SNMP or MDS 9222i stopped working

Ok,
Got two MDS 9222i switches and by some act of crazyness both have stopped responding to SNMP request. As such our monitoring tools cannot get to them. Worse still the fabric manager cannot manage them and I cannot connect to them via ssh1 or ssh2 or telnet.
I've removed ssh and snmp setting and readded. Switch will work for around 30 seconds then drops connection and when you try reconnect it times out.
commands removed and added
no telnet server enable
ssh key rsa1 1024 force
ssh server enable
snmp-server contact ******
snmp-server location ******
snmp-server community ******group network-operator
snmp-server community ****** group network-admin
snmp-server community ****** group network-admin
snmp-server user admin network-admin auth md5 0xa36756487c540124176681454b62af3f priv 0xa36756487c540124176681454b62af3f localizedkey
I've removed the names and replaced with ******, also have run no commands to remove then readded.
Like I said once the settings are there will work for 30seconds or so then crap out.
Running version 3.3(1a)
Any insight would be greatly appreciated, will be upgrading kickstart and version to 4.1.1c this weekend but wanted to find the issue at hand first.
Thanks

So you have the same symptom of SSH and FM not working with a crossover cable? Not sure how ACS would work if you had a cross over cable in place to your PC because the ACS server would not be reachable from the MDS. It should drop to local auth and use the local user database.
Can you try to ping the MDS mgmt IP address with the cable not connected? Just to verify there is no duplicate IP address on the network? Set up a continuous ping and let it run for over a minute if all looks good. At the 1 minute mark, unplug the mgmt 0 cable and verify that the pings now timeout.
I can not think of anything internally that would affect both SSH and SNMP from working. They are totally different process. You mentioned it is a 9222i, so there is no chance that they sups are crashing and you are hitting a sup roll over to cause the disconnect.
You may want to attach a local console (PC with hypertem or Teraterm) to the console port on the MDS and monitor the event logs. Perhaps there is some event occurring that might explain the odd behavior.
If you do attach the local console, you may want to collect a 'show tech support' in case this needs to be worked by TAC.
Thanks,
Mike

  • Snmp stops working on ISE 1.1.2(145) patch 10

I have a Primary Admin/Primary Monitoring, Secondary Admin/Monitoring and two PSN nodes, distributed mode
A few days ago, the primary Admin/Monitoring node snmpd daemon just stopped working.  I had to remove the snmp community string and re-add it back and snmpd starts working again.
Yesterday, the secondary admin/monitoring node snmpd daemon also stopped working and had to do the same thing (remove and re-add snmp community string) for snmp to work again.
Is this a bug in ISE?

There looks like there was a bug fixed for this issue in 1.1.1, you may need to open a tac case and see if the bug has resurfaced.

SNMP process stops randomly due to an issue in netsnmp
The netsnmp daemon on Cisco ISE can halt, causing any SNMP monitoring of  the Cisco ISE node to fail until the daemon is restarted. This issue  has been observed in Cisco ISE, Release 1.1.1.
Workaround   Remove all SNMP commands and re-add them to start the daemon again or restart the ISE node.

  • Updates tab in Mac App Store stopped working.

I don't have time to test all of these to find out for sure which one it may be, so I thought I'd post it here in case someone might already know the answer. I disabled and removed a bunch of features from my iMac running Mountain Lion 10.8.5 and one of these caused the Updates section of the Mac App Store to stop working and return the error "The App Store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later." Anybody know what might be causing this? Thanks, and please don't bother asking why I would do any of this, that doesn't help. This isn't a complete list of things I changed but I've narrowed it to one/some of these.

  • Safari 5.1.10 Has Stopped Working

So I'm obviously way behind on Mac Hardware & OS. I'll buy another Mac eventually, but I'm making do with what I have for now, and this means I can't upgrade beyond 10.6. Which means I run Safari 5.1.10. I have Chrome installed, and I use it when I have to, but I'd like to understand why Safari has basically stopped working.
Basically, the problem is that periodically, Safari slows down to a crawl, or seems to "get stuck." The app does not crash or freeze, it just can't seem to load anything. Pages I access frequently like Gmail seem to load fine for a while. I navigate through these sites from page to page, then suddenly Safari hits a wall and it may take several minutes for it to recover. To take the Gmail example, I may send an e-mail, then choose a label or go back to the Inbox, and it's like time just stops. I get progress indicators both from Safari (the blue progress bar built into the address bar) and Gmail (messages Google builds in to let the user know the page is loading slowly), but nothing happens. In some cases, it lasts several minutes, and then suddenly it starts working again.
Imagine a page beginning to load, then the progress indicator gets stuck somewhere around 50% or something, and nothing changes for several minutes until, all of a sudden, the progress indicator shoots up to 100%. That's what it does.
For a long time I blamed this problem on the sites that seemed to have this problem most, but eventually it seemed pretty clear it was Safari. I've lived with it for a long time because it was intermittent, and because I know I'm way behind. But lately it's gotten much worse, and today, it just stopped working altogether for several sites.
Just to get the obvious out of the way:
No, I can't upgrade to a newer OS which would allow me to download a newer version of Safari.
Yes, I have Reset Safari, cleaning out the cache, history, etc. The only thing I don't clean out are my passwords.
No, it isn't all pages that cannot load. Believe it or not, some pages still work just fine. Others that used to have problems, no longer work at all now. This just happened today. In the past, I've always been able to Reset Safari or just give it time, and Safari would eventually work for these sites again. It has never happened that Safari simply would not recover.
Yes, I have run a virus scan.
I have a 1 TB Hard Drive with almost 600 GB available, and 4 GB of RAM (of which, my iMac can only utilize 3 GB).
I always download updates from Apple, and there are none currently waiting to be downloaded.
I have often performed Speedtests when this issue occurs, and my download speed is never less than 30 Mbps, my upload speed never less than 5 Mbps.
Pages that don't load no matter how long I wait include Gmail (and any other Google page) and Apple.com.
Pages that load immediately, with no hesitation, include CNN and Twitter.
If anyone has any ideas on what may be happening - and in particular why it went from being a periodic nuissance to an insurmountable obstacle just today - please let me know.

Spotlight has stopped working properly. Even when a known file is entered (with full file name) in search, it fails to find it. It finds some things, but is not to be depended upon. Any ideas?

Try reindexing spotlight: Spotlight: How to re-index folders or volumes - Apple Support
If you still have problems, open Console app, select All Messages, then search for mds in the search field. Then search for mdworker. See if there are any messages indicating it is having problems with certain files.
You can also delete the index altogether and cause it to reindex with a command in Terminal. I have always assumed the method above will do the same, but I'm not certain. You must run this command while  logged into an admin account. Copy the whole line and paste it into Terminal.
    sudo mdutil -E /
sudo temporarily elevates your privileges and will ask for your password. When you type it in, there won't be any response in the Terminal. Just type it and hit return.

  • VPN stopped working after OS X 10.9.4 update

    Hi,
I had a VPN configured for work which has been working forever but stopped working after the 10.9.4 upgrade.
    Very basic setup:
    L2TP over IPSec
    Server address filled out
    Account name filled out
    Authentication settings
User Authentication - password kept empty, so it prompts for password
Machine authentication through certificate - certificate selected
    Advanced
    IPv4 over PPP
    IPv6 automatic
When connecting after the 10.9.4 update after I entered my password and hitting connect it always says: the L2TP server did not respond .... what changed?
    Thanks,
    Ruben

I have same problem with L2TP connection.

  • Interconnecting CIsco MDS 9222i to the HP C-Blade enclosute VC-FC Virtual connect module

    Hi,
Anyone had the experience of interconnecting the CIsco MDS 9222i to an HP Blade system through the VC-FC virtual connect module?
When i connect my MDS switch to the module, the VC-FC ports dont log in to the MDS. Could i be missing out on something? I have configured the MDS to use the default VSAN 1 and tried configuring the ports as F-ports but nothing worked, even with the port mode put on auto they still take on the F-port role and still the VC-FC module doesnt log in.
Your help and support will be appreciated
    jerrysimila

i wanna use the CLI though i also have the fabric manager at my disposal. would you kindly
share a sanitised version of ur running config for the mds that does the FCIP replication to the DR i see if i can make head out of it then i
f i face any challenge will holla at u. you can email me [email protected]
My set up is as follows, ive got 2 MDS 9222i at the primary site in active-standby mode, one connects to the active VC while the other connects to the standby VC of the blade system. Then i have a similar set up for the DR. Good thing is that am first setting everything up here in my Data Centre, then test before sending the configured equipment to the DR. So i have much freedom to get dirty with the equipment, and its not a live environment yet.
Kindly let me know the step-by-step procedure of having the FCIP set up.

  • TCP services stop working every morning

    Hello,
I have a relatively complex problem that has brought me to the limit of
    my limited knowledge.
History: I have a BM 3.5 server running on NW 5.0. I am patched. It has
been running for years. I have a linux cluster running qmail. All traffic
from the internal network passes through the cluster and then through BM
to get to the internet (dedicated connection). BM is running NAT (static
and dynamic), firewall and proxy services.
Monday things changed. Now everyday I arrive in the morning and mail is
mounting up on the cluster. If I unload ipflt on BM nothing changes. I
can't telnet to any 25 or 80 port from the mail server. All services stop
that use TCP. I have a squid server in test right now. This server has a
statitic NAT address. That machine (and others) can ping addresses using
DNS on the internet (with ipflt unloaded) but can not browse or send mail.
I am monitoring my internet router (it is outside the BM server) via MRTG
and snmp (UDP) from a machine on the internal network. This does not stop
    working.
The proxy on BM continues working perfectly.
Routing has not presented any noticible problem.
Summary: Every morning all TCP services running behind BM stop working.
UDP and ICMP continues. I have unloaded NAT and reloaded to no avail. The
only solution seems to be the restarting of BM. Once I do that everything
    starts up again.
How do I trouble shoot a TCP problem on BM? This is probably the oddest
thing I have seen. Quite frankly I'm not sure if it is BM (NAT). This
    maybe a basic Netware problem.
Any thoughts would be extremely appreciated.
    Brian

    Cat and Maximo,
    > Let me try to get that straight. Your BM does static NAT for your
    > mailserver (and other boxes), and suddenly UDP and ICMP from these
    > natted servers through the BM still works, but TCP doesn't?
Yes. That's what it looks like.
    > Can you still do TCP *to* the BM from the natted devices when that
    > happens? As you say your proxy continues to work, it sounds as if TCP in
    > general on the server continues to work, but does it also work from the
    > mailserver?
Everyone browsing via BM proxy continues with no interuption.
The mail server can telnet to any other server on the internal LAN but
nothing past BM. DNS continues working for the mail server too.
    > If really nothing changed, this might be a (succesful) DOS attack of
    > some sort. I wonder if a LAN trace could reveal anything of interest.
Do you mean port scan the BM server?
I know that "nothing has changed" is a loaded statement. The only thing
(that I know of) that has changed relatively recently is the addition of
the Squid server. It has been running behind the BM server for about 3
weeks. Recently I added a filter exception allowing the Squid server to
    access higher ports (dyn/tcp).
But, as I noted before, I think removing ipflt should eliminate any
doubts there. Is there some way Squid could be corrupting something there?
The problem was compounded this morning (saturday). I came in today so I
would have the network essentially to myself. But, to my surprise,
    everything was ok.
Cat, You're right. This server is no spring chicken. It is an IBM
Netfinity 3000. Its probably 3 or 4 years old (maybe more). I will think
about this as a hardware problem but I just wish the thing would die
altogether and get it over with. :o)
    Thanks,
    Brian

    Thanks for your help.

There is an utility for make this kind of changes, that you may try.
First go to C:\Windows\system32\drivers\et and open with notepad the hosts file and add a line like*ip hostname.domainname hostname*
    Go to *%ORACLE_HOME%/chgip/scripts/*
and run chgiphost.sh -mid in a console. It will prompt for new hostname and old hostname, you have to use hostname.domainname.
I dont know if this may work for you problem, but when you make this kind of changes, you have to run the utility.
    Regards.

  • Cisco MDS 9222i 10G Module DS-X9704 supports FCoE

Hi, Whether Cisco MDS 9222i 10G Module  DS-X9704 supports FCoE? i saw IP over FC in the data sheet of this module but not FCoE?
    Thanks
    Abhilash

Also whether this 10 G interface can work as an Ethernet port and not just a FiberChannel port?

  • Mobile Sync stopped working...a fix I think!

Hi folks. My head has many briuses from banning it on the desk but I may have a fix that will restore some of the calendar probs we have had with update 9.1.79
I have a Ph.D (poke and hope diploma) in computing, but I made this work.
I have got my calendar to re-sync and lost the message of "Mobile Sync has stopped working" by doing the following.
I called support and they gave me a link to remove ALL contents that i-tunes installs and there are many including Bonjour etc..

Do exactrly as it says and remove everything. I had to restert my PC in safe mode (press F8 at start up) to get at a couple of files that needed the administrators permission to delete.
I then restarted and had to delete the file itunes library.itl (I actually dragged it to my desk top from the directory C:/my name/Music/itunes
This was because I installed the earlier version of itunes (9.0.1) and it could not read this file so i removed it.
I then downloaded itunes version 9.0.1 and installed it.
Started up itunes and did a sync and it worked!!!
I hope this works for some one else. If so, go into settings and dissable Get automatic updates until Uncle Mac fixes the bug!!
    Good luck,
    J.

I recommend (and have tested) a slightly different solution then the one proposed here (and in numerous other threads) for the iTunes 9.1 "sync no longer works" for calendar, bookmarks and contacts.
There are several threads which recommend different solutions:
    1) Downgrading to iTunes 9.0 --> fine, but I want to keep up-to-date with recent iTunes versions, and I do not want to have to find an old iTunes library to get iTunes running nor create a new library from scratch.
    2) Extracting the "Mobile Device Support" (MDS) from iTunes 9.0 installation, uninstalling MDS (installed with iTunes 9.1) and installating MDS from iTunes 9.0. --> iTunes 9.1 will not accept this and refuses to use this version of MDS
    3) Changing the System Environment variable PATH --> this did not solve the sync problem for me (error messages stop occurring, but sync does not start working).
    4) Copying all DLLs from Apple Application Support (under Common Files) to Mobile Device Support --> this made things much worse for me with tons of error messages.
    5) Deleting (renaming) DLLs from System32 (however it is called on your version of Windows) and putting in place new ones --> risky; I don't like unnecessarily changing DLLs under Windows.
My solution (no promises that this will work on all versions of Windows, but ti worked for me) is to get the "correct" version of the DLLs which are causing the sync to fail.
I will not post those here as they are referenced in several other threads (e.g. http://discussions.info.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2394471), but there is a link below.
    * Here is where my recommendation differs from others. *
Do not update the DLLs under Windows System32 -- update the bad versions installed under Apple Mobile Device Support (on WinXP default location is: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support).
    1) I suggest renaming the bad (non-working DLLs) so that you can rollback in case of problems, e.g.:
    ssleay32.dllcould_bebad
    libeay32.dllcould_bebad
    2) Save the DLLs which are at the depositfiles link (http://depositfiles.com/files/92eig2pii) into your Apple MDS directory.
    WHY?
In this way, you have not potentially corrupted other programs which make use of these DLLs (the versions under Windows system32), you have only corrected the versions used by Apple Mobile Device Support.
(And it is easy to undo this change if it does not work for you.)
    Good luck!
I've tried a number of other solutions, and two previous ones (running diagnostics and copying the depositfiles DLLs to system32) worked for a one-time sync only. When I tried to resync following a successful sync, the calendar failed to update changes made on either side.
This solution (dropping the depositfiles DLLs to the common folder:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support
    worked with repeat attempts.
(I too think that this getting ridiculous for Apple to say nothing about this problem. I mean, it's not like we're complaining about some hardly-used feature, or an uncommon application: it's Outlook calendar sync!)

  • Lms 4.2 didn't notify me when a Power supply stops working

    Hi Guys
i have router 7200 , one of its power supply stops working , but lms 4.2 doesn't notify me?pls help to solve this issue
    thanks
    ibrahim

    Ibrahim,
Is the 7200 being managed by LMS? Please confirm:
    1. The device is setup to be managed by fault (reference)
    2. The device credentials are correct (using the tool in Device Center)
    3. That you have logging and snmp server destination = LMS server on your router.
#3 is not necessary but optional. If #1 and #2 are correct, Fault management should pick up the failure.

  • Port-Channel issue between UCS FI and MDS 9222i switch

    Hi
I have a problem between UCS FI and MDS switch port-channel. When MDS-A is powered down the port-channel fails but UCS blade vHBA does not detect the failure of the port-chanel on UCS-FI and leaves the vHBA online. However, if there is no port-channel between FI-->MDS it works fine.
