SNMP Support in 6.0

Release notes state SNMP support is not included in 6.0 but in a future
release any ideas when this future release will be out??

Any list regarding what other features will be in SilverSword floating around
the Inet like Topic clustering, automatic JMS failover etc etc.

Hi All,
Does anyone know of an Oracle document which describes the steps necessary in configuring SNMP for Oracle (most important is on Windows but all the other platforms would be great too) versions 9 and greater? When I google on "snmp" and "oracle", I get a ton of hits but the documentation is very old and I fear out of date. I know from speaking with other folks that configuring SNMP for Oracle is a real challenge. I just can't help but think there is a document somewhere in Oracle that presents this subject in a clear, step-by-step manner. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

ORACLE 10g SNMP support

I followed the instructions of the document SNMP Support Reference Guide in order to setup SNMP support for ORACLE 10g Version 10.2. On page 2-2 I am instructed to install the peer executables but it it not described how to do that.
Does anybody know how to install them?

It would be so nice to get some more basic functionality "OR more advance ones" to be able to se what is happening on the router, what it is doing and how the status of it is!
Couldn't Linksys add support for a syslog server or snmp to the E8350 router, would help alot to determine what's going on!
Or to enable some more / better logging support to a local attached USB stick or similar...
I remember from one of the old watchguard firewalls i had, it was superb in displaying in and outgoing traffic and what was blocked..
So a more advanced live traffic view lor ogging option would be greate!

I think you are at the point where you are asking for advanced tools but even though its a very pricey router, its still considered a home router. Linksys needs to evaluate their business model on this stuff. Prices more in line with SoHo Business equipment but features of a home router. To me it seems like they have crossed a line. Should reconsider their audience at this price point and open up access to more features but that may need to give out better access to the router instead of the GUI. Need to open up telnet or ssh to a shell that has those features available but would still not grant access to files that could brick the router. It couldn't be that hard.

I want to configure cisco switch to send SNMP packets to oracle server with toral upload and download network traffic. Oracle receives the packet and stores the value into table. Is this possible?

Alternatively, write a MIBs client and read that stats data using MIBs from the switch and insert the results into Oracle.
Perl has MIB and SNMP libraries if I'm not mistaken - and Perl can easily connect to Oracle and insert data.
If you want to do this from inside Oracle.. UDP protocol is not supported by PL/SQL. Only TCP. So you will need to write your own network library (via Java or external procs) and hook that into PL/SQL. Not a trivial task. Alternatively, move this entirely into the Java layer and use Java stored procs instead - but I expect that you will need to load additional jars for this and punch open holes in the Java sandbox.

i read a blog post that you can deploy patches via a Deployment Type for a Application. I configured a Deployment Type as Script Installer for my main Installation (the Main Application is already Deployed) and as the detection method i used "Fileversion".
The Problem now is that i cannot see the Patch in the Software Center of the client PC. Anybody knows why? The Main Installation is located in the ccmcache of the Client PC but not that Patch... (MSP) The Patch is from our own Product.
When i look into the AppDiscoveryLog with CMTrace i can see this:

Is snmp supported in solaris 7 and 8.

The entagents documents says

Yes it is supported on Solaris 7 and Solaris 8. Our observation is that on Soalris 8 it is somewhat stable compared to solaris Solaris 7 and Soalris 2.6. There is a problem reported on Soalris 2.6 where subagent does not come up. Tthe latest user and developer doc will give you more info on agent development.

SNMP Support over VPNsContext Based Access Control

I am a little confused as to what this feature is designed to provide. I've been experimenting with this based on the examples in the CCO documentation.
Can anyone offer me any insight into the design of this feature?
My initial understanding was that all of the MIB data would be available (unless limited by a view) and that the contexts would limit access on a per VRF basis. For example
VRF Customer_A1 could be in contextA
VRF Customer_A2 could also be in contextA
VRF Customer_B could be in contextB.
When a walk query was performed on the MPLS-VPN MIB then only the data for the VRFs in the relevant context would be shown - so UserA (in GroupA which is associated with contextA) could see data about the Customer_A1 and Customer_A2 VRFs only, and UserB (in GroupB which is associated with contextB) could only see the information in contextB.
It seems that my theories weren't quite right - the vrf <-> context <-> group relationship appears to be a little strange. A context must be unique and cannot be duplicated between VRFs - this means that CustomerA that has two (or possibly more) VRFs on a router can't see data on both using the userA login?
It also appears that this feature doesn't work with views enabled on 12.3(7)T, and the data provided when context alone is used is limited to a subset of the IP-Forwarding MIB?

I also feel that the image 12.3(7)T is not exactly the best choice. The image is pretty new and a 'T' image. You might end up running into bugs frequently.

Is DOM supported using SNMP on Cisco 6500;s?

Is DOM supported using SNMP on Cisco 6500's? I've configured DOM on 6509 using transceiver type all -> monitoring. Is DOM enable for SNMP mibs? Here's the MIB I got from a vendor. .1.3.6.1.4.1.3607. And I'm unable to walk it on any of my Cisco devices including Nexus 5672 and 4900.

That oid looks like the sysoid for the ONS series of products. I don't think that will work in this case. Unfortunately, I can't offer any other advice, I've not looked into snmp support for DOM.

I would like to design SNMP event, traps in order to be managed by SNMP Network management platform, like HP OpenView, or other.
It's possible to generate a trap in pl/sql or via enterprise manager on procedure event?
Anyone have test log4plsql for send traps?
Anyone know if it's possible to send traps via OS COMMAND on ORACLE?

I don't want to use oracle MIB. I want to use my own
MIB.
For example I want to send a trap if process of ETL
fails.I am not expert of SNMP setup but looks like Oracle SNMP support in this respect is kinda limited. Hope others may have better idea.

Hi there,
I'm curious about using SNMP technology to monitor Oracle 10g databases.
I've done some light reading on the subject and I'm now at the stage
where I have a few questions.
-What exactly do I need to configure in my Oracle 10g environment?
-Is Enterprise Manager the best and/or only UI available for me
to carry out configuration chores?
-I see no SNMP specific documentation for 10g; why is that?
-I do see a good document for 9i:

I'm able to set up traps via the EM website following these instructions:

However, what I'm really looking for is the ability to do snmp gets. I need functionality similar to how the old school DBSNMP under OMS used to work. These commands seem to be totally missing. I found the following documentation:

Which indicates there should be an snmp subfolder under $ORACLE_HOME/sysman, but that folder does not exist in my installation. I installed Oracle EE. Is there another package I need to install in order to make the subagent run like a normal snmp agent?
So far if I do a:
emctl start dbconsole
that starts up the EM Website and I can use that no probelm. If I...
emctl start agent -- I get:
Starting agent ... started.
issuing a 'emctl staus agent' gives me a normal status message. Things start to get strange when I try to start the subagent, which to my understanding is what I need running in order to to talk to net-snmp, which is the master agent running on this host. Here's what happens:

No Oracle MIBs in SNMP walk queries (10g)

I configured SNMP support on my Oracle 10g database servers.
However, when I attempt an SNMP walk, I get a few MIBs from
SNMPv2 and HOST-RESOURCES, but nothing Oracle related,
which is my goal for installing the SNMP support.
Any hints or advice on where I should go from here? Do I need
to "load" some MIBs on these servers before they will show up?

Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and I installed the Oracle SNMP, not the OS.
