i can make a video of this sequence so you can ascertain what the problem could be.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Luke,
Yep, if you have a concern about DOA, it could be easier to have a chat with your disti partner . If it is DOA they should quickly replace that product.
You also have the option of ringing the good folk at Small Business Support Center (SBSC) they also should diagnose any error and arrange a RMA.
With the 300 series product there is a option to interupt the startup and upgrade the software incase it is just a flash issue or software corruption.  With the 200 series you do not have that option.  If the product was stable for a couple of minutes, i would have tried a software upgrade. But working in conjuction with either Disti or SBSC you will come to a satisfactory resolution.  Thank you for your purchase and sorry that this first experience isn't what we would have hoped for.
    here is the contact details for SBSC;

  • SF 200-24P does not see the MGBSX1

I have a SF 200-24P and plugged in a MGBSX1.  I am logged into the web interface and see that nowhere does the switch acknoledge the mini-GBIC.  I can see that the GBIC is powered on.  If I plug the fiber in, the transceiver on the other end shows a link.  In fact, the transceiver's loop-back test reports all is well.  The switch however will not pass network traffic!  I tried both mini-GBIC ports.  I tried another brand new mini-GBIC from SMC, still no joy.  While I do not have another SF 200-24P to try out, I do have a SG 102-24 and plugged the MGBSX1 into it.  I'm still not transmitting data, although I do not know of a way to test it other than to plug it in and see if data transmits.
Is there something 'extra' I'm supposed to do in the web interface to get the swtich to 'see' the mini-GBIC?  I'm to the point of returning the entire setup and just use a standalone transceiver on both ends.  Help?

    Hi Jerry,
The Sx200/300 series only show the SFP module in the diagnostics when there is an active link, otherwise it does not show any data. When the link is connected you should see them there. Verify the settings in the SF 200-24P under Administration - Diagnostics - Optical Module Status.
As far as the "not passing any traffic" problem is concerned. Are the ports that you are connecting in the same VLAN ? If they are not, that could be a reason why there's no traffic passing. Also verify STP settings, you might have a port blocked by STP if you have redundant links (I guess that is not the case but I can't see from here of course )
    Hope this helps,
    Best regards,

  • WAP200E wireless bridge not passing data

Just setup two WAP200E's, the bridge is "Connected" as I look Status > System Performance in both WAP's. However, I cannot get to the LAN from one network to the next. Cannot even ping the WAP's from either side.
I already have two WAP200E's on this network, that have been working well for month (164 day uptime), and they are configured with a wireless bridge between them, both networks on the same LAN (same 192.168.2.x network on either side). The bridge names are different, different from the main WiFi in the building, too (if it makes a difference), and the static IPs the WAPs have don't appear to have any conflicts on the network.
This is actually three buildings, one is the main one with a Cisco SR520 for a router, and a Cisco SF 200-24P switch. So two WAP200E's go into this switch now, and I see them both fine when going into the management interface. Then each of the other buildings has one WAP200E, and a small Netgear 8 port PoE gigabit switch at each building to power the WAP.
The Netgear switches aren't managed, and I've made sure any features like STP, VLANs, etc. are turned off. And the Cisco SF 200 switch is set at auto and all the defaults mostly, particularly for the ports. I tried doing a SmartPort for this latest WAP200E and that didn't change anything, tried disabling STP for it too, and no change. The PoE port for the working WAP200E is identical in config to the PoE port for the new WAP200E, and both show forwarding, all VLANs admitted (none are enabled, no VLAN tagging, etc.).
So now I am wondering if I can have two WAP200E's into one switch? Or two bridges on the same LAN subnet? Or is there something else I am missing or should configure?

I just resolved this after reading through the community posts on people not pinging across a wireless bridge. After reading one of them it was suggested to try another channel. Seemed odd since I would see success in and packets and bytes being sent and received in the WAPs.
I ended up changing the SSID name to some a little different an changed the channel from 3 to 10 in both units. Worked instantly and has been rock solid now.

  • DVCPRO HD Workflow? What is the CODEC?

What is the best or preferred workflow to edit and export the final project for highest quality output? Background: we shot our film on The HVX 200 - 24p, 16 x 9 - 720p. Our editor imported the files with this codec, however, I'm not confident that we are seeing the highest quality HD in the final product. How do check I if the codec is correct and what do I export to for the highest HD output?
    Your help is greatly appreciated.
    Paul

The client did not specify a specific output other that simply "The Best". I realize that does not help
Not at all. Ignorant clients make things difficult. They need to choose a format...and they need to make an informed choice on that format. First off, find out what formats these festivals take...that is crucial.
The client did not specify a specific output other that simply "The Best". I realize that does not help
As I stated, DVCPRO HD 720p24.
what should we be exporting the final to for highest quality? DVCPRO HD tape is the best I can do?
Again, depends on what people want and will accept. HDCAM SR is the best you can export...but that is HIGHLY expensive and very FEW companies and festivals have those decks. DVCPRO HD deck will record in the EXACT SAME quality that you shot, so that will be pretty good. But it sounds like you too are a bit in the dark about working with HD. I highly suggest hiring an HD Consultant (post facility) before you get in too deep. Relying on forums for basic support is good, but are full of people who might not know what they are talking about. And I only go so far as I earn a living as a consultant.

  • VLAN setup

    Hi,
I am completely new to VLAN's (infact fairly new to networking), so please forgive me if this is an amateur question.
We have recently bought a Cisco SF 200-24P switch.  I would like to do the following:
We have 4 offices that we want to completely seperate, except for a single server which will be a 3CX (IP Phone) server.  They will also need access to the same internet line.
    What i am wanting is:
    Port 1: WAN
    Port 2: Server
    Ports 3 - 8: Office 1
    Ports 9 - 14: Office 2
    Ports 15- 19: Office 3
    Ports 20 - 24: Office 4
The Router on Port 1 will be doing DHCP and the offices will need to be on different IP ranges from each other, whilst being able to access the internet and communicating with the server on port 2.
    Is this possible?
Much apreciation for any help given.
    Jon

    Hi Leo,
Thanks for you're reply.  at present we do not have a router that supports dot1q trunking, but i shall get one.
so, router / firewall aside, am i correct in thinking that on the switch i would create 6 VLANs? ie.
VLAN ID: 2 - assigned to ports 1
VLAN ID: 3 - assigned to port 2
    VLAN ID: 4 - assigned to ports 3 - 8: Office 1
    VLAN ID: 5 - assigned to ports 9 - 14: Office 2
    VLAN ID: 6 - assigned to ports 15- 19: Office 3
    VLAN ID: 7 - assigned to ports 20 - 24: Office 4
from what i understand, by default, all 24 ports are set to VLAN ID: 1.  Do i therfore remove this VLAN?
Will DHCP work in a way that each VLAN can have a different IP Range (i.e. Office 1 on 192.168.1.x , office 2 on 192.168.2.x etc)?
    Kind Regards
    Jon

  • Capturing 24p from the HVX-200

I just filmed some footage, with the Panasonic HVX-200. I filmed in 480/24p on a tape. when capturing it in FCP do I choose DV50-NTSC 24p, or DV-NTSC 24p in the easy set up menu? I think its DV50, Im just not 100% sure. IF anyone can help me out I would really appreciate it.

    Yup...pretty sure...
    #23 Differences between 24p and 24pA

    http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/24p_in_FCPnattress.html
    24p Normal
When shooting in 24p Normal, the camera is adding normal standard 3:2 pulldown to the video, which results in 24p footage designed to work with any non-linear editing suite and it will play back and look good directly to any NTSC monitor. You can use 24p Normal footage just like normal video from any DV camera, and everything will work fine, but obviously, the footage will have a film look to it. If you’re just going straight back to NTSC video tape, then using 24p Normal is the simplest, easiest workflow. No special treatment of the footage is needed and you really can just edit as normal.
    24p Advanced
Before you shoot 24p Advanced, you should fully understand it’s workflow implications. If you watch 24p Advanced footage before you’ve removed it’s pulldown, then it will look a bit jumpy and jerky. This is totally correct, because 24p Advanced is not designed to be viewed as is.
To use 24p Advanced and gain all it’s advantages, you should know that you cannot edit it as is (as this would leave it’s jerky looking pulldown intact), but you must first remove it’s pulldown. Final Cut Pro will do this for you, leaving you with the 24p footage without any of the extra “padding” fields that are added to make it’s frame rate 29.97fps. Now that your footage is 23.98fps, it must be edited on a 23.98fps timeline, and this can cause problems if you, for instance, want to include other footage, B-Roll, or stock footage, that comes from a different source. However, once you have your finished edit at 23.98fps, you can make a 24p DVD, which will allow you to compress your MPEG2 less than if you were making a normal 29.97fps NTSC DVD, and hence attain higher picture quality. Similarly, if you’re making a web movie, you will find it easier to get a higher quality result from 23.98fps media than normal NTSC media. 23.98fps movies are also easier to take out to film that 29.97fps movies.
If you are editing in a 23.98fps timeline, Final Cut Pro will add pulldown on the fly, over Firewire, so that you can see your movie on a normal NTSC monitor. Similarly, it will add pulldown when going back to DV tape. However, this will not work on a non-DV format output, say to Digital Betacam, and slower Macintoshes do not have the power to add 3:2 pulldown in realtime, falling back to lower quality pulldowns which although are not too bad while editing, will not make the final project look as acceptably good on television as a final product.
What that tells me is that 24P just adds a "look" of 24 fps to the footage that resembles that of telecined film, but that you work with normally at 29.97fps. Or, if you want to, you can add a reverse telecine and work at 23.98. Either way.
BUT, with 24PA, the footage looks jittery when played on the tape. So sure, you can work with it and output it to tape, but that tape is useless to anyone OTHER than someone who can capture it and perform a reverse telecine to work with it. It will not work as a Master tape for any viewable purpose: Broadcast TV, projected video from tape, a master tape for dubbing purposes. So, in effect, it is useless as a tape master, and should be avoided.
If you want to have a tape master, shoot and edit 24P at the 29.97 framerate.

  • Can I shoot slow motion on HVX-200 keeping 1080i/24P without FCP Conversion

I've been reading many threads, but haven't figured if you can actually shoot true 1080i/24P on my HVX-200 with menu frame rate set to 60fps/shutter 60fps. The times I've tried it shows 24P in the menu frame rate and will not playback on the P2 in true slow motion so I can import into FCP slow motion at 1080i/24P without conversion.
From everything I've seen it shows it has to be in 720/24P with menu frame rate at 60fps/shutter 60fps which will let it playback on the P2 in slow motion.
Any suggestions? We want to shoot everything in 1080i/24P but see instant playback in slow motion without conversion mostly for music videos.
    Thanks, Paul

haven't figured if you can actually shoot true 1080i/24P on my HVX-200 with menu frame rate set to 60fps/shutter 60fps
You can't. 720p is the only format that is 60fps. 1080i is 30fps.
From everything I've seen it shows it has to be in 720/24P with menu frame rate at 60fps/shutter 60fps which will let it playback on the P2 in slow motion.
Correct. You can only shoot in-camera slow motion at 720p60, using the 24p setting. And this is also the way to shoot so you can slow it down later with Cinema Tools or in FCP. It must be 720p60. Again, 1080i is 30fps only. Even 1080p...30fps with DVCPRO HD.
Any suggestions? We want to shoot everything in 1080i/24P but see instant playback in slow motion without conversion mostly for music videos.
Sorry, if you want to shoot smooth slow motion, you need to shoot 720p. If you must shoot 1080p, then you need to invest in good post slow-motion options, like Twixtor.

    Hey,
I have been able to get a live feed from my HVX 200 onto the MacBook Pro at the Apple Store. I set the digitize tool to non-controllable device and to the corresponding codec selected on the camera and it works perfectly fine. When I try this on my laptop I can't get it to work. FCP sees my camera when both are set to DV NTSC, but any of the DVCPRO HD settings don't work. I feel like I have tried everyting, is there anything else anyone can suggest to solve this problem?

  • SNMP WS-C2960-24PS-L

    Hi
I have a problem with adding a Cisco switch to the NMS (Smarts). When I start a discovery process from the snmp manager (Smarts NMS) it does resolve the ip address into the hostname but once the discovery process is completed the device in question is not added in the list of managed devices. Please view attached basic configuration and advice if anyone can spot a problem.
    Kind regards

    Hi
I have tried to use different IP addresses and the behaviour is still the same, though I knew that changing an ip address won't help but I tried because I ran out of ideas.
I also reset both the snmp agent and manager, and other types of switches that I had in the labs were discovered correctly but these latest 2960S are the ones that are giving me problems.
    Question: Can you ping?
Answer: yes i can ping the device
Question: Can you SNMPWalk the device from the SMARTs server?
Ans: Yes I could do an snmp walk but I don't really know how to interpret the output(results), what is the snmp oid that should be entailed on the snmp output which is used for the devices to be managed (added to the list of managed devices)?
    Kind regards

  • SF300-24P - SNMP question

    Hi,
I've a script that does the check of port status asking OIDs
    .1.3.6.1.2.1.17.4.3.1.2
    .1.3.6.1.2.1.17.4.3.1.1
    .1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.8
after a firmware upgrade, all these OIDs are not available.
    for example:
snmpwalk -v 2c -c public 192.168.1.197 .1.3.6.1.2.1.17.4.3.1.2iso.3.6.1.2.1.17.4.3.1.2 = No Such Instance currently exists at this OID
I also tried to follows procedures like:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk648/tk362/technologies_tech_note09186a00801c9199.shtml
using the community string indexing (I don't think that it applies to small business switches) but for desperation...
    Have you any suggestion?
Thank you very much in advance,
and sorry if it's an already asked question, I've tried the search button, but without finding a definitive answer.
