Snow leopard 10.6.2 still doesn't scan in HP 915 All-in-One...Why ???

I just upgaraded my macbook 2.4 Ghz Aluminium model to Snow Leopard 10.6.2. But still the software like 10.6 & 10.6.1 doesn't recognise the scanner on my printer model HP 915 All-in-One. When will Apple release the scanner driver for this model ? It looks my printer will become redundant without the scanner ?

Hello sumitsuri & welcome to discussions.
Have you confirmed you've downloaded and installed the absolute latest HP related drivers?
Not the ones on the DVD installer...

  • Upgraded from osx snow leopard to lion and still no iCloud

Upgraded from osx snow leopard to lion and still no iCloud settings in System Preferences, why?

I have the exact same issue, and no Profiles for me under System. My system was upgraded from 10.6 as soon as Lion came out and I've never had the icon.
I have had iCloud set up by creating an account within Mail, Contacts & Calendars - but in this setup my Mobile Documents folder, my iCloud "Documents and Data", never synchronized with my other devices. That is why I began wondering why I don't have the iCon as I have seen other Macs that came with 10.7 installed factory.

Just downloaded FACETIME on my 4yr. olf Imac running Snow Leopard. When making a call to my friend's Imac all works correctly going both ways. When my wife calls me via Facetime from her Ipad, I cannot click on "accept"- not there? When called by the Imac (newest), the "accept" or "reject" radio button appears for me to click and connect. On my wife's Ipad the two radio buttons always appear when a call actiivates Facetime and comes on?
There is nothing I can find in "Preferences" in Facetime to turn that on or off. I suspect it has to do with having a more current operating system; that the "controls" are in the operating system? [I'm guessing] It's frustrating getting Facebook calls from several friends on Ipads! Any ideas...VFP

I suspect it has to do with not having a more current operating system
Exactly, what Apple is doing is leveraging new features only on newer OS X versions to force you to upgrade OS X to 10.7 or later.
What they don't tell you is 10.7 or later will NOT run your PowerPC based software, some of it you can't get Intel versions like for perfectly working printers, scanners and games etc. So it can be a very expensive OS X upgrade to 10.7 or later with third party software.
    http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
Also they don't tell you is the risk in bricking your machine if the update goes badly, so you have to have AppleCare in case that occurs so it's on them to fix it. Else your paying money to replace the logicboard or buying a new machine prematurely.
A four year old machine can't have AppleCare, it's only good for 3 years from date of purchase new.
Your machine came with a boot hard drive, it's usually got about 4-5 years of life on it, then it needs to be replaced.
Also they don't tell you the newer OS X version has more abilities and features that causes your machine to slow down in performance, especially on older machines.
Also they implement new, idotic and extremely fustrating new user interface features in a arbitrary "you take it or leave it" manner with little or no fall back method.
So upgrading OS X is a gamble on older machines that otherwise would likely work perfectly fine for the next 5 years if one didn't need to have to mess with it.
Since Snow Leopard has slightly over 25% OS X version market share, your still good for security updates etc for the next few years if you just want to stay where your at and be happy.
OS X 10.4/10.5 need to upgrade, 10.6.8 ok still
The Lions are, well, not so welcome due to Scott Forstall retard UI issues, OS X Mavericks 10.9 is likely going to fix things a bit better.
But basically what is occuring is Apple is trying to force a faster hardware upgrade cycle with the more expensive products by leveraging features on the smaller devices that expire sooner.
Apple is a hardware company that leverages whatever it can to get you to buy more hardware, it's why they are as rich as they are.

I upgraded from snow leopard to mavericks only to find that my backup files of all my CS3 indesign, illustrator, photoshop wo't run, how do I uninstall mavericks and get my old system back.  I retired from graphics a few years back but still have old clients I do work for and maintain files for.  Would not have upgraded if I had known of the incompatability.

You did not due any due dilligence to investigate if your legacy apps would run, you should upgrade your apps. However if you feel you have to downgrade back to SL then click

No, you can't partition a Time Capsule's internal HD.  Both partitions will back up to the same sparse bundle. keeping the backups for each partition separate.
Time Machine will not take the two OSX partitions as two different computers, but for best results, exclude the Snow Leopard drive from backups on the Lion partition, and exclude the Lion partition from backups on the Snow Leopard partition.
There may be some files on the Lion partition that Time Machine on Snow Leopard won't like, among other things.  See #10 in  Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions for details.

  • FF4 on Snow Leopard: Cmd-N, "New Window", doesn't open, is in Window menu, but isn't accessible. Add-ons all disabled.

I installed FF4 yesterday onto my Mac running Snow Leopard 10.6.7. Today I can't open a "new window" using either the "New Window" menu under File, or using Cmd-N. (Don't know if it would have worked yesterday - I didn't try.) I disabled all (4) of my add-ons, restarted and the new windows are still failing to open. The new windows are listed in the "Window" menu, but even using that, I can't open them. Showing all open windows, using the built-in Mac "Expose" (F9) feature also doesn't show these windows.

Well, today my New Window functionality is working fine, not fast, but it works. Nothing has changed - no new software or OS updates. Oh, well, thanks for looking at this.

  • Just upgraded to snow leopard and my intellipoint mouse doesn't work, does it not work with the later versions of the OS

I just upgraded to snow leopard and now my intellipoint mouse doesn't work, I tried downloading a new driver and it installs successfully except an extension but it still doesn't work, is this typical of the OS higher than 10.4? Is there any way I can get around this problem?

You need to check with the mouse's developer and see if it's supported or not. That information wouldn't be known by users on this forum.

  • Time Machine in Snow Leopard much better but still problematic

I've found Time Machine backups to a Time Capsule to be much faster under Snow Leopard than under previous versions of the OS, and I've found that TM seems to avoid some of the extra backups that always seemed to get scheduled:
Jan 8 11:27:01 Musa [0x0-0x188188].backupd-helper[3527]: Not starting Time Machine backup after wake - less than 60 minutes since last backup completed.

But the question is, why would Time Machine try to backup less than 60 or 10 minutes after the last backup in the first place?
In addition, TM doesn't always avoid the extra, unnecessary backup:

When OSX wakes from sleep, Time Machine immediately checks to see if a backup is needed. Since one was done less than an hour before, it doesn't do another one. This message is just telling you why it didn't do a backup upon wake. (Under Leopard, it would do one automatically, which some folks complained about. So Apple changed it.)
Jan 10 20:33:34 Musa com.apple.backupd-auto[14230]: Not starting scheduled Time Machine backup - less than 10 minutes since last backup completed.
Most likely, you did a manual backup a few minutes before this. That does not re-set the schedule; but when the next scheduled backup time arrives, TM checks, and if less than 10 minutes has elapsed, resets the schedule and tells you why it didn't do the scheduled backup. Another thing foks complained about under Leopard that Apple changed.

  • Snow Leopard Mail Signature Files Still Not Showing Inline

I was hoping Snow Leopard's mail would fix my signature file being added as an attachment rather than appearing inline in the message as you'd expect. Any ideas or anybody found a way to get the signature file to actually appear with the mail text? (Recepients on Exchange 2007 server running Outlook 2003 latest service pack on Windows XP Pro see my signature file as an attachment.)

I suspect, but haven't had a chance to retest with Mail 4.0 with any recipient, that the problem remains the use of Rich Text Format when sending to anyone using Outlook or Outlook Express. Test composing your Signature only in Plain Text, and then send the entire message in Plain Text. Not as pretty, but should work.
