Snow Leapord

I had Lion but I wanted to go back to snow leapord so I inserted the install cd and now installing Snow Lep, is this ok?
And I can download Lion from the app store whenever I want to upgrade for good..
Is this OK?

Mayne he did what I did, he has an older mac, upgraded to Lion, and then a few weeks/days/hours later bought a new Mac. And he wants to sell the old mac, but he does not feel like giving away the OS he paid for int he first place.
I personally did the same, I took apart my old iMac and upgraded HDD, and cleaned out all the dust, and made sure it is shiny again so I can sell it, and I certainly would not want someone else to have the Lion I paid for, and SL is at the end of life, so I am going to give away that with it when it sells.

  • Cant use CCC to clone Snow Leapord mac to Mountain Lion mac

    hello all,
I just bought a MacBook Pro (Mid 2012 not retina), and it came with Lion OSX. I recently installed Mountain Lion OS and it appears to be working welll except I am having trouble using a cloned external drive. I cloned my 2007 MacBook (Snow Leapord), using CCC (Carbon Copy Cloner), onto a Seagate 320GB eternal USB Hard Drive. When I plug the drive into my new MacBook Pro with Mountain Lion, and go to system Preferences, startup disc, select the coned drive, and click restart, the computer shuts down and appears to be starting to restart, but it just stays on the white screen before the apple symbol shows up and the apple symbol never even pops up, it just stays white forever without booting up. Now, I tried using the drive as a startup disc for my dad's 2008 MacBook Pro with Leapord and it worked like a charm and also tried it on my sister's MacBook Pro (Lion) and it worked fine there too. Is there something about mountain lion that could be causing this problem? I even tried using Target Disc from my old mac (that i cloned) to my new one and it wasnt working either. If anyone has any ideas, please help! Are there any particular tricks to using CCC for Mountain Lion? Thanks for the help!!!

Thanks that makes sense, however, my sisters Macbook pro worked with it and hers is a 2011 and came with Lion, so I'm not sure what to make of that.
Right the Early 2011 model MBPs came originally with Snow Leopard installed and Apple updated SL to 10.6.8 to work correctly with the newer hardware in the Early 2011 models. Then in June Lion came out and then all shipping MBPs came with Lion Pre-Installed but they would still run SL if you had the 10.6.8 version of SL. Since the Late 2011 models were basically the exact same computer, just upgraded CPU and some other minor changes, as the early 2011 models even though the late 2011 models came with Lion Pre-Installed SL would work on those if you had the 10.6.7 or .8 version of SL.
Now with the newest Mid 2012 models all of the Base hardware was changed to the most current versions available, New hardware. Even Lion that worked on the late 2011 models will NOT boot on the Mid 2012 models.
The 2011 version/build of Lion does not have the correct driver package to work on the new hardware.
Apple put together a Special build of Lion to work on those newest system with an updated driver package for the newer hardware.

  • How to sync new Macbook Pro with 2011 iMAC on Snow Leapord

    Hello,
This is my first post so hello!
My small business has an office iMAC and a Macbook Air both running 10.6.8. The two aren't synced in any way other than that the Air can access files from the iMAC's hard drive via the network. I have 2 email accounts on the iMAC's mail and just one of them set up on the Air.
I've just bought a new 15" Macbook Pro running Lion.
I'd like to be able to sync some folders (but definitely not all), bookmarks, iTunes and mail accounts between the iMAC and the new Macbook Pro. Ideally I'd like to be able to access the shared/synced folders when I don't have an internet connection
    What's the best method?
Snow Leapord doesn't have iCloud does it? If not, why the **** not?
Is it just easiest to set up the email accounts on the new MBP as normal and then use dropbox for the folders I want to share? Can I access the with no internet connection?
One other question, can i link a gmail account to my Apple mail?
    Thanks for any help.
    Best wishes
    Dave.

No.  It was a feature that was introduced with the release of 10.7.2.  I do not know why it was not introduced on earlier versions.  Probably the same reasons why some features will be introduced in later versions of OS X that will not be found on older versions.

I have an older Mac Pro (2006). I want to install Boot Camp and Windows. I have installed a boxed Snow Leapord on the machine. And it says the download of the Boot camp drivers cannot continue because they are not available. But at that point I have not inserted a windows disk, so how does it know i have XP?
So it appears I am limited to Windows 7? And where are the Windows 7/Boot Camp Drivers? On the OS disk?
Finally, since I have necer considered Windows 7 before, I assume there are no compatability issues with mainstream applications that were running in XP?
    Thank you.

    You're welcome
Just remember to reformat the partition (bootcamp partition) to NTFS with the windows installer, ensure to pick the correct partition.

  • Updated to snow Leapord and now my time capsule is slow

Recently updated Mac mini to snow Leapord and since then my wireless network is 2mb/s or slower on my 1TB time capsule. Can anyone help?

Hello. I don't know what part of the world you're in but if you're in North America TVs typically operate on the NTSC format and if you're in another part of the world PAL is used. If you have an option in System Preferences, make sure the appropriate choice is selected.

  • From tiger to snow leapord?

HI, a friend found an old macbook and gave it to me to use.  I've never had an apple product before, so I may not know all the terminology.  It's a tiger 10.4.11 with 1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.   Is there any way to upgrade it to a snow leapord, or something that works?  I tried installing what I found on the internet, but it says I need a 10.5 before I can install the leapord.  I can't find a 10.5 to download online.  Can someone help me with this?  Thanks Mo

The fact that it is a 1.83 ghz  Core 2 duo indicates that it is either an early 2006 or late 2006 model.  The latest version of OSX that can run on early 2006 machines is Snow Leopard and the latest on the late 2006 is Lion, so whichever you have, you can run Snow Leopard.
When you say "I tried installing what I found on the internet" - was this a genuine version of Snow Leopard?
I don't think Snow Leopard is available as a download (well, not a legal copy anyway) but you can get the disk from Apple still.  See this link (UK in this case but available elsewhere too):
    http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Also note the questions and answers from the Community, where someone asks if it can be installed over 10.4.11 - the answer is yes, if your MacBook has an Intel processor (and explains how to check for this).  Also explains that Snow leopard is NOT available as a download, only as disks to buy.

  • HAVING TROUBLE SAVING ITEMS IN LION AS IT IS DIFFERENT THAN SNOW LEAPORD... CAN ANYONE SHARE THE CORRECT PROCEEDURE?

I'M HAVING TROUBLE USING THE SAVE FEATURE IN LION AS IT'S MUCH DIFFERENT THAN THAT IN SNOW LEAPORD, CAN ANYONE SHARE THE CORRECT PROCEEDURE TO SAVE A DOCUMENT?

Revert back to Snow Leopard would be the ideal choice.
Not writing in all caps would be nice too, it's SHOUTING
Thirdly, Lion introduced auto-save, so you have to duplicate the file, then open the duplicate to make changes.
    Wonderfully asinine.
Quit the program, it will ask you to save.

  • Snow Leapord Support

    Hello all,
As most folks know, we are hot on the heels of major new OS releases from both Microsoft and Apple. In these forums, some has been written about Windows 7 and various issues that have appeared and even some solutions for those various issues, but I have seen nothing thus far about Snow Leapord.
I have seen information stating that there will be a more functional version of Network Magic available for Mac users eventually, but is there any sort os time frame available? Is it expected that the current add on version of NM for the Mac will be supported with Snow Leapord?
If anyone can share any information on this topic, that would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance...

Hi all, It does appear that there are some issues with NM for Mac and Mac OS X Snow Leopard.  At this time, I recommend holding off on upgrading to 10.6 if you have NM for Mac and have not upgraded yet.  I'll post if I hear anything new relating to this that I am able to post on.
Current Status: The official word that I have is that Linksys/Cisco is currently working on the issues but don't have a time frame as to when an update will be available.  http://support.purenetworks.com/cgi-bin/pure.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=198

    My Cisco Network Magic Configuration:
Router: D-Link WBR-2310 A1 FW:1.04, connected to Comcast High Speed Internet
Desktop, iMac: NM is on the Windows Partition, using Boot camp to access Windows, Windows 7 Pro 32-bit RTM, Broadcom Wireless N Card, McAfee Personal Firewall 2009,
Mac Partition of the iMac is using Mac OS X 10.6.1 Snow Leopard
Laptop: Windows XP Pro SP3, Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG, McAfee Personal Firewall 2008
Please note that though I am a beta tester for Network Magic, I am not a employee of Linksys/Cisco and am volunteering my time here to help other NM users.

  • What do I need to go from OS 10.4.11 to lion or even snow leapord with my imac

I have not used my iMac in almost 2 years and have OS 10.4.11 installed on it. What do I need to upgrade to the latest OS? Can any of this be done off line or do I need to get it onlne first. Should I go to just snow leapord or go to lion and is there a benefit of going to lion?

The lastest Mac OS X is Lion v10.7.2. You would have to upgrade to Snow Leopard v10.6 in order to do this.
First, make sure your Mac meets Lion's requirements.
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
Apple - OS X Lion - Technical specifications
"10.4.4 Tiger Intel can go straight to Snow Leopard without getting Leopard"

Do you ever visit a friend or realtive with a Mac who has faster internet? Maybe the local library has Macs on a fast line. If so, get a USB thumb drive and put this link on it from your computer:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
Then put this link on the drive:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1429
When you are at some place that has a Mac with a decent download speed. insert the thumb drive in that Mac and click on the first link ("DL1399") and direct the download to your thumb drive. Now do the same this with the second link.
The installer files will now be on the thumb drive and, when you get home, drag them from the thumb drive to your desktop. Install the Combo update first.

  • Hello, I currently have a MacBook snow leapord and i'm trying to connect it with my Canon MP560 printer, i put in the CD and installed everything properly but now when i add a printer it says a Queue already exists, i click continue and nothing happens???

    Hello,
I'm using a MacBook Snow Leapord and I'm trying to connect it with my Canon MP560 printer/scanner.
I installed the CD and followed along with the manual and did everything it asked, at the end it told me it was finished.
So then I went to go print something and an error had occured so i went to the file menu on Microsoft Word for
Mac and clicked Print/Add Printer and then i click on the Canon MP560 series-1 as it was the only one to click on.
When I did it stated that I already has a Queue for this printer and if I'd like to add a new one so I clicked continue and nothing
    had happend. PLEASE HELP
    sincerely,
    Laura.

I would recommend to download the driver appropriate for your system from the Canon webiste or, after installing it, to run software update and it will detect it for you.
If you have the last driver appropriate for your system, you may wish to reset the printing system. To do this, go to Sys prefs/print and fax and, upon clicking minus button, also press Option/alt key. You will be asked to confirm, do it. Then, add the printer by pressing plus button, it should work now.
But, before doing this, download the last good driver, CDs usually contain outdated drivers.

Sorry Glen, but there is not. And you don't have to upgrade to 10.6 (Snow Leopard).  You need at a minimum of 10.5.8 (Leopard).
