SNMP set up to monitor webserver
HI All,
I am using SNMP to monitor SunOne WebServer. I am facing problems in setting up SNMP that comes with SunOne webserver.
I followed the below link
Sun ONE Web Server 6.1 Administrator's Guide
I am using Solaris 10 on which SunOne Webserver is running.
My server meets the following conditions
1.) Native agent is currently running
2.) No SMUX
3.)Needs to continue using native agent.
Even when I stopped the native snmp agent and followed steps.
When I start the Master Agent , I get this error
System Error: Could not bind to port.
Can you please guide me how to setup webserver snmp master agent.
Let me know if more info required.
Thanks
Hi Jeff,
Please define an application definition and you should be good to go.

CSS11506 SNMP Set for "suspend" a service How-to?
We are evaluate to intercept a server fault using a monitor agent and to "suspend" a real server using SNMP set. We plan to still use the CSS keep alive script.
Is it possible to disable a real server using snmp set?
How we can do this action?
I red that is possible to reboot CSS using SNMP set.
TanksI don't think it is possible.
Could you maybe use XML to do this ?

Regarding the reboot via snmp, this is indeed possible.

How to set up dual monitors with a Mac Mini
The Mac Mini has only one video output port. I very nearly didn't buy a Mac Mini system because I need to work with two monitors. I use the second monitor to display information in Web pages, PDFs, and Word documents while I am working in the main window.
However, I discovered after quite a bit of Googling that it is possible to set up dual monitors using an inexpensive USB video adapter (about $70).
So I bought my Mini (1.83Ghz, 2GB RAM, 200GB 7200rpm Seagate Momentus), and I also bought a USB video adapter called the EVGA Plus.
I've installed this system and used it now for a week, and I am quite pleased with it. So I thought I'd pass this information along to anyone who's interested. Please note that, although this is my first post to this forum, this isn't spam -- I have no financial relationship with any of the companies mentioned here, other than as a customer.
LINKS
EVGA Plus:
http://www.evga.com/articles/409.asp
Their literature does not mention Mac OS X compatibility. However, the underlying technology is made by Display Link. You can download beta Mac OS X drivers from their site:
Go to Display Link to download the beta Mac OS support -- see
http://www.displaylink.com/macbetadrivers.html
The disk image includes a very well written PDF document that explains the driver's status and limitations.

NOTES
* The DisplayLink driver is beta. It doesn't support 2D or 3D accelerated graphics. You can't use it to display iPhoto slide shows, for example. However, I need to be able to display a Web page, document, or PDF in the second monitor while I am working in the first. I've found this solution to be quite acceptable for this purpose.
* Several other companies make USB video units that use the same DisplayLink support, so they should work, too. However, they are more expensive -- largely because they're set up to function as port expanders, I believe. The EVGA Plus was the only unit priced under $100 when I did my search.
* USB does not have very much bandwidth, so you might be surprised that to hear that it's possible to use USB to drive a monitor! You'll find that the display isn't as fast as DVI, but for my purposes, I've found it quite acceptable.
* The EVGA Plus comes with a terrible USB to mini USB cable that will cause all sorts of display problems. Replace it with the type of cable that is used to hook up digital cameras to a USB port.
* Once everything is installed, you can use the Displays in System Preferences (or just click the icon on the menu bar) to adjust the second monitor. You can choose display resolutions (depending on your monitor's ability, of course). Rotation works. You can also right-click the second monitor and choose a different background color or graphic.
Don't expect miracles. Don't go this route if you want to run videos or games in the second monitor. And if you get an EVGA Plus, replace that horrible cable!
I hope this information is helpful.
BryanThere has been quite a lot of discussion here about driving twin displays with the mini, and more recently about the potential for USB video adapters to facilitate this, particularly in the light of several vendors claiming they have suitable MacOS devices and drivers 'almost ready'.
The DisplayLink solution seems to be the one most suggested as viable, though it's a pity they have not yet been able to move their drivers from beta - I suspect that puts a few people off. It's therefore good to hear of a real-world experience that should help others decide whether or not to go this route! -

Hello, I have a macbook pro retina-2013.
About Mavericks I could set my 4K monitor via HDMI on 2560x1440.
This I can not get through at Yosemite. Can someone help me there?They really pushed that it would all work great! Has anyone had the same struggle? Are there any step-by-step instructions to get linked up?
Call Verizon's wireless tech support & explain your problem to them. They will provide "step-by-step" instructions over the phone.
Take notes too!
TIP: If you do call & don't want to go through all those darn promps, when you initially call, just don't say anything. The automatic voice will then say, "will connect you to a service rep." -

How do I set up addl monitors?
How do I set up multiple monitors?
Hi wdl1001,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
You can connect an external display to the Thunderbolt port (or Mini Displayport, on older models) of your Mac. This article has some information to help you identify the display port on your Mac:
Mac Basics: Ports and connectors
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2494
You may need to use an adapter to connect your display to your Mac. This article has more information about Apple video adapters:
About Apple video adapters and cables

Xrandr, dual monitor, openbox - setting the main monitor?
Hello fellow archers,
got some kind of nasty problem here:
I got a notebook (on the right side) and a old monitor (on the left side).
By using the handy xrandr tool I can set up dual monitors (almost) fine:
xrandr --output VGA-0 --mode 1400x1050 --left-of LVDS
That should do the trick, but unfortunatle conky and gmrun than appear on the left-monitor. But I would like to have my notebook screen as the main-screen.
So basically I would like to have what I get with
xrandr --output VGA-0 --mode 1400x1050 --right-of LVDS
just with the minor difference that I can swap screens when I move my mouse over the left-notebook-edge / right-monitor-edge instead of the other way round.
Hope you get what I mean and maybe someone even knows a solution.err. there has to be a more elegant solution! openbox has excellent support for dualheading now.
the xrandr thingie togehter with kde works like this afaicr:
xrandr --output 1 --right-of 2
leads to :
[ screen 2 ] [screen 1 (main)]
maybe this works with openbox just as well
cheers Barde
EDIT: i'm an idiot ^^ there is an option in the openbox configuration file... it's called placement and it's under
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<openbox_config xmlns="http://openbox.org/3.4/rc">
</snip>
<placement>
<policy>Smart</policy>
<!-- 'Smart' or 'UnderMouse' -->
<center>yes</center>
<!-- whether to place windows in the center of the free area found or
the top left corner -->
<monitor>Any</monitor>
<!-- with Smart placement on a multi-monitor system, try to place new windows
on: 'Any' - any monitor, 'Mouse' - where the mouse is, 'Active' - where
the active window is -->
</placement>
</snip>
</openbox_config>

Last edited by unilx (2011-01-17 01:26:49)If they both turn on for a second or two and then it drops you back at the command line, it would appear that X is working ok.
What wm/de are you using? .... or maybe what login manager are you using?
Have you checked your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file to see what it says?
Normally when you are dropped to the command line, there would be an error message on the screen in front of you; it should be the same as in the log file, btw.
Also, when did this start happening?
Has it ever worked? If so, what changed? -
Hi there,
I am trying to:
1) Monitor a Solaris 10 operating system by sending snmp data to a monitoring program
2) Monitor M4000 / SB6000 / T4-1B devices by sending snmp data to a monitoring program
Is there any documentation to say what SUN/Oracle is sending by default?
Is there any way to modify what is sent via snmp, like changing&replacing the MIB on the M4000 / SB6000 / T4-1B?
Where is the equivalent of the MIB located on the Solaris 10 OS? Can this be updated / replaced to add additional checks?
One of the things that I don't see on my monitor, is the heat sensors that one can see when logging onto the M4000 / SB6000 / T4-1B.
I would really like to create thresholds for this after a recent event where the temperature in the Data Center was not properly monitored.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
TIAIf you are not using Wi-Fi, it will count as cellular data, but only minimal.

So what make you think, to quote you "bluetooth set up to monitor me in home and w/ iphone" ? That stuff looks like a bunch of data files, some sqllite, some plist, and some possibly binary. There's lots of this kind of stuff floating around your system.
You are not being monitored. And if you were bluetooth is about the last mode to even try to use due to its limited range. In addition your post says you are using a mac pro and the bluetooth on mac pros leaves a lot to be desired to say the least (I'm being kind using those words). The built-in BT on mac pros is lucky to reach the mouse on your desk! -

Kindly if anyone can help.

GeorgeHi Joel,
First of all i would like to thanks your answer.
The Check Device Credential shows the snmp communities rw was false.
I changed the communities so i clicked to device credentials button on the Device Credentials Verification Job Details form.
The softver upload is working right now from this device.
Earlier i tried to run the management station to devices function and it was succcessful for SNMP RW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I tried to change the commnities via CS > Device and Credentials > Device Management.
Despit all these the RME fetching was not working.
I do not unterstand what is the different .

Hey all, I have the RV 120W router, and can not seem to get SNMP Set to work. I though I would just check here, and make sure it is supported, and if it is, are there any special config settings I need to use?
Thanks, and sorry if this is a stupid questions!!!The release notes of RV220W firmware 1.0.2.4 stated a known issue that SNMP MIBs only support Read access.
So I would think R120W has the same issue. -
How to set up multiple monitors on a MacBook Pro
Does anyone know how I might be able to set up more than one monitor to my MBP?
Is there a splitter available, or some other means of connecting additional monitors? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!Hi,
still the best solution although pricey http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/gxm/dh2go/
There are some USB-connected graphics expansions avaiable for Mac, but IMHO these are still not up to the task speedwise.

Setting an external monitor as primary on a MacBook in XP (w/ Bootcamp)?
Hi, I'm trying to use a 17" LCD with my macbook to take the advantage of "Extended Desktop".
I know it's very easy in OSX where you just need to drag the menubar from one screen to the other in the display setting window. I was wondering if there is any way to do this in XP (w/ bootcamp), too. Although there is a check box in XP's display settings that offers the option, everytime i check this "set this monitor as primary" box and hit "Apply", the two screens always remain unchanged. Looks like XP always sets the Macbook screen as the default primary one.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
DonielThis may help but then it may not. I tested it with my iMac and non-Apple second display so results may vary.
With both the MacBook and the second display powered on go to the Apple Menu > System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement
Drag the Menu Bar to the second display and then drag the display itself to the other side of the second display. This should allow acces to the dock and Menubar on the non-Apple display and achive your desired results.
Note: If I sleep my iMac the second display stops so you may need to keep your MacBook open to use these settings
Hope that helps
