Snow leopard 10.6.8 doesn't recognize hp laserjet 2100m  Just loaded SL yesterday, 2100m has worked for years. Hooked to Apple wireless.

I just installed Snow Leopard  10.6.8 and it doesn't recognize the hp laserjet 2100M that has been connected for years using 10.5.  Nothing shows up when I go to add printers.

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
Appletalk network support protocol was dropped with Snow Leopard 10.6.
You might find this thread helpful:
https://discussions.apple.com/message/10076597#10076597
siu-85's post in that thread gives comprehensive instructions on how to add the printer, if your printer includes an Ethernet card (EIO adapter).
If not, your alternatives are apparently to connect via a USB cable, to purchase an EIO adapter, or to find a new printer.

I understand that when you originally connected your IPhone about a year ago it was recognized properly.
Now when you connect your IPhone nothing happens but it does charger it, (until you used the last cable.)

  • Wireless crap shoot, why it has worked for years and now doesn't

wireless dropped off last week. Did nothing, changed nothing to my knowledge. Now, have a cable modem from charter, so ethernet direct to my airport extreme. set up is good. but when I go to the internet, not connected. Assistant/diagnostics goes thru the same routine restarting everything, then says it can't fix the problem. So I am at this point...new cable modem, new airport extreme, and confirmed my wireless card in my macbook pro is good because I am able to join other networks. Geez.

OK, thanks. That confirms that the Internet connection is working and the wired portion of the AirPort Extreme is working, so we can concentrate on the wireless issue.
You may not have changed anything on your setup, but the explosive growth of wireless networks and other wireless devices like cordless phones and Bluetooth devices has created some Wireless Interference issues for just about anyone who is not lucky enough to live in an isolated area with no other homes around for a few hundred yards.
My neighbor...across the street...can literally bring my wireless network to a standstill if he is in his front yard talking on his cordless phone, so that might give you a quick idea of how wireless networks can be affected by outside sources. The link to the Wireless Interference document that I provided above will go into more detail about this.
Often, the only thing you can really do to try to improve things is change the wireless channel that your AirPort Extreme is using to see if you can find some clear airspace.
To do this, you would open AirPort Utility and click Manual Setup. Then click on the Wireless tab/label just below the Advanced icon. Try different Channel settings until you find a good, clear channel or run out of channels.

  • Snow Leopard (10.6.4) Doesn't See Time Capsule Printer But 10.5.8 Does

Snow Leopard (10.6.4) doesn't recognize the Lexmark printer connected to my Time Capsule v 7.4.2. However, the printer is nicely recognized on Leopard (10.5.8) on my PowerBook as well as on the two Windows computers in my Home. In fact, with printer sharing activated on my PowerBook, the printer appears in the Add Printer dialog of my Mac Mini as a shared printer from the PowerBook, but not directly from the Time Capsule.
I have tried rebooting, upgrading to the latest software upgrades to no avail.
    Any ideas ?

After all, the printer wasn't "Bonjour visible" in the list of available printers on 10.5.8 either, but it still worked after the earlier setup. Restarting the Time Capsule fixed the problem.

Restart with the Mac OS X 10.6 DVD in the drive or with the Lion USB drive connected, hold down the Option key just after the restart, tab to the installation disk, and press Enter. If the computer has a firmware password set, it needs to be provided for this to work.

  • After OS X Snow Leopard update. Why doesn't quick time doesn't load?

after OS X Snow Leopard update. Why doesn't quick time doesn't load?

Try installing the 10.6.8 Combo update which contains all the latest updates for that OS.  Be aware that there appears to be no further support for Snow Leopard.

If you have done it before it will do no harm.  Indeed it is known to repair some minor blemishes in your system.

  • I am upgrading from Tiger to Snow Leopard. I keep getting an error when I try to load the Mac Os x update combined. It says that it was corrupted during download. Have try loading from Apple website V10.6.7 upgrade combined but it still won't do it?

I have an Intel Desktop iMac and I am upgrading from Tiger to Snow Leopard. I keep getting an error when it tries to load the Mac OS X update combined. It says that it was corrupted during download. Have try loading from Apple website  Mac OS X V10.6.7 upgrade combined but it still won't do it? Any other suggestions. The printer is not working either - I am not sure if they are connected. Everything else is fine.

Please excuse, but I have to ask an obvious question: Did you already update using the Snow Leopard Retail install DVD? (You must do this first; 10.6.7 is just an update if you already have 10.6.) Are you, then, trying to update from whatever version was on the install DVD to 10.6.7?
Otherwise, I'd keep trying. The 10.6.7 Combo is a huge update.

  • I can't import MXF files shot on a Canon C300 into FCP 10.1.2.  I have the Canon plug in for MXF file to FCP import but FCPX still doesn't recognize MXF files when I try to import. Premiere works fine importing MXF on the same computer.

    Russ and Luis,
I did uninstall and re-install Canon XF Utility and the Canon FCPX plug in.   Still no luck.  I checked the CanonXF64.RADPlug folder is on my computer in the Rad Plugins folder in application support  This is where it is supposed to be as far as I can figure out.
Another piece of the puzzle is that  footage shot on a Canon C300 in 2013 and  I reimported today and it DOES import into FCP10.1.3.   Footage shot on a different Canon C300 filmed this summer will NOT import into FCPX.  The latter will import into Premiere. But I am trying to work in FCPX, but maybe I shouldn’t be??
    Any ideas?  (screen shots below)
    Thanks.
    Peace, Huey
FYI Here is what Canon says
"There is another trick that works sometimes though.  Try uninstalling the plugin and XF Utility.  Then, install the latest XF Utility, followed by the plugin, in that order."
I did do this but no results.  Otherwise they say I need to wait for a new plugin.
Here's 2014 Canon C300 files does NOT import to FCPX
Here's 2013 Canon C300 files does import into FCPX.  I thought it was Contents folder but another set of footage shot on C300 does import and there is no contents folder for that.

  • I just put snow leopard 10.6.8 on my macbook pro and I was told that I could purchase Apature for photo management- now its says I need a different version.... is there an older version I could get? so frustrating.

I just put snow leopard 10.6.8 on my macbook pro and I was told that I could purchase Apature for photo management- now its says I need a different version.... is there an older version I could get? so frustrating.

The current version of Aperture requires 10.7.5 or later.
Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard — Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service — this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion — System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.

Probably not, but it's impossible to be certain in advance; back up everything first.
It isn't possible to update Safari past 5.1.10 without upgrading the computer's OS.

Macbook Snow Leopard 10.6.8 with bootcamp 3.0 does not recognize my windows 7 64-bit .iso disc.  I recently used it on my mountain lion macbook pro with no trouble. I partioned the disk and when I insert disc and hit continue, mac says it cannot recognize the windows install disc. What could be the problem? Please help, really stuck!

I was able to import photos in iPhoto and Image capture when I was running SL 10.6.8 on my older MacBook.
Did you try quitting everything, restart the Mac and then try again?
Are there any updates at all for the Mac? I was helping one user not all that long ago and there were updates for her Mac software that had nothing to do with the OS and when she downloaded the updates - the iPad was then recognized in iTunes.
